El Maguey has its own personality that stands apart from the other Mexican restaurants in town. The place looked great with all of the wood decor and furniture and was clean. Staff was helpful. Food was super hot and quick, the chips and salsa had their own distinct flavor as well, and I drank from a carafe! I will be coming back to try the other food choices for sure. Lunch menu available during weekdays.

This was a great experience. The food was abundant in its selection and its portion the meal was perfect that burrito came out on a sizzling hot plate that captured my complete and undivided attention as soon as I heard the sizzling and I saw the cheese thick and creamy bubbling up on the burrito I was excited anticipating a bite the waiter was a gentleman and he was very patient and understanding. There was a small toddler who was celebrating his 5 bithday. A, wesome overall expie.

On our way to Atlanta, we had a pitstop in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We were driving for several hours and we were starved! We passed by several restaurants but we had a taste for Mexican food and took a chance on El Maguey! Boy did we make the right decision! The staff was super nice and service was quick. Also the bathrooms were super clean which is a sign to me that the place is clean, which it was. We dined in. I had the El Pastor tacos which were so delicious! Now to be fair, this was my first time having El Pastor tacos, so I don’t have any other restaurants to compare them to, however I believe that people who have had the El Pastor tacos will agree with me that these were delicious. If you are ever in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area, I would recommend visiting El Maguey Mexican restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was great too!

Daughter and I have been eating here probably 3 times a month for the last 6 months and we've just recently got over the honeymoon phase. If you can remember, don't order an appetizer and your meal at the same time. Just wait on your mains unless your in a rush, otherwise you will get everything with in 3 minutes of each other. I've been working through the menu and have enjoyed myself thoroughly, I firmly believe this is one of the best or the best Mexican restaurant in Bowling Green. I recommend you come on down and give them a try if you are skeptical.#166

Great flavorful food!! I did a double take the food was at the table so fast. Our order was relayed to the kitchen in real time with the device our waiter had that could also process our payment. Awesome staff, thanks for an excellent dinner experience

This place is a hidden gem! Service was incredibly friendly and fast, food was generous and cooked to perfection. The quesadilla was yummy, the kind that is too hard to pick up -(( fork & knife worthy)). The 32 oz beer in mason jar is just enough with the chimichanga!

Gave El Maguey a shot since I’ve tried most of the other mexican restaurants in the area. Well, this wasn’t for me. Bland food, though in large portions, it’s not worth the $18 price. Instead of cups, we’re served carafes. Unique, but odd. I poured over the menu several times looking for a moderately priced lunch menu for the weekend, but there was none. Atmosphere and service were decent, but the name of the game here is food. Sorry, this missed the mark for me.

Stopped by late on a Saturday and the place was hopping and we were still seated right away. Our server was hustling from table to table and took such good care of everyone. He was amazing! The food was SPECTACULAR! The four of us ordered all different items and none of us could stop raving. If we had been in town two nights I know we would have gone back the next night. Highly recommend!!

Got a hotel room at the hotel connected to this resteraunt. Our first visit was great so the next day we went back to get an early lunch before we checked out. The light up open sign outside was on and Being from out of town and not familiar with local business hours we saw someone walk in thinking it was another customer so we walked In after to get a table. The door was unlocked and the person that walked in apparently being a staff member, i hope not manager due to the way they responded turned around and looked at us like we were stupid saying nothing so we asked if they were open and then they said no with direspect talking about the business hour sign. I said nicely considering the light up open sign was on that maybe they should lock the doors if they don't want people randomly walking in especially if they are going to respond in an unethical way. We tried to leave in peace only to be stopped by the worker and harassed in the parking lot starting with "can you read" . Whoever that was has poor work ethic and is in need of therapy, not a customer service job.

Tried to eat something different every time I get a chance when I'm around this area this time I had the Enchiladas el magueya and a side of refried beans

Our service was pretty good minus our server not knowing the menu or what had been 86'd, which was a lot of their menu items and drinks, but that's probably because COVID-19...at least their dining room was open!!! Would have got 5-stars if the food was better, my suggestion is to raise their prices slightly and buy higher quality ingredients or hire a bettee chef to run their kitchen. Just trying to help!!

Wet burrito street corn street tacos and skinny Margheritas were all excellent! Better than anything we've had in Midwest and on par with the Mission in Scottsdale! Great atmosphere and clean and a real sleeper from what you might expect. Service was perfect! I have to stop here anytime I'm in the area!

Maybe they were understaffed but when we got there, they said it would be a ten minute wait. After a couple minutes, they sat us then got us drinks. The giant carafes of soft drinks eliminated a lot of refills, but then they forgot about us. It took about 20 minutes for us to place our order. We were anxious to get home so the wait seemed long. The salsa had a strange sour taste to it. My wife hated it. I thought it was odd, but I was hungry. The meals were good. I had a chili relleno topped with shrimp and imitation crab. But they were grilled which made them tasty. We were there a total of 65 minutes total after scarfing the food down. It would have made for a pleasant Sunday dinner experience, but we were in a little more of a hurry which is coloring my review.

Stopped in on our way home from Nashville. We were immediately seated. The wait staff were very kind and quick on their toes. I was amazed at how quick our drinks and food were brought to the table. The food was amazing! I would have to say it was the best flavored chimichanga I have had in some time. Quiet, family friendly atmosphere.

Service was slow, but the quality of the food was ok. I would’ve liked if the server interacted a little more, especially since they were not that busy

My fiance and I were out in Bowling Green, Kentucky on a roadtrip on May 16, 2023. After begging him to go to this restaurant all day from finding it on a ‘restaurants near me’ search I had done, he finally gave in and we went. On google it had a 4.2 star review so I trusted this would be a good place to have dinner. We were seated very quickly and our waiter's name was Lucas who came and got our drink orders very quickly. For my drink, I had a margarita, and my fiance had a diet coke that arrived in almost a pitcher sort of glass which I was very impressed by because my fiance drinks a lot of diet. The chips and salsa were absolutely delicious! I observed how the silverware had a short little tie of yarn around it which I liked a lot because it made me feel their silverware was very clean. I ordered a Lone Star burrito with steak and no black beans. When it came out, there was verde salsa and cilantro on it. I absolutely LOVED it! In terms of price to quality of food, I feel it's right on because the food is just really great! The service was very fast and our waiter was very polite. All in all, I have told my fiance multiple times now, if we ever find ourselves in Bowling Green again, this is where we will be eating!
