Services was lame. Had to send back my Italian cream soda because there was no cream. They didn't bring out our kids food until 10 minutes after serving my husband and I. The chicken fried steak had a nasty smell and texture and the gravy was a clumpy mess of goo. When she finally asked if we wanted boxes, after never coming to check on us and never getting drinks refilled, I said no box because the food was not good at all and I couldn't eat it there was no offer of apology, discount, offer or a replacement dish, nothing. The only things that were good were the honey mustard dressing on the salad and my kids chicken strips. Sadly I do not think we will be returning. My husband said his burger was ok but he was starving so that is not really a glowing report.

Big Apple Diner is one of my favorite places to eat! I highly recommend their biscuits and gravy, and I found a new favorite the last time I went. "Coconut Almond Waffles". Their breakfast dishes are unbeatable. I hope you love it as much as I do! ❤️🍎

We've been going here for years, and this is the first time we've ever been totally disgusted with the food and the service. Just because we're not a daily dinner I was totally ignored. Drinks didn't get to the table until after the food, and I watched as she went to other tables around us and took care of them while ignoring us. The chicken strips and fries were overcooked, and the gravy on the chicken fried steak tasted like pure pepper. The wait staff responded that they were just busy, but we've been there when it was busier and gotten great service and excellent food.

TAKE A PASS - Stopped in tonight for dinner. There were 5 tables with 4 waitstaff. I was with my husband and we each ordered the half sandwich and cup of soup. My husband asked what soup choices there were and was told clam chowder or chicken noodle. We both ordered the clam chowder. I asked if I could get a tuna melt and was told yes. I replied ‘oh good I don’t feel like a sandwich with two pieces of bread’. It took about 15min to get the plates delivered. Well the soup tasted right out of a can. As you might suspect my tuna melt arrived as a sandwich not open faced. My husband went to pay and we were up charged for the clam chowder and I was up charged for the clam chowder and the cheese on the tuna melt. Seriously, how do you make a tuna melt without cheese? And why weren’t we advised when offered the soup that choosing clam chowder from a can would be up charged? The explanation - they were running around so busy and we could find it on the menu! Well, if we needed to ask what the soup was we clearly did not see it on the menu. They felt arguing was appropriate and kept insisting they had been so busy they didn’t have time to tell us. I said there are only 5 tables with people at them and there are 4 of you standing here how can this be considered busy? I eat out often, multiple times a week with my travel at work this is the first time in 20years I asked my husband not to leave a tip. On the way home he said ‘this is the first time I have heard you say the food was terrible, usually when you don’t care for it you just say it was ok’. That lets you know that is was more than a disappointment it is a place to not go to.

Very tasty diner food! Loved the eggs benedict, hashbrowns, clam chowder and banana split milk shake. Husband had steak and eggs along with an assorted deep fried seafood plate and he enjoyed it as well. The potato pancake was decent. All in all the meal was enjoyable and customer service was great!

This is my second time coming here. Love their food here. Also, love how it gives that back in the day vibe. They have anything from breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, and dessert. Including milkshakes. We ordered the big apple specialty plate with spam and two eggs. Super yummy!

Probably my favorite chicken fried steak so far, and the hash browns were buttery, crispy goodness. Fresh cinnamon rolls are currently 2 for 1!!

I always enjoy eating at Big Apple Diner. The food is good and not particularly expensive. My favorite meals are the Coconut Waffle, Chicken Fried Steak, and the Crispy Chicken Salad. Honestly, in my experience, every meal has been delicious. The diner is always clean and the staff are always very friendly. Would recommend giving the Big Apple Diner a try.

This was the first time going to your place and the food was great wife got the bacon and eggs with a side of sausage gravy, roommate got the big appreciation Benedict and I got the chicken fried steak with a side of sausage gravy. All food was great and super delicious service was prompt and our waitress was very nice. Only complaint I have is that the chicken fried steak could have been cooked a little more so it had that crispy crunch to it. Other than that the food was wonderful. Will definitely come back

We visited Big Apple Diner for breakfast and dinner. It was incredible both times. I am SO picky about my prime rib and this was cooked to perfection! My veggie omelet was one of the best I've ever had! My kids devoured their meals, plate size pancakes with sausage links bigger than my finger. Chicken strips and fries, clam chowder and fish and chips. My kids are picky eaters and they ate every bite! But the best part aside from the delicious food was the staff. They were there whenever I needed a refill or more onions. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. So thankful for such good service. Good service AND food is hard to come by. I ate 3/4 of my prime rib before taking a photo

This looked like a great little diner! It has a lot of eye appeal, but sadly it ends there. We have been several times and the service is hit and miss. Sometimes it is good and then it it is lacking. The food is over priced for what you get compared to other restaurants in the area. The quality of the food has been inconsistent just like the service.

Good, old fashioned diner. Shakes, burgers, the works. Terrific menus. I had the Monte Christo sandwich. Haven’t had on in years. It was first class! Place has great 50’s ambience. Very attentive service all at a reasonable price. This was my first visit but I’m going back to try their liver and onions!

Came for my husband's birthday brunch. Was unusually busy (more so than we've experienced before). Took 15+ minutes to be seated. Once we were seated our waitress got our drinks and food order quickly. Our food came, and I misunderstood the California Benedict as having an English muffin which it doesn't. Our waitress quickly got me one. The food is standard diner food but one of the only places with a soda fountain and malt. The decor and atmosphere is all 1950s diner. Though it isn't aging well as seen in the bathroom where things are broken, dirty and need replacement or updating.

Steak & eggs, everything was cooked perfectly. Steak was tender & juicy, prefect medium. We were promptly greeted and seated. They serve breakfast all day! The caramel coke is a must! Highly recommend

One of the best diners around! A really great place! The vibe of the place, the many good options and even some great deals! We will be back... ... Also try the cinnamon roll! 😁😍

I noticed an artful glass partition dated 1997 by the artist. This place is a throwback to a throwback of 1990s Dinner revival. Consistently delivering classic comfort food for breakfast and lunch for decades.

Server was great but the food was not what it use to be. Had to ask If the chili used on my chili burger was canned chili "spiced" up (never got a clear answer) needless to say very underwhelming McDonald's burger patties have more flavor. Mom had the Ruben it had minimal sauerkraut very small amount of meat and an excessively large amount of Thousand Islands Dressing and butter from the grill making the sandwich soggy not so much toasted.. definitely not the dinner style of food my mom was seeking

Amazing restaurant for breakfast, the chicken fried steak is incredible. The wait staff is polite and food is brought out fairly quickly. The atmosphere is great and I would highly recommend this diner.

Maybe because we went at an odd hour and a week day, the diner was not crowded, and we got fast service. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were "wow" (the only way to describe it). The "big apple omelet" is what I had and it was delicious. I'm definitely going back.

In making arrangements prior to visit restaurant said they no longer took reservations, but they would do their best to accommodate our party of six. Boy, did they! I was first to arrive; I found a table for six all set up for us. And, while restaurant had previously said that they could no longer accept separate checks from individuals in a group, it was confirmed to me that they would. Yay! When two more of our group arrived unannounced, they too were easily included with the rest of us. Table service was impeccable. Food served to all of us at the same time--no one had to wait. And, the quality more than lived up to the restaurant's reputation as the home of comfort food. No doubt we'll return!

Kitchen got backed up and we had to wait a ridiculously long time which is not ideal when you have a hungry toddler but when the food did come it was soooooo good. I had trout and eggs, daughter had teddy bear pancake with a side of scrambled eggs and my mum had a garden croissant. Overall delicious and I will go back. Update: came in day after Thanksgiving for something other than turkey and the coconut almond waffle was delicious! Still love this place! I wish they would bring back their trout and eggs though, that was my favourite. 😞

We went specifically for dessert, and they did not disappoint! I look forward to going back just to eat here. The malt was delicious, fries cooked just right, pie serving large, service excellent.

  • 2/5 Ally D. 1 year ago on Google
I had no real problems with the service, but nearly everything on the table was a disaster as far as taste and quality. Bland and cold food, criminally undercooked meat, and soda that tasted like the machine has never been cleaned. The French fries and shakes were the only decent things I had, so at least there's that. I probably won't try here again.

The menu is fairly standard mid-century diner fare. Their best dish IMO is the house-made corned beef hash. The Egg Benedict's are particularly good as well. After that, I haven't been surprised by items on the menu. But the coffee is good, the atmosphere fun and quaint.

Stopped here while in town. There is a huge selection and good portions. The veggies in the omelette were crisp, the cinnamon roll was soft and warm, and we got a slice of chocolate cake to go! We're too full to eat it now, but it sure smells good!

This place used to be great but the food quality was terrible. My wife ordered steak and eggs and had to ask them to cook it a little longer. Ended up getting food poisoning. Won't be going back.

Great cinnamon rolls, top 5 chicken-fried steaks in Washington IMHO. Traditional diner experience, helpful, friendly wait staff.

The food was great, very kind staff. Kid friendly. If you have a family or are coming back from the Dickerson creek trail / waterfall it's a great stop to add with great prices and food Its made me come back multiple times love this place.

Portions were good, but I ordered roast beef, and they put bacon in the vegetables and likely the gravy. There was no mention of bacon on the menu. They do the same with bacon in Mexico, but I don't like it Service was good, but there was a surcharge for using a credit card. There was no mention of that at the register.

This was our first time there but wondered our last. Its a classic American diner and our breakfast was great. Big portions, great potatoes and plenty of veggies and ham in my omelet. We can't wait to go back and try their lunch menu.

We often eat here for brunch or dinner. Cool little retro dinner decor and music. The food is good and the service friendly. I love the caramel coke and my husband loves their malt milkshakes and the phosphates soda. Definitely recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice.

We love dropping in here to eat. The atmosphere evokes comfort and good food. They never disappoint! I don't know our server's name, but he has worked there for many years. It was nice to see his friendly face.

Disappointing. We arrived around 11am, and the place was not busy, maybe 1/2 full. Out of the 3 breakfast's we ordered all of them had at least one part, if not the entire meal barely warm. When one of us returned their pancake, the server actually said "yeah, he put that in the window way to early". Obviously acknowledging that she pretty much knew it was going to be cold, yet served it anyway! Really!?? There were other issues with another meal as well, that weren't sent back. We've always had very good food here in the past, so maybe this was an isolated incident? We'll probably give them another chance, but probably only one more if it's like this one.
