I paid $205 out of pocket (I'm uninsured) for a consultation which consisted of me talking to the doctor for 20 minutes. A week later I get a bill for $110 more. I had asked about the price before, paid the price they had told me. I call asking about this bill, the lady says "we say $205 up front but it may be more afterwards". When I asked why she couldn't tell me why they had added $110 more to my bill. Update: I called the billing office and they said they would drop the charges but six months later I'm still getting bills and it's about to go into collections. Now they are dodging my calls. I'm pretty sure it's not legal to charge extra unless you say this amount might be more which was never communicated to me.

Dr. Jennifer Christensen was so careless regarding my health, which is her job and what I thought I was paying her care about. I absolutely do not recommend her, ever. In my experience, she is incompetent at listening and understanding serious medical conditions. I asked her to continue my vancomycin treatments from Rose Medical center and she stated that she needed to Google it. She didn’t even know about how you treat a patient with this medication, which could have ended this 3 months before my near death experience. After 15 years with Dr. Jennifer Christensen, I went through a life threatening infection. My infection only became life threatening after her negligent care of it. She ultimately put my life endanger rather than helping save it. I have permanent scars and suffer everyday because of her and Boulder Medical Centers abusive behavior of me, their previous patient. During their treatment, I was hospitalized for a week. While I was in the hospital she lied to my doctors and blocked me from receiving further treatment. All the hospital needed her to do was review my blood work for 30 days while I was on the medication. But she (my PCP) refused to do that for me. And when the hospital called her to ask her to monitor my blood work, she hadn’t even seen me in months even though I tried to see her. So she used, for lack of a better word, her prejudice against me to unfairly (flat out lie) about the facts. Then when I got out of the hospital I had blood work done through her, in which she reported to me that my white blood cell count was normal (I have a vm proving she stated that). I downloaded my labs directly from LabCorp and was outraged to see that my white blood cell count was higher than when I left the hospital a week before and, in fact, was written in red with the word “Alert” next to it on the LabCorp report. I promptly spoke with her nurse regarding the serious discrepancies and reported it to the Patient Advocate at Boulder Medical Center. I have a letter dated a day after I reported her lies, which stated that I am banned from being a patient at Boulder Medical Center. The letter was signed by Patrick Menzies, CEO of Boulder Medical Center and states that they had come to this decision after a thorough review… apparently a thorough review happens in less than 24hrs after reporting a complaint to the Patient Advocate. I have the Patient Advocate on record regarding this. Also, after the letter went out Dr. Jennifer Christensen even changed information in the patient portal to cover her tracks which I have proof of. So good doctoring is less important to them than legally protecting themselves. This all happened during the height of the pandemic when very few doctors were taking new patients, but why would I expect BMC to care for their patients. They left me high and dry without a doctor a week and a half after getting out of the hospital. If you want your health in good hands, then stay far away from Dr. Jennifer Christensen and Boulder Medical Center.

Boulder Medical Center is another disorganized, soulless health care factory that does not care of the most important part of a working health care system: the reliable human relationship. I made an appointment with Dr. Graham and had his assistant check my insurance information beforehand and I was reassured that my insurance would cover my visit. I went with an urgent health concern and had the recommended tests done. A couple of days later I received an alarmist phone call from Graham’s assistant that the results were worrisome. When I asked her to explain further, she said that she was not able to give me any more information, but I had to see the doctor. The next available appointment was more than two weeks later. I tried to sign up to their patient portal as a way to at least send a message to the doctor, but the access was denied. I called again and learned that there must be a problem with the system and an IT expert would call me shortly. This never happened either. On top of all this stress, I received a bill for the visit, as the Medical Center does not accept my insurance, as was promised by Graham’s assistant.

The doctors and staff for surgery here are great...the billing office, not so much. I had surgery in April 2022, paid all the bills associated with this surgery....this month, October 2022, I received a demand for payment for a bill I never received. You obviously had the correct billing information yet you are going to send me to collections for a bill I never received?!?! Ridiculous! Get your stuff together and bill in a timely manner!! I will make sure to never schedule any procedures here EVER again!! Update: I've lived at the same address for 19 years and receive all my mail. This wasn't mailed to me, period!

Worst Medical Center in Boulder! I was “Doc Blocked”! I was not allowed to make an appointment with my primary care physician because I was arguing a bill with my insurance company. the billing department refused to let me have an appointment with my doctor. I even begged because I was having horrible symptoms. They said too bad you didn’t pay your bill. Very unethical and quite potentially illegal so then I was forced to go somewhere else. Do not go there. They are terrible.

Went to Urgent Care at the BMC for what I believed was a Kidney Infection. A simple Urine analysis would have indicated this, but instead I was turned away from getting the patient care that I needed, and was told to go the ER at Foothills. 5 hours and $5000 later, the ER told me I had an Acute Kidney Infection which required an Antibiotic. I will NEVER go back to the BMC to see ANY doctors there. Obviously even their Urgent Care department is incompetent to send away a patient who obviously needed care. Absolutely the WORST!

I would give 0 star if i could. I have been with BMC Broadway for more than a year. Front desk and doctors/nurses are indeed providing fine services. But the business office is the horrible billing experience I ever experienced in the past 12 years. I had never been in this issue before. I had never been connected to right person to address my issue. The person who manage the bills never pick up my calls or voice messages in the past 1.5 years. Yes, 1.5 years! I paid off my bill but still keep receiving duplicated new statements. The payment is never reflected in their bill system. In addition, co-pay is also a pain point. It always shows a different amount if you try to pay online when you doing mobile checking in. Check in staff in front desk is very nice, but does not have the ability to correct them.

I wish I could give separate stars for the Doctors . During a move, a bill got lost in the shuffle. If you’ve paid close attention, you receive bills within two months of service/ surgery then no more! Once the second bill goes out it’s in pre-collections. Anyone who’s a working person, parent, human etc knows how the to-do list piles. Or maybe even a move. Well… when I went to book an appointment for myself a wellness check and my two children who’ve been seeing their pediatrician since birth . ( now 8 and 5) flagged! Me to book with the ob I’ve had for 7 years! Flagged. I paid Immediately because I don’t delay in annnny bill I’m aware of. They denied not only me healthcare but also my children. My children!!!!! For a bill lost in a move. Denied healthcare. For children. Will not see them. Or me. A responsible parent and part of the Boulder community for 16 years. I’m repulsed. I paid it immediately when I learned of it ( keep in mind, a 500 bill) and still, no budge. It’s the worst experience of my life and now my children have to have physicals with a new person that they aren’t familiar with. It’s appalling .I neeed to accentuate the fact that any physician operating under the boulder medical center will have a flag upon attempt for booking and will automatically be notified that they can not under any circumstance give medical care to my children or myself for a delayed payment of a medical bill of 500 that was paid. UPDATE to reply. They have completely denied me healthcare. I have payment plans set up for every bill I’ve received. One didn’t get to me in a move and pandemic. Pandemic. When I did pay the bill, it had not gone to collections because I could pay it directly through the hospital. And sill denied. This is inhumane.denying children. I would be willing to bet they pick and choose who they deny, there is no way they could do this to everyone who lost a bill.

I would write an absolutely glowing review of our doctor; we love her. The other docs in the group are good too! But the BMC system itself is broken. For example, last week it took 6 phonecalls to get through to a scheduler. And all I had really wanted or needed to do was speak with a nurse about a kid with diarrhea. Speaking with a doctor or nurse simply wasn't an option. BMC, or at least the docs we see, are not set up to allow for any direct communication with providers. This is frustrating.

This place is a scam. They can (and do) charge you whatever you want. I was charged a ridiculous amount to see an ENT. It should have just been an office visit but I was charged for an "ear microscopy exam," ... Are you kidding me? She just shined a light in both of my ears, something that is routinely done at a doctors office. I was not told I would be charged for anything but the office exam fee. She also said she wanted to look in my throat, which seemed reasonable since she's an ENT. But I was charged for a "diagnostic laryngoscopy." I am not going here again.

Faxed my records to the wrong number (they used the phone instead of fax) a week ago, and now there is no one at the records dept to answer my call- in the middle of the day o Tuesday. No option to leave a voicemail. Very frustrating. Otherwise, my providers have been good.

My wife called this clinic today to seek help for her issue. Gerard answered her call very abrasive and rude to the point she called me crying, not understanding what she had done wrong. This is unacceptable, to have someone like that in the medical service. I will be sure to let everyone I know this business is horrible and needs to deal with their employees. I understand having a bad day, but this is ridiculous. Hopefully this is just a bad egg situation.

Dr. Birmingham is the sole reason I come here! He is amazing and I could never say enough great things about him. 100% the best doctor I have ever come into contact with. He has an amazing bedside manner and it’s a pleasure to be around him. Which I feel is often hard to come by. He’s been helping me so much with a reoccurring problem I’m having and I couldn’t be more thankful. I moved to Brighton but still make the trip to see him because he is worth it. I have pretty bad anxiety and he is calm and makes me feel comfortable. He’s extremely knowledgeable and I trust him completely. I had to get some unpleasant things done but I honestly didn’t even notice he did them. I was shocked when I was done because he did it so fast & clean. That’s how great of a doctor he is. Highly highly recommend him to everyone I know.

I’m realizing that some of the doctors here are super rude/short and don’t seem to care about their patients and need to work on their bedside manner. If you’re having a bad day it’s probably not professional to take it out on the person who is asking you for advice or help. Specifically referring to ENT.

Very outdated system and management inconvenient for patients. Very careless providers. In my visit i asked for refill prescription, howerver the doctor forgot that didn't put my order, and let my prescription run out. They are very unprofessional. And the appointment system is outdated, many times there's no real person, and they do not have option for you to make appointment online. Your health records are hidden in the system that you cannnot see. And the blood test lab always send duplicate fee collection notice after you already paid a year ago! Over all, the most disappointing part is when your primary provider said he will refill but he didn't!

When you actually see someone they seem competent and helpful. The system, scheduling, and communication is abhorrent. It takes LITERALLY months of phone calls, emails, and in person conversations to schedule and confirm basic consultations let alone appointments. Would strongly recommend you look elsewhere as it will prolong your struggle to seek care here.

Echoing other reviews, BMC's billing dept is very challenging to work with in that they either ignore questions about invoices, or are indirect in their answers. One billing rep told me she had "no idea" why I was invoiced as I was, and did not to take the time to find out. The office manager was similarly unable to provide any explanation that made sense, though they were able to clarify that they have no obligation to be transparent nor justify their costs, under most circumstances. The patient is seemingly expected to pay whatever they ask.

My husband is trying to get costs for an ACL surgery and no one will return his calls or emails in a timely manner. The manger suggested making a $200 appt with the dr just to schedule a surgery appt rather than relying on his assistant to return a call or email. Is this the way Boulder medical suggests managing precious resources ? If yes I suggest you go somewhere else more effective and communicative.

The medical care is fine, but it is impossible to get through to anyone at the billing office. You invariably get sent to a voice mail, where they offer to call you back at their convenience.

This is the worst healthcare facility I have ever encountered. They charged me for a service I did not request, and which did nothing to address my health concerns. When I complained, they handed my account to a collection agency, who are now harassing me with phone calls. In short, I am being harassed to pay for a service that was medically unnecessary and which the doctor failed to disclose to me. The billing office is run by some of the most obtuse people in America. They are not transparent about their billing process. Their only concern seems to be trying to make the most money possible at the expense of the public’s health. Boulder Medical Center is a classic example of everything that is wrong with the U.S. healthcare system. This facility should be shut down by the Colorado medical board, and the entrance boarded up, brick by brick.

We are so fortunate to have a healthcare facility like this in our community. The doctors and all the staff work really hard. Shoutout to Elizabeth Helgens in gastroenterology. What a thankless field to work in, yet she remains engaged in patients’ health care. She has been very helpful to a number of people I know, including me, in working through their issues.

I would like to boost BMC’s rating a bit, because I’ve been going there since 2006, and Dr Dughi is truly amazing. I could recommend her to anyone, but she was especially good with my parents in-law and my own mother. I could also mention that Dr Levine in GI is excellent. However, I have noted a decline over the years. I have to agree that billing tends to be inconsistent, the lab work has been turned over to contractors, staff smile less and seem busier and more overworked than normal, and some specialty offices at BMC are ones I prefer not to utilize. It makes me sad. But there is still good work being done there, and I could still recommend it to people I know.

I came to Boulder Medical Center for a physical and had a horrific experience. William Logan Gladney did my physical and asked me to spread my legs and stretch them as far up as I could. He offered me adderall at the end of the physical, which I have never been prescribed and I didn't ask for an adderall prescription at the time. I am not sure if doctors do things like that in Colorado, but he made me incredibly uncomfortable. If you go to this hospital make sure you don't interact with him.

Yesterday was my annual skin exam and I was delighted and impressed with the experience. Dr. Jenna Peart, MD performed the exam and distinguished herself by several techniques that I wish all doctors used. First she asked good questions and most importantly listened to my responses and second, used her training and experience to ask me good questions and then use her knowledge and diagnostic skills to complete her evaluation of my general skin condition and health. At no time was I rushed, or was she in a hurry to move on to the next patient. Boulder Medical Clinic is very fortunate to have such a skilled and compassionate professional employed as a care provider. Cress Hart
