Had a terrible experience here. Got given a room that stank of takeaway food, had grease on kettle and wall, had a pubic hair on one of the beds (thankfully we had one more than needed) and there was a plastic bag over the smoke detector. I didn’t have time to complain as were we’re late for a wedding, so we got ready and went out. On return to the hotel there were sketchy characters hanging around outside and we struggled to get parked as their car park is too small for the hotel. Once inside a very drunk group shouted at us, which I’m ok with but they scared my teenage daughter. Anyway, we got to sleep and left first thing. I provided feedback when asked by Travelodge and hoped they may read and apologise for the poor quality of the room. Fast forward to today and I get a civil claim for £150 for smoking in my room!! I’ve never smoked in my life, neither has my wife. Basically, if your room isn’t perfect, make sure you drop everything and complain because if you don’t they’ll make it your problem sure enough. Disgraceful.

Check the website very carefully before you book. At the moment there's no restaurant but their system still lets you buy breakfast and dinner. Apparently somewhere on the website it tells you there's no catering facilities but that info is well hidden! Staff are friendly and they try their best to be helpful in the mess and disruption of the ongoing redecoration. Room was clean but for the price I'd expect glasses and a hairdryer in my room. Bolton has better located hotels with catering facilities that charge less. Shop around. If you want to eat out this place is at the wrong side of town and it's on a busy road so you'll hear lots of sirens.

Stayed overnight as part of a trip up north and was really impressed by this hotel. It's nice and central in the town being a 10 minutes or so walk from the train station and bus station. Rooms are extremely clean and well presented, and we're ready for us to book straight in when we arrived. As Bolly was with us, we had a room on the first floor overlooking a really nicely converted office building and over reception. The only thing I would say is that the bathroom though completely functional, was rather small and the shower curtain not very good at keeping the floor dry as the shower was extremely powerful. The bed was very, very comfortable. I don't sleep that well, yet I slept a full 8 hours without being in pain when I woke up. We didn't eat in the cafe, but it looked extremely clean and tidy, with a bar as well. The car park is round the building with additional parking at the side of the hotel and is free. Disabled parking is available directly opposite the reception doors. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, helping us with a slight problem with the key card not working the lifts. I would definitely say it's the best Travelodge we have stayed in and look forward to staying again when we travel that way in the future.

Rooms here are tiny. But it's a city center hotel. If window is open it can get noisy. But with no air con it has to be open. Staff are really friendly and happy to help. Food is what you would expect from a Travelodge. Breakfast doesn't start until 7 so doesn't suit anyone leaving earlier like me. I did manage to scrounge a porridge or 2 though. Location was great for me but I was only 5 minutes away for work.

Situated close to Bolton town centre ( within easy walking distance ) Good parking- there is an overflow car park if main one busy. Just need to ask at reception for the code. Clean room, comfortable bed and good stand up shower. Very reasonable price. Some traffic noise from the busy road- but this did not bother us.

This hotel is probably great 90% of the year. But DO NOT book it if it's likely to be warm weather... it has no air conditioning and is utterly unbearable when the weather is warm. They will give you a fan, but that won't cut it, especially in a family room 🥵 Other than that, it's a standard budget hotel, nothing else bad to report 🙂

A newly refurbished travelodge that was very welcoming. Within walking distance of what we wanted. Yes, it was noisy from the road outside, but that is expected from the location... which we chose. Staff were extremely friendly, and breakfast was lovely.

Pleasantly surprised; Travelodge doesn't always have the best reputation but I booked a few weeks in advance and managed to get a Saver Rate room at £37 for the night as somewhere to stay for a night out. Very budget hotel but clean and warm room, couldn't hear any noise in the corridors or any road noise (when the window was closed) and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of space in the car park, staff friendly and security presence at night. Didn't have breakfast or use the bar/cafe facilities so can't comment on those.

It's a nice new clean Hotel. Cafe/bar on ground floor, super friendly staff. You can meet all sorts of odd and strange people when you have a cigarette outside the front doors at night!

A good Travelodge, nice rooms, a café/bar on site. Good meal deals. Room was quite hot, very sunny on that side of the hotel but the window was open and curtains closed on arrival to try to help with this. Fan in the room helped too. Small carpark but we got a space, there is other parking nearby too. Location isn't the best, there were lots of police/ambulance sirens during the night but that may be a one off. Staff were friendly and helpful but staff are very limited and one person running reception and the bar. Food was good for the price. Bed was comfy. For a night to break up a long journey it was great.

A superb, clean, friendly hotel, but not the greatest of area's, Bolton. Suited us as the train station was a 10 minute walk and we were in Manchester in 20 minutes. Staff were very nice, our room on the 4th floor was recently refurbished, so brand new. Unlimited breakfast was amazing topping our night out off. If you want a nice cheaper hotel and get into manchester easily, then this is the one.

We stayed here after PARKLIFE and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, gave us lots of information regarding the venue and various cab services available, even gave us a little information card and free bottles of water on a 30°C day. Hotel has recently been revamped so I think the bad reviews are from before the refurb. Bar is open 24/7, very clean and quiet even after the festival! Would stay again no probs. Expect to pay upward of £100 if staying for PARKLIFE!

I had an amazing experience at Travelodge in River street in Bolton. The customer service at this hotel was amazing and was treated really well. I would like to give an amazing customer focused review for Mehinish at the service desk, always smiling, treating me every morning and always asking if I and my work colleague needed anything or any help. Felt very welcomed by her.

Rooms nice and clean and reception staff friendly. Only one sugar in the room. Location not ideal if you want to go into town as it's a bit of an uphill walk. But overall a pleasant stay.

Staff are lovley but it's a little out of Bolton. Breakfast is served at 7 so cracking if you want a meal before heading out!. Staff were super helpful at amending bookings and topping up items in the room if needed

I stayed in the Travelodge in Bolton some weeks from July to August 2021 to due a family bereavement (I traveled from Ireland). Due to the circumstances of the bereavement we unfortunately required hotel accommodation during this period. I can only say the staff at the Travelodge in Bolton Central River Street are some of the most welcoming, polite, kind and hardworking employees I have come across. The sympathy and understanding shown to my family during this difficult time meant a huge amount to all of us, and really made the difference. All staff from management to reception and cleaning we had nothing to positive experiences with. I cannot recommend the hotel more, I will certainly be staying again for any of my future trips to Bolton. Zero issues to cleanliness, the accommodation was always left spotless and the location is very central with excellent transport links with the train 5 minutes down the road by foot. If I had to point at any improvement it would probably be some Air Conditioning as it was during the warmer periods during our stay. The price was modest and very competitive. Thanks again from all the Connolly/Coffey family. Paul Connolly

Good lady on reception and in bar, very busy , but she still had time for everyone. Room nice and tidy, good location for us visiting family.

Staff were great and helpful. Location is central but a little rough walking into the town centre. I also would say the room slightly smelled of dogs, although presented as clean. Priced was great

Due to a home emergency we (myself, husband and two adult sons) were accommodated here by our insurance company. The staff were brilliant - nothing was too much trouble - because of Covid restrictions rooms were not serviced as normal so we needed to request new towels/ bedding/ tea & coffee for the rooms at reception and these were fulfilled immediately - great service! Breakfast was very good - lots of choice and good quality. The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean and had everything we needed - comfy bed, hot powerful shower, TV, kettle, fan and heater. Location ideal just a short walk to town centre amenities. Would definitely recommend.

No major complaints. Decent average size rooms for the price. Very clean too. Beds are comfortable to sleep in. The shower is a little small and the curtain kept coming in whilst showering. Had a short stay here for a wedding we were attending nearby. We booked the breakfast the night before (around £8/pp) and it was your standard English continental breakfast buffet. Security is good as there is a night watch guard and room keys are needed to use the lift and open the entrance door at night. Clubs are nearby so late at night you may hear loud noises from people passing by. The WiFi is only free for 30 minutes and you can pay for longer usage, around £3 for 24 hours of usage, and £6 for 72 hours.

Good, reasonable price as for such level of service; good breakfast, clean room, good location. Very noisy if your room is facing to main roads side. Unfortunately, reception staff couldn't change for backside despite query to get quite room. No soap in shower (empty dispenser).

Very helpful staff especially Julie who greeted us warmly on arrival. The room was very clean. My only criticism was the fresh fruit selection at breakfast. I would suggest better quality fruit should be used or tinned in a light syrup. Enjoyed my stay .

Does anyone really like travel lodge? It’s pretty much an unmanned hotel, help yourself. If it’s not available, go without. It is what it is and it’s a bed for the night but there is nothing pleasant about the experience. I’d be much more comfortable in a tent.

Very clean room. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble and a good choice of breakfast if you want it. Excellent value for money if your just looking for somewhere to put your head down.

Good - Staff are friendly. Bed is clean and comfy. Bad - The noise from other rooms prevents sleep because the walls and floors are paper thin. I mean you can hear every footstep. The shower temperature and pressure vary significantly during use and cannot be controlled. Faulty door lock on my room. Restaurant isn't much more than a canteen. Overall not worth what you save by not going somewhere with better facilities.

We went as a large family 2 nights for wedding. Loved it Kevin went the xtra mile. Only downside we all drank in the bar and you have to get key to use the toilet. Could do with proper toilet.

Not a great hotel overall, but let’s start with the positives. Handy for the train station (5 mins walk), very cheap prices, and staff are lovely, with a genuine helpful attitude. But that really is where the good ends. The room itself felt like it was in dire need of a refresh - the carpet was stained in different areas, there were dirty marks on the walls, and the bed was not very comfortable. There was also a lot of dust build up around the headboard. And the sockets were nowhere near the bed. However, the worst of all was the bathroom. Small, bad design and the most disgusting smell from the shower drain, which nothing seemed to fix. The shower also kept changing temperature and couldn’t get it to be consistent. Overall, ideal for maybe a one night stop if it’s a last minute booking or you really need to be in the area. But I definitely think it’s worth paying more for a Premier Inn elsewhere. It was my first time using Travelodge and I am disappointed, and probably won’t be back.

Great staff. They really make your stay worth it. The manager and assistant manager are so helpful and attentive. From helping with our luggage storage to breakfast being sorted, to having our room cleaned. I'm quite pleased and impressed with the service received. Thank you

Stayed one night for work, the man at the front desk when we checked in and all the staff we spoke to were very friendly and nice. The room itself wasn't the cleanest we've ever stayed in, there were a few sticky dried-in marks on the carpet, grubby walls, ect. However the bar/restaurant area was very clean and looked almost brand new. There is parking, possibly not enough for the size of the Travelodge, however we managed to park fine at 4pm, but by 6.30pm the car park was full. Other reviews moaned about the noisy road, however our room was right next to the road and it didn't disturb my sleep at all. We would stay here again if passing.

We checked in on Friday afternoon as my friend was getting married on Saturday. Ben, a member of staff was really, really helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. Same on Saturday, the staff were excellent. They brought the hairdresser, makeup artist, mother of the bride up to our room. Poor girls were up and down like yoyos. They then gave us complementary bottles of wine with glasses. Fantastic staff 😁❤ We
