If you want RACISM and xenophobia, this your place. I was in the bar a bit after a wedding party (that it was planned to end there--and it started with a dinner the day before in one of the reception areas of the hotel) and I ordered some drinks for me and some other people. When I got the receipt, I realized they were charging me more than we had.I told the bartender (a woman) that this was the case. She said she will check it.Minutes went by, and after a long while, she said she would fix it. I needed to go to the toilet, so I did. When I was on my way there, the woman chased me and said I needed to sign the bill. I said that I'll do it after going to the toilet. But when I came out, THREE guys (not kidding) grabbed me and took me out of the place. I kept asking what the problem was. One of them said that I had been "disrespectful" to the staff, while they were taking me out. People that were watching the situation came out and said this is very common with foreigners here (they were mostly students). They all agreed that even when they took me out I wasn't aggressive and that I was clearly not drunk or something that could justify this behavior. After a while, a nicer person inside (a guy with gray hair) finally asked me where my friends were and at least brought them outside (I didn't have my phone with me). Then my friends came out and they were going to try to talk with these people, using sentences like "English is not his first language". The thing I kept asking them was what I had done wrong. Their answer was "this is private property and we don't have to give you any explanation" and then they even threatened to call the police (a hipster with long beard who seemed to be leading the thing--with a creepy smile all the time), to which I answered that he should, but all my friends said it was probably not a good idea. I don't remember how long it has been since I felt so humiliated (not to talk about the physical violence or even the fact that I paid for a drink that I couldn't even drink). To be clear: I didn't do anything wrong, except being a foreigner that doesn't speak English properly (I am originally from Latin America). As you can imagine, I am super mad about this. But the fact that so many people came to me to say that this was very common there (one of them, a guy from India, told me he has been called "terrorist" there) really made me think I had to share it with you.

A step back in time in a hotel with much history. Newer style rooms available as well as meeting spaces. The lobby is beautiful and the restaurant is a very nice place to enjoy a meal. The bars have good cocktails and the ambiance is interesting. Worth a visit when in town.

If you have any decent respect for yourself or your family or anything, do not stay here! If you want good Customer Service do not stay here! My husband Called for a late night stay conversation was going swell so far, got confused on the valet if we opted out what the total would be, she said she didn’t like his tone, so we hung up took a break and called back, a man answered and said they have no availability because my husband called her a B word when me and our son herd the conversation on speaker.

This is a late review, but I feel the need to post it. This was during one of the fires, and while I understand this was a difficult time, it is not an excuse for the treatment I received here. I had a superior king room booked here for 2 nights. After a delayed flight and many hours of travel, I arrived at around 6am to be informed that my room had been rented to someone else. I had called them the night before and let them know my arrival would be delayed. When I arrived they informed me they couldn't leave an open room for a night due to the fire. The hotel was fully booked and I was left stranded. They refused to refund me and I had to seek a refund through other means. The desk clerks weren't just rude, they were downright mean. They were probably stressed, but the lack of empathy and basic kindness was pretty staggering. You may think I must have been causing a scene, but I was raised better. I highly respect and value the folk I interact with in the service industry. They were just looking for an easy target to let some stress out on, I guess. This is not a business that should be supported under any circumstances.

Stayed here for a work retreat and it was amazing. Our lunches were provided by the hotel and they were amazing. The food really hit the spot. The hotel is huge and divided into two parts by a sky walk. I stayed in the main one. Beautiful, rich history every where you go. But not over done. The room was spacious and the view was amazing. The events space was large enough for about 50 people to sit comfortable and also move about the space. Staff was helpful and nice. Easy to find and knowledgeable about the goings on. Location was perfect to hit up pearl Street and catch the night life. Just be careful as I did see some teens get in a fight after they hit a guys daughter on their bikes. Overall that wasn't even related to the hotel just a great pearl Street story. If I'm back in Boulder and need a place that is comfy and stylish with a great history this is the place.

The Hotel Boulderado itself is a beautiful, historic hotel that I've cherished for years. The 2-star rating is for the Holiday Tea event I brought my family to this year. The hotel was decorated for the holidays and the Christmas tree was beautiful, but once we were seated on the mezzanine, the glamour and excitement faded. We ordered prosecco and hot chocolate instead of tea, which were just okay. The 3-tiered plate of scones, pastries, and small sandwiches were the real disappointment. The 3 family members I invited and myself tasted each and just thought they were bland, dry, or just average. The wait staff were attentive but didn't really seem friendly. I tried to listen closely to the music being played by the speakers and not one song was holiday themed. There were two gentlemen playing piano and drums, but I had no idea because they appeared to be tucked behind the stairs and playing quietly. It's just....for the price we paid ($42/person) for what we got was disappointing. Save yourselves the expense and go out for a nice dinner. You'll have a better time.

This was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Everything about the room was beautiful, intentional and also comfortable. I love the commitment to sustainability AND really Enjoyed the historical artifact self guided area. Just wish i could stay longer!

Old world luxury hotel feel. An elevator attendant escorts you up and down. Lobby and grand staircase are beautiful. Right off of pearl street in the center of shops and restaurants. I travelled solo and felt completely safe. Good value and the Mountain Views are breathtaking. Only complaint would be the wifi which was way too slow for a zoom call. Not great for business Travellers needing high speed.

Lovely place full of rich history. Had time to tour the place, ride the elevator & order a drink. Kristy was a fabulous bartender & knew what we would like better than we even did. Highly recommend!

We just we stayed at the hotel, but to our surprise, we were ushered (or should I say pointed in the direction) to a weird looking green house across the way from the beautiful hotel. With our 8 bags, my family and I made our way across the street, with no help and a lot of confusion, to the shabby looking house across the way. We stumbled into the correct door. Opened it up and found basically a B&B experience inside. That was fine and it was nice to have some room. The chairs are barely sittable, as they are antique and worn. The separation between the bedroom and the living area, with the addition of the pullout couch was nice. Beyond that, the “luxury bathrobes” were scratchy and anything but luxury. The window shades left the early morning sunrise to stream brightly into the room, making it impossible to sleep past 6am. And to sum it all up, an ant crawled over my feet as I was getting ready in the bathroom. Don’t look under the sink… it’s creepy. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the man who runs the elevator is lovely, caring, and attentive. He gave our kids a tour of the elevator and left us with nickels to play the game. He was definitely the highlight and the main reason they are getting a 3 star. The valet was lovely as well, front desk a little lesser so. If you are staying at the main property, probably fine, but it would be nice if you knew what you were getting into with the coach house and they were more accommodating to help you get there.

Do yourself a favor and ask Jim about the history of the hotel. Very interesting!!! Great guy who actually cares if you are enjoying yourself or not. Everything about this hotel is fantastic. Quick friendly and accomidating Valet. Epic rooms. Corner Bar has some of the best food in the entire area. The free access to One Boulder Fitness was a nice touch. We hiked Royal Arch (Black Diamond) then hit the sauna and hot tub. We will be back in the future.

The hotel itself is beautiful and the people at the valet are friendly and super helpful. The front desk staff is not so much. She couldn’t explain properly how the Mountain View room reservation works. With her attitude, it left me wonder it’s all about discretionary. Watching her showing to a newer staff on how to check me in as an individual guest from a group reservation, she is obviously more knowledgable and senior. But her sense of hospitality leaves much to be desired.

What a lovely hotel. Its rare to experience wonderful history in a prime location with such incredible staff. The restaurants in the hotel were excellent, and we enjoyed exploring the Pearl street mall which is one block over. The rooms were spacious and comfy. We stayed in the hotel for its proximity to the Boulder Theater, which is also one block over. We were pleasantly surprised with just how wonderful all of the people who work at the Boulderado are. It really makes the stay so enjoyable. We will be returning the next time we are in Boulder.

Funny I was going to rate the hotel as a 3 but gave it a 4. The location is a five very close to tons of restaurants shops hiking the university etc. Services are a 5 as the valet front desk and room service is very good. The room and bathroom are a nice size but really dated. The clock radio has an Apple phone attachment from 15+ years ago so I am assuming it hasn’t been renovated since then. It’s also really annoying to be in the north tower taking two elevators and a skyway to get there. I bet there are renovated rooms in the hotel but we didn’t get one. The bed is also small and the heat doesn’t really go down no matter how low you set the thermostat. The coffee maker is also 20 years old and sitting in the bathroom. Meanwhile the hotel itself is historic and worth checking out. We only paid $160 per night including taxes but the valet is $30 so be aware. The gym is an afterthought. You should stay here as it’s a really worth a try.

Boulderado is nostalgic-historic. so rooms are cute- ie, very small & really v crazy rates, considering serious spa amenities are off-site. also tacky local TV service prevented my private Apple casting! but staff were cool about our frequent guests

Historic building they are under some renovation to include a modern elevator, but I like the manual elevator. The room is very clean and stuffs very friendly. I love the historical original decor and furnished. If I ever come back to visit, I will stay here again and is convenient walking distance to Pearl Street.

Our company just had a wonderful event at the Boulderado. They made it super easy to set-up the way we needed. The lunch was amazing and the staff was so nice. We'll be back soon.

Called a couple weeks ago to see if they had availability, and was told they had one room left. So I told them I was on my way and the lady in the phone was very polite. I got there and the guy behind the counter was absolutely rude. And older man and he looked at me with disgust and asked what I wanted. Not hi can I help you but more of a what did I want and why was I in his establishment. I responded with I called about a room and before I finished he responded with we have no availability. The girl that I assume was the person I talked to on the phone started to say we have the one canc.... and he cut her off and said " I said we have no rooms" so she got quiet. I asked if there was somewhere nearby and he responded with I could Google it and immediately turned to the lady behind me with a complete different tone of voice and mannerism. Suddenly he was welcoming and accommodating. Guess you can't be a minority here and expect to be welcome

Still trying to figure out why we paid over $450 a night for this hotel. Sure it’s iconic because it’s old but there is nothing boutique or exclusive about this hotel. It’s dark and dingy. The carpet is weird the walk to the north tower, including the skywalk is annoying. And the beds were hard as a rock. I couldn’t wait to get home and get into my own bed. The staff is rude at best and although they have several restaurants on site, they were always reservation only and you don’t get priority if you’re a hotel guest. We ended up ordering room service twice but both times it took over an hour and a half after they promised a 30 minute wait. The only plus I was being walking distance to Pearl Street. Other than that this hotel has no upside. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel or high end experience definitely avoid this hotel.

We had excellent service throughout our stay! Mr. Mark was amazing at the Spruce Farm and Fish/Coffee Bar. He made us feel like locals and always had a kind word no matter how busy he was. Wes at the Corner bar was wonderful as well! We had several meals at both restaurants where the food was excellent! Our Anniversary trip was extra special thanks to our stay at The Boulderado ❤. Our historic room was incredibly beautiful! The view was amazing and the bed was comfy with lots of pillow options!

This hotel is a classic, with service, architectural details, a range of amenities and general quality. Some minor communications between service groups were pointed out (front desk and valet service) regarding prospective airport shuttle service was welcomed by both leads.

This historic hotel is a must at least once in your life. There is so much food( The Corner Bar) inside the hotel. Pearl Street is a great shopping experience. The Hotel Boulderado is the perfect destination to park your car and walk around the beautiful city of Boulder, CO.

Girlfriend and I stayed here about 1½ months ago. Food was mediocre at best & that's giving it a compliment. I threw away three of the four food items due to them being that gross &/or inedible. The deviled eggs were atrocious just heed my warning & take my word for it. Staff seemed friendly though and this very obviously is in an amazing location. Although at $235/night I shouldn't be having any complaints. Point blank.

The room was not as advertised and was quite a distance from the lobby (north wing). The room was clean and inviting, but had a number of fruit flies which quickly degraded the experience further. Service was top tier (I recommend valet parking). Beautiful building otherwise.

They say it's a 3-star hotel but it feels much higher. Seriously, love this place. Use it every time I'm visiting Boulder. Depending on the room, you can get a terrific view of the Flatirons. It's historic, and timeless, and I love the lobby bar.

Loved the historical aspect of hotel. It is very well preserved. Rooms were not the cleanest, dirty bedding, and not up to my desires. However, with this being said, the flowers that were left outside of the room in the morning was a significantly beautiful touch that made my stay very personal, and welcoming. Overall, obviously not a five star hotel in my eyes, but the stay was good and service was to par. Most importantly to me, the historical facets still remain.

Loved the Real pine tree in the entrance! The decor! The Servive! before we entered the hotel and after was attentive and warm. The Thanksgiving brunch was delicious and large variety! Great place for Two or family! Price was good! We will return. Polly and family.

Love this hotel! We used the Carriage house as a getting ready space before our wedding and many of our guests stayed here the night of our wedding. The lobby is gorgeous (and we were able to take a few formal portraits there!), the bar was so much fun for the down time we had, and the staff was absolutely wonderful! Highly recommend a stay here, and we can't wait to come back for our anniversaries!

Highly Recommend! Something we were blown away by was the comedy show located right there in the hotel! Super funny comedians with great staff and service! We also ate at Spruce Fish in the hotel and food was excellent! The hotel had very accommodating staff and the rooms were really nice and clean! Also great location in downtown Boulder. We will be back!

Excellent brunch! We've been a few times and each time the service has been on point and the food is wonderful. Lavender latte and oatmeal are my to-go items. Their brunch sometimes has some sweet treats as well, including banana foster waffles on our most recent trip. I'd suggest making a reservation whenever possible, given that the restaurant can be quite busy at times. This past weekend they also had carol singers and beautifully decorated tree. Great place to stop by if you're in the mood for some holiday decor! (Rooms are also super comfortable and well designed/decorated).

Beautiful and full of history. Stayed for one night while being in town for a concert at the Boulder Theater which is right across the street. Very convenient. Spacious rooms with great views of Boulder and nice staff throughout the hotel. We will definitely come back for a longer stay to explore more of the history.

VERY COOL, Classic, and old-school. We had a great overall stay. Our room was nice, albeit rather dated. Everything in the hotel is classic and historic. Location is SUPERB for walking to nearby dining, shopping, and bars. Excellent experience and friendly staff.

  • 5/5 Marius M. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful historic building, and the service and ambiance take you back to a bygone era. Amazing downtown location. It gets expensive around university move-in/out times but it's good value the rest of the time. The staff are friendly and helpful, my room in the north wing was clean and well equipped. My only complaint is that the AC fan in my room was a bit noisy starting up.
