I saw the reviews and I was expecting something amazing. The place is nice, clean, the staff is friendly. But the food was just an ok. I cannot recommend this place if you looking for good Italian food there are many options around way better. I don’t like leaving bad reviews bad the food truly lacks flavor.

Went last night with some friends and my husband, and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our server who turned out to be the owners sister was absolutely incredible and I feel bad I didn’t get her name. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in the right place for good Italian. Even actually the girl who opened the door behind us (a customer) said “best Italian in the north end” and it was. The meatballs were some of the best I’ve ever had, even my husband who is Italian agreed. The veal piccata was also absolutely delicious and very tender! The portions were generous but not intimidating. The bread they serve was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The homemade Limoncello was of course *chefs kiss*. My husband was also very pleased with the wine selections! I can’t wait to be in the north end again and go for a visit and try another one of their dishes.

The staff was really nice. It was a busy Saturday and we did not have a reservation and still were seated quickly. Very attentive with refilling the waters and provided extra bread. I felt the food was just okay. The pasta wasn't aldente enough and the sauces lacked what I normally expect from an Italian restaurant. I wasn't a fan of their mozzarella either. That being said there are many styles for Italian food, so this is just my interpretation. I thought the Lemon Drop martini was good. I had the Espresso martini and it was just okay. I would imagine the Espresso itself is great there - I did not actually try it though. Overall I give Limoncello a 2 out of 5.

While walking through this district seen this restaurant and just had to come for dinner. Most are walk up but wanted to ensure our dinner so called for reservations. The restaurant was open for lunch but we decided for dinner and in the evening they opened a patio up the alley beside the restaurant which was an amazing experience for my wife and i. The waiter was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Service was prompt and always helpful. The food which we had a few of the suggestions which were also the popular meat balls was amazing. No trip to Boston and Italian district should be complete without a dinner here.

Where to go when there are SO MANY OPTIONS, we were recommended to go here and it did not disappoint. Food, ambience and service were great! HIGHLY recommend you call early or a day ahead to reserve.. everything in North end seems booked out. We both had the servers recommendations and they were spot on good! People in/ around us were great as we struck up conversations with several couples and had a great meal.

The ambiance of the place was very cool. The place was very busy and we understood why after we sat down. The service was very good. They all had their duties and performed well, including the owner. All of thought the food was amazing from the pasta to the ravioli and to the meatballs. Wine selection was great and tasted well. One of our friends order lamb, and it was a little over cooked. They took it back and made it just right. The owner specifically came over to make sure it was correct as she bit into it. He explained the issue and apologized. Great experience and highly recommended.

The view, location, wait staff, and authentic Italian fare created a fine experience for lunch on a sunny afternoon. The bread was an indicator that the dishes to come would be extraordinary. They rivaled many fine culinary experiences in Italy. Paul Revers house is within sight of Limoncellos.

Perfect North End place. We were a party of 7 with reservation. The service from the owner/host to the support to our server was absolutely amazing. Several visits from the owner to check in on us all while orchestrating a packed restaurant. Just simply outstanding. We had several apps that were all really good but the stuffed artichoke was the table favorite, the stuffing was an excellent blend. The caesar was one of the best I have had...ask for anchovies. An array of entrees at the table. If you've read any of my Italian Restaurant reviews, I like to use veal saltimbocca as my baseline. This veal saltimbocca was very good with a nice mix of fontina and prosciutto to give it that salty/cheesy vibe. The veal was very tender with a nice portion. Rating 7.7. Since we shared some bites, the top dish at the table was a tie between the Rosette Al Montasio Ed Olio Di Tartufo (sauce was unbelievable with three huge wide noodles that just melted in your mouth) and the Fettucine Al Nero Di Seppia Con Astice (tons of lobster and black ink fettuccine tied it so well plus similar sauce to the Rosette without the truffle). To take this meal over the top was them coordinating a celebratory carrot cake from Modern Bakery for dessert (we ordered it ahead of time). The writing was a little messed up but that made for more fun with the owner. Overall, great atmosphere, great food, stellar service! Must try...

Excellent dining experience all around. The scallops appetizer was a great way to start the meal. The meatballs had an excellent consistency and were very tasty. We didn’t go wrong with the lobster ravioli! …but our favorite dish by far was the rosette—wow! (By the way, this is the house specialty.) All the waitstaff were friendly; Lauren was amazing. And Maurizio was an outstanding host. We will be back!

We really enjoyed this restaurant on our visit to Boston. Reservations are highly recommended. We were greeted right away and seated quickly. The food came quickly, as well, and was cooked to perfection. However, it was not too busy when we first arrived. I recommend making this a stop on your next trip.

In a city where there are many Italian restaurants, Limoncello in the North End stands out with its dishes and service. When not that many people were eating out in 2021, I was fortunate to get a reservation. The employees took very good care of me and I hope to revisit someday.

Great dinner ambience. Loved the food and service. Bread and oil served prior to our order was heavenly. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. Each item was generously portioned and was more than enough for two.

THE best pasta I've ever eaten. We did not have reservations and were still seated in a very romantic table out back within 20 minutes. Service was excellent, bread and olives were delicious (as was the wine). Great experience. I would definitely recommend!

Great staff and atmosphere to enjoy an amazing meal with friends. Surprisingly affordable too. All the seafood dishes were really good but definitely try their meatballs!!!

Conveniently located next to the Paul Revere house, this Italian eatery is a must. We started our meal with the meatballs pared with the limoncello. Main dishes consisted of veal piccata, fusile ragù, chicken parmigiana, and lasagna. Perfectly portioned and good value.

Great wine selection and an impeccable menu. Able to get in last min without reservations was a big plus.

Wonderful outdoor ambiance, with authentic Italian menu and full course entrees. Food was cooked to perfection and wine was really good as well. Our waiter was attentive and friendly and pricing was reasonable.

Lovely food and excellent service! We had a very knowledgeable and friendly waiter. I had the rack of lamb and it was a little charred, but otherwise delicious. I would also recommend the Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay (Kendall-Jackson). However, my mom said the spaghetti was mediocre for it being an Italian restaurant. For 4 people and a bottle of wine, our meal was around $200.

The service was great, and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. For our main dishes, we ordered the "Salmone Alla Maurizio," "Lasagna Mediterraneo," and "Rosette Al Montasio Ed Olio Di Tartufo." I particularly enjoyed the Salmon dish. However, it was a bit on the expensive side overall.

Nice hostess that greeted us. Got bread and olives right away-NICE!! Then servers walked by us again and again and again and . . . It was irritating. Our table ordered lobster ravioli, spaghetti, lasagna, and shrimp scampi. Every dish was demolished, except the scampi (no flavor, thin and runny sauce, shrimp had zero seasoning.). The waitress who actually acknowledged we hadn’t been waited on was excellent!! Waited forever for the bill. 🙄 Oh and their limoncello is very nice, too!

A taste of Italy in the North End. Authentic dishes with wonderful appetizers, primi's and secondi's. The home made meatballs are enough to get you in the door. Excellent wait staff makes your dining experience special.

We walked in at 5pm (myself, my wife, our son and my mother) and was told that we needed reservations but the staff member (im pretty sure he was the owner) said if you can be out by 6pm we can sit you. Having a baby, we knew we’d be out in an hour. After we were sat, numerous staff members came up and interacted with our baby and also gave him a toy. Our server was so friendly and helpful with the menu. Even tho he knew we had to be out by 6pm, he didn’t rush us whatsoever. Next time we are in Boston, we will be returning. It’s always nice to support businesses that truly care about their customers. I’d rate every staff member 10/10. Limoncello does it the right way!!! I highly Recommend this place.

We had a great time at Limoncello last night. We had our 5-month old with us and the staff could not have been any more friendly to him and us for having the baby there. The food was to die for. The meatballs were flavorful and juicy. The veal parm had more veal than pasta, a rarity these days. The veal was lightly breaded as well making it a generous cut of meat. My wife's Rosetta seemed like a small portion until she found out that it was stuffed to the brim. The atmosphere is straight from the movies with a mixture of Bostonian English and Italian flowing throughout the restaurant. We will make this a staple of ours for future Boston trips. Couldn't recommend this restaurant more!

We had just gotten off the plane and it was 9pm. They were kind enough to let us eat even though the kitchen was closing. It was delicious! The waitress was helpful and very kind. The ravioli was excellent and chicken Marsala was pretty good! I highly recommend!

They sat six of us in a corner at 4:00 PM while the entire restaurant had several open, better spaces for a party of six. The host’s desk was over my left shoulder, so I could hear all reservations taken. We didn’t mind the prices, but discovered at the end that they charge $8 for a can of Pepsi; no free refills! Food was good; but we also went to Limoncello for ambiance, service, & location; and we were disappointed.

Our favorite Italian in the North End and maybe the world! Well at least of all the good Italian places we have been in LA, NYC, Paris, and unfortunately multiple touristy places across Italy. Delicate, savory, balanced flavors. The octopus Carpaccio was to die for and I mean even over the best beef Carpaccios we have had.

Okay… I don’t know how the other restaurant are on the block, but you GOT to try the Rosette at this place. Absolutely delicious!!! Will definitely be back and will recommend it to my friends.

Absolutely amazing. My veal chop was prepared perfectly and incredibly tender, the service was friendly and amazing; they even went out of their way to whip up something for my picky eater 6 year old. If we find ourselves in Boston again will come back in a heartbeat. Fantastic!

I’m giving two full stars for the food only. Their complimentary bread was good as well as everything we ordered. HOWEVER I would have given it all five stars but the service was AWFUL!! We came in around 4.30pm and asked the host whether they were serving dinner to which he responded yes. We were seated by the inner wall closer to the kitchen with the entire restaurant empty except one other table. There were 5 different wait individuals taking our order, refilling our drinks, etc. Please note the restaurant did not have any other tables except one. The owner or manager was going off one of the waitresses and seemed like he was working in a corporate job rather than operating a local small restaurant. Nobody was wearing face masks and there was coughing and touching their faces, etc. We were given menus WITHOUT being told any specials while the table next to us that came in 20 mins later heard all about the specials (they looked being white Americans). In addition we were being asked TWICE whether we finished our meal while it was obvious we were still eating. The restaurant had now 3 tables including us with like 20 other empty tables!!! When I asked for the dessert menu, I was told about the dessert options instead in a very fast unkind manner with two waitresses at our table standing and giggling in another language. So we just asked for a check instead. Our bill came up to over $120 and I would have left just a $1 for a tip but my kind hearted husband left more. We are not white Americans and I could certainly feel the tiny minded people working and operating this insignificant place.
