Good place for families with younger children. The volunteers seem knowledgeable and friendly with those on the wild wonders encounters where we watched supervised kids feeding alligators and gently handling turtles (or maybe they were tortoises). The kids were excited, so definitely a fun adventure for them. For seniors, it was just okay and took about 30-45 minutes to see everything. The highlight for me was watching a huge snow white bird (peacock?) wandering around the same paths we were on.

Small but beautiful place. They have alligators, birds, reptiles, snakes, flamingos etc. They also sell food so you can feed the animals. The place has restrooms on side and a small souvenir store with staff for kids. There is no food to buy only vending machines to buy ice cream and drinks. There seems to be some work going on, but it’s not overwhelming. Very nice place to spend an hour or two with the kids or without.

It's a very sweet rescue with a nice selection of birds, plants, some turtles, and small Crocs. They suffered damage from Hurricane Ian & are still rebuilding a bit. They're working on a River Otter exhibit that I wish we'd have been able to see. We were happy to stop by, and for $12 each, it was easy to make a donation to help them continue their work.

Wonder Gardens gives great discounts for military and first responders. Even with a lot of shade it was so incredibly hot that it was impossible to stand for too long at any one spot. Lots of parrots, birds, alligators to see but not the most interesting for our family. An otter exhibit is being built which will be a great attraction. An adorable parrot did speak to us by exclaiming hello! Our family was delighted. The AC in the gift shop was so appreciated and overall it was a nice pit stop but for us we wouldn't make a return visit.

An absolute favorite way to kill an hour. You can tell everyone there loves to work/volunteer here and that they love their animals. I really enjoy looking at the tea room building and my kids LOVE how close you can be to the birds. It’s a very small area, but I’m always happy to go!

This little zoo was pretty neat! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really beautiful and the animals were easy to see! There were no otters because that part was under construction but the enclosure they were building for them looked fun and was large. Lots of neat plants as well!

I spent about 1.5 hours here and I loved all the greenery amongst the variety of interesting animals. This is a great place for anyone! I came alone and had a blast taking photos and constantly found myself going back to see the huge alligators and the green house like structures were so pretty! Had to snag myself a souvenir at the end for sure.

Staff is friendly & informative. The tropical gardens are beautiful & well cared for by volunteers. Certainly worth the $10 admission price.

Cute little gem that has been around as a roadside attraction since 1936. It was one of the things that put Bonita Springs on the map. Now the town has built up around it, but stepping inside this mini zoo is like stepping back in time. A must see with the family if you are in the area.

Such a cute little tropical zoo. My toddler daughter loved it, especially feeding the birds. Was debating to go or not, but very happy we did!! Would definitely recommend.

What a great place to spend a few hours with kids and family. It's not too long and has a nice selection of birds, turtles, and alligators. And all embedded in a park with beautiful plants and flowers. A must go when you are in Bonita Springs.

Wonder Gardens is a small sanctuary with many interesting plants and birds in cages. Iguanas come and go like they own the place. Kids enjoyed the big lizards and squawking parrots. Clean and well maintained. Plan to spend about 45 minutes here. There are certain days that you can pay extra to feed the animals. I would’ve done that but we were out of days. Good for people that like to look at plants but not really worth the ticket price because you can see the same plants Florida for free. There were some little ceramic bowls on display with price tags. We were looking at them because I really wanted to buy one. The staff said they were not for sale because there are no prices yet even though every piece had a price sticker! Staff at the entrance/gift shop/exit was extremely rude. The first and last people you see leave a bad taste in your mouth. The place is ok if you need to kill some time but would not recommend due to rude service. Their sign outside says WELCOME. Staff was not welcoming.

This is truly a magical place! The upclose experience with the animals is amazing and the plants and gardens are just beautiful! I would highly recommend spending an afternoon in this gem originally started in 1936! It isn't like a big zoo, so don't expect that! It is a quaint one of a kind experience, like entering your own little tropical world!

Beautiful Garden with animals all around! The animals are each in their own enclosures but you can easily see them up close! They had a wheelchair that I used to push my Mom in and it was quite accessible. The kids had a great time! Plenty to see and learn about. I was here 3 years ago and I do miss their museum (maybe hurricane Ian made it not available anymore?) Please bring back the museum :) A great small place to visit!

This place is very diverse and pretty. There were a lot of different reptiles and birds to see. The price is affordable. I'm glad that there is a rescue that takes in pets that people don't want. (As a reminder for people looking to purchase animals, reptiles or birds, please understand the time, money, and commitment of owning birds, reptiles or any other animal. ) some animals live for 60 years or more. Be prepared for that commitment or don't get the animal. Thank you Wonder Gardens for doing such an incredible job with all of the animals.

Ok, so first of all, all the out-of-state tourists stop complaining- this is southern Florida, not some blasted New York or Chicago. Yes it is a quaint little place, mini-zoo/mini-botanical garden, nothing super fancy, but definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. My two teenagers and myself had a blast here, so many cute birds (flamingos, peacocks, ibis, cockatoos, etc) and other animals to see. My kids bought 4 different feeds ($2 each), and had fun feeding all the creatures. Several displays were empty, but they are working on them, and will be expanding (bald eagle coming soon, etc). Staff is super nice and friendly. Definitely check out the flamingoes, and Casey the cockatoo (he can say “hello” and “good-bye”!), also turtles, parakeets, alligators, snakes, turtles... We spent almost 2 hours here, such a beautiful hidden gem.

My painting group went there on a perfect Wednesday morning. The staff was delightful, enthusiastic & informative. Many are volunteers & do so for love of the place. They lost a major building to Hurricane Ian and are raising funds to replace it. I try to support this "wonder'ful, kitschy place every chance I get!

Beautiful garden! I appreciate that they honored our reciprocal horticultural membership. We’ll maintained and wide open with lots of staff and volunteers. I believe we visited at the off season as many exhibits were locked or under construction. Also, there was no feeding or live encounters when we went, which was disappointing. Without feeding, plan for an hour, with encounters and feeding, 2 hours. Would definitely try again in season.

Haven't been since before all the changes. It was great to see how much more open it was. So many birds to look at, and the peacock's roaming around are gorgeous. Can't wait for the otter exhibit to be up and running.

I found this place randomly looking for a quality time to spend with my kids and this place is a true gem 💎. Is a small place with some animals like turtles, birds, flamingo, ducks. This is Not a zoo, is a garden so you will spend 30 to 45 minutes going around the place. I notice how well maintained is this place, every animal cage was very clean. I enjoyed the time and the people around were very friendly. I highly recommend, and very happy to found more places like this.

We absolutely loved it here! We visited with our two children who are 2 and 4 and it was perfect because they were able to view the Animals from down in their level and the gardens weren’t too big that their attention was lost. Great variety of animals for not being a zoo and the plants/gardens were also stunning and picturesque. Great gift shop, also. The animals were also very well taken care of and they had lots of volunteers around. We will be back if ever in the area again!

This zoo is small and charming, easily can be walked through in about an hour. The lobby/gift shop is currently under construction to add in new habitat. We enjoyed the different bird and turtle species and flowers/plants. The Banyan trees on the property are amazing to see. We did not do an animal experience but they are available for additional $$

Interesting place but I would have given it more stars if the enclosures were cleaner. The alligator and turtle enclosures were all filthy and smelled horrible. There are some beautiful floral and fauna to view and lots of birds to view up close. Some snakes, lizards and monitors in glass herpetariums as well. A nice little gift shop too. The attendants are very nice and will answer any questions you have though. Takes about an hour to walk through.

Nice quick zoo to walk through, especially in the summer heat with little kids. It is just big enough. Probably can go through it quickly within 30 mins. Costs are around $10-$14 per person.

My sister was in town and I decided to take her here to experience Florida. We had such a wonderful time! We went on the animal encounter with Josef. He was incredible and helped us understand the mission statement of Wonder Gardens. Everyone new in Florida should come and learn about the wildlife in this educational encounter! Josef was kind enough to take pictures and videos while my sister and I fed the alligators, Rainbow Lorikeets, and Sulcata Tortoises. Thank you for helping us capture such great memories! I can't wait to bring the rest of the family!

Great for a COVID-safe, interesting, and unique stop on family vacation. This is sort of like a small zoo and botanical garden. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality, spacious enclosures. You can tell that the staff care a lot about the animals. We especially enjoyed feeding the peacocks and seeing the baby alligators. Felt safe with most everyone following social distancing and masking rules.

It was nice to be outside and see the animals and nature! Small place but a chill place which I like. Only $12 to get in so very reasonable. Had fun with Mumma and enjoyed ourselves very much! They are working on new exhibits which is good and our support helps!

Loved our visit to The Wonder Gardens. I highly recommend taking the tour that occurs once daily where you can feed the turtles and Lorikeets. They have all sorts of interesting information to share on the tour. It's beneficial to wear a dark colored shirt when feeding the Lorikeets, as they can be messy and splatter their food a bit. (Washes right out) Definitely not a good day to wear white!! There are only a maximum of 6 people on this tour so you have to buy the tour tickets in advance. This place provides home to various types of wildlife that cannot be released back into the wild. Come support their mission. ❤️

This is a little gem in the beautiful downtown Bonita Springs. We went at open with our 2 littles (3 & 1), our 3 year old was able to lead the way and walk around, he loved the animals and the plants were beautiful. A great place to enjoy!

The first time I went was as a kid in the early 2000s and I remembered enjoying it. This past month I wanted to come again. And oh my goodness it’s been polished up and is just an amazing experience seeing the garden well cared for and the magical feeling seeing the peacocks wander about freely and the clever gardening with large bromeliads keeping people from messing with the flamingos but yet making it feel like a close up and cage free experience! Also if your looking to make a day trip in Bonita wander the neighboring park and other lovely locations because this zoo is more of an experience in your day than it is the whole trip.

Super cute place if you are in the area should stop by. Very kid friendly found out the place is owned bu the city and takes in rescue birds which is awsome. Price is very reasonable. Hope the city will invest or find donors to fixe several areas that need upgraded. The old restaurant needs to be re-done hope the city will work on this. Is a really cute fun place. FYI you get done in about 45 min. You can feed the animals!

We were slightly disappointed. Only 2 flamingos (last time there were dozens of them). In all fairness, Hurricane Ian took a toll on them. The buildings and grounds are showing their age and sadly looking very run down.

Wonderful place. Friendly workers and amazing animals. The highlight was feeding the birds. 😁. Also, a great way to learn about conservation since they were either given or rescued some of their animals. They are putting together new exhibits, too. We just missed the debut of the Bald Eagle house. Help them out by visiting and spending some money to help their conservation efforts.

This is always a lovely place to visit! I love viewing the animals and even more so talking with the staff who obviously care very much about their animals. Recently, I needed a couple of bottles of honey for Christmas gifts and the gift shop was out so the sweet lady in the shop offered to call the local provider to get some in for me. She let me know promptly when they were in and I was able to include the excellent local honey in my gifts! Exceptional customer service, thank you so much!

It's a wonderful experience. It isn't a zoo but a park like environment where you can feed flamingo's, curlew, pheasant, duck, turtles, peacocks, visit a butterfly garden, visit rescued wildlife and enjoy a few hours away from the crazy world! Get the membership it extends admission and discounts to many other museums and attractions around the state of Florida.

I absolutely loved my day at Everglades Wonder Garden and cannot wait to go back! What a wonderful way to spend a day surrounded by nature and animals. And to get to actually hold the birds on my arm was like a dream come true. I have pictures of my from when I was a little girl at Parrot Jungle in Miami and to do this again as an adult was amazing. Rosita the Maluccan Cockatoo stole my heart! Highly recommend and I can’t wait to go back!

Great gardens and animals. Easy walk. Low prices. Fun to feed the turtles, alligators, flamingos, and birds. Gift shop has some lovely gifts. Wonderful for Christmas shopping.

  • 4/5 Jack M. 3 years ago on Google
The gift shop probably has something for most kids. And the path that then leads you past many animal areas and cages is again fun, especially for young kids. You can buy a variety of different foods to feed to the birds, the alligators, the turtles, etc. There are some beautiful pink flamingos that are over three feet tall that will eat out of your hand. Why not five stars? One of the people in our group said that the last time they were there, the alligator pond had about 20 gators. Today they had four. And a number of the areas were being renovated. Overall, good but not great.

  • 3/5 Douglas H. 3 years ago on Google
Kind of like stepping back in time to the 1960s. This is a place my family would have visited then. This was worth the hour we spent, but not much to offer. Mostly turtles and birds with one pool of alligators. Almost 50% of the exhibits are closed or under renovation. $12 a person would be a fair price if the place was actually open. We like to support places like this and hope they are successful in their renovations. We may return if we hear the place has cometed some of the projects.
