I give very seldom bad reviews unless it is very necessary. My friend and I visited this place first time. We have been to many other salsa spots in SD. There was a concert scheduled and therefore the door price was $40 which was ok for us. Unfortunately, we didn't know that there is absolutely no space to put down your purse or jacket because all tables were "reserved". There was not even a space to put a drink down if you wanted to dance. When asked if I can leave my things in the car parked in front of the club, I was told that I can't leave the premises as there is no reentry rule. Therefore I was in a limbo with not being able to put things down to dance but also not being able to put my things into my car??? When asked to speak to the manager, I've been told there can not be an exception "just for me". Honestly, I do not understand the logic behind this rule but on top, the attitude and rudeness of the manager towards the customer was even worse, giving threats to be kicked out because I challenged the rules, was the cherry on the cake. Considering that clients pay for entry and drinks, and being a small business owner myself, I, for sure, will never spend a penny in this place again.

Every Wednesday & every Saturday this place provides free latin dance classes @ 8:30pm. It's a good spot that the local latin crowd all know about, a hidden secret. Their food is awesome, especially the empeñadas & their media noche. The parking is free and the drinks are inexpensive.

This place has authentic and delicious Caribbean/Latin bites, if you’ve never traveled to the Dominican Republic or gotten the chance to taste the food, then this is the spot. They had other Latin dishes that co-workers ordered that looked great too. I made sure to order several dishes in order to taste the level of authentic flavor, and wound up with lunch leftovers for the week. I’m not a food critic, but I love to eat and this place didn’t disappoint. The only negative from my visit was that I was there for early dinner and didn’t get to stick around for the dance music that started playing. It reminded me of the music they play at the resorts. In punta cana. I don’t remember my waiters name, but she was was awesome, they brought over an after dinner shot for our group and although we were Uber full, it was a nice gesture. For the owner to come over and make sure we were all doing ok felt over the top until we realized it was out of kindness and not concern. Cant wait to start traveling to our offices in SD to go back!! This time we will stay for the dancing and take the owner up on his offer a “ a great night of dancing after dinner”. My first Dominican/Latino , but not my last thanks team LaLuz!! -Netflix dinner crew

We went here for the first time. I told my husband this is a night club, and we don't club. He said I'll ck it out, let's get an empenda. He went in and said they close at 8pm. My first introduction to Puerto Rican /Dominican food. We tried different things. The salad, some kind of root, cheese empenada, fried plantain, and my husband got a chicken dinner. The salad had a vinaigrette taste but differently stronger, I enjoyed it. The empenada was the bomb 💣 , perfectly crispy. The root thing we ate tasted like a garlic buttery potato. Very yummy. The fried plantain was a wonderful sweet treat. The Spanish rice had extras in it. It was also yummy. My husband said the chicken was perfect. I tried the chicken skin. And it was so crispy. Enjoy the pics! The night owl event was starting and we were done by 7:45 pm. They were nice, gracious hosts.

Victor a waiter there lied to us regarding no tables available for myself and 4 friends. We complained with one of the guys in the entrance and finally were able to sit down. We even got there very early. Very unprofessional.

Definitely has come a long way from when I found it in 2012. Saturdays are "jumping". Good music on both sides eventhough they play Spanish rock for a bit its tolerable. Salsa and bachata is of the hook!! Great mature crowd!

Kicked me off a table because I was alone. People who came here were arrogant and unfriendly. Only worth coming as a group.

Wow, this was a wonderful night. . I had such a great time. This was my 1st night out, here in this great city of San Diego. The wait staff provided great service. The drinks are reasonably priced and well made. The music was on point, so thumbs up to the DJ. This is a Great place for food and drinks and to hang out with friends.

Omg so much fun! Cynthia the bartender was outstanding and so friendly! Loved her so much. Will definetly come back for more dancing and Patrón in the future! Food is also not bad for a bar, empanadas are delicious by the way with that special sauce they use and the prices are so reasonable! 10/10!

Are you kidding me? What a rip off this place is. Have you ever had a1 ounce martini poured into a 6 oz. Martini glass? You have here. $8 domestic beers. Watered down liquor, ABC will be called. This place has ego because of Bar Rescue, I've been doing restuarant consulting for 20 years. This is a massive fail.
