Everyone needs to know that we are in a pandemic! I don’t think every patient gets that. I was in line at 6:30 AM this morning and was the third person in line. I left patient first around 10 AM because they wanted to do some additional test. The PA, nurse , phlebotomist, X-ray tech and MA Were absolutely amazing! They are stretched thin and the least we could do as patients is be respectful, kind and courteous. Some patients were so rude, and ignorant and was trying to butt in front of other people but for staff at patient first-Bowie handled everything very well. Yes! I waited outside in the cold and my fingers literally froze to death but I understand what’s going on in today’s society. We have to be mindful to get in line early, be nice to medical professionals because without them we would be dying, and not everything is a rush. So if you are looking to get in and out… This is not the place for you. But if you are looking for staff that truly cares and give each patient there time… this is for you! As a medical professional, and a newly graduated nurse… I am definitely impressed with how the staff is running things! Great job medical professionals at Bowie 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The receptionist was wonderful but once I was called back to the wait room, the service was incredibly poor. I waited 2.5hrs to be seen by a physician. No one checked on me. No one provided a status update. Nothing. Once the doctor saw me (for 5 minutes), he left. He didn’t answer my questions or offer explanations. The nurses offered no explanations or assistance. After waiting another 30-40minutes for discharge papers and a prescription, I grew frustrated and left only partially treated with many questions and concerns after 3.5hours! HORRIBLE service! I would NEVER recommend this place nor visit ever again!

I know Covid cases are rising but the wait time at this facility is outrageous. I arrived at the facility at 10:15am waiting in line outside in the cold (36 degrees) for 40 minutes just to register. After registering at around 10:55am I wasn’t called back (just for them to take my ID and insurance info) until 4:00pm. After the nurse took my info there was another 1.5 hour wait (5:30pm now) until I was called back for them to actually administer the Covid test. Needless to say it is currently 5:45pm and I have yet to see the results of my test or have I seen a doctor. There’s literally to excuse for why it takes 6 (possibly more) hours to administer these test. There were elderly people to had to stand despite disabilities, young children and very Sick people in general. I understand that medical centers are under pressure right now but that type of service is utterly unacceptable. I will never go there for any service ever again and will discourage others any chance I get.

It was awful...because they had 2 physicians assistants...one had one side of the building and the other had the other side of the building. The side I was on had the African American female doctor that took alot of time with her patients that made the wait very long and the Male Caucasian Assistant had the other side so because I was waiting so long I asked to go on the other side because he was really fast and he just sat around waiting to see his next patient. They told me they usually can't just transfer me to the other side but I don't think it's fair that people that came after me was long gone because they were on his side of the facility. One of the nurses asked him could he see me and he said " NO" while he sat around and did nothing. I thought that was very unprofessional and I hope someone says something to him about that.

It was clear they didn’t know how to address the problem. There was so much wait time between each step. At one point I was given suface level numbing and then waited twenty minutes, by the time the cautery begun, the numbing had worn off. When I went to the ER I got a shot of lidocaine with epinephrine and the bleeding immediately stopped. Then they put in stitches which was the reason I went to Patient First. I got was registered at 1:46 at Patient First and left after 7:00 without the issue resolved.

I usually have no problem with PT, but I waited over 3 hours just to be seen for an ear infection. The wait was way too long, the doctor didn’t seem to care about my needs or questions. The nurses were really nice and patient with me. I think they need a better waiting system and more doctors who seem more interested in helping patients.

Very good customer care. The wait time for registration and vitals was not long at all, but the wait for the treatment room was exceedingly long. I hung in there but the treatment room was very cold, even though I had a jacket on and the coldness added to the wait time. The doctor was very cordial and explained my diagnosis in a manner I could understand . Very good service except the long waiting time in the treatment room, but the doctor I saw was very helpful & kind.

Was in and out. Went there with 2 of my kids for their school physical. Registration person Gwen was very nice and helpful making sure I had all my paperwork to be completed. Nurse Glenda who triage my daughter's was sweet and welcoming. Dr Dardeine was a jewel, very efficient, explained the process and advised me to rech out to her if I had any questions. The service, the stafff, and the speed of care exceeded my expectations 👍👍.

Thee absolute best care that I have ever had at an Urgent Care. Even when I visited the Landover Hills location years back. My daughter and I was treated with compassion. care and respect. Our health was the only thing that mattered. The entire establishment is clean. And the staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. And they fill most medications there. And have primary care. I went to another Urgent Care in Bowie prior to going here. THANK YOU PATIENT FIRST ❤️.

Unacceptable. The wait time was 3 hours and more, please don’t tell me about this pandemic 😷 which cases are low. Our president was just in the news announcing it. After 2 1/2 hours , I was told I can wait in the waiting room. I waited so long the lights kept turning off on me. It would be nice if someone checked just to see if I was dead or not. Never again, I ended up leaving bc no one should wait 3 hours at this place when there was only 10 people. How I know, I counted the cars and people. Please don’t contact me owner with a generic excuse. I am done.

This was my first experience with Patient First in Bowie, Maryland. It was a very positive experience. Everyone that I encountered was very professional and caring. Courtney, who registered me provided excellent customer service and efficiency. The nurse, physician assistant and x ray technician were exceptional.

Overall staff was incredibly friendly and compassionate about ensuring everyone was treated in a timely manner. I had a great experience under unusual circumstances. I will return for further treatment and highly recommend this as a source that stands high above the rest. Thank you for offering a professional experience during the pandemic. Hopefully things will return to business as usual soon. With such a wonderful staff it was difficult to surmise the level of anxiety most patients felt waiting for treatment.

If I could give a zero for this location I would! The doctor was not warm or welcoming….she had a snarky, condescending, unprofessional attitude and seemed to belittle my symptoms and concerns. I am extremely disappointed in the care and services I received here. Don’t waste your time or your hard earned money here. The receptionist was thoughtful and kind….however once you get to the back, all of that went out the window! Hire more empathetic, knowledgeable, patient, and pleasant physicians! After reading other reviews obviously other people have experienced poor service here as well! It’s sad!!!!!! Best believe, I will never return to this location and would encourage others to see treatment elsewhere.

This place is absolutely horrible. Waited almost an hour to be treated for a UTI because my primary doctor’s clinic was closed. Both the person who checked me in and the nurse who took my vitals were nice but the doctor (who was the only doctor seeing people hence the hour long wait) not so much. I kept asking another nurse how long the wait was going to be but she kept saying that there were like 4 people in front of me being treated. The exam room was dirty and the treatment area smelled bad. I will never go to Patient First again!

I was surprised. There are lots of one star online reviews and that was not my experience. The wait room was clean, there was an option to wait in your car, staff was friendly and the service was fast. Probably the best urgent care experience I’ve ever had!

There are other Patient First Primary and Urgent Care locations closer to where I live, but my family (including the grand babies) and I go to the Bowie location because we know that we will receive excellent care. We trust the doctors and nurses here. They are professional but friendly and caring. This Patient First is always clean and inviting with procedures in place to protect us from Covid. No matter the medical emergency I feel calm throughout my visit. I observe that they receive a high volume of patients but everyone receives the same courtesy and treatment no matter what they come in for. The intake staff members are friendly and welcoming; they are outstanding in their handling of the patient forms and answering questions. The doctors and nurses have saved us from unnecessary hospital emergency room visits and fees. Thank you Patient First Primary and Urgent Care - Bowie!

I am not sure how this center got four stars but I wish I could give them a zero. I went there and got a prescription. Not even 5 hours after taking the medication I started to feel not so good. I tried to wait it out with the hopes it'll go away when that did not happen, I contacted them about either changing the medication or help me understand what was happening. I was told no one was available to talk to me and would be given a call back. Well that call did not come until the following day at the very end of their work day to tell me to pick up another medication. No apology, zero acknowledgement of the horrible painful night I had or the fact that I had to wait so long to hear from someone. She simply said "I don't know what to tell you, I just got the message". Her professionalism was none existent and clearly could care less about patient health. The worst treatment ever.

I love visiting this exact location anytime I have a medical issue that requires attention. In my opinion, it is the best Urgent Care in Prince George’s County, MD. If a friend was looking for an Urgent Care facility, without hesitation, I would definitely refer them to your location in Bowie, MD. The entire staff is extremely pleasant and caring. Definitely two thumbs up… three if had the extra appendage! Great experience!!!

The practice is run efficiently. The staff and physicians are polite, professional and knowledgeable of their areas of concern. It is a one stop shop for urgent care concerns. You can get an x-ray, blood work, and your prescription filled on site. My only complaint is that the check-in terminals monitors are not cleaned through out the day. There were multiple fingerprints from the previous users. Disgusting! Overall a well run facility.

The Patient First in Bowie Maryland exceeded my expectations. Upon walking in I noticed how clean and orderly the waiting area was. Even the glass where the intake employees were sitting was spotless, I work in the supervision of cleaning and have been doing so for over 30 years, so when I walk into any place of business, the first thing that I look at is the cleanliness. I was very impressed, not only was the wait area spotless, but once I was taken to the back to be seen that area was also clean and neat. I waited in the room for about 45 minutes, which I don't think that was to long due to the fact that there were other people that were sick as well, so we have to learn to be understanding to the fact that they need time with the doctors as well. Once the nurse came in she was very caring, respectful, and she made sure that she took care of my needs. She also took the time to explain to me how the prescription that she prescribed to me was going to work. I am so thankful for this Patient First. I started to go to the local emergency room, but I am so glad that I didn't. Thank you.

I brought my adult son in to be seen due to being sick for over a week and knew he was dehydrated. We knew with everything going on (snow/Covid) it was going to be a wait. We arrived @10:20am and was discharged @5:30ish. By 1pm they were no longer accepting new patients so we understood how busy everyone was. We saw a lot of impatient patrons and or patients giving the staff a hard time and I will say that staff member was extremely professional, calm and did their best to de-escalate every situation. As for the interactions and service my son received, it was awesome! I don’t know how the physicians, nurses, technicians or the office staff can take the verbal abuse that they do daily not to mention they have to be just exhausted mental and physically yet they treated my son with such professionalism and compassion with every interaction they had with him and me. Even though they must of had a 100 things going on with so many more patients to deal with they still treated him as if he was their only patient and were very thorough with trying to diagnose his illness. Not once did we feel they were trying to rush through examining my son. This was his 1st experience at PF and I my 6-7 time at a different location and it was and is always top notch service. The men and women live up to the name Patient First and they’re very appreciated!

I have not by choice gone to this location twice because of illness and primary doctor wasn’t available. Each time the wait time has been EXTREMELY unusual. First visit waited 3 1/2 hours before I saw a doctor and yesterday left after six (6) hours and still didn’t see a doctor, medical technician or in-take person. No one could give an answer as to when I would be seen. I WOULD NOT recommend Patient First at all. The medical doctor should evaluate staff and needs of patients. Patients shouldn’t have to wait extended time for service and staff if short staffed or inadequately equipped should be evaluated. Businesses should evaluate trends of services and adapt. For me both times have been poor customer service. If I could have given a zero or minus zero they would have earned it. Not one star. I do not recommend Patient First!!!!!!!!!

The staff were courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. It was challenging to wait two hours to be treated though, I appreciate the app letting me know when I was to be seen. Finally I wish I was able to wait to be seen in my car like I was previously. I didn’t come in with a respiratory issue and many people in the waiting room were coughing. Being able to wait in my car would have reduced my exposure to other illnesses. I understand the change in policy but would have wanted a different option for myself.

I felt very comfortable, with the way the staff, nurse, and doctor treated me and my wife. Each and everyone are very friendly and caring. This is the first time I saw everything in a hospital going smoothly with a smile and discipline.

I arrived after 4 pm. Checked in fast. Vital signs taken fast. Assigned to exam room somewhat fast but after that at 7:31 pm still waiting to see doctor. No one ever stopped in to give me update. Just had me sitting there in exam room waiting. I asked if I had been forgotten. I guess today was a busy day and really my concern was not viewed as urgent although urgent to me. At least update the patient while waiting in an exam room. Curtain drawn but I could hear laughter. They do have the right to laughter but I have been here over 3 hours. Not acceptable. Send me home and tell me to return because not viewed urgent. My last time to come here. Something must be done to improve wait time.

Wonderful and grateful. Last week after my exam and labs, Dr Paster told me to go to the hospital. I thought he was crazy. I went, my WBC count was through the roof and I was admitted and treated for sepsis. Followed up today, he took time to read through my hospital chart, did a thorough exam and and labs, and found some things of concern he told me to report to the hospital docs. Dr Paster is the best PCP or equivalent I’ve had in my life (I’m 70). He is very knowledgeable, very pleasant, very thorough, and obviously cares about his patients. The other health care staff, and admin folks were efficient, ftriendly and caring. Despite the large number of patients the Bowie office sees, most of the staff recognized me and greeted me warmly. I will recommend Patient First to everyone. Thank you for a great service!!!

I had a great experience and felt like my needs and questions were met. The staff was knowledgeable , friendly and I didn’t have to wait long at all. My only complaint is not informing the patients of their copay at the time of the visit and automatically charging their credit card after the visit, I mean the consist is listed on the insurance card. In my opinion that’s insane and unprofessional. In all my years I have never heard of such a thing and that will have some impact on my decision to return.

I came with cough after week long cold and was very satisfied with the care I received. I had x - ray done immediately and was very happy to find out my lungs are clear and I had bronchitis. It was great to be able to rule out the worst right away . I was told also that I got Covid test . Received my medications right there in the facility and started the course of recovery. My visit really put me at ease and everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Thanks !

Came in on Saturday with what turned out to be a broken ankle. Was seen in an hour or so, x-rayed, given a completely inadequate splint, and told to get an orthopedic appointment on Monday. Pain got worse overnight, went to an ER in Annapolis. Was admitted to hospital after a dose of morphine and manipulation to set the three (!) breaks. This is a fine clinic for routine stuff. If you have a non-trivial problem, hang the extra expense and go to an ER.

FIRST AND LAST! I came here expecting to get quick service but it was anything but. The checkin process was fairly quick but waiting for the doctor was unnecessarily long. There were more personnel than patients so the reason why it took so long I have no idea. I do agree with another review there is NO sense of urgency and staff are parading around making themselves look busy. I also communicated my specific preferences which went ignored. Also, I don't know why it is okay and acceptable to just have curtains as a barrier to the room entrance...what type of privacy is it. You can hear everything being said so be prepared for other patients to know exactly why you are there. So much for HIPPA compliance. So between those three I will not be back to Patient First.

Everyone who we encountered was wonderful and caring. I was met with patient individuals during a time of crisis that was not life threatening. The tech who took my xray allowed my husband to help me onto the machine but made sure my husband was not in the room and closed the door for the actual xrays. The doctor was kind and very patient as I explained my situation. She recommended several options and allowed me to choose the one that fit my needs best. I enjoyed my experience and am on my way to recovery.

A customer comes to urgent care in pain and agony time is off the essence. At this facility they don’t protect your personal information. The nurse was asking me questions about my visit with the door open. I told her she had to close the door she proceeded to state that I’m rude and I have an attitude. I told her privacy is my right and waiting at the urgent care for more than two hours without being seen by a provider is a waste of my time. If there so busy I have other options. She then stated I don’t have to be seen. I ensured I wasn’t going to be charged and left. I went to express care in bowie as was in and out in 35min

***BEWARE, BEWARE*** This place is horrible. The wait times are generally over 3 hours. They should change the name to: “come on in if you have time to kill, but you are better off just going to the ER. “ I also recently visited and had an actual M.D. tell me that I was just looking for narcotics when I asked for a refill on my prescription that I got from this location for sciatica. I would hate to say that Dr. Paul Wu is racist but he came in and said “hey what’s up?” Not hello I am…. Or…. How can I help. Nothing professional! So he had read my file before he came in and had a predetermined mindset before we even met. He also blatantly said that the Dr. I saw previously was wrong even though she went to Harvard and he didn’t. Then he proceeded to storm out of the room without a proper explanation. But either way, the customer service isn’t great, it’s not the cleanest location and the wait times make the actual ER time look appealing. STEER CLEAR OF THIS LOCATION!

Check in staff and nurse was very pleasant. Dr. Akwara was decent during our visit but very transactional. She did not follow up on her promise to run a lab after I left. She also referred to me a specialist. When I called to get the referral, she told the nurse to refuse because she wasn't my primary care doctor. What reason would a doctor refuse to complete a referral other than the 2 minutes it takes to write it? I just felt that was inexcusable. When I tried to escalate my concern, the nurse taking the call hung up on me. This place will always that stain in my eyes.

This was my first time visiting Patient First in Bowie. The most pleasant experience in an Urgent Care environment from support staff to the attending physician. Everyone was welcoming, caring & friendly. Keep up the excellent work!

I felt like they did a really good job. They were courteous. The wait time wasn't too long. It was easy to check in. They were very thoughtful about COVID and making sure everyone was safe. They provided the care that i needed in a professional manner.
