We had high hopes for a casual lunch after reading a glowing description in Lonely Planet. Indeed, the bookstore had a funky vibe and the garden at the back of the eatery was splendid. Unfortunately, slow and rude service ruined the experience. One person in particular who worked at the cafe was consistently rude with each of us every time we attempted to interact with her. When customers walk to a counter, workers typically look at the customer and inquire how they might be helped - however this person would ignore us until we awkwardly attempted to get her attention, despite being the only patrons up there at the time. Service was very slow - we waited thirty minutes and still not even our drinks had arrived. I understand that there was only one person waiting tables (and she, unlike her colleague behind the counter, was a sweetheart), however several patrons who arrived after us got their food first. My sister went inside to the counter to ask if we should pick up our food from the counter or if it would be brought up to us - the staff person again ignored her then used a rude/aggravated tone of voice to tell her to wait more. By the time we finished our food (which was good not great), I was too full for the berry cheesecake and went to the counter to let the person there know it was no longer needed. She just stared at me, rolled her eyes, and replied, “Ok….”, implying “why do you think this is any of my concern”. Her overall attitude towards us made us feel small, stupid, and unwelcome. In summary, slow service, mediocre food, and one staff person with a lousy attitude.

The book store is amazing, as well, the other stores in the building. The one star goes to the coffee shop. Very unfriendly service, not even the minimum of polite form, as well, the food is overpriced. Since spring we attempted several times, but it happened more often, that we left after a waiting time of 30 mins, without getting any attention of a waitress not at the bar nor at the table. It's very sad to see that such a beautiful place with a big potential do not care about the customers at all

The building is absolutely beautiful and the garden a small paradise in the centre of the city. There is a small bar inside with very good service and amazing quality of products (you must try their cookies and chocolate cake!). The book selection is based on quality rather than featuring just bestsellers with questionable quality. The people who work there know their books, and are very good at helping you find the perfect one. There is a section of Portuguese authors in other languages and a lot of books in English (in case you are yet to learn the beautiful Portuguese language). This is definitely a must-go place in Braga!

Such an inspiring bookshop and cafe. Centrally located, run by an amazing team. A vast collection of books, mostly in Portuguese quite naturally, but also many English language books. Situated in a most handsome building too! The cafe is a wonderful place to relax and reward your tummy too. Super tasty healthy food, all hand made and super! You can spend hours in here!

Just bought my 2023 Moleskine weekly planner at this beautiful place! Very well stocked in Portuguese and English titles. The architecture of the old building only lends it more lovely charm. We didn't eat in the cafe, but walked through and it had an amazing vibe. Raining outside heavily, but the garden looked gorgeous. This is a fantastic bookstore and a great experience to be had.

Many stores are located in this building. The bookstore was carrying various kinds of books. The cafe was serving quality foods and drinks. The interior shops were selling many interesting items.

This is a delightful bookstore, with a café. They have a fantastic collection of books, and it has that ild bookstore feeling to it. The café has indoor and outdoor seating (on a patio out back).

It’s so pleasant that one can find a lovely bookstore with great vibe while travelling. Café and brownie here is tasteful. Staffs are super friendly. Photo allowed. Don’t miss the back yard in sunny day.

Cute bookstore in Braga. Extremely friendly staff. They also have a small selection of gorgeous art. The English section is limited to the classics however.

Overall a good vibe, quiet cafe to study / work or hangout with friends. The cafe is located near the Avenida Central hidden behind a bookstore. Above it is Casa Rolão which was designed by a famous architect behind Bom Jesus and Palácio do Raio, so there is a unique dynamic where antiques meet modern life. However, the drinks and foods are quite mild. It's not bad but not overly amazing either. Pricing is cheap especially compared to other cafes near the area. I still like to visit and definitely recommend to visit though.
