Pretty poor career-wise. They claim to especially be interested in applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds or disabled applicants, yet seem to only take on the same sort of people while fobbing off anyone different. They don't appear to read candidate application forms properly, and also won't give you feedback when requested when they get rid of you for someone neurotypical. The interviewer (M) interviewing me (F) asked some illegal questions and made a couple weird comments, as well

We have just checked out of this premier inn, booked for a pre flight stay. We are veteran flyers and PI guests, usually flying from Gatwick North and therefore staying at the premier inn there. We also use PI when travelling for business. They are a budget brand that usually punch way above their weight. With the premier plus rooms being incredibly comfortable. Regarding the Braintree PI: On arrival it is evident that this is one of the older styles. It’s dated and a little Frayed around the edges. However please don’t let this distract you, because once you are through the doors you will get a level of welcome and warm professionalism that outstrips any other PI I have ever stayed in. The public areas and rooms are spotless. The bed and pillows the usual high standard and the location peaceful. We don’t usually eat the Brewers Fayre breakfast, However this breakfast is cooked in house and is good. Service is with a huge smile and the eating area, like the rest of the place, immaculate. A huge 10/10 from us and a shout out to Sian for being so charming Thank you

Stayed here as a couple while visiting friends in the area. On arrival the exterior of the hotel looks a little tired and in need of a freshen up. We had a double room on the ground floor, again it was clean but looking very tired and in need of modernisation. Added breakfast one morning for £9.99pp. It's sold as "unlimited" but it's a bizarre setup where you're asked what items you want, wait 45 minutes for it to be served and then don't get asked if you want anything else. It's £65 per night, don't expect great things and you won't be disappointed. We'd stay here again as it's convenient for us in terms of location but that's about it

We have stayed here before and found the hotel good. Breakfast is served daily and has a good choice between a cooked breakfast and a continental breakfast.

Very pleasant stay, staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast very good, though I must say the sausages were not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel..👍

We stayed here Sunday night 27th absolutely amazing place the nice little touches with biscuits and sweets for our little one. The bed was comfy the room was clean. We had breakfast I'm the morning which was great very helpful and pleasant lady who gave our little boy some sweets after he ate his breakfast. Staff we're pleasant helpful and very friendly well done everyone 👍

This place is in serious need of a refit. The room looked nothing like pictures that come with the booking confirmation, not even close! Very dated, the toilet paper dispenser is what you’d find in a shady looking petrol station!! Other than this it seems ok, close to the huge shopping area that’s literally next door and right on the dual carriageway. NEEDS REJUVENATION!

It's a little dated and bathrooms are not well presented eg. silicone sealing has been carried out very badly, but otherwise it has everything you need. The hotel is far enough away from a busy roundabout not to get affected by the traffic noise and so you get a peaceful sleep. Ventilation is not the greatest. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and the staff who work here are super.

We use this hotel nearly every year for our visit to Braintree Village Freeport. Although it's an older hotel it was clean and suited our needs perfectly. Staff were friendly.

Unless you are going to spend your weekend at Freeport village, this hotel is very isolated from the rest of Braintree and the surrounding area. The service at breakfast was delayed due to one member of staff in the kitchen (her first shift bless, but the hotel was busier than usual) but the lady taking orders took half an hour to take our order, then took about 45 mins to get food, people being seated after us (a couple and a large family) the couple left due to the family being served better, also with priority) when the kitchen was closed, we heard the chef in the kitchen say that the couple leaving took the p*ss leaving, because they were understaffed, didn't get a thank you as we left, just glares, even though we stayed sat patiently waiting for our food, understandable that they were understaffed, but made to feel like we were liberties.

Great place to stay. The only niggle is that the extractor in the bathroom barely seemed to function. Breakfast was good, although a number of buffet items had run out.

Friendly staff and quiet room. Quieter than I hoped considering there were lots of guests coming in from a large local wedding. Clean rooms. A pub/restaurant 1 minute walk and a garden centre!

A bit dated ,no USB charging points, no Aircon, just a noisey fan that kept me awake most of the night, and a toilet that wouldn't flush properly.breakfast was ok but the bacon looked and tasted like dried shoe leather.but the staff more than made up for everything .

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was a little tired looking compared to most Premier Inns. Shower was lukewarm on the hottest setting, and no plug sockets next to the bed. Good location for Freeport and there is Starbucks Tim Hortons, McDonald's and KFC across the road if you want fast food. Staff were friendly but wouldn't stay there again.

Pros. Walking distance to a decent pub. Close to Freeport. Close to town centre. Room ok, bed pretty comfortable. Cons. No hot water for long period on second day, shower pretty ineffective and needs shower head cleaning. Only enough tea bags for one night (we were staying two nights). Overall, exterior is tired, looks dilapidated and really requires work. Staff were ok but appeared to be more concerned with finishing a protracted work phone call before dealing with my enquiry. Reading the reviews of applicants for jobs. The questions about children are definitely not legal. I would probably not stay here again.

Could do better. Blocked sink, it's becoming the normal thing for premier inns these days. Room was insanity level of heat, no aircon in the rooms so a 12inch fan is available if needed. Did like the amount of sockets available and all of them could be used. Not a bad place but was only there for a night so it was a short visit.

The breakfast was really small. Smallest has browns. Tiny eggs. Thin sausages. Bacon ok.

Right near Freeport village was the sole reason we opted to stay here. It was a typical, all be it small premier inn, however with seemingly paper thin walls. Could hear everyone else talking, walking, doors banging all night.

Friendly staff, clean hotel, good food and comfortable bed. AV socket on the wall is a nice touch, a tiny bit of skirting board was missing in my room and that was it. I think I'll survive.

Pretty standard Premier Inn. If you have been to one, etc. Nothing interesting or exciting about it. Reasonably priced, my primary concern, for an overnight stay.

We have stayed in many P Inns this summer and this was by far the worst. It needs at the least new cleaners. The room was crying out for a deep clean..

Room bathroom is mouldy and stained and smelt of smoke. Location is ok, and bed is comfortable and clean. If needs must this is ok but expensive for the quality on offer

When I've stayed here before, the place was high quality and rooms fresh and clean. When I had an interview here, the same could be said. Unfortunately during my interview I was asked if I had any children, which I'm pretty sure isn't allowed. What business is it of theirs if I have children or not? It is none of their business, as all they should care about is that I can do the hours specified. If I couldn't do them, I think I would have specified this / not applied lol. I have a feeling they wouldn't have asked a male candidate this question ... 🤔 Especially if you consider the sexism around the subject of children and working women ...

Slept perfectly. Breakfast was lovely and the coffee was delicious . A wall socket either side of bed would have been great but this is only a small niggle. Staff were friendly and professional and made us feel very welcome !
