A true pleasure and treat to stay at. You must get the upgraded room: the waterfall shower and heated floors are a great touch! To top it off, be sure to get a reservation at Bar George in the main dining room, then finish off the night at the bar. I can’t wait to return for another stay.

If you are reading this, look no further. I cannot say enough good things about me and my partner’s seven night stay at Le Mount Stephen. The opulent, but welcoming double staircase entry into the former home of Lord Mount Stephen and high quality woods and craftsmanship set the tone for our stay. Upon first arrival, we were stunned with how the original home seamlessly transitioned into the beautiful marble reception area of the hotel itself. We are especially appreciative of Alex, Ahmed, Beatrice and William for making us feel at home and providing the ultimate level of attentiveness and care. The rooms are spacious, clean and very modern. The bathrooms are next level in terms of technology—especially the shower. The beds are comfortable and linens are very high quality. We ate several times at Bar George, the hotel’s restaurant, and had incredible meals. The bar and restaurant tend to get busy and lively, but the hotel rooms are isolated from both the restaurant/bar and the streets of Montréal. Many other five star hotel reviews in the area mentioned loud noise from other rooms, the lobbies and streets. Luckily, Le Mount Stephen was thoughtful about this and we had a calm and quiet environment. Bottom line is the welcoming, attentive staff in a beautiful, historic, well maintained and conveniently located property in Downtown Montréal made for a very positive and memorable experience filled with plenty of good energy, friendly locals and amazing food.

On April 23rd, a friend and I had booked a girls' staycation at Le Mount Stephen. I'm a big fan of their restaurant, Bar George, so I was excited to spend some time at the hotel. Check in was great and we had a great evening, but unfortunately, at 3:03am, we were woken up by a man unlocking the room with a key card and walking in. We yelled out that someone was in the room; the man sounded surprised and left. We immediately called down to ask why someone had entered our room, and were told not to worry, that it was a security guard checking lights (what??). I replied saying it was terrifying and that we are obviously very worried. We did not sleep the rest of the night. The next morning, the man at the front desk was very nice and was already aware of the situation. He acknowledged how scary that must have been, unlike the staff member we had spoken to at 3am. However, we were now being told that the security guard was in our room to grab towels (again, what??) for another guest. He told us someone from hotel management would be in touch the next day. We had to wait a few more days to hear anything from hotel management, Genevieve, who only called one of us, to offer us a discount on our next stay. A disappointing resolution in my opinion. Safe to say we will definitely not be returning when there are security guards entering rooms for all sorts of reasons in the middle of the night. As two girls staying alone in a five star hotel, you're expected to be safe and feel pampered, but this felt like a complete violation of safety and privacy. If you do choose to visit this hotel, I would definitely recommend latching the deadbolt on!

I recently stayed at Le Mount Stephen and it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and accommodating. The hotel itself is stunning - every detail is thoughtfully designed and it truly feels like a luxurious escape from the city. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities you could need. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in! The location is perfect - it's just a short walk to many of Montreal's best attractions and restaurants. Plus, the hotel has a great restaurant on site, Bar George, which is definitely worth checking out.

Very happy with the service. We have stayed at the Fairmont Lake Louise, Pinnacle Shipyards Van ect. My point is, this place knows how to treat you. Anthony at The Bar George took care of us so well. He deserves a raise. Great person and exceptional customer service. Clara.S was also very nice and supportive. Very strong in her furniture moving abilities. She also deserves a raise. We will be back next time in Montreal. Can't wait to see these familiar faces again. Beautiful staff, vibe, room. P.S love the Japanese toilets.

Went to Bar Georges. For lunch. This is the most elegant restaurant in Montreal I ever been to. Make sure you visit second floor, interiors are amazing. A real Victorian mansion, as in London. The food is high end and very elaborate. Every time I go there I'm excited: I'm getting not just a meal but an experience!

Every staff member we dealt with was so pleasant and willing to help. Our room was immaculate. The shower was clean and really pretty sexy. My wife loved the heated seat on the commode. I loved the bed, but the pillows were a bit too fluffy. It didn't cause any neck pain, but I had to be strategic in my pillow use.

    - front desk is incredible. Everyone one of them was great. - concierge William Chu did an excellent job -restaurant experience was frustrating as they did not have enough staff. Restaurant rating is 1 for me. -Bar George at night is way too loud and does not go way the whole ambience - Toilet excellent- heating floors, toilet automatic, great rain shower -no shaving kit- the one I received after requesting was terrible. It was like taking a blunt knife and scratching my face. This needs to change. - location is good for shopping not for old town. So if you want to experience old town European feel then stay close to Norte Dame.

We stayed at Le mount stephen for 4 nights and it was amazing. The hotel itself is beautiful, but the customer service we received really set it apart from most hotels we’ve been to, highly recommend! I would like to point out William at the front desk. He went above and beyond to make our stay at the hotel great! Taking the time to set aside to go over ‘must sees’ in Montreal. To even booking us dinner reservations/spa appointments that we weren’t able to get into ourselves! This is a beautiful hotel, with an amazing location and staff that go above and beyond for you, 5 stars all around!

Overall, a great hotel experience. Simply the most high tech and automated Hotel we've stayed. The staff were exceptional and eager to assist with any request. But..... We went downstairs at 5pm for a pre-dinner drink at Bar George both nights of our stay. There was a short line, and once we spoke with the hostess, we were advised that we couldn't be accomodated. Personally, that's unacceptable for a 5-star hotel. If your "hotel" bar is too small or so popular that you can't accommodate your booked guests, it's time to add a Club level or guests only hotel bar. We went down the block for a cocktail before returning to Bar George for dinner the first night. I've left a separate review for Bar George. Though breakfast at the restaurant (Bar George) was good, service was slow. Perhaps staffing is an issue.

During our most recent visit to Montreal, we decided to stay at this gorgeous, 5-star, plush, comfortable, elegant, super-clean, highly rated, very conveniently located hotel, with so much history going on, yet, as a result of the grounds being kept immaculate, looking like it could be practically brand new! The staff, specifically Frederic, Caroline, Dimitri, Hillary, Guillimette, and Junor, are all incredibly courteous, personal, friendly, accommodating, and clearly, go out of their way(s) to make each and every guest feel extra-special, just as they did with us! This is a very serious hotel, for people who know the difference between a typical Marriott property, and a much less corporate, much more focus on attention to every single detail, 5-star property, such as this. Enthusiastically recommended to all. We will be returning, with 100% certainty. Bravo. A+++++

Beautiful exterior and restaurant, very friendly and kind staff. Our room not 5 star. Except for price. Modern. Tiny. Aquamarine colours, k -mart art. Dark with tiny square cut outs for windows facing an office tower. Electrical system for lights, drapes and toilet lid that opened and closed constantly when you even peeked into the bathroom annoying. Sand paper toilet paper. Bathtub so huge and no spot to recline, it would require a 7 ft athlete or a very very large person, with their own tub pillow to be comfortable. Overall a poorly executed attempt at modern. Bonus, wonderful art galleries close by. Good hiking around McGill. A great little restaurant around the corner for vegans. The Copper Branch. It is a fast food place but excellent food. And soft toilet paper! What an irony.

I did not stay in the room, but j was there for an event and got there earlier, so I asked to see them. They are beautiful! Modern, posh and super clean. The restaurant is very good too. The bar has kept the early 1900 look. Everything is wood. You feel like a politician or a spy.

This is our go to hotel when my husband and I stay in Montreal. It is walking distance from shopping and nightlife. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help out. The rooms are top notch with the most comfortable bed. Can't wait to come again!

Although I did not stay at Le Mount Stephen my time spent there was a delight. I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful wedding and everything was top notch. Le Mount Stephen is not a just venue, it's an experience! Walking through Le Mount Stephen is like walking back in time. The staff and management has done excellent job of giving their guests a wonderful time.

Just been there for a wedding last evening. Beautiful building, especially for pics. Very picturesque. There was a bar/ restaurant that I didn’t went in but looked amazingly decorated. I would recommend taking a look at this place. I got to be in Two different rooms for the wedding preparations as a maid of honour and they were modern, clean, very beautiful, plus loved the toilet is heated :) no joke it feels amazing!! The wedding venue was perfect, food delicious and staff super cool. Again, ideal place for nice pics if you are visiting Montreal.

I booked a room at the Le Mount Stephen hotel in Montreal for my mother and sister, who were visiting from out of town from October 17 to October 20, 2023. I paid ahead of time using an authorization form that the hotel sent me, and received a confirmation email. However, when my family arrived on October 17, they were denied check-in and told that the policy had changed and that they needed to pay again with a credit card and a double security deposit. Before I booked the room, I had tried to pay online using a link that the hotel emailed me, but it was from a company called Convergys and the payment kept failing, despite using two different credit cards and contacting my bank to verify the details. I called the hotel for assistance, and they told me that the Convergys system was very finicky and suggested I try another link or an authorization form. I tried the link again, but it failed too. So I filled out and signed the authorization form, which they accepted and confirmed. But then they changed their mind and refused to honor the agreement that we had made. They left my family waiting in the lobby for two hours while I tried to sort things out with the manager, who was rude and unhelpful. He eventually agreed to let them pay with a debit card, but only after making several arbitrary changes to the policy. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The hotel service was poor, unprofessional, and discriminatory. They caused me and my family a lot of stress, anxiety, and inconvenience. They also wasted my time and money. They ruined our trip to Montreal. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay away from this place! We were so disgusted by this hotel that we decided to check out early and move to a true 5 star hotel for the rest of our stay. They accepted the authorization form that they sent us and there were no surprises at check-in. They treated us with respect and courtesy, unlike the Le Mount Stephen hotel. I have contacted the Le Mount Stephen hotel management to demand an apology, an explanation, and a full refund, but I have not received any response yet. “Screenshots of our email correspondence are available on their TripAdvisor review site if you're interested.”

10/10 in every aspect. We had an amazing stay at this hotel. The friendliest staff, clean and extremely modernized rooms, helpful concierge, and great breakfast. The staff were extremely welcoming and helped with bags, suggestions, booking tickets, and transportation options. I would highly recommend in every capacity.

I recently stayed at Le Mount Stephen, one of our best hotel stay in Canada. Amazing experience. We loved the whole stay as a family. This hotel is housed in a historic mansion, which is unique compared to the other hotels I have visited. Truly a 5-star Hotel. Excellent service from every single staff from the hotel .. receptionist, bellboy,Concierge. Very spacious room with electric blinds, My favourite is the heated smart toilet. The shower is the best. They have this rainforest shower with colour-changing lights. Our Concierge provided a map with things to do in Montreal and offered a free service to book Restaurants and cabs. Their choices were excellent. We had breakfast at Bar George and which was a good choice too. cons * They dont have a pool. * Parking is extra

Ok … I’ll give the good first . Our anniversary is New Years Eve and we always try to spend it somewhere special. The hotel itself is really beautiful . The history and architecture swayed our decision to choose this particular hotel over The Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons . The first two days were really lovely. New Years Eve, it becomes a typical club. After leaving the hotel for dinner out , we had to fight through bouncers to get back in. If you are looking for an elegant place with the ambiance of turn of the century glamour to spend NYE this is NOT the place. If you are looking for a typical clubbing atmosphere for New Years Eve then this is absolutely your spot.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Le Mount Stephen. What a gem! Clean, modern, chic, and above all very courteous and friendly. Staff is very attentive. They warmly greet you each and every time you walk passed. They are quick to resolve any issues. We were impressed with the room amenities and the fantastic way the staff make you feel like you are in a home away from home. Not to mention it is centrally located to walk to any event downtown.

Our family had a wonderful stay in early November. From entering the hotel to all the staff we encountered, to the room itself (the kids were really impressed with the rainfall shower and the rainbow of lights to choose from while taking a shower!) We enjoyed all the power outlets strategically placed throughout the room by the beds & table - I didn’t need the power strip I usually bring for the whole family to charge their phones and other devices. We never got a chance to try the restaurant inside the hotel, but it always had a line waiting to enter. I know the concierge could have helped us make a reservation but we were so busy being tourists that we ate before we got back to the hotel! We had an issue with the shower handle but maintenance came while we were out for the day and it was fixed when we got back. Our room was cleaned by the time we finished breakfast - so fast!! We had 2 queen beds on the 8th floor and it was so quiet - and we were 2 rooms away from the elevator. We never heard neighbors and rarely took an elevator with others so I'm not sure if they weren't busy or the walls were thick. We would occasionally hear emergency vehicles, but nothing that kept any of us up. All staff were so helpful and friendly - it was such a pleasure to stay here! The kids were impressed once we entered the room and the drapes and curtains opened up. I think this is their favorite hotel ever. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Montreal. The location to downtown Montreal (LOTS of shopping!) and the metro train/bus was so easy too! Room tip: Plenty of outlets for charging using US/Canadian - there were 3 prong outlets & USB ports. Toiletries are they typical 1.5-2 oz disposables shampoo/conditioner sizes. It would be nice if all hotels start converting to the refillable larger sizes in the rooms - it produces less waste and the cleaning crew doesn't have to restock amenities so often.

Our recent experience at Le Mount Stephen was absolutely exceptional. From the minute we booked (working with Sales Manager Sandra) to check in, our rooms, service and care that was provided was absolutely incredible. All of the staff were so helpful, kind and gracious. Thank you to the entire team but in particular, Sandra and Alex for your exceptional service and attention to detail during our stay. We will definitely be back!

One of the most unforgettable experiences! The architecture and details throughout the building are phenomenal. The front desk staff are extremely beautiful souls, providing exceptional service with warm smiles and enthusiasm, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable during our stay. The housekeeping team were fantastic, and always hard at work but never missed an opportunity to greet us. The room we had was incredible with heated floors in the bathroom, an incredible tub, and beautiful fireplace. The terrace in our room was the perfect place to enjoy picnics in between site seeing. They managed to follow special requests and execute it above and beyond my expectations turning our whole stay into a real life fairytale. We made unforgettable memories throughout the hotel and will cherish the treatment we recieved from all the staff for a lifetime. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We loved the old part of the building with the new. Everything was beautiful! In addition to the amazing food, the staff was outstanding...from the door man, servers, concierge, to the front desk! I would highly recommend to stay here when you’re in Montreal City!

Very nice hotel in Montreal, lovely rooms, great service. Two things. The front entrance is not accesible and you are not able to use the piano in the lobby. Other than that is perfect!

  • 5/5 Abdulrahman A. 10 months ago on Google
Very nice hotel that is luxurious and has both a modern and antique taste to it. The only issues I faced were the extremely small and tight parking spaces that make parking a nightmare. Another downside is that there’s no swimming pool. Overall this is a very nice hotel with a lot of history and I’m sure anyone who stays here will enjoy it

This simply is not a 5 star hotel. While it has a beautiful exterior and main entrance their focus is on their bar patrons and events, not hotel guests. They would book reservations for us that would not be found when we arrived at the locations, booked a driver for us that dropped us off an hour and a half from the entrance to the event that we had to walk to in the mud and rain and missed most of the events for the day we spent a large amount of money on. Noise from their nightclub means you need earplugs but even then it rattles the bed and glass. Staff did try to band aid the situation at the end of the trip, hence the 2 stars, but by then the damage was done and much of our trip had been ruined due to a lack of care. From a 5 star hotel I expect that attention is paid to the details to ensure we have an enjoyable stay. For us while the rest of Montreal was wonderful, our stay at Le Mont Stephen was the among the worst hotel experiences we have had, really upsetting.

Smart rooms in a gorgeous historical building. The gym is well equipped and the breakfast a great way to start the day. Very conveniently located in the heart of Montreal. Walk everywhere...old city, little burgundy, st Laurent, Saint Denis....

I attended a wedding there and the location was beautiful. I did not realize you could find a historical building like this in downtown. It had beautiful stained glass and wood carvings in just the entrance and the room that was used for the signing ceremony. The connected hotel had very stylish modern rooms from what I saw of the room the bride used for a gatecrash tradition (groom had to complete challenges to get his bride). And the ballroom for the reception was lovely as well. Staff was polite and courteous and the food was delicious, the beef wellington was amazing.

I had dinner there last night, what a gorgeous place. You feel out of time in a castle, comfortably seated with the right level of music so you could have a decent conversation which is rare this days with restaurant having music so loud that it's difficult to have a conversation. The food was delicious and great service.
