Must try! We drive up north from the cities often and always hit a restaurant on the main drag of 371 but decided to check out "old 371" DT places to eat and so glad we did. The menu is diverse and bursting with flavor. We ordered the pork belly burger, chicken wild rice soup, Thai peanut wrap, red curry dish, and chicken strip kids meal with sweet potato fries & applesauce. ALL was delicious. See photos. Definitely taking the time to go slightly out of our way to eat from this scrumptious menu. Service was excellent too. Ambience was relaxed and eclectic.

First time at this this little gem on Laurel I absolutely loved it! Nice atmosphere clean and some nice decor. They do have a patio with umbrellas for those you chose to enjoy the busy little street around them. Notice people of all ages, dress is come as you are. There was many things I need to go back and try but I enjoyed the blacken chicken salad. My friend had the Greek salad and we both enjoyed adult beverages would recommend to give it a try to others. Menu is not huge but enough to satisfy their customers. The waitstaff was super friendly and very polite, a great group of people!

Sage was great! We had an appetizer, 2 dinner entrees, and a dessert and all of it was delicious! We got the fried popcorn lobster for an appetizer and it was a perfect appetizer, not fishy and very tender. The chicken pesto tortellini was good but the Thai peanut stir fry was very good. The turtle cheesecake was made in house and was very delicious! Overall we had a wonderful experience at Sage and would definitely recommend dining here.

For a while they were hit and miss but I have enjoyed everything recently. I stopped for an appetizer and really enjoyed it and the server was great.

✨Get the sweet tea!✨. This place was buzzing but you’d never notice by the way service managed the flow. This place has a positive vibe to it. And the food was both filling & delicious.

I’ve visited on two separate occasions for out of town work. Top notch ingredients, and creative menu. The food tastes like the chef puts their soul into the cooking. I will definitely be back to try more dishes!

Delicious food! It was a little busy, so I could tell the servers were slightly stressed, but they were all very kind. Would love to see them bring back “Cheap Date Night” as I would definitely be attending!

This time we had a really great server! I wish I remembered her name, but I do remember she has a lip piercing and she was wonderful! Service was prompt and she let us enjoy a very nice dinner together. She was there when we needed something, but did not linger, or come to our table too much. Great, great service! The food is always delicious and we enjoyed the Thai Peanut with Tofu and the Smash Burger with fries. The food is excellent here and highly recommend it!

Was in the area and needed a place to go for breakfast that had vegan options. Note- ask for the separate menu with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free items. I got the Thai peanut wrap with kettle chips. It was the best wrap I ever had. My dad got the veggie skillet and enjoyed it. This place also has a beautiful atmosphere and good music. Will definitely come back for dinner to try the black bean burger.

First visit to Sage. Walked in just before 1pm for lunch by myself and stood by the “Please Wait To Be Seated” sign near the Laurel entrance. I waited at least 5 minutes, possibly longer, and received no service. Multiple staff walked past me without acknowledging, directing, or assisting me. Wasn’t worth the effort to try and flag someone down, so I left. Very unwelcoming experience. I’ve had poor service before, but this is somehow the worst. Love my local businesses but this was pretty unacceptable 👎

We stopped in last Saturday for brunch. I ordered a burger, and my wife got a wrap. We waited over an hour for our food to come out. The burger was okay, the wrap fell apart, and the fries were cold. Our server was attentive, which was the only plus. We had high hopes for Sage but got let down. If you're looking for brunch fair and don't want to wait forever, try somewhere else.

We have been to Sage on Laural many times and enjoyed our meal every other time. Today things changed as our food was less then acceptable. I shared my concern with the waitress that my eggs were raw, the corn beef was tough and the potatoes being over cooked (deep fried). The meal was $17.00. I was not offered a discount on the meal which left me very frustrated with the customer service. Sad I will not be back and will not recommend Sage on Laural to my friends and colleagues.

We got the cheese curds with southwest ranch, the Smoke and Fire burger and the Thai peanut wrap. All of them were fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised by how many cheese curds were served. The kettle chips as a side are nothing special but we were trying to minimize leftovers since we're camping so it's alright! The building is so neat looking inside and I love that in the women's restroom they combined two stalls into one bigger one, replacing one toilet with a chair. Regular stalls are so tiny, and this makes a space that a mom, aunt or grandma could take the kids into instead of using the handicap accessible stall.

Stopped for breakfast and it was very very good and showing a lot of creativity from the chef. Our server Tammy was the absolute best. Totally hoping they start serving dinner again.

Super cute and the food was amazing. The red curry was fantastic. Parking was super easy and free. Next to a lot of cute stores tool. Very good price for the amount of food you get and even though there was only one server when we got in the service was fast and very nice.

Really liked the way they have rebuilt this old bar in Brainerd. They maintained the old building with some great touches of mural art. The food and service was very good. I had a steak entree and it was very tender and not overly cooked. I highly recommend tasting their sauces before you order...they were very unique, good but strong tasting. I would not have added mine to my steak. My son's Curry dish was excellent and so was another's walleye selection. I especially liked being able to make a reservation. The price was high end average for unique cuisine. I will go there again!

WOW! Just wow!!! I’m from Minnesota but moved away years ago. I LOVE Minnesota but whenever I come back I’m always reminded that too few restaurants serve anything more than some variation of meat and potatoes. Oh my goodness - this menu AND the food are outstanding!! We split a couple of dishes - the Dragon Bowl with smoked salmon - beyond delicious! The BLT bruschetta - very VERY good. The Wild Rice Soup was unusually good (although not “quite” as good as my personal recipe - they need to add chicken soup base to the broth, tone down the herb “just a smidge”, and add a small amount of Sherry at the end of cooking). We are now living in Lake Country for 5 months of the year and this will certainly become one of our favorite new restaurants - and because it’s just down the road from the YMCA - it’s a great place to come after a workout. Well done Sage!!! Too few restaurants do it well.

I came in today and the hostess was amazing. I was seated and given water and about 5 minutes later the waiter approached as soon as I received a phone call from my vet regarding my dog who was having surgery. I politely asked him water if he could come back that I needed to take this. The waiter returned, I apologized and explain the situation. I ordered the Spring Roll salad and a diet mountain dew. My drink never came. My salad came and I took a bite and bit into a fatty hard piece of chicken. No worries set that piece aside. Then I took a another bite and the skin was still on the chicken. Not crispy skin but slimy. At this point I investigated further and there was more hard fatty pieces and skin on the chicken. I admit I am fussy about my chicken and at this point I couldn't eat anymore. I told the manager who sent the waiter back over who asked what I wanted to do. I said I can't eat that. He came back with the bill saying they had taken the chicken off. I asked him why would I pay for something I didn't eat. I had a full plate with two bites missing. To which he replied, "you just want to eat for free?". I was appalled I hadn't ate more than two bites. I told him j just wanted to leave please run my card. I asked to speak to the manager before leaving. She attempted to figure out what was going on and I thank her for that. At this point I was just too upset the last straw to say on a stressful day and didn't want to cry in front of the entire restaurant. I have food from here in the past with no complaints.

First time here and I will come back, I got a ipa beer from local brewery roundhouse on tap, and Philly sandwich. The sandwich was unique and had a delicious cheese sauce on it

The decor is great. The servers are very friendly and helpful. The choices are various. They have food for every appetite and dietary desire. Our group of vegetarian, vegan and meat eaters were able to find options. The food is not bad but not incredible. Our group was split on the decision of how good the food was.

Had a very pleasant lunch outside. They were very gracious about the presence of my well behaved small dog, even bringing water for her. My salad was remarkable. Fancy greens, perfectly cooked chicken,. We started with an order of spring rolls, three, not two, and super fresh. The coffee was fresh, plentiful and only $2.50.

Beautiful interior with really friendly, helpful wait staff. Amazing menu with something to fit almost every taste. And even more rare in northern Minnesota: lots of dishes with actual vegetables (that aren’t battered and fried first, though they’ve got those too!). I was craving “something healthy” after a series of pretty heavy meals and stumbled on this place. Spring roll salad was out of this world good (& I’m not usually a salad person). It was crazy huge and they gave me a generous portion of mashed avocado when I asked if it was possible to add on - I was starving after snowshoeing all morning but ended up taking almost 1/2 of the salad home. It was still tasty the next day! Very fresh veggies and great variety, really flavorful Thai peanut dressing and beautifully presented as well. Can’t wait to go back and try more - so many dishes around me that looked fantastic and lots of happy diners too. Thanks for a great first visit!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit there. Food was excellent. Service was good for the work load she had. Enjoyed a nice patio lunch with my fiancé just around the corner from her work. I will be returning, and looking forward to trying all of their menu. This afternoon, we enjoyed the Hawaiian sandwich, and the bruschetta BLT, with soup. Tomato and basil and the house chicken and wild rice. Exactly what I would hope to see from such a niche bistro style restaurant. Thank you.
