I would have really loved to give a positive review here, but after my recent dealings with the hotel, it's safe to say I won't ever be visiting through choice after the appalling customer service I have received (or not received I should say!) from the hotel manager. Gift voucher bought for a very special birthday, expired last year, under no circumstances can it be honoured for my booking in October this year even though two additional paying guests were supposed to come along too, had to chase the hotel for an answer after being told the hotel manager would call me within 24 hours and a firm 'NO' with absolutely no negotiation for an alternative option. Not impressed at all considering the circumstances we have all faced over the last 18 months. On a positive note, Olivia from dining reservations was a delight to deal with, it's a shame the same can't be said for management!

One of the worst meals I’ve had. The steak both me and my guest ordered were pink and very tough, we ordered medium and they were definitely not. The staff were not very friendly and to be honest did not seem well trained. At almost £100 for two steaks we would definitely expect better. The quality of the food was horrible. To expand. They took a drink order from my guest but forgot about myself until I asked them for a drink. We have to ask them for steak knifes.. when my guest complained to the manger that he had asked for his steak to be cooked medium and both are steaks were tough and not medium he replied staying the chef suggests the steak to be medium, both me and my guest looked at each other in pure confusion as anybody could see neither of the steaks were cooked to medium.. one really annoying part was when we were done three different members of staff came up and asked us what was wrong with our meal.. so weird and just not professional. They did remove the 12.5% service charge .. but I’m still thoroughly disappoint, the bill came to £130 for two starters, two steaks and one beer..

From the moment we walked through the front door the welcome was friendly and consistent throughout our stay. The staff clearly take pride in and enjoy their customer care. Room service was also efficient. Valentino was an exceptional host in the stunning Estate grill restaurant and elevated our experience with a wonderful history of valentines day and how people in the old days where forbidden to love.

Looks great, falls short where it counts. I probably would have rated the hotel itself if it weren't for a bad experience at the onsite grill. Our first room, the AC didn't work. Our second room the lights flickered constantly, the sunroofs didn't open, the floor creaked everywhere like your grandmother's attic, and the shower was cold for 10 full minutes. The grounds are lovely. Truly looks amazing even in the rain when we were there. The grounds and building look VERY luxurious. The staff was ambivalent and lacking.

Starting with the very warm & helpful front staff. Specially Kazi helped us throughout from the beginning to end . Helped my handicapped mother to get inside the Hotel, to find the ladies also get in the car at the end . Bless him. Excellent garden views. Other staffs were all very pleasant too. We used to live on this road and stayed at the hotel for a week for the Hampton Court Flower Show and to visit old haunts and friends before. This time was for the afternoon tea . It was little slow service but enjoyed.

Spent a long weekend with family. One of the best stays we have had in the UK. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests. The hotel is amazing, the outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi are great for nearly any weather, and the gardens are breathtaking. Short drive from London. Can't wait to go back.

(+) • Service was very good! The guys at the bar are super nice and friendly. • The hotel is beautiful; nice terraces, bars, and gardens. • EV chargers available (-) • The breakfast was massively underwhelming and it’s not worth £20 whatsoever. • The spa was fully booked on Saturday and shutdown on Sunday which doesn’t make any sense. • Pillows are super uncomfortable and too high, I couldn’t sleep well.

Quite simply...stunning. An imposing Elizabethan lodge which has been sympathetically extended to produce a wonderful mid sized country house hotel. The heated outdoor pool gives you childhood nostalgia (in a good way) and the sprawling formal gardens ebb away the stresses of every day life. Attentive service in the restaurants and a lovely vibe in the cocktail lounge. The latest edition to the Alexander House Hotel portfolio takes it from strength to strength.

My husband and Irecently had the pleasure of staying one night at Great Fosters hotel. Nestled near the heart of Windsor, this historical gem of a hotel left an indelible mark on us with its impeccable service and charming ambiance. From the moment we stepped through the small “door-in-a-door” we were immediately captivated by the enchanting and historical interior that exuded classical English charm. It was clear that great effort was taken to restore/preserve its history yet it still achieved the expectations for modern comforts. We were quite hungry the day we arrived and requested tea and we were escorted to a charming and secluded tearoom to our delight. The tea service was excellent and was a wonderful start to our stay. Afterwards, we took a stroll in the gorgeous gardens of the hotel and then retired to our room to rest before dinner. Our room was a blend of traditional and contemporary décor with a mix of antique furniture and modern amenities that provided us with a comfortable and relaxing space. It also had a scenic view of the amazing garden and grounds, which we truly enjoyed. To top off our stay, we ate at The Tudor Pass that is located in the hotel, which was absolutely outstanding. Great Fosters was truly a tranquil retreat where we were able to unwind and appreciate the beauty of an English estate and we wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend Great Fosters for anyone seeking an unforgettable, beautiful and historical hotel with excellent service and amenities.

I had standard room. It was clean but quite small. There was enough space to walk around a bed and fit in small desk and side table. Bathroom also very small but clean. Iron and ironing board was in the room. Very handy. Rooms are in various buildings on the site and had to walk through courtyard to get to mine. Nice place to stay if you like traditional British Hotels but I would recommend choosing superior rooms for space. To enter the hotel you need to use tiny doors. Cute, but not very practical if you carry a suitcase.

We've just returned from a truly perfect weekend at Great Fosters. Our stay was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving us with such special memories. We stayed in the stunning Panel II Suite and felt like King & Queen! The grounds are so beautiful, we explored for hours, it felt very private and we found the perfect spot for a picnic before heading to the pool for an afternoon of relaxation and a dip in the heated pool. For dinner, we treated ourselves tp the 7-course tasting menu at The Tudor Pass, this was an experience we won't forget. Alex deserves his Michelin star and I have no doubt he will continue to rise. Thank you to all the team for a magical weekend getaway!

Stunning hotel, with hundreds of years of history. Beautiful grounds. Delicious Sunday lunch, with two good slabs of beef, roast parsnip, roast potatoes, carrots, greens, cauliflower cheese and a big Yorkshire pudding.

Last week a friend, who lives in Windsor she suggested having a coffee and pastry at Great Fosters while I was in town, delighted to have had the opportunity to see this magical place. Please stay or stop by. Great Fosters, a five-star hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant, offers a treat for all five senses. Nestled within its Tudor estate are incredible gardens that captivate visitors with their horticultural splendor. Meticulously shaped garden hedges resemble works of art, while the presence of a Saxon moat serves as a poignant reminder of the historical significance of this grand home. Additionally, the gardens reveal other well-preserved and unexpected gems, further enhancing the charm and allure of this remarkable destination. Whether indulging in a cup of coffee or tea or booking one of their amazing rooms, the experience at Great Fosters is sure to delight. Thanks for the recommendation Amy!

Visited Great Fosters for an afternoon tea. Welcomed at the door and shown to the very homely afternoon room. We were shown to the last table available, which denotes its popularity. Made our choice of hot drink and then delighted in a glass of champagne as our beautifully arrayed tea tower was put before us. Sandwiches, scones, patisseries all perfect. The icing on the cake was a gentle stroll around the amazing gardens. Knott gardens, Saxon moats, sunken tea Garden, rustic arched wooden Bridge over reflective water. You need to see it in person to appreciate what dedication and love has been spent on this place.

I came for afternoon tea and the grounds are beautiful however it was very expensive and absolutely not worth the price. The sandwiches were dry and the cakes were far too sweet. We were seated in our own room which was lovely but it meant that the service tended to be a bit slower as if we had been forgotten. They were using the corner of our room to store extra chairs which is just a minor gripe but it did make it feel a little downgraded. A pleasant enough experience had it not been for the price for which I expected better.

Went for afternoon tea, the food was great; the sandwiches were completely delicious and more were provided when we devoured them rather quickly. The scones light, and the cakes were fantastic. The tea menu has become smaller, but there were a couple of types we hadn't had before that we tried. One negative, despite booking in for a specific time, the service was very slow, 45 minutes for food to arrive and 25 minutes for the tea! Don't ask for a coffee, though... the wait was worse. It was great coffee, but my husband was convinced they had to be waiting for the beans to arrive at Heathrow as it took so long to get to our table. Having said that, the staff were pleasant and helpful... just not very speedy. Disabled access is not clearly signposted and while it must be accessible by law... I'm not sure if I'd used my wheelchair I'd have made it in. There are no disabled parking spaces marked out.

Chaotic spa day. The hotel is lovely, food wonderful and staff couldn’t be nicer (though were sparsely allocated), the spa treatments themselves were also fantastic - however - when you book a spa day, you’re looking to relax, and having to chase for every aspect of a package (and still not receiving some of them) is not what we were hoping for. I note to their credit we were immediately offered a future use voucher on some of the aspects we’d missed/had to pay ourselves. I’d recommend the individual elements (lunch, spa treatments) - as long as you’re not in a hurry - but if you’re looking to just relax and be taken care of, this place just wasn’t as organised as we’d expect for the cost of the package. I wouldn’t recommend anyone book “A day in the country”. Also - as a warning the tennis rackets for borrowing lacked a grip and had dead strings, and you’ll pay for the taxis out of pocket despite them being in the package.

This is an exceptionally beautiful hotel. We only came here for a meal but it was very lovely and relaxing sitting overlooking the fountain. Staff were very friendly and professional. The grounds are stunning and sprawling. Modern sculptures against the traditional topiary and gardens contrast so well. Dog friendly. Lots of parking spaces. A hidden gem.

Wow! Stayed here many times over the years and Great Fosters keeps getting better and better. The rooms, the service and the building are just amazing. We had just come from a tour around France visiting the chateaux and gardens in the Loire, but the gardens and building here are in the same league. If you want a unique hotel experience that’s convenient to both Heathrow and Windsor, forget the boring Marriott and other chains - make sure you check out Great Fosters!

Amazing venue and everyone should experience it. However rooms old and dated (partly excusable as built in 1500). Not excusable was distinctly average (being kind) food in main restaurant and entry level staff in all areas. Of the dozen or so staff interacted with only 3 or 4 were of an acceptable level of competence.

What a hotel ,16th century Manor House, we were told it was Henry Viii hunting lodge. Rear gardens are beautifully laid out, with a moat. The wooden bridge covered in wisteria looks amazing. We ate in the The Tudor Pass what an experience, 7 course food festival. Chefs come out on each course to explain the dishes which was a nice touch. The food was amazing . Drinks were not expensive. There's a spa and swimming pool. It is a pricey but I think you get what you pay for Staff were attentive and polite, nothing to much trouble. A definite special occasion hotel, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing historic building beautiful gardens and swimming pool with sunbathing area. But quite expensive, there is a service charge on each bill, I do not mind this but only if services will be provided. So in the restaurant with service charges you expect what at least the wine will be pored by the waiting staff...

We chose this venue for our wedding and we’re so glad that we did. Great Fosters could not have been any more accommodating, particularly with the multiple date changes caused by covid. The team consistently provided excellent service throughout and always responded to our messages quickly. The outdoor spaces are stunning, as is the building itself. The food was some of the tastiest we’d ever eaten and we can’t wait to go back and hopefully eat it again. Our guests loved the food too. Our wedding coordinator Andrew was fabulous, very professional and easily answered all of our questions and made it feel like nothing was impossible. We had some very specific requests for some of our guests meals and these were all met with no problems at all. The waiters/waitresses/bar staff were highly professional and personable. Our suite was fantastic, we enjoyed all of the decor, space, the record player, the gardens and more. The breakfast was divine too. Thank you to Andrew, Poppy and all of the staff at Great Fosters. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back in the future again. J+S

An absolutely gorgeous building with beautiful gardens. We had a taster lunch menu which was fantastic. Excellent hosts and service, couldn’t have asked for more. Shame about the power cut at the end!

We would like to say a huge thank you to Gabor who resolved an issue we had with extending our afternoon tea gift voucher after we had to cancel our original reservation due to a family emergency….he was so helpful, an absolute pleasure to deal with and has really restored our faith in Great Fosters ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A true gem in Surrey area. The place is absolutely amazing, very well looked after. Members of staff are very professional and friendly. Had a fantastic dinner, food is fresh and beautifully served. Great selection of wines. The place has so much character, feels like it takes you back in time. Beautiful labyrinth situated in the garden. The only minus place is close to highway, so if time spend in the garden it might get a bit noisy. Would come back for another weekend stay.

absolutely wonderful! excellent afternoon tea treat with tea and sandwich top ups. What makes this place so special is probably how lovely all the staff are.. efficient yet so kind and friendly, happy help any time with a smile. What more a customer can want; great service, great atmosphere. (ps: garden is beautiful with lots of stunning modern sculptures) Thank you!

Second Time Visit and Just Fab! My Room had an air cooler But i wasn't too fussed. Had a great Old days room and it was just Great. My last visit was a smaller room so this time they have upgraded me free and room speaks for itself. Usual Garden and Pool was over whelming this time. So we just managed to choose the right time to visit. all staff was great xx

Stunning hotel! We had afternoon tea, then spent a few minutes walking around the grounds. It was fun spotting the pieces of artwork everywhere. The afternoon tea was wonderful. We only stayed one night, but the service both at the hotel and the restaurant was amazingly friendly and prompt. The bed was, unfortunately, sloped quite dramatically back towards the pillows so we ended up sleeping ‘upside down’. It’s a very old hotel, so we understand.

Afternoon Tea Review Definitely not worth the money, there are so many other places where you can go for afternoon tea thats much better. Firstly the room we were in was dark and had a horrible musky smell to it, we then asked to change table to an area where its more light and they said they can't as the table is set for 3 not 4!!! I mean how long does it take to add a plate and teacup. The service was slow and when the sandwiches did come the bread was super dry, never experienced anything like it. It's just not worth £35/£37

What a special hotel this is, every part of the hotel and gardens are sensational and the poolside is very chilled with great music through the afternoon. I didn't dine, however, I know that one of the restaurants is in the top 50 UK - breakfast was fresh and incredibly delicious. I specially want to mention the services of Abdi, Bishan and Toni for their night manager services and after hour G&Ts which just hit the spot!! We will be staying there many more times. If you are staying take the time to explore and enjoy the gardens, bars and restaurants. One of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of visiting.

Once we arrived at Great Fosters everyone was so welcoming and lovely. We came here for afternoon tea and it was delicious and in a lovely setting. The service was fantastic, special thank you to Larissa (I hope I got her name correctly) and Daniel for hosting us. Also a special thank you to the doorman (sorry didn’t get his name) and Adam, and Alex for touring us around the hotel. The grounds are stunning and there’s a lot to see and walk around, we really enjoyed it. Thank you so much to everyone, we will definitely be back here to stay as it was so lovely and the bedrooms are beautifully historic with a lot of the building being kept as it originally was built as!

We had a voucher for lunch. Drove out to arrange a day to book it only to learn the chef had left and the restaurant was currently closed. Staff could not have been more apologetic or handled it better. Chris front of house was great. The location is perfect, the house spectacular, steeped in history. Couple of coffees and a walk in the garden around the moat and we were cool with the whole thing.

The most stunning hotel with the most gorgeous grounds. Absolute gem of a location. The afternoon tea was phenomenal and service delightful such nice staff. Took some amazing photos for us. The chef even topped us with complimentary sandwiches and some desserts. Would love to visit again was 10/10 highly recommend have to walk around the grounds after you tea

A very good spa day but nothing to do with the actual spa. The staff at the pool Tony and Matt were lovely; very kind and attentive, they provided excellent service and are really good at their jobs. The pool area is beautiful and luckily the weather was hot so it felt like a holiday. The hotel receptionist whose name I didn't get but had lovely eye make up and an Australian/NZ accent was great, super friendly and genuine. The spa experience was very underwhelming. The therapist doing my treatments appeared to be in a bad mood until my treatments were over. She made no conversation with me on the walk over to the spa and when I tried to talk to her she didn't respond. I had a 55 minute massage and 55 minute facial and by the time she left the room only 90 minutes has passed, so 20 minutes of treatment just never happened. I have had a lot of treatments in a lot of spas around the world and I have never had a massage where the therapist didn't ask what kind of pressure I would like or if I have any areas of concern. She didn't even ask if the pressure she was applying was okay (I could barely feel it). At no point, did she massage my arms or hands so it just felt unfinished. For my facial, she didn't ask what skin type I had in order to customise it, again, something I've never experienced before in my life. I've also never had a facial that didn't include a shoulder and chest massage while the mask is applied. While the mask was applied she very very gently rubbed my face over the top of the towel that was on my forehead. It was quite a weird feeling to be honest. I left the spa with a very thick residue of product on my face that I had to wash off in the bathroom because it was in chunks all over my face. I would definitely come back here again, but only for the pool experience, for the price I paid the spa was very unsatisfactory
