Let’s address the elephant in the room.. this place doesn’t look much from the outside but it makes up for it on the inside. I recently came here for a wedding and spent the night. Regarding the wedding I couldn’t fault the effort they put in, they went above and beyond and really made it a special day for everyone there not just the bride and groom. The overnight stay was also brilliant. The bed is super comfy, the water pressure in the bathroom will skin a cat and they put plenty of extras in the room (the shower gel smells beautiful). The only reason I’m giving 4* and not 5 is partly because of the check in times. The whole venue was hired out but we couldn’t check in until 15:00 (the wedding started at 13:00) but why? When we checked in they couldn’t find our room key. After a few mins of waiting they gave it to us and we went to the room. Upon entering the room it was clear as day this had been used.. bed sheets ruffled where the bed has been used, wet towels over the floor, other peoples clothes in the bedroom. This wasn’t acceptable! It turned out two people who stayed the night before the wedding had this room and because people arrived from 11:30 with no where to get ready as you weren’t able to check in until 15:00 they got ready in this “spare” room. I feel the staff should have checked it before we went in after struggling to find the key. That aside I’m sure it’s an uncommon issue but it’s enough to loose that top star. Would recommend this venue for any occasion and my friend said they do a mean roast dinner!

Rooms are fine but service is non-existent. No o e at reception, ever. When you check in, you get a code for a key safe, but if your company books you in there then the person that did the booking gets the codes. We had 7 people staying there and when I phoned for the code, the guy started sighing loudly and moaning that he'd sent it to someone already. No one makes up the room and if you get locked out, you have a loooong wait for any assistance.

Such a great venue. Warm and cosy! If your taller than 5ft 8 be ready to duck as theres some low veams and doorways!! All adds to the charm though

Well, where do I start, first of all the bathroom and toilet was full of damp and the bath panel and door was rotting, secondly the room was infested with beatles with one of the little sh#t trying to sleep with me at 3 in the morning, and yes I do have photo's to prove. As for the owners after my complaint the next morning and me asking to be moved rooms, there didn't seem to want to help in any way, very very unhelpful, in the end the I booked into another hotel and got a refund on my remaining stay. IN A NUT SHELL GIVE THIS HOTEL A WIDE BIRTH. IF I COULD GIVE IT A ZERO I WOULD

Stayed here while my truck was in renault being repaired overnight, friendly staff food was enjoyable.

Was at a wedding weekend. Fabulous time. Food , service, great. Recommend a few pints of poachers beer. Very palatable for a discerning beer drinker. Just one thing try stocking a wee dram decent scot single malt

A good size carpark, Friendly check in most info given, room a good size as was bathroom WiFi was good Bed comfortable No breakfast included Evening menu 4 items and most draught beer had run out ! And not much else around to walk too ! Its on a busy road but close to back roads so some nice walks and running spots Would stay again but definitely eat else where first.!

My daughter Sarah Jane and Ian booked poachers for their special day from start to finish this was a fantastic experience the staff both friendly and professional nothing was to much they went above and beyond and a very special mention to Chloe the new manager only held this position for four weeks but the attention to detail was fantastic you made Sarah and Ian wedding day a day to remember for all who shared there day my wife and myself thankyou and I thankyou for you compassion and kindness as a very proud but nervous dad. We found the rooms clean and well equipped with coffee and toiletries and the king bed were very comfy after a long enjoyable day

Went to a wedding there, the organisation was very good and the food excellent, however the drinks were quite pricey, but overall a lovely experience

Stayed for a business trip visit, staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and beds were comfy.

Superb evening attending a charity ball. The staff were polite, professional and provided great service. The food was absolutely superb and was served swiftly & hot. Would thoroughly recommend. Fabulous venue.

We stayed here for a few nights while doing some house hunting, the hotel was ideal location for us, the rooms are clean and well appointed. The bar is well stocked and the signature Ale is worth trying. The owners are also very friendly and accommodating. I can only imagine what it's like for a wedding venue but would def reccommend.

Surreal stay here. Had the whole hotel to ourselves, not a staff member in sight all evening or in the morning. Room great. Price good.
