Usually I'll just make do but on this occasion it was too much to keep quiet. Hairs on the bed, a broken window lock, cobwebs in every corner, limescale on the shower head, hanging TV cable, dead fly squished on the wall... the list was long. They moved me from room 4 to room 5, which was better. The staff on duty that night were excellent but it's a shame nobody mentioned it when I handed over two room keys in the morning. Very tired rooms with a nice breakfast with good service.

Lovely little oasis where it's dog friendly in the rooms. Didn't have time for breakfast as we had to make a move but the atmosphere and rooms were lovely and secluded. Definitely have earmarked it for future use when staying in the Preston/Blackpool area.

It's an old home turned into a hotel which caters specifically to weddings and other large events. It was very dusty and the carpets were worn and stained. It had some cool furniture and decor and the rooms were fine. The lady who served us breakfast each morning was fabulous, really friendly and great to have a laugh with. The guy that looked after the restaurant for lunch completely forgot about us after having seated us. We had to go find him to place our order for drinks and then waited ages to give our order for food which quite frankly was just ok, nothing fantastic. We had to leave early morning and there was a wedding the night before. We got no sleep from the people partying in their room after they were kicked out of the marquee which showed no consideration on the part of the hotel management for guests who weren't involved in the wedding. In my opinion it survives because it's the only function place in the area, not because it's really good.

Had a nice two nights stay here before our week in the Lakes. Staff friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 2 which is next to the smoking area outside reception. We couldn't open the windows to air the room because of cigarette smoke. Breakfast was excellent. Great spread. The evening meal we had was good but waiting staff forgot us.

Beautiful surroundings great for walking our dogs around the bedroom was clean and spacious. The only down side was the booking in experience the receptionist was very snotty made a big song and dance about us not booking a downstairs room as we had dogs even though I emailed the hotel a week before asking about my dogs and charges and nothing was mentioned about having to pre book a lower floor room or is there on the hotels website, she made me feel embarrassed saying that she would of turned us away if there wasnt one available why this was necessary when at the end of this conversation there was three available I just think she wanted me to feel small also this same said receptionist (long brown hair) took a phone call for a restaurant booking in the middle of booking me in which I found quite rude as we hadnt finished yet, she also asked if my dogs would make a noise and bark which stunned me as this is a pet friendly hotel no need yet again to embarrass me On saying this the receptionist in the morning (different lady) was really lovely and polite even asked what perfume I was wearing (short brown hair rimless glasses)

Well, where do I start... It's taken me longer than it should to write this review, but thats because I wanted to make it perfect. Me and my Husband had our wedding reception earlier this month at this beautiful venue and our day could not of been more perfect, and thats all down to one very wonderful, caring, perfectionist Kathryn and her lovely team. There will never be enough words to describe how welcoming and brilliant this lady is. From viewing the venue, to booking, to our actual wedding day everything was perfect. Kathryn goes above and beyond to perfect the day and I genuinely mean that. I have tears of absolute joy in my eyes writing this because she made sure everything went so smoothly and did not leave for the day until she knew that her job was done. When I say you will never find another Kathryn, I mean that. This lady has the biggest heart and care for the job she does and there isn't one thing I would change about our day. The food was outstanding and nothing was ever too much trouble on the lead up to our wedding day. If you want a venue with an incredible wedding planner, a beautiful venue and amazing service, then I would wholeheartedly recommend you book The Villa Wrea Green, you will not be disappointed. I would without a doubt have our day here again if I could, but if nothing else, I will be back for the beautiful food and a Kathryn hug very very soon. Thank you team Villa.

We stayed one fir a friend's party who lives locally. A beautiful hotel on lovely grounds. We had lunch and breakfast all of which were good. The room was lovely and very clean. Staff were lovely.

We had our wedding at the Villa and honestly it was the best decision we ever made. Kathryn and the team are fab! Covid happened 4 months before our big day. We had to postpone a full year and I honestly think if it wasn’t for the incredible service from Kathryn we would have imploded. The food tasting was the most incredible night. The big day was flawless. We had our night do the year after (we were still unsure if we were going to be able get married) and we went back to the Villa for it cos we couldn’t imagine anyone else taking better care of us. Your wedding here will be unforgettable.

Dreadful rooms. No privacy. Connecting door with neighbouring room meant you could hear every whisper from next door, presumably this worked both ways. So was very conscious of every noise I made and of the din from next doors tv late at night. Room was cold and damp with a hint of mould smell, is there no heating in this hotel? Felt like a low budget Premier Inn. Small room with dingy interior nothing like the pictures on the Web site, what a con! I asked to be moved to another room due to the noise/privacy issue, but staff, though polite were unable to do anything. Staff assured me the neighbours wouldn't come into my room at night, this wasn't a possibility I had considered until then. Overall a let down, Really disappointed. Would avoid if possible in future. Thank god it was only for one night.

What an amazing hotel! Stayed here for a wedding and could not fault it at all. The staff were so helpful and friendly, the rooms were lovely and clean, the beds were very comfy and the breakfast was to die for.

Lovely hotel set in its own grounds. I booked a room-only visit for 1 night. Checking in was straightforward and quick. The room was lovely, very very comfortable bed! Spotlessly clean bathroon with a fabulous deep bath and plentiful hot water, perfect after a days driving. The heating was fully controllable and quite quiet. Courtesy tray with bottled water, tea, instant cofee and 1 hot chocolate. It woud have been nice to have decaf options and herbal tea option, pretty standard elsewhere, but I get used to taking decaf tea with me on my travels. The courtesy tray, kettle and the whole shelf they were on, could do with a good clean, but the chinaware and glasses were sparking clean. Restaurant looked comfy and the menu looked great, but I was dining out with friends, so didn't get to eat there; maybe next time.

We came for Sunday lunch. The food was okay. It was freezing cold in the restaurant. We asked to be moved table as it was so cold. We were moved to another table where I was sat on a wet chair. My pants were soaking wet. We told the staff but they didn’t seem to be bothered or check why the chair was wet. I think they thought it was me who had wet it. This certainly was not the case. When the food arrived it looked great but it was luke warm at best. We made the mistake of ordering dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was cold. The toffee sauce burnt. Could have had a nicer microwave one at home. The restaurant is screaming for a refit. It’s been like this for years. Totally stuck in the 90’s. It’s a real shame as the Villa used to be amazing. It’s like a nursing home now. It’s January. Get a fire on make it feel warm and inviting. Tell your staff to be more engaging. No one asked if the food was okay. No one even came with the bill. We had to go to the bar as all the staff were there. Very poor service. Won’t be coming again.

Went to a charity ball so we did not stay the night. Absolutely fabulous service. Well recommended

Good selection of high quality meals on offer, but it's not cheap. You can get similar at a gastro pub for less, but you don't get the higher class touches such as waiters wearing white gloves to deliver your food to the table and the wonderful surroundings. Service has been slightly let down in the past by one member of staff but, on my most recent visit, it was fine.

All 3 stars are for the bar staff and a younger guy on reception. The other woman who advised us that check in was 3pm unless we paid £25 seemed to relish the power she had. We went into the bar and had bar snacks, but at no time did anyone say the room was ready before the magic 3pm. Now I do understand that there is a limit to the number of rooms that would be ready earlier than 3pm, but after traveling for nearly 5 hours you would think a place like this that looks warm and welcoming, has such a frosty receptionist at the helm. I already know that regardless to the great service at the bar that this will be the last time we stay here. This is our second time, the first we made allowances when we went into our room and it was still filthy with the toilet having not been touched by the cleaners. We were treated well after that so decided to stay again. Our mistake. We have stayed in the nearby Villa Motel which in honesty is more hospitable than this place!!!

Stayed here on a Sunday night in November. Superb service throughout our stay. Staff are all attentive and friendly. It's a really nice place to stay. Ample parking is available. Rooms are well appointed, of decent size, and comfortable. The hotel is also dog friendly. The only place they aren't allowed is in the restaurant. We ate in the restaurant for both dinner & breakfast and weren't disappointed. Good choice of starters, mains and deserts are available. Breakfast is a mix of a cold buffet and hot breakfast cooked to order. Highly recommended, I would stay here again.

Where do I start? I arrived for check in and was met by a lady on reception who obviously thought I didn't deserve to have a state room. I must not have looked like I had money. Anyway... Was given keys and a vague description of where to go and due to seemingly like I was interrupting her day I thought I'd just go find it myself. Upon entering it looked really nice at first impression. The room looked very nice and very much like the pictures, however, upon closer inspection this is where the problems started. The carpets were stained, the chandelier was full of cob webs, the jacuzzi bath was full of black gunk and the bath matt had black fungus underneath along with the seals around the bath. The bed had crumbs in it and overall the cleanliness was below what you would expect a budget hotel to have that rents by the hour. I complained to the lady on the front desk (the pompous one) and I showed her images and she said, what am I looking at? I then pointed out that I wasn't staying in that room and reluctantly she offered me another room and to check it out. We went to the second room and although it was far better, I still would have preferred to stay somewhere else. The table was broken, the wardrobe knob came off as I opened the door, there were cobwebs on the light fixings and ceilings. I also nearly broke my neck leaving the room as the carpet was loose on the step. I tried other venues nearby but there were no vacancies so reluctantly stayed. Upon leaving we left a list with reception of the issues and it was met with more reluctance to admit inadequacies and more focus on payment for my stay. Do not stay here.... No sorry, no reduction, no nothing, just more attitude. It really appears as though they are struggling financially with the state of the place. Shame as it could be so much better!!

Lovely setting period style. Staff pleasant. Room doors are a bit noisy (banging)when closing which travels through corridors. Beds very firm. WiFi average but mobile phone signal on EE extremely poor if any at all inside.

From our very first visit to The Villa on our wedding venue search, we knew it was the place we wanted to get married. For me, it was the oldy worldy feel of the venue with the beams in the Hall and the fairy lights that really swayed it. It’s difficult not to be impressed by the beautiful grounds and impressive driveway. We found Kathryn to be very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating throughout our wedding planning journey. Nothing was too much trouble when we reached out to her. She brought everything together for us on the day seamlessly and to perfection. The team at The Villa worked very hard in the background making sure everything went smoothly for us on our big day. It was during our wedding planning journey that Kathryn won the Wedding Co-ordinator of The Year Award at the North West Wedding Awards 2023, and it’s very clear to see that this was a well deserved award. Nothing phases her, even when you catch her out by asking for something that she’s never come across before, she reacts as though she’s dealt with that particular scenario a million times before. We would definitely recommend The Villa and Kathryn very highly; if you contact Kathryn about having your wedding at The Villa you will definitely not be disappointed!

My partner and I stayed over two nights, attending a wedding on site on the second day. Although we had some issues with the first room we were given, when we brought these up with reception we were quickly moved to another room and our concerns were recorded and taken very seriously. We very much enjoyed our stay. Food in the restaurant was lovely and all of the staff we came into contact with were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The wedding was a brilliant day and again managed very well by all involved. The location is great with a short walk into the village. Overall some aspects of the decor are a little tired, however these things are forgiven by the great work of all the staff! Definitely recommend.

17 of us went to the Villa Wrea Green for our parents' joint birthday celebrations on the 19th. John, Ian and Angela as well as all of the other staff working were amazing, so lovely and hospitable. We had to push our booking to later in the evening which they accommodated, even though it was going to be more hassle for them. They set us up in a private room with a kids table and adults table which worked really well. We had a problem with a couple of dishes which were resolved straight away. We were quite a rowdy group (apologies!) and really appreciate the patience and hospitality from all of the staff. Would definitely recommend!

Stayed at this beautiful hotel for my sons wedding. The staff were just fantastic, nothing was to much trouble. We stayed in the Balmoral suite which was so comfy and had every amenity we could ever need .

Good value for money. Clean and comfortable. Good choice of breakfast, although not good value unless included in the room rate. Nice grounds, does a lot of weddings

I was really impressed with the setting absolutely perfect for a wedding. The only downside and this is constructive the journey from the over flow car park has no proper lighting to the main building which could be a real trip hazard in the pitch black. With Covid I would have expected staff to be wearing masks but non was. No Covid precautions at all. Even the DJ had us holding hands and encouraging close contact games. The Chips at night were fatty but I’m told the food for the wedding was excellent. This is only a minor criticism as the staff were nice and friendly. If my daughter wanted to get married here I would certainly be happy as it’s a lovely place 👍

Went for a friend's birthday party, had a private dining room which was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Food and service excellent as always and felt very safe with COVID measures in place. See you next year

Arrived for a late check-in and as we arrived we saw Johnny Vegas who was having a laugh with some other patrons. Room was clean and comfortable and had air conditioning. Full English breakfast was cooked to perfection and the service I received was excellent.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. First impressions weren't brilliant, we arrived at 2pm wondering if our room was ready to check in. I acknowledged the fact check in wasn't till 3pm but also told the lady on reception I was happy to pay any fee to get the key now. I explained we had a evening wedding we needed to get ready for. Even before checking if my room was ready the lady told me check in isn't until 3pm and told us to come back then. At 2:55pm I made my way to the reception desk to check in. There was 2 couples ahead of me. She asked for their names and rang up to housekeeping to check if the rooms we're ready but no surprise they weren't. With 5 minutes until check in I'd expect the rooms to be ready by now especially with check out at 11am. We were next in queue and even without asking our names she told us that we had 5 minutes till check in even though previously she told us the rooms will probably be ready before 3pm. Dead on 3pm like a military operation she allowed us to check in. We went up to the room and thought it was pretty clean other than the toilet which wasn't at all. I'd expect the rooms to be spotless considering the amount of time they have to clean them. On a positive note the rooms were nice, and the bed was very comfortable. On check out a different lady was behind reception and was very polite. I've been to hundreds of different hotels for both business and social reasons and I've never heard of such a strict check in time.

We got married at The Villa in May 2022. Kathryn was amazing from start to finish. Even helping me with my dress on the day! Would highly recommend The Villa to anyone looking to get married. The venue is perfect. The staff are so friendly. Thank again to Kathryn and all the staff. We had the BEST day ever

We had afternoon tea at the Villa yesterday afternoon. The food was amazing, and the pastry chef should be congratulated on the beautiful cakes and pastries they served. This is our second year of coming for a birthday treat, and feel it will become an annual one. Many thanks to all the staff as well. Polite and efficient. Thank you all

We had our wedding here in August, and cannot fault anything about this place. Nothing was too much trouble, and Kathryn ensured that our wedding day went smoothly from start to finish. In the run up, we stayed here and dined here a few times and it was always superb. We would not hesitate recommend The Villa for weddings and nights away.

A stunning country hotel with lovely views and location. There are bunnies hopping about the grounds and birds tweeting away. Absolutely idyllic. It is a superb venue for weddings. There were minor issues with poorly trained staff but I am sure this will be rectified. Meals are lovely, but we had the same menu every night so very limited choice after a couple of days. Parking is free and plentiful. The bar is well stocked, but the Indian gentleman serving was unaware of the ingredients for a Pimms cocktail. This was related to me by another resident. The breakfast table was cleared of its contents before residents had finished eating this morning - not very professional and one lady had her meal cleared away while she went to make toast returning to find everything piled on top of her breakfast that she was eating.

Had Afternoon Tea for my 90 year old aunt this afternoon, it was delicious and beautifully presented. The sandwiches were so fresh and the pastries exquisite. Compliments to the chef and all you staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this little gem of a place.

After a really long day we finally arrived at just shy of 11pm. Despite the late hour every single member of staff could not have done more for us. They were friendly and a credit to the hotel. We’d definitely stay again just for the way we were treated. That said we were also impressed how clean and comfortable our room was. We couldn’t fault the place or it’s amazing staff

The hotel is on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Wrea Green. Car parks are spread around the hotel grounds including disabled. Children and dog friendly hotel with lots a areas to have a nice stroll. We went for afternoon tea which is lovely especially the chocolate cake, hot meals are also served. Excellent friendly customer service. Will definitely be back soon.

Myself and my husband booked a last minute overnight stay to watch the Blackpool air show. Even later our family joined us unexpectedly. We asked if the Villa could accommodate our late addition, absolutely no problem. Front of house (Ian) found us the perfect little niche for all now seven to dine together for some much needed family time. The food, accomodation and most importantly the welcome was perfect. Thank you. family time addition, most importantly
