I went to Vetkoek Paleis on 27 November 2020. I tried the Beef Burger and Chips Combo. Thank you to Samantha (who works at the restaurant) for recommending this restaurant. The food was awesome and there are so many options to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. Alcohol is also sold at the restaurant. I will definitely go back to try the other options.

Ordered via phone beef ribs from the get go and get asked if I want the special take the special, get to shop and its pork ribs. Then get told they said the special is pork over the phone (when they did not) and i mean i asked for beef from the beginning why even bring up the special if its pork. The previous time we went we got 800g ribs and payed for 1kg - called them to ask do the whey the ribs before or after cooked they said after and said it will be rectified when we come again-above incident was the next time and they just ignored our request that it be rectified.

We ordered two Gatsby's online and the preparation time and waiting time was not that bad (average). We ordered a chicken and a steak Gatsby. I must say that it was a pleasant surprise for northern suburbs Gatsby's. All of my guests agreed though that the steak one was much better than the chicken one. Maybe it was the sauce on the steak one. Because the chicken one just tasted flat. I agree with some of the reviewers that the onions are way too much on the Gatsby's but some Gabba lovers will welcome the onions (maybe). The rolls are 4 star though and lifts the standard but I think the chicken one and the onions justify my 2 star drop but it was a good experience in the end.

I was at Vetkoekpaleis and paid for a Gatsby and Pizza Special - R300. I do not live close to Vetkoekpaleis. When I got home I saw that Gatsby was disgusting. The calamari was tough. The lettuce was soft and old. The tomatoes were full of black rotten bits. The bun was stale. It was awful. And that for R200? I am very sorry. This is unacceptable. They have the worst gatsbys in Cape Town.

Had a steak gatsby from Vetkoek Paleis yesterday and what a disappointment it was. It was more like a sub with a chippie here and there. No spice on the chips, minimal sauce and not a lot of toppings at a R150 it is definitely not worth it!

The food was very tasty! At a affordable price. Loved the ribs and chicken tikka pizza. Although the chicken wings was a lil dry and a lil burnt. Will defnitely order again!

Terrible vetkoek I bought at lunch time they taste old and made me feel sick!

Tonight was the fist time I ordered from Vetkoek Paleis...delivery. Wow. Not only did the food arrive early, it was still hot and looked amazing. The best burger and chips I had in a very long time. Tasty, juicy, sauce-everywhere burger and proper slap tjips. Thank you all for a perfect last-minute dinner decision. You will see me again! 🥰

Best pizzas & jalapeno poppers. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Breakfast pizza was amazing, fillings over the top. Wonderful experience once again

Fast service and good food value for money

If I could give a minus 50, I would do just that. The service at this place is beyond excruciatingly painful. Waited on my order for more than an hour, and when I finally took a look at my order the tomatoe slice was as large as a cow with a thin slice of cheese. Whilst waiting two customers came in to an unattended store front, eventually when the next lot of customers came in someone arrived and they had priority over customers that have been waiting for 10 mins already.

First time ordering. Got a Masala steak Gatsby. Wasn't masala strong which was a bit sad. Chips good so was the roll. Steak wasn't as soft though. Will definitely be going back to try the other dishes though. Very friendly service

Ordered steak Gatsby and chicken vetkoek. Vetkoek was filked with 80% patato, little chicken. Gatsby had very low quality meat on, lots of sinew and fat.

Awsome chips... And food...the husband does not do chips... He had his and some of mine. Interesting vetkoek fillings... Supporting local.

I had their ribs about 3 times now, the first 2 time was good and soft like you want it, BUT you pay more for it than most places for a kg AND i got home and like the other times you open the box and it is not even close to an kg, so i made peace with over priced ribs with a small portion. But tonight i went again and like always i payed for an very expensive 1kg because i know its good, and like always it was small, but it was dry and burnt on the sides, if vetkoek is your thing stick with it please!!!

We previously tried your gatsby's which was a pleasant suprise and this afternoon we decided let's try your burgers. It was so delicious, HUGE portion sizes which makes it so difficult to finish even though I didn't want to put my burger down for later. All I can say is : KEEP UP THE GOOD FOOD GUYS - absolutely a gem of a place. My new favourite place to go for takeout. Kfc, Mcdonalds, steers, burger king and the rest can give up - no one will ever beat the quality of food you get from vetkoekpaleis.

Not a place I"m very familiar with, but recently bought a take-away hamburger from them. The wait was a bit long (but loadshedding obviously does cause backlogs everywhere), but it was probably the best hamburger I'd had in a long time. I will be going back for more.

Please take the Masala steak gatsby off your menu, you cannot call that a Gatsby. More onions than chips, steak was tender but no spice, no masala just bbq sauce. Roll was old, and please do not butter the roll of a gatsby, if you do atleast make sure the chips is hot enough to melt it.

I ordered off the horrible uber eats app, I can tell you these people make the best food I've had in years and they ensure that its safely delivered. My pizza was taped closed to ensure safety and temperature and it is so worth the money. Support them!!!!

So disappointed in the food, I waited 40 minutes for my order in store. I live 8 minutes away from the shop. when I got home and opened the food the vetkoek was hard and dry like those you get in the cheep take away shops. The food was cold and not prepared as ordered. Worst gatsby ive had, BY FAR, qaulity bad, quantity worse.. Never again Thats weird because, the roll was stale, steak was dry, very little chips, taste was bland. Thats not to my standard sorry. This is actually my 1st time writting a review of any sort. , it was that bad yes

Phoned in and my order couldn't be heard so much noise and shouting in the background. Got home...my curry mince vetkoek is now a chicken vetkoek ?! Very disappointing to say the least.

I love the rustic look. Staff were hilariously fun. The fact that the estimated time for food be done was spot on made me extremely happy.

What a let down. We ordered 1kg of ribs and chips. If that was a 600g rack of ribs before it was cooked I’d be surprised. An embarrassingly tiny portion of chips - for a whopping R335…. We won’t be buying from you again

Wil never order from you again. My pizza arrived messed up and the little bit of mince on my Mexican pizza was BURNT! Would not even feed this to my dogs. I have complained with Uber about you.

I really gave it long enough before adding a review here..I placed an order on the 27th December online, paid and everything, It is now the 9th Jan.. and I am still waiting. I have sent several emails, tried calling and reached out via the chat numerous times but absolutely noone has gotten back to me regarding this.
