I love this place, an old fashioned pub that serves an amazing choice of real ales way more than most pubs . Very friendly staff that know their ales and offer great advice. Next time I there there'll be new ales to try 😉 . I would definitely recommend this place for great ales. Carl

This is place we can call Local Shop For Local People 😀. Lovely, peaceful & calm place for drink. Not loud music or noice like other places. Variety of cask & keg as well as bottles n cans in fridge. I like the wooden atmosphere. Bar tender is cool n helpful person if u need an advice which kinda beer ur looking for. Overall love to b back for another drink 🍺

Absolutely a spot on pub, very friendly staff, great range of wickets... Real good home cooked food. Will be returning again 🍻👌 Edit.... yes we returned... this time, hot dog loaded with black pudding... chips loaded with curry sauce and onion bhaji... wow and yes I'd order again.

Absolutely fantastic pub in the centre of Liverpool ( and a part of the Liverpool Beer Quarter) with an amazing selection of cask and craft beers as well as fantastic selection of German and Belgian beers in bottles too And recently they even opened a side roof - terrace for outdoor pints 😜 Simply a must visit beer spot in the city #stayhoppy ✌️

Traditional pub with an extensive range of different beers on offer. Beers range from £3 upwards. Recommend Fruli which is always on tap here. Staff are friendly and it's always bustling and can be tricky to get a seat. The kitchen has a variety of visiting chefs and the food is always excellent. We've had Bao and One Pan Band and both chefs food is delicious.

It feels good to be back in pubs, and what a little gem this one is. Proper old fashioned boozer with a superb beer list, stouts, lagers, sours, IPAs, keg, cask, bottles , cans… whatever you are into you will find it here! The staff are friendly, as are the locals! Dog friendly too.

Huge range of beers from keg and cask as well as cider if that's your thing. Food is available but not an enormous menu but the place is clearly run as a pub not a restaurant. Only gave 4 stars as the place could benefit from a bit of a refresh but serving that many beers at good quality probably keeps them busy. Keep it up guys.

What can i say about the Ship And Mitre apart from it's absolutely FANTASTIC!!! I don't know how many handpumps they have as apparently there's more than one room but it must run into Double figures, all the ones i had were spot on. There's also an extensive range of keg beers from around the world, and to top it off its got it's own bottle shop, life doesn't get much better than this. Also the food is amazing and at a great price too. This pub is 100 % in my all time favourite pubs. A true Liverpool gem.

One of the best places to come for drinks in Liverpool there is no question about that! Large selection of Belgian and German beers both on draught and in bottles. Also some local stuff on draught. Great old time decor and with a nice atmosphere in the place. The food kitchen does some superb meals aswell if you can grab some, the currywurst was a particular favourite.

This is absolutely a beer lovers pub. They have a great selection of real ale which changes frequently and a good selection of other beers. I've never had the food, but the menu always looks great. If you are a beer lover in Liverpool this pub is not to be missed

This place gets a good write up so I thought it worth a trip. I was not disappointed. The interior is lovely and lots of interesting corners to perch in. The beer choice is almost too much and to top that they have a speciality bottle shop. Separately, inside, is an independent kitchen serving really great bar food. It is definitely worth a visit if real pubs are your thing.

One of our favourite pubs in Liverpool. Amazing range of beers and ciders, and there are always new ones to try. I've heard the burgers are good too. No matter what time or day, it's always busy. Love to bring friends from abroad here too.

A regular here. Always an interesting array and choice of beers. Good honest food served too, with big portion sizes and reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Quick service, even during busy times.

Brilliant pub with excellent choice of real ales and world beers. Interesting food menu provided by One Pan Band. Enjoyed the Brava Frites.

Without doubt the best pub in Liverpool, huge selection of beers and not a pint of Fosters to be seen, Paulaner and Erdinger on draught for us but many other bottles and draughts available and the food especially the veg curry and the bacon and cheese battered starter were amazing, the whole place is great value and the staff are friendly and welcoming, first pub we head to off the train everytime. Nicely situated just away from the bustle of the centre only adds to its appeal. If you enjoy proper beer get yourself there, you won't regret it.

Nice pub, it seems like they have a good choice of ale on tap, although I haven't drank it to comment. Food comes highly rated, but I have only had crisps, Pipers, so always a winner. Looks quite small when you first go in, but it goes a long way back and to the side. Blackcurrant is a bit strong for my taste, but I suspect that won't be what most people look for in a pub! Women's toilet is clean.

Massive selection of a wide variety of beers, lots of options for spirits too, and the loveliest staff you'll ever meet. Such a nice atmosphere in there, cozy when it's cold and they open the upstairs terrace when it's sunny which is great! The food is amazing and has good vegan options. Dog friendly too!

Visited here for the first time on Thursday evening with 2 friends. What a cracking little pub! Absolutely first rate beer on offer, reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. The food also looked really good so I'll be back soon to try that!

Another highly recommended pub if you're ever in Liverpool. Fantastic selection of ales, beers and lagers. Also a small bottle and can shop inside the pub. They also do food. What we saw looked absolutely fantastic. 👍👍👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻

Fantastic pub. Young bartender who served us was great. Well priced hearty pub fare and good selection of cask beer. Beer selection tries to appeal to everyone, craft, cask, cider and some mainstream.and German lagers.

Super highly recommended pub in Liverpool. Just across the road from our Travelodge Hotel. Fantastic selection of quality ales, beers and lagers. They also cook an excellent food menu which was delicious! 👍👍🍻🍻

Simply the best pub in Liverpool. I made lifelong friends within 30 minutes of my first setting foot inside the place. Large beer selection and the food menu looks great as well (didn't try it yet).

Lovely place, massive selection of beers, ales and ciders. The girl (with long dark hair) behind the bar welcomed us as we came in and was really friendly as were all the staff who we saw. There is a little kitchen serving food. We didn't try it but the food looked great coming out. Will definitely be back.

Was up for one night for a concert. Pub was opposite my hotel and I liked the look of the facade, so went in and was immediately impressed with the range of drinks on offer. Very well-kept ales and friendly and exceptionally quick service. Had a very nice, cooked from scratch lunch that I selected from an interesting and short menu (I love a short a menu). No complaints. Will be back when I return to Liverpool.

Arguably the best pub in Liverpool! An amazing selection of beers, they always have a few great stouts on. Atmosphere matches the setting; homely and welcoming We tried the vegan Scouse and Bhaji fries which were delicious. Our go to pub whenever we're visiting the city!

A refreshingly traditional old school pub, of the type that still survives sonewhere in every city centre, normally as a result of having a welcoming atmosphere and great selection of beers as reasonable prices. Places like the Ship and Mitre never try to be fashionable because they don't need to constantly reinvent themselves to have a loyal clientele. More strength to them!

A beer drinkers paradise...spacious interior with nautical theme ,a fantastic art deco upstairs. Staff friendly helpful and knowledgeable. Great drinking experience and not forgetting the chief who provides just the right menu for a hungry drinker.well worth a visit.

Great pub, close to many of the university buildings, but just off the beaten track enough to not be too busy. Great place for a quiet drink, a meet up with friends, or the starting point to a night out. The kitchen is currently closed, (August 2021), but should be up and running again soon.

I've been a big fan of this pub for a long time. It has a great and extensive range of beers. There's plenty of seating and they have a beer shop situated inside. Not tried the food. Staff are always helpful with suggestions.

Of all the great pubs in Liverpool City centre this has to be one of the best. Great choice of cask ales. They also have great food but I have heard that they have stopped for a short time so please check. Also choice of foreign bottled beers and a lot of whiskeys.

Great quirky pub. Massive choice of real ales, spacious, friendly, proper boozer. Old school and well worth a visit. Close to city centre too.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely beers (selection of German beers and traditional ales). If you’re ordering food go for the traditional Scouse…

Been going to this place for years for the brilliant range of ales. You can smell it as soon as you walk through the door. They happily give you a sample before you buy. They seem to of gone down the more pale Citrus hoppy type beers of recent which doesnt really appeal to my dad & I as we like the malty type ones. They used to have a great balance of both but its seems to be more aimed at the market which is selling the most,so you cant really blame them as we are just fussy buggars.I just wish there was a better balance. There are plenty of bottled beers though that probably make up for it.There is a nice atmosphere in the place with its low lighting & original gas fittings to the lamps that would of had mantles in days gone by.

Love this place. Always have...always will. Staff have changed but thats just the way it goes. I remember the good old days when the piano was at the door and the place was rocking. As I said, I love this place.

Called in for the first time with a group of friends. Its an interesting traditional style Liverpool pub with a great selection of drinks. They even had a still draught dry cider that I really enjoyed. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The toilets were rather smelly.....

Superb choice of craft beers on offer. If a great choice of beers is your thing then this is definitely the place to visit. It has a real feel of a traditional English pub. We'll cared for facilities make it an absolute treat to visit.

Saturday night. Busy but not too packed easy enough to get service of excellent real ale (their Flagship beers appreciated by me and the men of the party - something for everyone). Good home made food (small varied menu) from the hatch, served quickly.
