This neighborhood Roti spot is the jam! One of the best things I have eaten in Boston. Caribbean food in Dorchester is the truth. No frills place. Spoke to Woo who was super chill, and told me the history of JP Roti shop. Started out in the backyard 40 years ago and this is their second shop. No the most efficient and it can get hot in there but you forget all of that and realize why people come here. Food tastes homemade and you can taste the fresh roti being made with all the great curries that come in the Roti. I asked Woo what I should get and he said Chicken and Shrimp spicy. Woo was right, could only finish half of it, saw a lady get mad about her wait there but when she got the food she was like it’s worth it.

The roti didn't taste too good to me, nor did the doubles unfortunately. The sweet bread was great. The grocery part of the restaurant had some options that made me smile. I purchased about 40 dollars worth of groceries, seasonings and stuff. The flow of the restaurant could be better. You walk in and unless you already know, you would walk into the restaurant part of the place, but you actually have to go to the grocery side of the restaurant, place your order, they write what you want on a bag. You don't pay there, you pay on the restaurant side. You take your bag with the order written to the restaurant part, hand them the bag, then wait while others come in and out. Its kind of confusing. You can't really hear when your name is called, a few people got the wrong order. I actually watched a woman get the wrong order twice. I was waiting 45mins, I went back up and had to ask for my order. I was then told part of it was not ready still. I guess a positive are cashiers. They're friendly, and conversational. They definitely need a better layout. Who ordered ahead needs a separate line, who's waiting another. Roti 4 out of 10 bland Doubles 0 out of 10 I didn't even finish it. Price could also be better. I usually travel to Brooklyn NY for good trini roti, I will have to continue. I don't mind paying more if it tasted good, but I was disappointed. They have great drinks that remind you of Trinidad, but it was like 1 or 2 of each, so there's that. Very limited. ***update*** so after days of letting my last roti and doubles sit in my fridge I've had a change of heart. The doubles actually is good. I actually opened the doubles and noticed what happened. 5hey put some nasty green stuff in it that I was able to remove, and it was good after. The roti was still a little bland, but did taste a little better. Doubles gets a 7 out of 10 because no tambrind was available. Roti.. 5 out of 10 still.

Good Food! but the organization is beyond ridiculous!!!! You can waste your entire lunch hour there waiting for an order you placed 30 minutes prior!!!!

When I first started coming to JP Roti a few years back, my roti was no more than $9.00 with a decent sized portion. The service was always horrible and no matter how far ahead you call, you always have to wait. I continued going because the food was worth the wait. I recently visited about two weeks ago. Called in 45 minutes ahead before arriving and my order still wasn’t ready. I noticed the prices have jumped to about $12.00 which I still wouldn’t mind paying if the food is worth it it but I noticed the roti sizes are now half of what you would get before. I watched them make several rotis including mine and they literally counted out 4 shrimp for a shrimp roti and half of serving spoon portions for other ingredients. In complete disbelief, it walked out and went across to Raphael’s and got a tire plate of stewed chicken rice and peas with steamed veggies for less money. JP has officially lost me as a customer! Between the wait, the service with an attitude, the portions and the heightened prices, I’m all set!

Horrible experience, rude staff members, after waiting an hour for an hour the staff had the nerve to say patience is a virtue, thank God I’m a Christian! People other people called in and the wait was more than an hour .. will never go there again

Oh man I'm so glad I heard about this place. I got the beef roti with everything in it. It was spectacular. The wrap skin was really tender and soft, the fillings were all really well seasoned and each was individually delicious so even though it is actually impossible to get a bite of everything at once (because it is huge!), every bite is still delicious. I had called ahead and when I got there it was still a wait of maybe 20 minutes or so, which I had expected from the reviews. There was a crowd of 10 out so people waiting for their orders at 3 on a Saturday. There is no space to eat inside so you can only get your order to go.

I cant believe people still go to this place waiting hours for food when you can get better service and food at d coal pot in Hyde park. Clearly this establishment don't care about their customers. They've had the same screwed up system when ordering for ages..

was craving some trini food that i seldom have, yet the flavors leaves a strong impression from my experince. After consulting with my trini friend I was directed to JP's Roti. I wanted some thing curried with a hint of sweetness and strong flavor. I went with the doubles. doubles usually doesnt come with protein yet I asked for boneless chicken and they made it and i paid accordingly. $3.50 per double and I think $2 or more dollars for the chicken. I am of Haitian descent but Ah Payap!!! I telling you wham me bite in one doubles deh. I thinking JP a show off cause I tun Trini and ready fi fet. The fried flat bread was soft and tender and then the juices were dripping with fresh cilantro and I beleive a cucumber chutney. the chickpeas were filling down tasty the boneless curried chicken sell off so good!!! so much flavor for such an small dish. will be back for some curried goat and roti.

Food was not good at all. I ordered a chicken and shrimp roti. Did not get the shrimp. The roti’s are small. They don’t have cabbage or goat. You can’t pick what you want in the roti. The chicken is dry. The skin was nasty. When you order, you have to order from one side of the store and pick up and pay on the other side. The only positive thing I experienced was everyone was polite. And for that I’ll rate the overall experience a 1 out 5 b

As of right now this place opens 2 - 3 days a week. Very good food. Extremely busy. Food is delicious. I had a shrimp, beef chicken combo in a wrap.

Best place in town for Roti. Only down side is that you can easily spend 30-40 min waiting tor your food. Even if you call ahead on a busy day.
