This review is for having such an amazing experience at the self checkout today. I usually shop Stop & Shop because I find they do a better job with providing better quality produce than other options here in Boston. I usually go to a cashier because most times going through the self checkout takes more time since those machines are so sensitive about every little thing and the people working the self checkouts are usually on the phone or talking to another associates and you have to wait for someone to come. So today I was surprised by Brittany who was working the self checkout and was actually paying attention to what was going on. Before I looked up to find help, there she was already scanning her card and clearing the screen, more than once because you can't even breath on those scales. So I appreciate her attentiveness it made my experience go faster and pleasant.

10 minutes before closing, they decide to close the self checkout registers and leave only one line open. 30 minutes later, we got out of the store. In general, the store is dirty and the workers are a cross between unhappy and surly.

This stop and shop has a very professional staff. They are polite and friendly and helpful. All thier food is so good, great prices

Probably the worst grocery store in the state. Stocking is weird, the freezers clearly don't work properly, and everything is set up to make you feel like a criminal. The prices are the worst part. Clearly exploitative and malicious. Whole foods should not be cheaper than stop and shop for most things! They only have business because they are the oasis in a food desert. Please leave this community and let a market basket or Roche bros, or literally anyone, do the job better than you.

Don’t put your baby on the support to change them. It is disgusting how they don’t care about how unsanitary this is 🤯 this pic was while the cleaner was cleaning both men and woman restrooms.

Absolutely the worst self checkouts. The machines beep at you every other item and say "please remove the unscanned item from the bagging area" when you haven't done anything. Then it takes a picture of you and you have to wait for the cashier to come and bypass the message. This happens every other item! Avoid this store if you want a quick checkout.

I went for fruits and yogurt lots of fruits and juice selection store was clean and shelves were stocked with everything i ended up buy more things.

Your store is absolutely disgusting. Degrading innocent people for past mistakes, calling them out of their name, embarrassing them in front of a store full of people because of a past mistake. These employees need to be FIRED. Start fresh. From previous reviews I’ve read, this has been a long going issue. I would’ve left negative stars if allowed. Do better corporate.

I’ve shopped here for 6 years now, and this is the most raggedy grocery store I’ve ever been to. Long lines, out of stock, food about to expire, etc.

Went there three times to buy a couple things. Somehow someway every single last thing I bought there in those three times were either near expiration, stale, or just bad. Go to whole foods lol

Avoid it if you can. I would rather drive 15 minutes to go to another store than go to this one right in my own neighborhood. No carts (go find your own in the parking lot), constantly out of stock, only self check out open. Just a bummer.

I used Stop & Shop's Bakery quite often the young lady Julissa that works there is the best she's great at what she does and baking those cakes they are the best keep up the good work Julissa

They have a variety of different items there. You'll definitely find what you're looking for and Stop & Shop. Don't be alarmed of the homeless that lurks around the facility.

This is an okay Stop & Shop. Weirdly expensive for the limited range they offer. Also weirdly busy at noon on a Wednesday! 2023 Update: Slow and expensive! Self checkout is a nightmare - very understaffed.

I'm not in this area very often. The only thing that turned 5 stars to 4 is that an item I was trying to purchase wouldn't scan at the self checkout. The light flashed indicating I needed help and the only available person to help me was on the in store phone/busy. She saw me, but was held up talking to someone else , probably her boss, I figured. I left the item that didn't scan on that blinking register and I moved to a different self checkout and bought the other items. I was on a lunch break and in a hurry so I couldn't wait. The item that didn't scan was from prepared foods i think (nuggets) and wasn't too healthy so I felt like I was better off with my fruit and cottage cheese 🤣

I despise this store. Had some worker take my stuff and put it back in my cart and yell at me for holding up the line because I stopped for a minute and put a bag down to grab my card. They have limited stock as well always. Would rather drive 45 mins to a different store in traffic LOL

Frequently I visit the stop and shop stores chain, I like the prices and discounts, Obviously I save in every one of my shopping, But about ten years ago, a stupid cashier did a big mistake, when she said that I got in my shopping bag, 1 not paid item, then one employee followed me to out side, and said, hey you have illegal Grocery in your bag, I ask him, What you say??? Let's go back to the cashier, and me with my shopping receipt at hands, Came back to the cashier, and what she said just was, Sir I'm sorry, After that stupid, Nasty, Racist action, I have been a victim of harassment, Stereotype Discrimination and more harassment every time that I enter to shop in any of this stores, Mostly in Jamaica plain and Mission hill, They owe me a lot, Excuses, Respect, and money of course for that awful, Stupid, and severe offense.....I'm the customer 22 +5800.....

Today I got alex as my cashier , they did not listen at all used my coin star to purchase something I never told them to do and kept giving me attitude like i don’t know what i’m doing. Please train you guys staff right , they should’ve asked me if i wanted to use that money for my item or if it was separate, never had someone do that to me and on top of that not even try to change it or apologize.

The cashiers cannot be trusted during up can transactions they will steal your food stamps and then tell you get your lying about the original amount

The quality of produce, meat, and fish at this store is disgusting. I’ve gone to this Stop and Shop dozens of times and there has not been a time where I have not seen rotting produce, slimy looking meat, and either frozen fish or no one at the fish station to assist. In addition to the lack of quality produce, the prices are abnormally high. Shopping carts are often limited or drifting in the parking lot. I also find it interesting that this one Stop and Shop in a neighborhood with predominantly Black and Hispanic population has these issues, but when I travel a short distance to the Brigham Circle Stop and Shop it’s a completely different experience.

I shop there all the time is convenient for people who live in the area they all so have a live protection outside the parking lot

I went to Stop & shop in Jamaica plain on Friday. I picked up a green pepper I read the sign It's 1. 99 cents each, 5 lb bag of potatoes $5.69 onions $4 and some odd sense and that's when I started getting dizzy banana is 79 cents a pound most of us have it at 49cents a pound. For the very first time I put everything back and I left the store The prices are too high. I make a pretty good living I refuse to purchase anything in that store This is why I drive 12 mi to Market basket in Lynn to shop The grapes $5.69 a pound You go to Market basket it's a $1.99 a pound You see the difference I can get a 5 lb bag of potatoes for $2.99 at ShopRite but at Stop & shop in Jamaica plain forget it it's too high they need to reassess the marketing. They no longer have butchers to cut and serve meat they're all pre-packaged so oncoming butcher at $25 an hour and an experienced Butcher at $45 an hour 40 hours a week so now you're saving some money because you have everything prepackaged. It's outrageous totally outrageous.

The woman in the Deli cutting Boars Head meats and the others back there were unmasked. No supervisor to be found. Totally unacceptable was dismayed and will not go there again in the foreseeable future.

Today I had an eye opening /disgusting experience.Since when does an individual have to pay for seafood or any food before the clerk hands it to you?I understand people steal or have stolen but to cast that light on everyone else does is not an option for me I will shop elsewhere.I can afford my purchase and will even go as far to say that if I was going to steal I would not be coming to steal food when there is a "SAFE"in the building.Petty is your way of thinking but you will "NOT"have me as a customer and treat me like a petty thief.

This store has a convenient location, but that it about it... it is dirty out of a lot of stuff and really, more expensive in some cases than Whole Foods and Roche Bro's which seems like it couldn't be possible. Obviously the area needs another grocery store as people are forced to shop here.. I don't think I have had one cart that worked properly either. The place is lagging in every aspect, but somehow prices are going up.. I truly avoid this place if at all possible, but like I said the convenient location and not many other options near by, are the only reason this place is still open.

Cheap and good variety, but poor customer service. Cool story below: I am not a frequent customer, and came once just for one specific home good - epsom salt. I did not find it on my own. Several aisles away I found an associate, but she did not help me because no hablo Ingles, and no se el sal de baña. I tried customer service ("Solution center", seriously?) but 2 people in front of me were taking forever printing lottery tickets. I tried the pharmacy. An associate suggested me a particular aisle, bottom. I searched for it only to find an empty slot. That was in the middle of the day. Probably, bad luck. But at least I suggest you to train the personnel - if they cannot understand me, please at least refer me to an English-speaking colleague...

Good grocery store with good quality fruits and vegetables at fair prices

I went yesterday 08/18/21 and the pasta I bought was expired and had gone bad. I was really disappointed I usually never have a problem with stop n shop.

Its always a deal going to Stop&Shop. Just some professionalism with employees is need. More customers service less push over on people. Know your aisle

Clean and organized. The staff are kind, the lot is huge and everything is well stocked.

Service was adequate and products are what I normally expect.

When you visit, count on them not having at least one thing on your list, being out of baskets/carts at the front of the store, overhearing employees curse while chatting with each other, employees not in uniform/without name tags, and never having all checkout lanes open regardless of how busy they are.

I like to come here because is in a plaza, and I live nearby , also we have a Cvs Pharmacy and a bank of America, a shopping store called (Rainbow store) . Stop n Shop masked policy seems to be optional but I do encouraged people wearing a masked because this place tends to get Crowded at times. For does that use this bank and have to run in to the other 2 places is convenient. They are located on Blue Hill Ave better known as Grove Hall Mecca.

Second time witnessing the manager being rude to customers. Corporate needs to send a secret shopper on weekends when the manager with the red tattoos on her neck is working. She openly talks down to elderly shoppers and is the most arrogant person you ever encountered. You don’t have to believe me just send someone in to observe her behavior and judge for yourself. Truly uncalled for. Just my humble opinion.

There’s usually too much going on in this store with no assistance from anyone. There were 3 open lines that went halfway down the aisles and the self checkout was wrapped into the deli. After people began arguing, no one came. When people requested a manager, no one came. The store was missing quite a few items so many people didn’t even have much. Needless to say, I don’t think there was an active manager on duty because I also saw a couple of people just walk out with their items.

Nice location. The store has a decent variety of stuff available. Produce is of good quality too.

Decent selection and good prices. This store has whatever you need for your weekly grocery trips. The fresh herbs selection is usually limited and you aren't going to find high end steaks but that isn't what most most of the customers here are looking for. They do have a good selection of ingredients you would need for many types of Latin American cooking including fresh produce, spices, and frozen goods.

Stop n Shop is Stop n Shop, but I like this location more than most however, well other than the one in Malibu, lol. I give this one higher ratings because it's very nicely organized, super clean and the environment is really nice. It's one of the very few that carry alcoholic beverages if that's your thing.

Only one manned check out, 3 of the 6 self service lines broken. I think S&S dump their poorest quality fruit & veg here as it’s worse than the other stores I’ve been too but doesn’t seem any cheaper. I dread the times I have to use this store as I know I’ll be waiting in line for 30 mins to be served by sullen staff who barely talk above a mumble. I’m not lying when I say I’ve driven 25 mins out of my way to go to another supermarket despite this one being a few mins away.
