I can honestly say that this is a place that should not be open to the public. Went here with a group for a birthday and we were severely mistreated and underwhelmed. Our server was very kind and caring but the actual service we received was abysmal. First round of drinks took about a half hour and our appetizers an hour and a half. Two members of our party had to leave because they really needed to eat and it was clear that everything here took it’s time hitting the table. Looking around the dining room it was clear that just about everyone was having the same experience. Would have gladly had multiple rounds of drinks each and really enjoyed ourselves if this establishment would feel up to that. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. The birthday girl received a drink (after a long wait) that had a piece of glass in it. Finally the time came for us to order our dinner. 20 minutes after doing so we were informed that they were out of some of the dishes we had ordered. Usually no big deal but it was very disheartening that in that time span the kitchen hadn't even begun our order. By the time our entrees came out (2 hours and 15 minutes into this waking nightmare) they were wrong, overcooked, or inedible. The pasta here is served in a puddle of lukewarm water. The steaks are all cooked to different temperatures than you request. The pork chop is aggressively salty. I took some time to talk to the management here and just tell them about our experience and give some feedback. I was unbelievably shocked at the confrontational, defensive, rude, and all together insanity of the response I was met with. I was first told that they had just reopened a couple weeks ago post covid. I am very sympathetic to this however the night we had was beyond the pale. If this is how your restaurant is going to treat guests then close either forever or when you have some semblance of hospitality and can give a decent time to those who spend their money here. I was then told that we were being abusive to our server and cursing at them. I told the manager I really didn't know what they were referring to and that I was sorry if it came across that way. I was asked what could be done to make everything right and was shocked. Literally do anything. Of course this place is run by charlatans seeing as how none of the inedible food and lukewarm or incorrect drinks were comped or taken care of. I couldn't speak to them any longer as it felt like they just wanted to escalate the situation and not talk about what had happened. I do not know on a human level how this place can with a clear conscience take money from people. Please avoid it at all costs. Long waits. Bad food. Even worse staff.

My friends and I recently took a visit on a Friday night to enjoy some oysters and cocktails. The ambiance radiated sophistication, and despite the back of the bar buzzing with pool players, the spacious main dining room presented ample seating, offering a sense of intimacy amid the lively atmosphere. But what truly accentuated our experience was the live band, serenading the room with classic jazz renditions and pop remixes. Their melodies, both soothing and energetic, painted the backdrop for a memorable evening. Diving into the menu, the coastal oysters were a solid hit. The cheese platter also came in generous portions with a wide selection of East Coast cheeses, all complemented by grapes, crackers, and a drizzle of honey. For cocktails, we tried the Carrie’s Espresso and Smoked Old Fashioned, and both were good. A bit on the sweet side, but still enjoyable nonetheless. Carrie Nation offers not just a meal, but a unique and vibrant social experience - a delightful blend of ambiance, live music, and good cocktails . It's a treasure trove that promises and delivers an unforgettable evening.

I recently visited this cocktail bar, and I must say, I was blown away by my experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. In particular, my waiter was outstanding. They went above and beyond to make sure that my visit was enjoyable and that I had everything I needed. Now, let's talk about the cocktails. I tried their Smokey Old Fashioned, and it was hands down the best cocktail I've ever had. The blend of flavors was perfectly balanced, and the smokiness added a unique and delightful touch.

So disappointed. Went to dinner here yesterday on 05/08/2022. Food was good and the waiter was decent, BUT… they had a band playing that was so loud my boyfriend and I couldn’t speak the entire dinner. It was to the point that we could hardly understand each other screaming and my ears were a little sore after. Totally ruined the vibe nor did it fit the vibe of such an elegant place. It was very strange. We asked the waiter if the music could be turned down (as people were literally up and leaving it was so bad). Ruined our meal and the manager offered nothing and basically said that’s tough in politer words. Do not go here if you want to have a decent and down to earth evening.

Big place and located at a prime location with lots of bar around. It has a speak easy bar inside which gets lit up after 10pm with good music and fun vibes. Alcohol menu is limited and old school. But surely fun if you want to engage in night with dancing and drinking. The dance floor opens up around 10pm and goes till 2am.

We went into this place on a whim because I saw it and thought it was ironic that they named a bar after Carrie Nation. We got drinks in the speakeasy and appetizers as well and they were great! I don’t like the taste of alcohol at all but the bartender made me a drink that I actually liked.

Came here for a friend's birthday, and was oh so pleasantly surprised. The place has an old school old boy's club feel, with leather seats, dark lighting, wood paneling, the works. And the cocktails are just amazing. Their bartenders really know their craft. And surprisingly enough, they're not that expensive, pretty much on par with drinks at Boston nightclubs. Definitely a place to check out.

We came here for a quick drink before going to dinner. I guess we came early where we were the only ones in the back/speakeasy section. The interior has this really inviting feel to it. It's pretty spacious and has an intimate feeling to it. The bartender was friendly and made my smoked old fashioned for me before working on preparing other items for later.

Great place to stop after arriving in Boston late at night. Solid cocktail making skills. The Gin and Tea was unique. Their vodka martini and Manhattan were solid drinks.

First and foremost, the drag show is incredible. This is in no way a review of that. I would recommend any and everyone go to that show. Now to the venue, I have never in my life paid so much for such an appalling brunch. Virtually nothing was made in house, almost every single item was frozen or of the just-add-water variety. I genuinely spent half an hour trying to figure out if Carrie Nation was technically a hotel, because the only situation where such an abysmal brunch would make sense would be at a particularly bargain bin, poorly run Marriott. It's also not as though the issue was specifically food quality (awful), just the menu design and choices were baffling. The waffles weren't even made there, they were the kind you get individually wrapped in a vending machine or, again, mediocre hotel lobby. First, I didn't know those were available in bulk packaging, and second, it can't possibly even be cheaper to buy preprepared waffles unless you're avoiding hiring any cooks. Why were frozen spring rolls on a brunch menu? No clue! Why were they still frozen inside? Probably ineptitude. Muffins? Prepackaged, but for some reason they made the effort to remove the paper cups they come in. Eggs? Powdered. The highest compliment I can give the food is that the bar was simply uninspired and boring. Please know this isn't hyperbole: There was literally no redeeming feature of the brunch. I left a buffet and went to an actual restaurant afterwards.

Good food and drinks and I like the overall vibe. Bar in the back in fun. My only complaint is that they charge $15 per person if you cancel a reservation less than two days in advance. With COVID things happen, people might be sick and have to cancel. I could see doing this for large parties but for a smaller party that's a bit much. Another time I had a reservation where we went from 4 people to 3. When I tried to change the reservation three days before they wanted us to re-book for 3 and the time was no longer available rather than just changing it to 3. We weren't adding a person so I don't see what the issue was. We would have had to rebook for two hours before or after which didn't work. So I had to cancel.

I recently visited Carrie Nation Cocktail Club in Boston for dinner and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The decor was elegant and chic, with dim lighting and cozy seating that created the perfect ambiance for a night out with friends. The menu was equally impressive, I especially liked the corn soup. For my main course, I had the duck breast, which was tender and flavorful, and accompanied by a delicious sauce. The cocktails were also a standout part of the experience. I tried a few different drinks throughout the night, and each one was expertly crafted with high-quality ingredients. The bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly, and offered great recommendations based on my tastes. Overall, I would highly recommend Carrie Nation Cocktail Club for a special night out. The atmosphere was sophisticated and inviting, the food was delicious and well-prepared, and the drinks were top-notch. It's a great spot to impress a date or celebrate a special occasion.

We came here for their NYE celebration package. Really cute ambiance. Loved the live music. Unfortunately when we packaged our food to go, it was thrown out by a server. Really expensive mistake to make especially since we didn’t even get to taste our meal ☹️ It looked good though.

Good service and even better ambiance. We went for the buck a shuck oysters and stayed for drinks, which were fantastic. Would definitely recommend especially for the weekday oysters between 4-7pm.

I came to Carrie Nation for a networking event in May and I had a great experience here! The staff are so nice, the space is lovely, and the food + cocktails are incredible. If I'm ever back in Boston, I'd definitely return. Highly recommend!

I really wish I could give a better review. I went here Friday last week with my girlfriend for dinner around 6pm. The cocktails were fantastic. Server was okay. The space is okay, super comfy chairs and I can see how the ‘vibe’ would get better as the night went on. We did not go to the speakeasy in the back. Maybe we just came at a bad time or something, but the food… was… not good. I got the smash burger which in reality was 2 patties that came partially pink and instead of sharp cheddar, I received some rubbery Swiss from the looks of it. The burger was.. not good.. I’m not one to not finish a meal and I did not finish mine. My GF got a margarita pizza. What was served looked like something that was microwaved. Dough was soft and under cooked, cheese was all rubbery and not properly cooked as well as way too excessive. It is what it is and maybe I should’ve known the food wouldn’t be like, ‘top notch’? But I wasn’t expecting it to basically be inedible. I’m not one to usually leave lesser reviews and again, the cocktails are AWESOME, I would definitely come here again, however I’d never eat here again as both meals were strike outs

Food was just okay. a bunch of little things that added up, made our dining experience less than expected. I felt the meal was not well organized, our waiter was lacking in attention. Forgot steak knives, had to request them. overall not worth the money spent. will not go back.

Went for the first time on a Friday night. Our sever suggested good eats, the mood was so fun, and the live music really put this experience above average. Our server was terrific and I would go back for this and the vibe. We shared a bottle of wine so I can’t wait to go back and test out some cocktails.

If you’re in Boston and you’re looking for a speakeasy with good food and superb drinks this is the place to go to. Loved their fresh oysters with Vietnamese seasoning. The salt and pepper squid is addictive. Very welcoming and friendly vibes. Will definitely come back again!

We happen to be fans of a terrific speakeasy. We recently heard Surprise and wonder are a key factor for ones happiness. We seak out these experiences and could not pass Carrie nations back room speakeasy. The location right near the statehouse could easily be walked right by. Don’t 🙂 inside you’ll find a well done restaurant with raw bar and a band playing in the main dining room . As you make your way out back the decor deepens to a classic well don speakeasy with pool tables and libations for your evening. The place is beautifully done Its only negative (which purest completely understand is the hidden element of surprise many of the best Speakeasy’s curate. Worth a stop in

Sat at the speak easy in the back, very cool atmosphere, drinks were good (self served), and found out there was a live show in the front bar. Would come again

The staff was great! The prices were comparable to other places around the area. They even made an original drink for us. The raw oysters were so very clean!!!?

Loved my experience here!!! The smoked old fashioned is next level - absolutely would come again. Pool tables and dark vibes in the back “speakeasy” were amazing. Bar tenders were fantastic!

Love Carrie, was my 2nd time going and it was great. You would never know there is a "hidden" area in the back with pool tables and another bar there was a dj as well the night we were there. Wish there was more of a dance floor, but still a great spot.

Relatively good prices for cocktail and other drinks. Pleasant, low sound volume music that allows to actually chat

Carrie Nation feels like a bar lost in the prohibition era. From the lighting to the seats and tables, everything feels authentic from the 1920s. The cocktails are fun and creative, but the classics are all present as well. The food menu was recently redone and has a lot of great options, especially for lunchtime.

  • 5/5 Jeffrey A. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome spot for speakeasy cocktail vibes! Bartenders were friendly and made a mean drink. Really loved the ambiance until there was a DJ that came in to play on a Friday night. Not the vibe I was hoping for and it got way too loud. Aside from that, would absolutely come back again

  • 4/5 Morgan B. 2 years ago on Google
A speakeasy vibe. There is pool in the back. Unfortunately the music after 9:00 was too loud for the space.

Carrie nation is such a cute place. Great food and drinks. Fun live music. Sophie was a great server. Tim was also super sweet, welcoming us and checking on us the whole time. Highly recommended.

The place was clearly short-staffed. After waiting 10 mins from being seated for dinner, we went to the bar to get our own drinks. We were not keen on the 3 cocktails we tried from the surprisingly limited list. Food was mostly pretty good and decent value. Large dining area, so it was rather noisy.

  • 5/5 Michael L. 2 years ago on Google
Glad to see this place survived the pandemic. Such a great room. Beyond burger with salad for lunch was tops. Wish they had a better lunchtime crowd - downtown businesses need to come back.

Hard to judge vibe since we were the only ones there at on a wed at 9pm. Large space modern vibe. Decor is retro, fancy modern. Drinks were great.

The speakeasy has a nice vibe but there were pool tables(??) and the drinks were not so great. Could definitely work towards being a better speakeasy

We have been here several times for drinks at the stunning bar, and for dinner in the dining area. We love the decor of the prohibition times, the servers in the iconic era dress, and comfortable high back red chairs make dinner feel so special! We love the new menu, Lots to choose from! Delicious well crafted drinks, some really fun ones also you can’t get anywhere else! Sharon who is the manager has hired a great team of employees and you can tell they love what they do! Don’t let this one pass you by!! Such a fun night out!!!
