The food is very good and staff are very amicable. We had Fish & Chips and Shrimp & Scallops Pasta. Everything was very delicious. The flavor of the fish was very good including the batter, which was very crispy and well seasoned. I had fish & chips all over the US but this one was one of the best. And shrimp & scallops pasta was little spicy and very tender and mouthwatering. We loved the place would visit once again if we go to Boston again.

Over 100 years old own by the same family. Really good food, nice beer selection, great ambiance, and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable too.

I come here on a regular weekday for lunch as I work just a block over. I have had everything on the lunch menu. But today I had the French Dip Sandwich. Let me tell you about this sandwich. Roast beef cooked perfectly on a toasted sub roll. The cheese melted perfectly along with caramelized onions between the melted cheese and roast beef. Alone this sandwich is delicious. But once you dip it into the beef au jus, absolutely to die for. Bartender Mike told me to go for it and I believed him not to do me wrong. This sandwich truly is amazing. The atmosphere is also great for a nice bar you want to go for lunch and have some simple drinks during or after dinner. Anyone that wants a roast beef I highly recommend getting the French Dip sandwich.

Authentic Irish pub in Boston, the Sheppardโ€™s pie special was amazing and even on a slammed night my bartender was friendly and gave some recommendations for my visit

It's a very warm & intimate environment . I felt it's crowded. The beef skewers taste good but a bit salty. Chicken skewers is tough. The Mac cheese balls are delicious. It is good for a smaller crowd. I definitely go back sometime.

Foley's is hands down the best Irish pub in Boston! We reached out to Foley's for our Wedding Day 2 Celebration, and they were nothing but welcoming and friendly right from the start. As many of our family and friends were traveling over from Ireland and the UK, we wanted to have our Day 2 Celebration at an authentic Irish pub that made them feel like home. Foley's is exactly that, and everyone absolutely loved it!! Mike, Jeremiah, and the whole Foley family are kind, accommodating, and family-friendly! Highly recommend for a great atmosphere, delicious food, and great pints!!

St Patrick's Day '23. Wait 30 min. to pounce on vacated seating. Many others and I sit at dirty tables for over an hour waiting for any waitstaff to come within shouting distance to bus dirty dishes, and take order. Still waiting... Drink and App order taken along with my card (up front) about 15 minutes ago. Still no drink (or app.)... Going to go to the bar with cash. They closed the kitchen before 9 with no warning so no dinner after the app. Here from 6-9+ and couldn't even order dinner. Took 2 hours to get served. Yes it was St Pat's but won't be back. O'Connor's in Worcester is 3x the size and capacity and their service puts this place to shame. Worth the drive, but get there and home safely & responsibly.

Came in for St Patrick's day. Obviously not a run of the mill day service wise. Staff were flat out but were still helpful and attentive. Food was great after a few pints of Guinness

The food is excellent. My friends and I had the bacon tots and I had Smithwicks. Excellent customer service. The bartenders were Irish that was cool. This is the oldest Irish bar in Boston. The area, though, yikes! Just lock your doors. Otherwise, great bar. I would return next time I'm in Massachusetts.

My family and I come here every year for a Christmas lunch. We have been coming for years. Unfortunately this year will be the last as our service on Saturday the 2nd was the worst I have ever experienced. We arrived at about 2pm with a party of 7. We waited to order until everyone in our party arrived. We all ordered at the same time. About 20 minutes later, 4 meals arrive. We politely try to wait until the other meals arrive but it starts to be a while. After about 10 minutes the waitress says she will check on the other meals. She comes back and says somehow they were placed on a different ticket and would be out shortly. Maybe another 10 minutes later she arrives with 1 meal and tells our two other guests that no one told her they ran out of meatballs and would have to pick something else from the menu. This now had to have been at least 45 minutes from when we all first ordered. If you are out of a product, that's fine it happens but tell the customer when they order or when you give the order to the kitchen, not 45 minutes later, after everyone else has received their meals. The two other meals are ordered and must take another 20 minutes to arrive. You would think those two orders would be placed on a rush but apparently not. It was not that busy in there, it was about 3:15pm by this time. When we finally got the check, we politely asked the waitress to remove the two meals that arrived over an hour after they were ordered and significantly later than the other orders. She went to get the manager, or another employee, he never introduced himself. He just said "so what's the problem here?" We explained what happened, his reply was "well we ran out of meatballs earlier today"- completely missing the point! He didn't even apologize. He said best I can do is take off one of the entrees. We accepted as we did not want to argue. We would have appreciated an apology or at least some form of taking responsibility. He was extremely cold to us. The whole experience left us all with such a bad taste in our mouths. I work in the food industry- I get that mistakes happen, products run out, items are misplaced but you at least have to own up to it and treat the customer the right way to make up for it. We are extremely disappointed and will never return.

Omg I love JJ Foleys Cafe. We've been 4 times now and still can't wait to go back again. From the french dip, salads, soup or steak, it's all amazing! And our favorite dessert ever is the hot sticky toffee cake. 100% 10 stars. Love! Oh and the atmosphere is great for date night, a group get together or just watching a game.

Our favorite place in Boston. Hands down the best food....and desserts! And drinks. Everything really.

Great welcoming vibe. All of the workers are from the Foley family. They welcome you with a smile. It's nice relaxing family-owned place to grab drinks. If you're going there to chat with friends or have a conversation, make sure you sit in the quiet section (first door) and not the loud one (second door).

Last minute decision for a quick dinner. Close walk from our hotel after a long day. I was on the fence after reading a few poor reviews. We had great service from the bar tender. Atmosphere was perfect even with my two teenagers. Make sure you check out the Cafe menu vs bar menu. Lots of selections. Clam chowder was delicious, way better then some tourist traps in town. 5 star recommend!

Delicious fish and chips. A delicious black and tan. Top-notch, friendly service. It was exactly the kind of chill Irish pub I was looking for.

We love this place. It's dark and cozy. They have some of the best, biggest nachos in the city.

I loved this place! The bartender (and staff) were friendly ... almost a family atmosphere, really. Good Irish beer and the clam chowder was great. Plus, the carved wood details, ceiling tiles, etc., really warm the atmosphere. This is a great place for either family's or a more intimate table for two.

I ate there today with my daughter for the first time. I got the seafood platter and my daughter got the truffle mac & cheese. We were both extremely satisfied with the food. The service was also excellent. Great place I will definitely be going back.

Foley's is a Boston institution. Gerry and his boys run a tight ship serving up cold beer and good food. If you visit Boston and don't stop in you've missed out. Not only is Gerry a pro behind the bar he can tell you the story and history of the area and all the characters. It's a must visit and if you live in the neighborhood make it your go to spot!

Great old pub, we got fish and chips and Mr Foley's favorite burger and they were both excellent. Fries, onion rings, and coleslaw were great too. If I was a local I'd come here all the time.

We happened upon this place after visiting the SoWa open market and had a lovely mother's day lunch. The service was really good, the waiter offered my mother a sampler of beer when she couldn't decide, which was really helpful and she loved the ones he suggested. We split the pizzaiolo steak sandwich which was absolutely delicious. Plenty of leftovers too!

The food was excellent, once we were able to get to a table. Very crazy on St. Patrick's Day; the staff was doing their best, but very crowded and slow to get food or drink, but well worth it when we did. Got the Foley Fireball and Duck Poutine Fries, as well as an excellent Shepard's pie. Would highly recommend... Just maybe pick a less busy night.

We stopped in for lunch and so so good. I had bowl of excellent clam chowder, full of clams and seasoned perfectly. So big, I couldn't finish it. Hubby had the fish and chips (3 large pieces of fish) with fabulous French fries and coleslaw. The cider and beer were perfect. Whole meal was $42, we were so full and very satisfied. Recommend highly.

This place seems very popular as I live close by and Iโ€™ve seen a few people stumbling out, someone told me that had some good wings, so me being me I asked well were you drinking at the time because anything tastes good when youโ€™re drinking, but nevertheless I went and bought the wings they werenโ€™t good good but they were ok, now the burgers are on another level with the fried organic egg on top and bacon, Umm umm good, but this establishment isnโ€™t very diverse but the people are nice.

Food is very consistent here and drinks are pretty reasonable considering for Boston bar. This is very causal but not dirty divvy. Friendly staff. A must were their tater tots! If you want to get a seat and table on Thurs, Fridays and Saturdays, it's best to come before the crowds, so before 8pm is good

Sat for 5-10 minutes at the bar while the bartender chatted with a couple with his mask around his chin. He never once glanced at the door, his bar, or his other patron. After his conversation, he STILL didn't check his bar, so I left and went to Biddy Early's where I was greeted warmly.
