This progressive Thai gem rates very high on our taste-per-dollar scale. Every time, and every different menu item, has been great. The staff is kind, and the atmosphere open, contemporary, and clean. Highly recommended!

We had Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp, Drunken noodles with chicken, crispy rolls, and fried rice with seafood. The pictures are half eaten food because we couldn’t resist eating before taking pictures. The service was quick and efficient. Loved the food, told the server to make it spicy, she did a great job. Highly recommend!

Great Thai food. Corn fritters are crispy and flavorful - great appetizer and the dipping sauce is delicious. Pad Thai was good and pineapple fried rice full of flavor and fresh veggies. Dining room is updated and clean and staff was very friendly. Lots of take out orders while we dined in - must be a neighborhood favorite.

Really good drunken noodles, and reasonably priced in 2022. Noodles were very wide indicating that they make their own and/or cut their own. A good proportion of noodles, veggies, and chicken. Flavor was amazing. My only minor criticism is that they could let the noodles char a little more to deepen that wok flavor. However, still among the best I’ve had in the states.

Amazing little Thai place with a distinct vibe and tasty food. Our server was great and their customer service is on point. They serve relatively smaller portions but with no compromise on flavor and quality. We got their steamed chicken dumplings, tom yum soup, basil fried rice, egg rolls, and Thai ice coffee. Highly recommend the soups, especially on a chilly evening! :) Ambience : 5/5 Food : 5/5 Service : 5/5 remarkable! PS - Limited parking spots, plan ahead.

Absolutely delicious! A must visit in the area. And also really affordable prices! I came at peak time on a weekend and got a table with no wait. Menu is much more varied than most Thai restaurants in the area. Everything tasted fresh and each dish had a unique, distinct flavor. I have never tasted anything like the spicy chicken I got! Also very good with allergies! The menu is not labelled but they know exactly what goes into every dish. They have 2 gluten free/soy free chicken dishes, just ask the wait staff. Good with peanut/nut allergies too. Service is amazing. Everyone is super friendly. Ambiance is nice. Not too loud not too quiet. I will return frequently.

Wow, nice hidden gem right in the thick of things in Bostons market area and govt center. Food is special, great flavors and some unique grilled meat flavors that is not the run of the mill Thai restaurant. They have a gluten free menu of noodles, rice and soups. We did not have a problem ordering a gluten free and nut sesame free lunch. They accommodated very easily. Staff are nice and friendly and service is quick.

This is definitely the best Thai food I ever had. I’m from NY and have tried a decent amount of Thai restaurants. I got the pad Thai and spring rolls. They hit different here. Ever bite was perfect. Would highly recommend and would return next time I’m in Boston!

Authentic Thai restaurant! We ordered the red curry, pineapple curry, basil fried rice, crispy rolls and corn cake! Everything was yummy! The only thing they need to work is the ventilation. It’s a small space and kitchen is pretty close to the dining area, hence it’s filled with fried smell which after some time makes you feel suffocated! Rest everything is amazing! Pocket friendly nice Thai restaurant to visit when nearby Quincy ;)

Hole in the wall Thai place with affordable options for lunch. I came across this place while looking for a non-Italian restaurant near North End. Given the location, everything on the menu seemed inexpensive, and they had plenty of seats available. For the appetizers, I got the steamed chicken dumplings and the crispy rolls, and both were solid. On the other hand, the grilled pork with steamed vegetables was fairly basic, but it was hard to expect anything better for the price. Service was excellent, and I would probably come back to try their noodles which were sold out during my visit.

Kala Thai Cookery: A Thai Culinary Gem in Boston Pros: - Perfectly Cooked Pad Thai: The Pad Thai at Kala Thai Cookery is a burst of flavors. The noodles are spot-on, and the sweet, savory, and slightly tangy sauce is a treat for the taste buds. - Delicious Massaman Curry: The Massaman Curry is like a warm, Thai hug in a bowl. Creamy, rich coconut milk-based curry with just the right level of spice, served with tender chunks of meat. - Efficient Service: The staff here takes orders lightning fast, and your dishes arrive promptly, ensuring you get your Thai fix in no time. Cons: - Small Space, Potential Wait: The restaurant is quite small, so be prepared for a wait, especially on busy nights. - Not for Leisurely Dining: If you're looking for a leisurely meal, this might not be the place. The limited space and the queue of diners at the entrance create a bustling, energetic atmosphere. Summary: Kala Thai Cookery in Boston is a must-visit for lovers of Thai cuisine. Their Pad Thai and Massaman Curry are culinary delights. The efficient service ensures you won't be waiting too long, but do be ready for a lively, cozy dining experience. It's the perfect spot to savor your meal before moving on to your next adventure. 🍛🌶️🍜

A must visit!!! Situated in a bustling downtown. One of the best Thai food I ever had. Simply amazing. The vibe was a typical mom and pop shop. The flavor was so good and on point. Ordered a chicken red curry and drunken noodles. The spice level was good and appropriate. Definitely would try again next time when in town.

I am a regular here. Their food tastes consistently great and it is relatively affordable considering its central location. I haven’t had issues with staff either — they do their best to take in walk-in customers even when the restaurant is already busy. There was one time when I got charged extra $4 without warning. I went a little after 4pm for late lunch and nowhere on the menu it mentioned that they charge $4 extra after certain hours for dinner. I learned this only after I paid and saw the receipt. There was one other time when I was disappointed with their mango salad (mango was too ripe and wasn’t julienned properly, and it had a lot of celery leaves that weren’t edible instead of celery stalks). Other than these two occasions, I am usually satisfied with their food. I recommend getting a reservation for group lunch.

This is a great little Thai restaurant, their food really impressed me. It is a small space with less than 10 tables, but I was able to be seated right away as a group of 3 at around 5pm on a Sunday. We ordered a Chicken Kee Mao (drunken noodles), Shrimp Pad Thai, and a Pork Kapow. We all thought our food was very good. I had the Kee Mao and was very impressed, the sauce had a lot of flavor that really stood out. It was quite spicy but not too spice in my opinion, but spicier than most other places. The portion sizes were good, and it really is a great value for money for a great meal. The food came out very quickly and the service was very good.

Great Thai restaurant, located right beside the Boston public market. We went on a Saturday evening at 515pm with reservations (highly recommended); it was fairly busy, esp while the market is open. We ordered corn cakes, Char kway teow (Malaysian noodle dish- tasted pretty authentic), and short rib curry, which comes with rice. Portion sizes were decent, and we didn’t find any of the dishes spicy, despite the 2 chilli signs on it. The curry was a bit on the sweeter side, but still tasty.

Great food! Definitely seems more like a take out place as seating is super limited, so we did have to wait a little but nothing unreasonable. The staff was very friendly and nice right off the bat, and made sure we were seated as soon as possible. Has a very modern vibe and seems like a really clean place. We got an appetizer and 3 entrees, and they all came out quickly. All of the food was amazing! So delicious and huge portions. Will definitely be back! The bean curd is super hot so if you get it just be careful, and make sure to eat it with the sauce. We loved that there was the option to make almost every menu item vegetarian too.

Small & nice place for dine-in. We enjoyed every items we ordered (kapow dumplings, basil fried rice and chef special kapow beef). Highly recommend this place for authentic thai taste. Also the behavior of the staffs was friendly.

We enjoyed our dinner her this evening. For appetizers we tried the Crispy rolls & fried kapow dumplings. The dumplings are fantastic. The crispy rolls were ok. We enjoyed our entries: Panang curry w/chicken, Chicken pad thai & Chicken jade noodles. Very nice restaurant with great service and reasonably priced menu.

How did this place get 4.7 stars? We ordered the char kway chow and pad see ew. Neither were good or traditional. This place is compared to nyc Thai restaurants - pad see ew had no flavor, too sweet and extremely burnt and the charred taste went into every ingredient to the point my wife couldn’t even eat it. Extremely oily. Maybe they forgot to wash out the wok or clean/dry it properly - bootleg char kway chow had no char, no sambal sauce, no flavor. Replaced with siracha. They have the right noodles and proteins (Chinese sausage) though. Maybe they were going for a Thai interpretation of a Malaysian dish - nice interior, pick up was prompt.

I was delighted by this Thai inspired eating experience located downtown Boston. The spices and flavors were extremely impressive. Do try their Pineapple Curry and Galangal Soup, they were in the summit of taste. Placing the order while waiting for a table was a smart idea to save time.

Nice little place. The spring rolls are very good. The pineapple curry was quite good. The pineapple fried rice was disappointing. We had to dump my curry on it to make it decent. Open kitchen is a decent concept, but made it loud in the dining area.

We’ve been here twice; once we tried the chicken fried rice pad Thai and the next time we had two of the curry dishes. We loved them. Good portions of food.

Great food, super tasty and quick service! The delicious smell says it all!!! The space is limited, however, service is quick and people gets in and out fast. Place holds at least 24 people, so it looks smaller than it really is. I would recommend to go with noodles over curry, but still everything was SO good. Would def. Go back!

Went in without a reservation on Saturday evening and was seated immediately. The staff is friendly and attentive. Ordered corn cakes, veg basil fried rice, shrimp kee mao and homemade milo ice cream. The space is small but cozy. They have vegetarian options and can substitute meat in most dishes to make vegetarian. It’s located in downtown Boston. My only complaint is that the bathroom was very dirty. Rest was good.

Best Thai food I've had in Boston. Reminds me of Thailand. Red curry had a really nice lemongrass hint to it and the kee mao had a a great chili and basil flavor going on. Will definitely be back.
