Fantastic but relatively hidden gem just 20 min away from Bratislava. It has amazing views of 2 rivers merging on one side and beautiful hills on the other side. One can totally imagine the strategic location and importance of such a castle. There’s plenty of free parking. You will have to take a short 10-15 min hike to the top for the best views. The tickets are reasonable - 6 euros for adults, 3 euros for kids and seniors. There’s also a family ticket for 12 euros that includes 2 adults and all kids under 14 years. Just about half way to the top, there are some nice interactive demonstrations led by castle staff. There’s small permanent exhibition in the castle. But the view from top is definitely the best highlight. There are a couple of restaurants right in the parking lot that also serve ice cream.

Amazing castle, with great views. Toilets are available to use inside. The entrance to the castle is a short walk up hill, there are benches along the route should you need them. We sat on one to have our picnic. The carpark is below the castle and there are restaurants there, ice-cream huts and a small souvenir shop. The entrance fee is not too expensive but not the cheapest castle fee we have paid. You can walk around the castle freely but there is also a guided tour. There are also interesting expositions as you walk around. All in all a good day out!

Beautiful place, we went on a day trip to Bratislava and found this place. We had time to visit it. It pays to get in. Had a nice walk. It’s children friendly. Great views of the Danube and Morava, honestly I wasn’t expecting that. In the distance is the Bratislava skyline. There are a few other historical sites in there, below the castle. Devin is also cute little village, or rather a borough. Would recommend, also you can eat there, and go down to the rivers. 8-10km from Bratislava center, public transport or by 🚲.

Just beautiful!!! Serene experience. We were on a short visit to Bratislava and we are glad to have explored this place. Taking the early morning bus to this place, the journey itself began beautifully and the place was just beyond beautiful. Nature at its best. The views of the villages, fields, river (where you can see border with Austria), forests, and the castle. It was amazing. The fresh air, clean water, greens everywhere.. filled my heart and soul with peace. Definitely a must visit place if you are planning to go to Bratislava. The premise has washroom facility, drinking water and lots of benches to rest. It's kids friendly too. Overall a great experience being here.

A must see if ever in Bratislava! We hiked down from Devinska Kobyla missile base but you can get a bus from downtown Bratislava for 0,97€ one way. When we visited entry was 4€ rising to 8€ in peak months. Well worth the money. An interesting castle to visit and spectacular views all around! The extended route didn't add much to be honest other than a bigger loop but not much else to see other than the basic route. Toilets and water fountains in the castle (water fountain not working when we visited although).

The castle ruins are about a 15 minute drive north of Bratislava. I drove through the town of Devin to get here and it does give you the feel of driving through a small eastern European town which is great in addition to visiting the castle. Similar to any castles in Europe: Be prepared to climb steps and hills! But worth the tranquil views of the Danube, Moravia and Carpathian mountains once your up top. If you're lucky you'll see some sheep grazing on the way up. Walking around the grounds also gives you views of the Danube and cool war monument

Really great castle. One of the best sights from the Bratislava card. Best views of the river danube. Lots of interactive activities including archery and armour wearing. A bit far from the city but well worth the travel. Can spend half a day here

The ruins here were amazing to walk around. My wife and I were here in mid November and the wind was intense. Enough so that I really needed to keep a grip on my phone for some photos. The walk up to the castle wasn't bad and it's definitely worth a visit.

Worth visiting as it is easy accessible via bus or even an Uber that is like 10-15€. No need to purchase a ticket in advance. The price per ticket in the winter is like 4€ but during summer times it gets double. The tickets you can purchase using card but for the souvenirs you need cash.

This castle has a history dating back to the Roman period. There is currently not much aside from the structure but the view is indeed worth the price of admission. The castle commands a precious view of the river, town, and surrounding areas and it is indeed peaceful to watch.

Visit this for one of the best views of the outskirts of Bratislava. The castle has historical importance, and it being on top of the hill gives you a panoramic view of the surrounding. It is situated very close to the Austrian border. You can see the delta and Danube from up above. Very good for children. Recommended to visit once you're in Bratislava!

What a fantastic experience for people of all ages. ‘The Castle’ is a set of ruins, and are really beautiful to behold. The whole place is well maintained with stunning views and good pathways. The small museum at the top is very interesting. The castle won’t take more than an hour to tour. There are lovely little restaurants at the bottom of the hill - get yourself a bratwurst or schnitzel after! - and a lovely little river walk around the edge of the hill which takes you past the Velvet Revolution monument.

Nice views all around the castle. What i find interesting is the original character of the ruins has been kept. The cave has some interesting items on exhibition. When at the top the view of the river is simply amazing. The climb is also not so difficult but at some points slightly steep. Ticket cost us 6 euro per person which is reasonable. Outside there is ample parking which is free.

This castle offers stunning views on the corner of two rivers merging, not too far from the centre of Bratislava 🥰 There are great information boards throughout offering history and tales in both Slovak and English! The tickets are a little on the steeper side for the size of the place but I recommend taking a slow walk around and really taking in how beautiful the waterways, especially the Denube are!

We took the boat down and spent two hours at Devin castle, which was great! The place is very beautiful and there is a lot of text around in both Slovak and English. The well is especially cool, and they keep a bucket nearby that you can fill up and dump down. All of the views are amazing, and the site is super interesting. The only downside was that we went on a weekday and there were a ton of school groups running around, but other than that it wasn't very busy.

A piece of history from the early Slovakian era. The castle is standing on a cliff on Danube Bank, with Danube flowing underneath the castle. The view from the place is simply breathtaking. We spent a lot of time here appreciating the beauty and the exhibition they presented. This is a must visit while in Bratislava.

I was surprised at how historically interesting this location was. It's definitely not just a pile of stones. The pathways and information plaques are top notch, and the view on the Morava and Danube colliding is spectacular. There are also numerous walk and bycicle routes nearby

really worth making it out here. the visibility was not crazy good but still get to see the river convergence and residential houses on the other side. amazing to be at the very point of so much history. also loved the woody public structures, such a sleek modern vibe that contrasts the history-laden site

8 euros and 75 meters up. The climb is neither very steep nor hard. Great view of the Danube and the Morava. The museum is included in the price; we decided to skip them, but you have to buy tickets to enjoy the view.

We visited on a sunny but cold day of December with clear skies and we enjoyed it so much! The views are breathtaking...same as the history of the castle. The entrance ticket costs only 4€/person and it's definitely worth it!!!! I highly recommend it for all the above plus it's very close to get from Bratislava centre!

Public accessible castle with nice lookout and surrounding area. This historical place is nearby merge of river Morava to majestic river Danube. Interesting part is that other shores of these rivers are foreign country - Austria, as only a half of rivers belongs to Slovakia. Border is actually defined by middle of the river. There are several options for a walks, having a coffee or even ride on horse. Recommended!

One of the best places to visit around Bratislava. Great view of the Danube River on one side and other side the beautiful valley. Very well maintained and very reasonable entry fee of 2 Euros. You can walk all the way upto the top through steps. Also interesting is the story depicted regarding the demolition of iron wall between east and west. Highly recommended from my side of you are visiting Bratislava. Best time would be between June to October.

It's a nice castle that provides an epic view of the surroundings and the Donau. They have a few exhibitions as well. Also they offered some fun medieval activities like jousting and archery, free of charge inside the castle. The people helping with the activities are great and very friendly. They are dressed in more traditional medieval clothing. We were helped by a very enthusiastic guy that seemed to know everything about the castle and medieval life. Highly recommended!

Must visit if you are in Bratislava and have some extra time. A small hike would lead you to the castle or the remains of the castle. The view from the top is brilliant as you can see the Danube flowing on one side and the other side overlooks the mountainous terrain and you can also see beyond the border of Slovakia towards Austria. Serene place and is usually less crowded. The ruins are untouched and you can get a free entry with the Bratislava card or pay 6€ per adult if you don't have the card.

40-45 mins journey from Bratislava city centre and well connected by public transport (probably 29 no.bus), frequency every 15-20mins. It’s really nice place to visit in the corner surrounded by river and village. One can also reach via cruise. Amazing top view. Restaurant’s around the corner with plenty of spaces for parking. It should be in travellers bucket list.

Beautiful day at Devin castle. This is a very nice ruin castle with great views of river Danube and on a clear day you can see Austria and Hungary In the distance. This is a very important historical landmark for Slovakia. These ruins are beautifully maintained with safe catwalk or stone steps. Walking through the ruins many views reminded me Of scenes from fairy tale movies.

A Timeless Gem Where History and Nature Converge. Nnestled majestically atop a picturesque hill overlooking the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers, is a true treasure for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. As a visitor, I was captivated by the awe-inspiring beauty, rich heritage, and breathtaking vistas that Castle Devin offers. Approaching the castle, I was immediately struck by its imposing silhouette against the backdrop of the stunning natural surroundings. The ancient stone walls, towers, and ramparts stood as testaments to centuries of history and resilience. The well-preserved ruins exuded a sense of grandeur, transporting me to a bygone era. Exploring the castle grounds was a journey back in time, filled with fascinating discoveries and historical insights. The informative signage and exhibits provided a glimpse into the castle's past, sharing stories of battles, royalty, and the lives of those who once inhabited these walls. The atmospheric ruins, secret passageways, and hidden chambers sparked my imagination, allowing me to envision the castle's former glory.

Wonderful old castle ruins situated in a perfect position over the Danube. Superb views and only 8 eur entry. Take the 29 bus and it's nice and easy but a good 15min walk from the bus stop and lots of steps up with in grounds.

Even though not much of the original castle is left, these ruins are absolutely worth a visit. Easily reachable by car or by public transport from Bratislava, this location offers a small museum, beautiful ruins and stunning views. The 'hike' up the mountain is also not as bad as it seems when standing at the parking lot. Another plus, especially in summer, is the drinking fountain installed on the central square of the castle!

A bus ride away from Bratislava Old Town and well worth doing on a clear day. Fantastic views. We could even see the mountains in Austria. This is doable in a morning and you can still be back in the old town for the afternoon. I would recommend taking binoculars for the views, also good for birdwatching. The woodland area next to the castle has a path to walk along which was also nice to visit.

History of this place goes back to the Roman period. We were there during winter holidays and luckily the day was sunny and bright. Though there isn’t much left of the castle but the panaromic vista over Danube and Morova river connecting is worth every penny

when I think of a castle, this is what I think of. This is not a reconstructed castle that looks like a modern building. This is a full-on, medieval castle in its Glory. I visited in freezing January, so large parts of the castle were closed.I would have liked to see the upper Castle, but I did get my fill with what was open. tickets are very inexpensive, and the woman at the ticket booth spoke perfect English. Unfortunately I had not a lick of cash, but they do take credit cards.

Well, this historic place is truly impressive. It is located at the strategic position- confluence of Danube and Moravia rivers and inhabited for 7 thousands years. At some point it housed Roman legions and not so long ago it was a post of iron curtain. Just few kilometres outside of Bratislava. Really a must.

The Devin Castle ruin is a must see if you are visiting Bratislava. It is situated at the confluence of the Morava and Danube River. The location was used by the Romans to guard the frontier of the empire and to keep an eye on the tribes beyond the Danube. Since then others have built upon the foundation. More recently, Napoleon demolished the castle to prevent if from being used, leaving it in its current state. This is the site of a wonderful bit of history!

Absolutely gorgeous!! Took a boat cruise from downtown Bratislava to the ruins, spent a couple hours exploring the grounds (entry prices very reasonable), and snacked at the nearby cafes. Highly recommend this outing when in Bratislava, it was the highlight of our trip!

Devin's Castle, in itself, is not much. You come here for the view. Oh, the view! A 20 minutes drive out of Bratislava, you can feel the freshness in the air and silence all around. There is a €3 ticket for the visit, but that is completely justified. Outside, you will find a vending machine with souvenir golden coins for €2. There are a few shops and restaurants. I highly recommend a visit, preferable during spring. You will not regret it.

Sometimes you come across places of outstanding beauty, and this is one such place. Well worth the walk up and €6 to get in and walk around the ruins. I wish I had stayed until sunset as I imagine it would have been spectacular. You can feel the history of the area with each step. It must have been a truly imposing place in its heyday. I would 💯 recommend a visit

The day I went it was actually closed, but it was a sight to behold, the pictures don't do it justice. We walked around the area and went up to the gates, it was still a fun day and there's lots of history in the area to behold. The river bank is also beside it and the view is just breathtaking.

Amazing place and view. There are several zones to see - including old houses basements and of course the higher part of the castle. If you go there by bicicle there is a beautiful bike path following Moravia river.

Nice historical castle ruins on the outskirts of Bratislava, near the Danube River and right on the border with Austria. When we visited (Monday) the castle was unfortunately closed. It was still nice to admire and walk around the castle but definitely recommend to visit during opening hours

Devín castle is one of the oldest castles in Slovakia. The castle was likely first mentioned in written sources in 864. It is an important castle for Slovak history. A very nice place to walk around with plenty of benches to take a break. There are also these "mini" exhibitions about history of both the Devin Castle and Slovakia. With a relaxed pace the unguided tour takes about and hour but you can spend as much time as you'd like.

A beautiful castle with amazing views of the two rivers. It's near a forest and up a hill. It was a little foggy in the morning but it cleared later on. So, I recommend you to go in spring -summer season. To enter there is an entrance of 3€ and there is also a hiking route if you're into it. You can take the bus 29 from the center to go there; it's 20 minutes more or less.

Very interesting, spectacular and large ruin complex. I takes around 2 hours to walk the whole area, check the exhibitions, caves and great views on the danube. The site is very well maintained and easy accessible also for smaller children. The entrance fee is 8 Euros for adults, 4 Euro for senior people and it is free for disabled. It can be paid by cash or card at the ticket office at the main entrance. There are some nice restaurants next to the parking lot. Great excursion spot for a whole day.

We got here for opening at 10:00 using the number 29 bus which was quick and easy. I recommend getting there for opening as it was getting quite busy as we were leaving. The castle itself was impressive and the scenery was stunning, there was also plenty of information on the history of the site (and area), overall this led to a really enjoyable visit. Highly recommend.

It was worth it! The good thing is it's easy to reach with public transport and you don't require to book the tickets in advance. There is also a pub/restaurant and a souvenir shop nearby. A lovely trip.

A must visit place for every foreigner in Bratislava, also a good place for hiking. Nice landscape views.

It's a nice tourist site. Not as busy as the main sites in Bratislava, but also not as pretty/large as the castle or main downtown of Bratislava. On the weekend there were crowds, but not so much that it ruined the experience. Parking was available and appeared to be no cost (we biked in, so didn't park). Lots of restaurants and wine vendors. Restaurant prices ranged from typical for the area or a little less expensive.

Very interesting place to visit 15 minutes from Bratislava, with car-bolt (which is very cheap means of transport). Great views to Danube and Morava. They accept only card for the admission.

Pretty cool castle, right on the banks of the Danube. Very popular on a Saturday so luckily there is loads of parking. The ticketing is a shambles, no online ticket pushcart option, leading to a big queue at the gate. The gift shop is also very small and limited options, if you want something useful live a guide book. Worth a stop though, if you are in Bratislava

Lovely castle and grounds. Stunning panoramic views of the Danube. Plenty of walking and steps. Easy to get to from Bratislava. Catch the 29 bus from most snp. The stop is just under the bridge next to the road.

Very nice place to visit. The view was very nice. You can spend there around 1-2 hours. Also you can visit the surroundings if you go to the castle.

It is very easy to reach there by bus from Bratislava. And the entrance ticket was just 4€. Totally worth the visit. You get some incredible views from the top. Tip: Sunset views are totally amazing!!!
