St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Department

Emergency room Hospital department

😠 Been here since 12:45 pm. They took blood around 1:30, urine around 4:30,still sitting in waiting room at 7:37 pm. One of the ladies working the check in desk(Tiffany) was very disrespectful towards us as well as other patients. I'm guessing something was going on, because I've had better experience... People often mention time, pain, hospital, patient, care, doctor,

I always thought when someone that is in severe pain along with the fear of the un-known, would hope and expect the nurses in the ER being the first form of contact would be full of empathy, re-assurance, and gentle, helping a patient feel they are in the hands of some caring knowledgeable person....St Francis ER is not the place if that is what you are hoping for. This is not just my experience, but so many others too. It is sad to think those that do go into nursing as a vocation are getting tarred with those that are just clocking in and out. I think they forget who is actually paying their salaries.. My experience was prior COVID. But recently another family member also had the same experience, treated like a piece of meat, while another older couple was told to take a seat and wait while the wife was having chest pains, the husband was so upset he left to go to another ER, I prey his wife made it there. Those nurses that think chatting about social events instead of chatting to a patient needs to re-think their career choice. Unfortunately the ER service I'm sure is making people wary of the hospital treatment they may need....shameful. To those nurses that truly care we all thank you and bless you.

I probably could have avoided a c-section if it weren’t for the on-call delivery doctor (really wish I remembered his name so you can avoid him). I was already 8cm dilated by the time we arrived at labor and delivery, and out of fear I asked if it was too late to get the epidural. The on call doctor looked SO frustrated and said I probably don’t have time and just left the room. The nurse (she was so sweet) went ahead and called for the anesthesiologist and they were able to quickly administer the epidural. The doctor came back in and checked me REAL QUICK, like it didn’t feel like he even checked me, and said that I was ready to push. So, I started pushing. An hour later, the nurse said she really didn’t think I was ready to push so she checked me, and she was right - I was still only 8 cm and was not ready. I ended up swelling down there from all the pushing, baby’s heart rate started dropping, and then... c section. I recognize this was partly my fault for asking for the epidural (I did not insist, I literally just asked), but I really feel he could’ve done a more thorough job checking me. My husband was completely puzzled by his lack of concern and thoroughness. I saw him twice, and each time he stayed for less than a minute.

This is the second time I come here and leave with nothing but a you’re fine. HealthCARE is not a human telling you Google stuff. I also requested a phone call from the doctor and he still hasn’t called but I bet after the review I magically get a call. This hospital doesn’t care much about patients. I also called them twice and the ER section keeps hanging up. I went to my care provider told him I was coughing blood and he prescribed nothing. And lastly when they were removing the IV thing they yanked it and make me drip a lot of blood onto the chair like woooooowwwwww the flea market hospital.

This review is directly to the outpatient infusion center, or OPIC, at St. Francis Hosp. I have been going here for treatment as part of my history of breast cancer and I have been disappointed on several occasions, including today. The front staff changes all the time and they continue to have incompetent people behind the desk. The access is undesirable for working individuals, with their last appointment at 4pm. I had a 4pm appointment today and was rescheduled because the person behind the desk was too lazy to enter my new insurance info into the system. I did not have my physical card but I had all the information available for them to use (picture of the front and back of my card). I wanted to make sure it was on file because I did not want a huge bill after my injection because it wasn't entered into my account. She looked so confused and lost and clearly did not know how to troubleshoot anything. I went home (since I live 5 minutes away) and literally returned at 4:15 to provide my new card for my later appointment and they had closed....at 4:15! I met a nurse as she was walking out the door and simply said 'sorry, maybe you can call and provide the info'. I explained that I had the info the first time I came in. So much for access Bon Secours Mercy Health!! Do they even work a full 8 hour day??? I am so frustrated because good customer service is so hard to find these days and it surely hasn't been found here at the front desk (on several occasions). If it wasn't for me doing my part to take care of my health, I definitely wouldn't come back to this place.

Wonderful healthcare facility perfectly located in the heart of Midlothian. Quick access from 288 and 76 Interstate. The valet service is really friendly and courteous. The volunteers were really helpful too. Very professional employees and very dedicated doctors. Nice and comfortable waiting areas with TV screens and free coffee and water for patient’s family. The chapel is perfect for meditation and praying. The cafeteria was full of good healthy choices. We are really appreciate for having this modern facility in our community. Good job St. Francis Medical Center.

Dr. Robert Dumas in the emergency room is very rude and does NOT have good bedside manner. He is pretty much there for a paycheck and being that I was treated unfair at 27 weeks pregnant and I’m black really makes me question giving birth at this facility. I love my OB doctor but this is the second experience that I have had at this location with others outside of my OB that appears to be racist and rude. Never returning and will be contacting the patient advocate because this is insane.

Was kicked out of the ER waiting area because apparently there is a rule that children under the age of 15 are not allowed in the ER area unless they are a patient. This rule is not posted anywhere in the ER that I could find and no one could produce written proof of this rule. Additionally the check in attendant delivered this information in such a rude manner.

I'm pregnant and was told that I had covid and to just go home. I showed every severe symptom. I didn't come just for a diagnosis, I came for treatment. I should have been admitted, not sure if they just didn't want to deal with a covid patient or a medicaid patient. I was told to go home at 1 am, after telling them I felt unsafe driving an hour home, scared to fall asleep, they wouldn't do anything to help me. Said it was okay for me to sleep in my car on a freezing night while pregnant and having covid. I love my obgyn here but the lack of care tonight makes me scared to have my baby here, knowing my concerns will be ignored. If I thought I couldn't handle this by myself I would've stayed home. I needed help and didn't get it

Coming to the emergency room is useless. I am unable to lift my arm. I specifically asked for no pills but an injection instead. The so called nurse said no they didn't do injections specifically cortisone injection. I should have went to the VA hospital or another hospital. He gave me a pill(oxy) to take the edge off I don't want to take the edge off I want to be pain free and lift my arm again. I left here how I came in, in pain. I had on my discharge papers to see an orthopedic. The level of medical care in this country is a joke. Why aren't orthopedics or chiropractors or specialists part of the ER staff so patients can get the care hey need at the ER and not have to follow up and still leave the way they came in but? I bet you all bill the insurance company a lot of money for doing absolutely nothing! I was here for about 5 hours and left still in pain. The amount of people who come through the ER for muscle weakness or pain, neck and back pain, shoulder pain etc. Orthopedics specialist should be part of the damn staff. You waste time and money going to the ER, when they want you to follow up with a specialist and then spend more time and money to get a new appointment with the specialist. It's all just wasteful, useless, pathetic. Healthcare should not be complicated. Previous Review: I would not recommend this hospital at all if you need an MRI done. They tell you to arrive 30 mins earlier in which it's not necessary because tgey come out and get you when they feel like it. Also, if you suffer from chronic neck or back pain you will feel worst afterwards because it takes about an hr. I was so uncomfortable during the entire process. Find a facility that does stand up MRIs. Lastly the tech was somewhat rude and he initially misread my order and what areas should have been scanned. I wasted my time going through the process and he didn't even scan the areas where I was hurting the most. I'm sure it was on my drs order. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. After today I will not be returning.

The hospital where our grandson was born. The doctor and nurses are so understanding & dedicated. The volunteers were really great. We’ve never had an issue with either of them. Office staff is great too – very friendly and professional!
