The Slovak National Theatre is a magnificent architectural landmark situated in the heart of Bratislava, Slovakia. It is a venue that showcases some of the best theatrical and operatic performances in the country, and it is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in the performing arts. The interior of the theatre is breathtakingly beautiful, with ornate gold decorations, plush seating, and an imposing stage that is perfectly suited for grand productions. The acoustics are also impressive, providing an immersive and unforgettable experience for anyone in attendance. The performances at the Slovak National Theatre are of an exceptionally high standard, with talented performers showcasing their skills in various genres such as classical opera, ballet, and drama. The productions are always well-rehearsed and executed, and the sets and costumes are stunning. The theatre also has a great lineup of contemporary performances, which is a refreshing addition to its repertoire. National theatre. Opera, ballet, theatre all can be found here. Nice place, great productions. For opera and ballet, try wearing something elegant.

There was a perfect evening with my kid. It was semi-children opera. My daughter was playing during the Entracte with her seating. Then I heard «playground is outside, go out” from the service (Barbara, I guess). We haven’t disturb anyone. But it was rude.. The evening was ruined:(

We were at the Mouflon Ancijáš show, Braňo Jobus is a famous person, I applaud his imagination and everyone who helped him realize this show.

I went to watch the Nutcracker in December and it was incredible! Amazing dancers, I recommend it if you are in Bratislava. The show I watched was during the day, so the dress code was not as strict as in the evening.

Amazing colorful and joyful performances La fille mal gardèe - good choice when you wish to relax. Suitable also for small kids.

We did attend to “Die Fledermaus" and liked it much. If, for example, the productions at the Vienna State Opera are too modern for you, then I can highly recommend events in Bratislava.

A little bit older architecture - there is one bar that is crowded in between the acts. But the play was amazing. The seats were comfy

A very beautiful building in the heart of Bratislava. We have been there on a Sunday morning, so it was closed.

Wonderful place full of great cultural experiences. Parking here is quite expensive, you can choose to park in Eurovea instead 😉

I've only been a couple of times for ballet and opera, but I was impressed with the excellent acoustics. There are multiple bars and coat-checks, so it's pretty convenient when you want to see a show. If you have a student/teacher ID card then you can get discount tickets, both at the box office and online.

Visited to see production of War and Peace, which was remarkable experience. Talented actors brought this theme to life, punctuated by moments of humour. Packed audience was a good mirror to the performance. This wasn't my first neither last visit. Highly recommend.

A very pompous building that predicts a really good experience in terms of content. The rating is for an externality that convinces.

The performance was beautiful, but ruined by the staff bad attitude. The new theatre does not have enough bathrooms and bars to effectively serve all the customers during the breaks! There were lines worth of 20min (length of the break!) for the female bathrooms and the bar which meant we only could choose one or the other. Stood in the line for drinks for 20min only to be told at the door back to the seats that we cannot take the opened sparkling water bottles in and have to drink them outside. When I went to the bar to ask for a bottle with a lid on, I was told that they don’t have any screw on ones. When I asked why the theatre sells bottles that cannot be taken inside despite such long wait times, the staff replied that “it is not their problem” and to go to speak to the manager. The second act of the performance was already underway so was not worth my time. I have a few recommendations for SND to implement: More bars, serving areas (including on the top floor) More staff to service customers during breaks to shorten the wait times Customer service training that teaches staff that their role is to actually help the customers to have a pleasant experience Plastic / paper cups or bottles that can be taken inside More female toilets Please do not let a bad customer service take away from the amazing performances that happen on the stage!

Amazing building design ergonomics, especially inside. Cosy halls, where a good amphitheater provides a great view of the scene. Spacious spots with enough space for the knees, perfect temperature (it was quite warm in the winter), and good acoustic.

I love ballet and live music. Nutcracker is a must of Christmas season, anyways the quality of ballet in Slovak National Theatre is very high.

The Performance Ballet with Sľuk is a must to see. The combination of national singing and dancing with classic ballet and "contemporary" dance was a pleasant experience.

They recently have renovated the interiors with Italian Marble. which looks classy. It has operas and theaters. Opera also has a sitting in the balcony whereas the theater only has ground level sitting plan. A must visit

Although in Russia, but we really enjoyed Adela and her guests. (Original) Znechutil ma stav sedadiel... Evidentne je tam zanedbana udrzba. Uvadzacka nas usadila na nespravnu stranu.... Very nice place to visit. The program of the theater includes plays, operas and concerts. The actors and actresses are famous in Slovakia and is interesting to see the set so close. The plays are in Slovak language that could be a bit of disappointment if you don't speak fluent, because is hard to follow the cultural jokes and specific conversation. Personally I enjoy the plays and for me is advanced class in Slovak language and cultura.

This is a landmark in Bratislava. It is a Neo-Renaissance theater building in the Old Town of Bratislava, Slovakia, which formerly housed two of the theater's ensembles (opera and ballet). It was founded in 1920 after the creation of Czechoslovakia as a cooperative and became a state-run company in 1945.

Slovakia National Theater consists of several buildings and each one of them is massive. If you want to a bus at Nové SND, which is the national theater, you might end up not knowing where the bus stop is since the place is simply huge. For example if you want to take bus 90 to Danubiana Art Museum, it is recommend to do a recon in advance or arrive 15 minutes early in order to find the right bus stop.
