Beautiful spot. You need a special tag for your dog to swim/be off leash here and people can not swim or wade. Lots of fisherman and dogs here. There are a lot of rocks along the shore and it is not the most accessible place for older dogs.

Stunning nature area... lots of water, varying flora, tons of birds, and pristine views of the foothills and Rockies. Decent amount of parking across the street and the trail is very accessible for beginners.

I take my dogs here often. They are v&s tagged. Other dogs that come are not and its obvious. One of my dogs has been attacked twice here and never a ranger in site to ticket them. I decided to finally bring my 6m old puppy here on leash with my two off leash dogs. I let her off leash for 5 seconds to take a swim and what do you know. I get harassed by a ranger. I'm never coming back to coot lake and I won't be recommending it to anyone either.

Dogs can swim in certain areas of the lake. Pretty, but the water is a bit yucky. There's a trail to walk around the lake and benches to sit and relax. Dogs can walk off leash with voice and sight control tag. Beautiful flora

Excellent walking lake, great views of the front range and the lake. Perfect for water dogs. Love the development of the riparian zone and development of habitat around it. Excellent place to go!

A beautiful lake with lots of spots for your pup to take a dip. The trail has lots of shaded areas on the south and east sides of the lake with benches. Pit toilets are located near the parking lot.

Perfect for a dog walk, photo opportunities, meditation/time for self walk, quality friend time, kids, and more. Caught a big bass there, and take my dog a lot. There is a cute park right across the road for more parking. Views are great!

Definitely one of my favorite places to take my dog in the Boulder area. Luna loses her mind when we start getting even close to Coot. Coot itself a beautiful little lake with just gorgeous views. The trails here are flat and well-maintained, and lead to Boulder Rez (opposite side from the area where you can swim and launch boats, etc — you can’t do that at Coot!). It’s a perfect place for the pups to run around like maniacs and then take a swim to cool off. This is almost like one big dog park. You will see people without dogs but I’d say 4 of 5 people have dogs with them, and the vast majority of those dogs are off-leash. Boulder voice and sight tags are required and I have been stopped by a ranger once, (who confirmed my Luna had her tags). If you have a reactive dog this probably (sadly) isn’t the place for you — it is nearly impossible to avoid encounters with other dogs here, unless you go at a very off time. No shade on the trails so even despite the water access, I wouldn’t recommend it in super hot (say, 95 degrees+ and sunny) weather. The main Coot lot is tiny and almost always full, but there’s plenty of parking across the street at Tom Watson Park! Enjoy!

Be nice place , but then you have these special people that don't obey the law and keep dogs on leash. Trying fish, dogs knock over poles ,jumping in lake right next to me. Rude fricking people

Nice flat walking loop around the lake. Path connects to North side of Boulder Reservoir. Usually lots of dogs. Easy bluegill fishing for kids. No swimming or boating. Small parking lot right by the lake, more parking just across the street.

A great place for a walk or to play with your well trained best friend. A great place to see birds or large fish, especially on the North side. Plenty of parking across the street at the park is the lake lot is full. Our pup loves to play fetch in the water out here.

Beautiful morning on the trail around Coot Lake and trail over to Boulder Reservoir. Lots of dogs enjoying the cool water, still some wildflowers in bloom.

Wonderful quiet place for an early morning or evening walk. Clear pristine lake with vegetation around. Love to visit this place often

Coot Lake is a marvelous place for a scenic walk/hike. This place is dog friendly. The place is maintained properly and easy to park the cars. Benches are put to sit and relax. Tom Watson is opposite to this place which is amazing. Kids can play around and the mark is well maintained with a huge parking lot.

A nice little loop. Off leash for dogs so come prepared. Small parking fills fast but there is a much larger lot across the street.
