I was born and raised in Brainerd, and The Barn was the first place I remember eating at with my Dad as a boy. The pie, the made rite, all amazing. So when I returned after moving away for college after 20 years, this was my first stop. Brainerd had changed so much, but my fond memories of the The Barn didn’t change one bit. The diner is small, quaint, feels like home. The smell of the food was amazing. Take a seat, order quickly, don’t be fussy. This is not a place to alter the menu, this place is meant to order what they have and be amazed. The staff, were friendly and quick. And the food came out even quicker. I ordered two of the made rites with tots. Then I had a apple pie slice for dessert. Done and done…I couldn’t have been happier. Memories, amazing food, simple execution of food and experience. This is what makes diners in America amazing. Food for the masses without bias. This is why The Barn to me, is the perfect diner.

If you like cozy and small town feel then this is the place for you. Service was friendly and quick. They are certainly known for their made-right, but they do have other options. The meatloaf was very good. Mashed potatoes were a great classic.

Looks like a typical dinner. The food is well above average, great even. I had a grilled chicken breast sandwich and fries, coffee, and a slice of warm apple raspberry pie with a scope of vanilla icecream. The pie is the stand out. Would be 5 stars if they replaced the counters, bit dingy. Service makes up for it however, and I'll be back again. I got all that food and a smile on my face for $16.25.

It's a total dive, but the regulars seem to love it. It's like going back in time. The restaurant is old and kinda dirty and in need of repair. One bathroom about the size of a small closet. My bacon cheeseburger was small and dry. My wife's maid rite was just as it should be. The tots and fries were hot and fresh. I didn't have any pie, but it was probably good. Cash only as well. It was just kind of an okay experience at best. Not sure I can recommend this place.

The Barn is definitely a place you need to stop by. I grew up coming here with my grandpa anytime we came to visit and I will never forget those memories. Anytime we visit Brainerd in the future, now that he has passed away, we will try to stop by for another great meal just for him. It may be a small venue but it is different from any other restaurant! The food is amazing, the servers are always friendly, and the atmosphere is great. Highly, highly recommended as it is the only Maidrite place in Minnesota!

You can't find a better place to enjoy your meal with awesome people. Breakfast is always on, the best home made pie you possibly have had, and you can't get a better maid rite anywhere! It's worth your time for sure!

Passing through Brainerd after a week of camping, and happened to stumble into town during a boil water notice. The Barn was one of few independently owned spots to eat still open (obviously not serving tap water during the notice.) There was a small wait, but the staff came outside to let us know about open seating within 15 minutes. The burgers were great, my partners loved the blueberry pie, and the wait staff was very kind. Felt cozy, if a little tight, but I'm kind of a bigger guy. I was warned that the restroom is a bit small (able to wash your hands and sit on the toilet at the same time), but otherwise I'd recommend this restaurant 100%.

This is a small dine-in place in Brainerd, MN. I would say the locals loved this place as it stayed busy the whole time we were there. The place is small. Their chicken strips were good. The porkchop I had was just alright. Not something I would remember. I wish I had tried their pies though because it looks delicious. The server was very nice and accommodating. I wish the place is bigger though. I felt very uncomfortable when I was eating on the booth.

There was very limited seating and parking here, but the food was very good. I ordered 2 pancakes with bacon, the pancakes were very big and fluffy, and were amazing with jelly. Came with some butter on top which tasted amazing. The service was fast and the waitress was very nice. The prices were pretty reasonable as well. If you are looking for a nice diner experience, definitely go here!

Step back in time. The Barn has all home cooked foods. Last Maid-rite in MN. Best rhubarb pie ever. The commercial plates are generous helpings and that smell wonderful.

Wow. This place is cozy and welcoming as can be. The pie selection is amazing, as are the pies. Their sausage gravy is just full of sausage, and that is just the way I like it. Everything was delicious and nicely priced. BUT! Bring cash! They do have an ATM though.

A tradition in my moms family every year at our family reunion in Brainerd is to visit The Barn. Food is great, service is excellent. I can’t wait for two weeks we are coming up from Colorado and I’m bringing my fiancé who’s never been to Minnesota and he’s going to try his first Maid Rite! Also the pies are delicious too

We were passing through for a week at the cabin and we stopped by for pie. We had cherry pie and rhubarb pie, and it was some of the best pie we’ve had with good portions of ice cream. Very very kind owner and her daughter. We will definitely be visiting again when we pass through — highly recommend.

Absolutely worth the drive or even if you live in town or nearby. I love coming to The Barn! I live in Alexandria, it for me to visit The Barn, is so totally worth the drive! The price is right for your meal. The pies are to die for. The owner is absolutely amazing and super nice. If your looking for a good place to go, go to The Barn and get you some really good food and pie.

My husband & I ate here for a date on the town. The waitress was kind & the food was delicious! 😋 It's a family favorite & very popular, because it has that small town diner feel. 🏧 They only accept cash, but do have an ATM on site in order to pay for your check. They serve generous portions, so I had delicious leftovers of my everything omelette & toast for 🍳 today!

I absolutely love this place... If you haven't been there you have to go. The barn is a lakes area staple that has deep roots and a long history. Check out their Maid- rite when you're there.
