Interesting place full of history. Not so well maintained exhibition with plastic-wrapped posters and definitely NY-level entrance prices. Not easy to climb ladders within - it gets tougher the higher up you get. Absolutely amazing views of the area, and friendly staff.

One of only two working lighthouses in the country, visiting the lighthouse is a great way to mark the experience of visiting the southernmost tip of Africa. The little museum shows a fascinating history of lighthouses and how this one was built and later restored. The climb up the 71 steps and ladder is terrifyingly steep and definitely not for the faint of heart or the unfit - but worth the reward of the amazing view of the bottom of the world.

A quiet, peaceful and beautiful scenery. I don’t know about the inside of the lighthouse but the outside and surroundings are all good. Great for an afternoon/morning walk

Well worth the drive. The Southern most tip of Africa. A beautiful small, quiet town. It was quite windy but we made it. We couldn't do the lighthouse as it was closed.

Another wonder, Southernmost tip of Africa... Tickets can be bought there to visit to Lighthouse. It's fun & adventure to climb up to Look ligthouse with kids. Advisable to carry warm clothes/ windcheaters as it's get windy and cold.

A must do part of the Southern Tip of Africa experience. Spend the money and climb the 70+ steep steps to the top, it is so worthwhile. Very welcoming staff, too

Beautiful place. A must-see for all. The nature reserve does not allow any dogs any more. There is various species of creatures and birds that is breeding and nesting and they need to be protected.

Great opportunity to climb up to the top of the lighthouse.... Took the whole family 👪 including a three year old girl... Its not for the faint-hearted or claustrophobic and/or acrophobic... But what one gets at the top is amazing... A view of the southern most tip of Africa 🌍.... So great.

At the southern most tip of Africa, this is a gem and it gives great views over the entire area. The steps are very steep and it can be challenging so climb carefully, but getting to the top is totally worth it. It costs R35 per person to go up and it's best to wait for other to come down before making your way to the top. Bathrooms are clean and accessible.

Cape Agulhas Lighthouse is smaller than the others in height it seems. It has three floors of upward stairs to reach the top of the lenses. It's really a nice view from the top of the same. Thanks

A Tourist Attraction. Magnificent 🐦 birds' eye view. Choose a day of no wind. Please find attached the disclosure. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠... I always worry about visiting 'tourist traps', expecting to leave disappointed or with a "I told you it wouldnt be worth it". However the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse is more than just a tourist attraction. There's a lot of interesting history and architecture that define the lighthouse. We visited the Agulhas region around a year ago and of course, the lighthouse thats sits on the southern edge of the village of L'Agulhas had to be on our neverending list of places to see! Built in 1848, the 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝-𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 and the third to be built on the South African coast. The 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 (I could go down a whole rabbit hole of history on its design...) 🧐↘️↘️↘️ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭? Well, you can climb the 71 steps to the top of the tower and get fantastic views over Agulhas NP and the ocean 👀 Theres also a museum in the lighthouse thats interesting to have a look through. The museum is both a great historical source of the lighthouse but also of old fish traps used hundreds of years ago by the indigenous Khoisan people. . Not recommended if you have a fear of heights, but beautiful views, and quite fun to do. The last ladder (pictured) is a little wobbly, so just be aware. Proper shoes are ideal, don't wear sandles or flipflops. Ladies, do not wear a dress, the last ladder gives everyone a view, as you need both hands, and its quite steep. Otherwise, a great experience. PS... WATCH YOUR HEAD

So much history to see and experience here. It took 90 men to build the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, which is the second-oldest working lighthouse situated at the southern end of L’ Agulhas in South Africa. This is the southern most town of Africa. The light house stands 27 metres above sea level. #shortleft

Cape Agulhas Light House is a wonderful old museum and lighthouse. The lighthouse looks over where the Indian ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Agulhas. The light house is run by the nature Conversation Park San parks. There are 3 areas, one of the 3 areas is free and comprises mainly of school projects of the Cape Agulhas and ocean pollution. The other 2 areas you need to pay a small fee to San parks to enter. The one room is an all history of the area and the light house plus postcards of the most outstanding light houses of the world. The 2nd part is the ability to climb up the stairs and ladders (61 steps) to get to the top of the lighthouse which give a magnificent 360 degree of the agree including the Southern most point of Africa from a distance. Well worth visiting.

There is a lovely wooden pathway that leads to the lighthouse and a few steps on the top. It is R40 per person to enter and on the ground floor there is a museum with information and history about all the other lighthouses in South Africa. There are 71 steep steps to go to the top 3 flights of wooden ladder type steps and the last ladder could be quite a challenge for elderly and people with leg issues. If you manage to brave the climb the views are stunning.

We arrived just before 4pm and unfortunately couldn't go up in the tower to view the lighthouse housing area. It was a shame since we drove quite far to visit. Otherwise the walkway up to the lighthouse is very scenic. I would suggest that they add a railing next to the stairs which head up to the lighthouse building or some form of support since the stairs could prove a challenge to some less active people. The lighthouse history area where one can read about the various lighthouses of South Africa was extremely interesting and worth the read.

👍👍 I initially wondered what would be special about visiting the Southern tip of Africa, but I shouldn't have. On a very sunny and clear day, being at the point where the Indian and the Atlantic oceans meet was a very memorable experience. Big open skies, sweeping views of two oceans at the same time,...
