Stunning spot! I live just beyond the canal basin and it is simply a heavenly place. A nice big marina with a nearby theatre cafe. There are also barge rides, canoe and boat hire. The footpath along the canal is just wonderful and you can go as long as you wish to, all the way to Newport if need be. Nearby pay and display parking but the only toilets are in the theatre. The footpath is wheelchair accessible.

A lovely wheelchair accessible walk/roll along the canal path. Only thing is there are no coffee shops or pubs within the first two miles from the basin start point, which was disappointing, there are also no public rest rooms along the way. Some great places to stop for a picnic as wonderful views etc. If you go here, be prepared :-)

Absolutely 💯 beautiful place, good for wheelchair and dog walking, only complaint hedges need to be cut right back as too overgrown, had to walk single file because of this bushes/nettles still brushing against us. Cafe closed at 3pm even though there were a lot of visitors around, not good 😐

Absolutely beautiful area. Had a lovely long walk down canal. Was so impressed with how clean everywhere was. Not only on the bank but the water too.could see the fish swimming around.how brilliant too to have a dog poo bag dispenser on the canal side. Have never seen one anywhere else. Obviously helps with this problem as we didn't pass any dog mess at all 😊. Would definitely love to have a stay in this area. Brecon Town is definitely on my to stay list 🥰

Nice place for walk along a historical canal, and a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake in the Brecon Theatre. Also boat trips if you fancy it.

A great place to start a walk along the canal...away from the basin, with it access to the theatre, cafe and adjacent parking. Leave the basin by going under the canal arch and proceed along the canal path, past delightful cottages, sports field and on into the countryside. We did our walk in bright autumn sunshine and zero degrees on the thermometer- well wrapped up, it was a delightful experience. Zoey the dog met new friends, canine and human, enjoying new smells and valley vistas as we went. The town centre, lying behind us as we walked is delightful too. Already decked out with Christmas sparkle at the time of our visit...

Break in the weather so we popped in and enjoyed a nice walk along the tow path. Had coffee and cake at the theatre cafe. Excellent quality and service.

Very nice, with theatre and cafè on site, and depending on fitness levels. The canal is a lovely walk, can make it short on just keep on going.

What a beautiful place to visit. Whether you decide to walk the canal path or take a trip on a boat the surroundings are beautiful. We booked a boat for 8 of us to celebrate a birthday and had a fantastic time and what an experience. Would definitely love to take a boat out on the river again.

Where the Brecon-Monmouthshire Canal begins! Adjacent to the canal is the Theatre Brycheiniog and its newly refurbished cafe, which you need to visit after your ramble by the canal.

Very relaxing and pleasant 2.5 hour tour along beautiful cultural landscape. The captain and his crew were wonderful and welcoming people who cracked lots of jokes. The atmosphere was pleasant and informal.

Lovely gentle trip down the Brecon Canal in a tourist longboat. Lovely scenery, teas coffees and delicious cake served. Smashing way to spend a couple of hours. So reasonable, just £12 per person.

Pretty town. Eventually found a nice place to get coffee and cake. Lovely to see the canal boats and you are able to walk along the river. Unusual cathedral to look around.

Must say great walking up and down the canal, can do some fishing if you want? (Not sure if you have to have a permit) walk to the theatre where you can have some food and drink from the cafe looking over the canal and even take a ride in the boat up and down the canal very nice place worth a try and visit.

Very picturesque canal basin, a lovely place to go and explore Brecon from. The town and attractions are easily within walking distance, with many interesting galleries, coffee shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. The modern theatre is adjacent to the canal here and there is a good bistro café within the same building.

Pleasant flat walk along canal starting at Brecon. Very hot day so a paddle in the Usk was very welcome!

What a clean and tidy walk. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing the fish and the ducklings. Our only annoyance was with a group of lads going way faster than they should have been on the canal, it stirred up so much silt and mud from the banks. This spoilt our fun of fish spotting so we turned back. Overall, a pleasant walk was had.

This is a little gem of a place to visit. Didn't realise you could book a canal boat trip at this beautiful place (will book one on our next visit) so we took a lovely stroll down beside the canal.

Lovely walk along the canal, originating at the basin. Ideal for dog walkers. There is a cafe on the first floor of the building next to the basin although we didn't use it. There is boat hire and the Brecon town centre is not very far away. Parking looked to be cash only at first but we did notice you can use the Ringo app.
