My partner and I have just come back from our Holiday at the Mango Bay hotel. From the moment we arrived to the sad day we left, we were looked after impeccably. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff were just the most friendliest I've known! The hotel and location is just stunning! We loved that we could be in the pool then pop straight into the glorious sea! The food......oh my goodness! We thought it was devine! Perfect portion sizes too! I personally loved that there was so much variety and healthy food! Our last day was topped off by the waitress Samantha, who had organised with the chef, for us to have a rum drink out of a coconut, after I had told her that was my dream at the beginning of our holiday! I miss you all and wish I was still there (but with my girls too) Huge thank you to .. Damian, Samantha and Onisha and all the staff! Stu and Robyn x

Returned to the UK yesterday from a 14 night stay in Barbados. The hotel really was the worst part of the trip. The rooms are tired and have reached the stage that they cannot be cleaned properly. We had a room in the standard block, apparently the upgraded rooms are better, but I do not recall being offered one of these during the booking process. Half way through our stay, a new landscape painting was attached to the wall over the bed. This speaks volumes for the mentality of the management / CEO. What the rooms need is at minimum a full refurbishment, not a new picture hanging. On arrival, there was no running water. This was due to a burst water main which was not the fault of the hotel. Apparently not all rooms were affected though. The porter who checked us in an carried the bags to the room did not choose to mention that there was a problem with the water, we could not shower until day two. During day two a member of staff asked us how we were enjoying the hotel. I mentioned the water problem and she put the problem back to me by asking why I hadn't asked to shower in one of the rooms that they were reserving for guests who needed to shower before the travelling on their last day, silly me I guess. The food is poor. Breakfast is the same thing every day. Beans / scrambled eggs / potatoes / bacon etc. Elements of the breakfast were often undercooked. Vegetarian options were also very poor. I had bland stir fry noodles more than once for my main course. During the NYE buffet, my girlfriend ordered a prawn stir-fry. The prawns were seriously undercooked (grey in the middle and could not be cut through). The table decorations were very nice though, again this seems to be the attitude of the CEO, focus on the superficial appearance for the website, but not the actual quality. In other events during NYE it began to rain, so the staff chose to pull the carbon monoxide releasing grilling station into the covered area in which the guests were eating. As an added bonus I saw the largest cockroach of my life so far, the waitress helpfully used our menu to smack at it after it was pointed out. The quality of the alcohol / cocktails is poor. All cocktails are mixed from a variety of syrups with a couple of shots of rum. I found these cocktails to be very hard on the stomach. The waitresses and waiters are trying their best but seem to be untrained. Sometimes I felt like I had two minders standing over me whilst I ate. I felt like the second my plate was empty it was snatched away. Again, I do not blame the staff for this. I blame the CEO for not providing the staff with the proper training. The reception was very helpful. They booked us a hire car which we used more or less every day to get away from the hotel. They also helped us book taxis & locate a PCR test. The location is lovely, marred only by the beach peddlers trying to sell jet ski / water sports / jewellery / foot massages / cocaine / cannabis. These peddlers are some of the more aggressive ones I've met on a holiday and the hotel should not allow this on its section of beach. Another bonus is that there is a Massey supermarket nearby, so you can purchase food and drink. The hotel is 2.5 stars at best. I have stayed in nicer rooms when I used to go on budget holidays during my early 20's to Greece. I will be emailing a complaint to BA holidays as the current rating for this is misrepresentative. In summary, Barbados is fun but this hotel is not. Please save your money and book somewhere else. Don't be fooled by photos you see, I noticed the CEO herself taking photos of the boat trips etc. Obviously these look great on social media but are simply to put the hotel into a positive light and fool potential guests, the CEO also seems very keen on replying to negative reviews with cookie cutter / copy and paste messages. Somehow I feel that the CEO, Shireene Mathlin-Tulloch will try to blame her staff for this review, I just want to reiterate that the staff were extremely helpful, they just seemed to be poorly trained.

No real welcome after an 8 hour flight. Handed a load of disclaimers to sign. Zero attention or input from staff. The staff were excellent and worked so hard. Some of them just lacked training in service standards and building professional rapport. There was always a feeling of desperation in the restaurant and no real attentive service. In a nutshell after staying all over Barbados for many years this is really a 3 star hotel with a 3 star service but 4 star prices. Another very important challenge the hotel faces is the local men selling their wares, massages, boat trips to guests staying at the hotel on the hotel beach. Whilst polite most of the time I felt threatened twice so much so I stayed off the beach for 48 hours and thought about reporting it to the hotel. The logistics of the hotel, the incredible beach and the friendly staff make up for the spasmodic service which is the main thing that lets this hotel down. If you’re paying 900 dollars a night for an inclusive package I think it’s fair to have food and drinks arrive when they’ve been ordered. On 3 occasions in 14 nights our food failed to arrive. The majority of the staff worked very hard, we’re very pleasant and genuinely did the best they could. A months training delivered by the high profile CEO would make a massive difference

We stayed here for a week end of April 2022 and we could not have been happier. We wanted a small all inclusive for our first trip after Covid. We could not have chosen a better spot. This boutique all inclusive has the best staff we have ever experienced. The resort is right in Holetown with many amazing restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk. However; you will not need to go offsite for your meals. The chef is world class. Three meals a day. Afternoon tea and available quick meals all day. Dinner is the star if this resort. Each night has a different theme. You will have 2-3 wait staff tending to your every need. You can order anything you want off menu at any time. And you won’t be disappointed! The dinners are four course masterpieces. I would NEVER have thought that I would experience the best sushi of my life in Barbados…. But I did. The housekeeping staff were also amazing. Our room was impeccably clean and the overworked staff remade our bed three afternoons when we returned for a nap. They were by offering turn down service every night The on resort entertainment was amazing 4 out of 7 nights. The other 2 …. Well. An excuse for early nights. We will be going back.

Beautiful reset and unbelievable gorgeous beach, some of the best snorkeling one can do without needing a boat, literally 15ft away from shore. Turtles, stingrays, and an abundant of fish and corals. Service is mostly good, but some staff do need a bit of training, as it sometimes felt like you are inconveniencing them with your simple requests. The many Brits also need to smile way more. Like you are vacationing on one of the most beautiful islands, literally swimming with turtles... So why is the memorial face? (Maybe lack of decent tea!?)

Had a Day Pass for my family to go to Mango Bay. This is from 10am to 6pm and includes access to a room, beach, pool, lunch and cocktails. There is a Spa on site but you have to book early and you have to pay them separately as they do not work for the hotel. The room was clean, they had a 'cake' made with towels and happy birthday since it was my mum's birthday. The room patio looks out onto the beach; the beach is of course pristine white sand and clear blue sea. The bath has a nice shower head with tub if you prefer to soak. There is a TV, small fridge, iron and iron board in the room along with the usual small safe. There is a communal pool, which was clean, you could lounge on deck chairs by the beach or the pool as you liked. Open bar so you could get cocktails if you wanted. All in all we had a great relaxing period of time and just wish we could have stayed longer.

A big hello to all the wonderful staff at this top hotel. We had a negative vibe at the sister hotel Island Inn we did not feel very included or welcome as we had a small child. However, Doris, their only friendly receptionist arranged for us to visit Mango Bay hotel which saved our holiday if I'm honest. The welcome was amazing and the amenities excellent. We got a taxi every day from our hotel to Mango Bay and the service each day was outstanding I have to say. All of The reception staff took super care of us with consistency and the comical bar staff and waiters kept us very much entertained. If you are going to Barbados, come here... great place for kids too but def not over run by children at all making it the perfect mix.. All the very best to the management. You run a great hotel and I will be recommending you for sure 5 stars every dept Ps.. we met some lovely families who we are still in touch with too Mike, Thuy & TJ

Mango Bay’s location is idyllic - beautiful beach, easy access to buses and a few shops/restaurants around if you want to dine out. That is also a curse because if you have one of rooms that overlooks the garden towards the streets well… you ain’t sleeping! Extremely loud music on weekends until early morning - bring ear plugs. My initial room had no windows but shutters and mosquito nets but there were huge gaps so mosquitos were already in, plus obviously no windows means no sound insulation from the restaurant and bar. Overall the rooms are a little old and would need a bit of a refresh (and better doors to reduce noise coming from the bars outside). Staff was always nice and amicable, and food was good. Selection wasn’t always massive but this is a small hotel, not an issue at all. Great drinks selection too. Overall I had a pleasant stay but the price/quality ratio isn’t fair. Mango Bay is a nice hotel but not up to the 4* standard, especially not when you have blasting music in your room until 3AM on weekends…

Had an absolutely fantastic 10 nights at Mango Bay leaving on 19 October 2023. The staff can not do enough for you and nothing is too much trouble. Food and rooms outstanding. Wish I had discovered this gem years ago. Thanks for making my husband's birthday special.

This place is near perfect. The rooms at the Mango Bay Hotel in Barbados were excellent. They were clean and the size was great. They have a dresser, 2 nightstands, 2 sitting chairs and ample room to move freely, even with a few open suitcases. The balcony facing the pool was a decent size but would prefer a table and chairs instead of the loungers. There is also a drying rack to hang went things. The rooms have 120v receptacles in the living area and a European style in the bathroom (no dryer provided). There are USB ports for charging in nightstand lamps. Housekeeping did an excellent job daily and even provided turn down service which I always find unnecessary but speaks to the level of service at the resort. The resort is set far back from the main road and other than the entertainment, is quiet except for the morning leaf blower or children playing but windows and doors provide adequate sound break. The beach at the Mango Bay Hotel Barbados is large and clean (no seaweed). There were plenty of chairs available. We never had an issue getting loungers. Towels were hit or miss but were able to get them directly from housekeeping through the lobby staff. I suggest getting them before heading to the beach to save the hassle. The food selection at the breakfast lunch and buffets were decent. The a la carte lunch and dinner selections and quality were excellent with fresh fish daily as well as meat and vegetarian options. I am personally not a fan of buffets for dinner so on the rare occasion that there was a dinner buffet, we went out to eat. With the food at the Mango Bay Hotel Barbados being really good, you don’t really need to spend any money dining out which can be really expensive. Lunch and dinner ranged between $150 - $400 USD depending of course on alcohol consumption but we only had 2 drinks each with each meal. Most have a prefix menu option for around $80 USD per person for lunch and $150 USD per for dinner. The food and views were amazing at the following places within a 5 - 10 min walk. QP Bistro, The Cliffs, Tides. Also, Lobster Alive (25 min drive) is the best place to get spiny lobster. Make a reservation, parking can be limited but there is parking within a short walk. Not the fanciest of places but the service and lobster was excellent as well as live entertainment. Not the fanciest place. The hotel's entertainment was decent. The music is nightly from 8:00 - 11:00. The hotel is family oriented and not a “party” resort but was fun. The Mango Bay Hotel Barbados is in an excellent location in Holetown. There is a high-end shopping mall 1 block away and souvenir shopping, a liquor store, ice cream, a grocery store with a pharmacy, etc…all within 3 blocks. Harrison Cave is not too far away and an easy drive / cab ride. Kids will love it. Animal Flower Cave is another must see at the north part of the island. Skip the Mount Gay tour. It’s not a tour of the distillery. They take into the tiny “museum” at the front and tell you everything that you can read on the walls & a tiny tasting. All-in-all, total waste of time and money. Keep an eye while driving, you might see some mongooses scurrying across the road or a rare green tailed monkey sighting walking along the road. We rented a car and never had any issue parking at the Mango Bay Hotel Barbados. Highly recommend getting a car to explore the island. The taxi ride to the resort is $120 USD. Based on our interaction with the management, she has the guests’ best interests in mind and should be commended for running a near perfect property. The staff was friendly, smiling, and provided excellent service the entire stay. We can’t say enough good things about leadership at the Mango Bay Group and it shows in the staff’s happiness and quality of service. There were zero real complaints to be had at the Mango Bay Hotel Barbados. Food, service, location, amenities, and beach, everything was top notch and near perfect. We were already planning our return before we even left.

Loved the hotel, great value for money, the food was excellent, and the staff couldn’t do enough - especially Damian, the delightful bar tender who dances around the bar and beach to keep his guests happy! Great location right on the beach, and in the centre of Holetown. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Great place! All of the staff are wonderful, but especially the waiters. It's right on the beach and they make a fab cocktail! You get very well fed and watered too!

Guests are complaining about the service level. For me, they need a bellman out front to welcome guests and warmly welcome them. First impression goes a long way.

A wonderful experience being here. I have visited before. Overall appearance lovely. Nicely kept garden and grounds. Bar good, efficient and very friendly. Resturant staff friendly and happy. Rooms however very tired and needing a good paint and lift. Nothing is too much trouble for this great team of people.

I would of given 5 stars but the bathrooms are a bit dated. Having said that great shower and plenty of hot water. The staff are brilliant and food there is something for everyone.

Pros: Staff.. many staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever to much. And they helped make our holiday one to remember Location…. Beach right there. Bus stops just outside, supermarket down the road, shopping centre opposite. Great location Cons: Reserving tables to eat.. limited to what you do because you cant just eat as you please so have to make sure your around for your slot. Food… there wasnt a great selection. And going to the Caribbean i expected authentic Caribbean food to be served but felt a little disappointed that that wasnt the case. Bar closing time… when we was there the bar closed at 10.45 which in my opinion is too early. Entertainment ..( or lack of) Most nights its just someone doing karaoke type singing) it also finished really early. No entertainment for kids … although it states theres ample activities for kids.. there wasnt one in the 10nights we stayed there. Kids amenities… as well as activities.. there is about 2 baby chairs in the whole hotel. Lack of furniture… where the entertainment is on the night there is about 4 tables and about 20 chairs. Not sufficient at all. Cleaning… room service times was all over the place and they dont actually change your sheets. They flip them over. I had to request several times for fresh sheets. In the 10 nights being there i believe my sheets were changed twice. And only because i asked. Drinks.. there wasnt a good variety of drinks. However the bar staff do try and accommodate and create drinks. Really friendly staff. It may seem like a negative review but there was a lot of stuff that i believe needed to improve. This does not take away from the amazing staff they have there. They really do help to make your holiday memorable.

Just home from a lovely 12 day break at this lovely hotel, staff were lovely, especially in the bar and resteraunt, I am a coeliac , and they couldn't do enough for me, all staff were made aware, and they even marked up the menus stating which meals were gluten free, from the beach and pool menu I could have gluten free ham and cheese toasties, and they even changed the oil in the fryer so I could have chips, as well as gluten free bread, they had gluten free crackers, so could also have cheese and crackers after my evening meal, the vodka they had I couldn't have as had wheat in it, they went out the next day and got a bottle of Smirnoff, this really is a lovely, small hotel, beach is amazing, pool very nice, we stayed in a Superior double on the 3rd floor, room was lovely and spacious, huge bed, lovely balcony, plenty of storage, but bathroom let it down with its dated bath, but shower was lovely. We will definitely be returning to this lovely hotel

Staff, room, food, access to the pool and beach perfect. Clean, air-conditioning worked, clean towels for room and sunbeds each day. A truly wonderful place for a memorable holiday. Activities each day, teaching scuba diving, water aerobics. Waitrose a few metres down the road, a few bars , restaurants around the hotel

This is a lovely part of Barbados, Holetown, St James. A beautiful beach and beach walks, great snorkeling on the reef. The sun loungers are mega thick & comfy. All the staff at the hotel are charming funny and caring. The hotel does need a face lift, a bit 3 star at the moment and so is the food. But great cocktails! We had a fabulous holiday and would go back.

We were a family group ranging in age from 13-72 & Mango Bay was perfect. I was impressed with the quality of the food, the beauty of the beach & the welcome from the staff. We were there for the end of Cropover so Holetown was party central, but this added to the whole experience. I absolutely recommend this hotel 😊

We have visited several times having stayed at the sister hotels so I can’t really say too much about the rooms however the hotel itself is in a very good location and the food was of a good standard. Guess it depends on how busy the hotel is as to your experience but judging by other hotels nearby Mango Bay represents very good value for the west coast.

Food selection very poor well presented but no taste. Very very limited selecting of fresh fruit and extremely small slices. Very noisy outside room with dogs crying everyday rooms not recovered in reasonable time or not done at all unless chased . Overall despite all this very nice location and overall the hotel is nice too

Great location, great staff, rooms comfortable but need updating. Standard rooms liable to excess noise over weekend evening's due to local bars.

Spoilt by Minimum starred rooms and a very load Karaoke bar til 4 or 5 every day. One of our friends complained and were moved, at a premium, to a much quieter room in a block of flats next door. Never again!

Stayed in December and booked again for this December. The hotel is in a great location at the heart of Holetown. We had one of the Ocean view room which is great place to wake up. It could do with some updating but it was clean, the staff were great and the beach area (best in the area) was clean. Great place can't wait for December now

  • 5/5 Ian R. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent hotel in a great location. We have got an ocean-view room (see photo) which is very quiet once the nightly entertainment finishes at 10:30. Entertainment, which is not normally something we look for, is very good. Sounds like some of the rooms at the front of the hotel may be noisy from the bars in the street up to the hotel. Food has been excellent so far, nice mix of buffet and a la carte lunches and dinners, and plenty of choice for breakfast. Some lovely staff. Beach is great and the hotel operates a strict "no reserving sun-beds" policy, which everyone ignores! Nice walks along the beaches on both directions. The free catamaran ride is well worth doing. All in all, we would come back here again.

Beach side Hotel - fantastic location. Our room was very basic and beware the rooms overlooking the road. The neighborhood is very noisy particularly at weekends. Food and drink inclusive and very good. Staff and service were outstanding.

Positives and negatives but overall disappointing. Negatives: - Sunday night (and heard weekend in general) we were in a back room with garden view, was like being in a nightclub till 2am with bars behind. - “free catamaran tour” on the website, doesn’t say this is only for Wednesday and Saturday (we stayed Sunday/Monday) - room wasn’t designed very well, doors didn’t shut really, shower flooded rest of bathroom - staff not overly responsive, hit and miss, some were good Positives: - good use of water sports included, water skiing etc - food was decent - nice pool and beach area Overall it’s a 3 star hotel rated as a 4 star, but when it was around £450-500 a night it should be a lot better

Beach: Great, one of the nicest if not the most on the West Coast. Staff: Amazing, spotless service, extraordinary people. Hotel: A bit outdated, in need of refurbishment but they do accommodate every single request you have, so they compensate! Food: very good and tasty food, however, limited choices and repeated often, not great!

We just came back and I wish people would say the truth about this hotel . I went after reading positive reviews but was very disappointed,. Not a lot of food choices, very small quantity of everything,. Breakfast always the same , lunch and supper you need to reserve and takes so long to get your food , there’s no pizza or pasta buffets.we went to eat out of the resort often. If you are Celiac you will eat the same fish and fries for lunch and supper all week . Very boring , no entertainment, no music, no dance , no games! After 4 days I wanted to go back home ! For the price $ is not worth it! Only beautiful thing there is the ocean ! I Won’t ever go back to Mango Bay .
