Had a fantastic time here today, it’s a great room. The puzzles and tasks are challenging and interesting and with some nudges in the right direction we were able to solve it! We have done a few escape rooms before and sometimes the tasks are samey and just involve keys and locks, this one has lots of variety and unique things to do. Doctor Norbert really makes the whole experience, he’s a fantastic host who is engaging and helpful when necessary, but doesn’t give too much away. Anyone who has the chance to visit should definitely do so, I’m already looking forward to booking the second room!

We had a fun hour trying to escape from the Bewilder Box at the Hobgoblin Pub hosted by the cheeky Dr Sanders and 'Dave'. We went as a family group with our two kids and one of our friends. It was great fun with loads of puzzles to make you think laterally - thank god for the kids and their problem solving abilities! Highly recommend for a fun few hours.

Went with my brother and his 12-year old daughter, and we all really enjoyed it. I've done a lot of escape rooms, and The Initiative is up there with the best of them. It is very well designed, both in terms of the aesthetics and theming, and in terms of the different puzzles and challenges that require a range of skills (lateral thinking, logic, observation, numerical, practical). It is also well structured so that you can see what your overall objectives are at each stage, but the structure allows you to discover how to achieve them in a fun and exploratory way. Plus, Doctor Pitt was a very good guide!

One of the best escape rooms I have ever done! Dr Boffin was a lot of fun and really brought the whole experience to life from the first moment to the last with his energy and humour. A fabulous mix of eccentricity and risqué banter. The tasks were creative and engaging for all our group ranging in ages from 12 to grandparents. They required plenty of collaboration and better listening skills then we demonstrated. An absolutely fantastic experience!!!

Great experience! This was a very fun escape room. The puzzles were challenging, engaging and fun but also required good teamwork. The escape room is also very immersive. Would recommend with at least 5-6 people (the maximum is 7). Doctor Pitt and D.A.V.E. are also the biggest legends I have ever met.

Really great evening at Bewilder Box @ The Brunswick. The rooms and tasks were well thought out and captivating. Our host, Dr James, was entertaining and made us feel welcome and comfortable for our first escape room. We are already planning doing the other game at The Hobgoblin.

Great fun for everyone. The set design was brilliant and the host superb… made for a really fun afternoon. Kids loved it (ages 12 and 9) and dog friendly too - would thoroughly recommend!

A fabulous experience. Doctor Joy was a brilliant host. The escape room was just brilliantly crafted and full of surprises all round. We were a group of 1 adult and 4 boys (aged 10-12) and they found the experience very engaging and accessible - puzzles for all age abilities. Highly recommended. We will be doing the other room for my other boys birthday!

A fun an engaging hour. Friendly staff. Good premise and introduction with clear and concise instructions. Fun space to work in with good set dressing and varied and interesting puzzles. The props were good to hold and handle and help was avalible when needed. Staff were clearly paying attention and were able to assist quickly and without need of explanation. Overall having been to a few escape rooms here and there this rates ad one of the best. Can recommend.

We visited Bewilder Box Escape Rooms as a birthday experience. We had a great time, Dr Archie Bald was a great host in the Judgement DAVE room, he made the experience fun from start to finish. The puzzles were challenging, which is what made it so much fun. This was our first escape room, but I have a feeling it won't be our last! Thanks for a great time.

Super fun time with our 13 & w/o year old! Would def recommend as a great way to spend quality time as a family. Kids were sceptical beforehand but got really into it! Dr Archie Bald was an excellent host/mad scientist and tailored our experience very skilfully so we could get the most out of it!

Visited 4 weeks ago, as part of a “surprise birthday celebration”, with my family. Really enjoyed it - it was my 60th, and the youngest of our party of seven was 21 - and everyone was engaged by the experience. Dr Olga was SUPERB - very funny, and really got us in the mood for what was about to happen. And she looked after us equally well through the whole experience; can’t thank her enough. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this escape room 👍

I can not describe how much fun this was. Dr joy was a blast. A brilliant host, helpful and attentive, the room itself was amazing. So much enjoyment. I would recommend this for literally anyone who is staying in or around Brighton. Do not miss out on the best fun you can have.

We completed both of the games here over the last couple of days and we’d highly recommend. We’ve done a LOT of escape rooms and can honestly say these were 2 of the best. The host was excellent and really believable character. We really enjoyed it. Thank you so much!

Absolutely fantastic experience! We did Judgement Day. This was our first escape room so we didn't really know what to expect, but it was so much fun and I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering. The story was funny and compelling and the puzzles were hard but not impossible -- very satisfying. We'll be coming back soon to try the other one!

We went for a work team outing and had a great time at Bewilder Box Escape Rooms. The puzzles were challenging and encouraged teamwork and the quality of the rooms, props and setup was really high. We were looked after by Doctor Joy who was excellent! She was quick witted, funny and informative topping off a great experience. We split the team in 2 and each did different rooms. Afterwards we all said we'd have to come back to do the other :)

Dr Olga gave us a fantastic introduction to the game and made us laugh. We enjoyed the design and looks of the rooms. The games were balanced to be suitably challenging with a welcome amount of help. I would definitely recommend this game and host.

Had an absolutely fantastic time playing Judgement Dave today and our host, Dr Banana, was amazing! We really can’t rave about them enough. It really set the tone for the game and got us really into the story. Thanks Dr Banana, you were fantastic 😀 the game itself also was wonderful. So many unique puzzles we have never seen anywhere else and really a fantastic ending. Would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely awesome time! This escape room was really nicely done. Dr Joy is a fantastic character and made the experience such good fun :-) The premise is brilliant, the challenges are well done, and it was all put together really well. I'd highly recommend this escape room challenge and would like to thank all those that made it happen.

Dr Olga was funny, enthusiastic and made the experience very exciting from the get go! The escape room has loads of great puzzles and activities in it. Definitely the best escape room I've ever done.

We were welcome with such a great enthusiasm and so much positivity. I’ve personally never had done an escape room before, so this was a first, and how it was a great experience! The puzzles itself were just hard enough to keep me interested yet not too hard to not finish the game. We managed to complete all puzzles and finish the escape room and we had a blast!

Did an escape room here and absolutely LOVED it! Had Dr. Tenderloin was a great character who helped us when we needed it (although it wasn’t a lot). The room and puzzles were very different to what I’ve seen before and had a great ending - will definitely be going back to do a different room! :D

We had a fabulous time today at Bewilder Box ‘Initiative’. This particular challenge was suitable for all the family so we were able to complete it with our three children age 7, 9 and 11. However, I think this would also make a brilliant night out with friends and is a great way to celebrate a special occasion, especially after a couple of drinks in the pub downstairs! Credit to to Professor Puzzlewood for a very theatrical intro, and with gratitude for Dave’s very well timed clues, we managed to solve the room in just under an hour. We felt super proud of ourselves. Thanks for a really lovely adventure.

Absolutely brilliant experience for the stag do on the 23rd September. We were running slightly late but they understood and let us enjoy the game. Our host was brilliant and made it an excellent experience. I can’t remember his name but he single handily made it so enjoyable. Well done mate appreciate it. Enjoy your pint 👍

I've done both the escape rooms and loved them! Had some fun and interactive hosts, most recently Dr. Joker for Judgement Dave. While unassuming in a pub, the rooms are well themed with different puzzles and surprises, no experience needed. If the rooms ever change, I will be back!

A successful conclusion to the DAVE escape room for our team of 4. An excellent set up. Great puzzles, amazing staging, brilliant hosting and, crucially, everything worked! Thank you Dr Joy for your enthusiastic hosting.

This escape room was so much fun, I highly recommend!!! We were introduced to Doctor Boffin who was so funny and really brought the game to life. The puzzles were the right level of challenging and the hilarious AI machine DAVE always new when to point us in the right direction (not that we needed it ;)) or stop us going down a rabbit hole. I was nervous about trying an escape room but it really was an amazing experience and the team behind this one have clearly put a lot of time and energy into making it so enjoyable!

Had the best time doing the Bewilder Box escape room at the Hobgoblin. Was great fun for the 6 of us, a good level of challenge and we really enjoyed the theme. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an escape room in Brighton, good value for money too. Special mention for Doctor Norbert who was our host. He made it so funny and entertaining and was all round great at getting us in the mood for some puzzling! Thank you!

Great escape room. The puzzles and tasks were fun and well thought out, challenging but not too difficult (if you pay attention, unlike us). Dr Norbert was the icing on the cake, being helpful where necessary and incredibly entertaining and engaging throughout. I won’t be back i Brighton for a while, but when I am we will definitely book the second room with Dr Norbert.

Really fun puzzles with plenty of variety and oodles of humour. Our host, Doctor Norbert, was great fun too. He really made us giggle and gave us very apt clues but only when they were really needed. All round a great experience.

Doctor Agatha was great! Stayed in character throughout and made the whole experience even more fun and exciting, her timely nudges and interventions meant we cracked the code! Great fun and would recommend to everyone. For the older escapee bring your specs it's dark and small writing!! ;)

Excellent escape room experience - only 2 rooms but with only 2 of us, it was a challenge. The whole experience was "made" by the host - Professor Norbert? (sorry if that's wrong, prof!). He was very funny, engaging and definitely upped the enjoyment level for us. We were also impressed with the fact that we were left to get on with it - so many escape rooms hosts are too keen to help out with the puzzle-solving and that can get annoying. Here we only got help if we asked for it - so much better! Well done Bewilder Box and we look forward to booking your other one!

What a fab way to spend some time having a drink and having fun completing an escape room challenge!! Doctor Norbert was fabulous and it wouldn’t be the same without his wit and banter, right from the moment he greets you in the bar’ Once in the room the banter doesn’t stop! DAVE The virtual assistant is hilarious when you are struggling on a clue and incredibly helpful! The room itself is great fun and challenging. I would recommend this experience in a heartbeat to anyone! So from one HR executive to another keep doing what you are doing DR Norbert 😊

Don't normally do reviews but had such a good time that this is the exception. The puzzles and challenges were just right for our group of 4 (2 early 20's and 2 oldies) and with a little pointing in the right direction managed to finish with minutes to spare! Dr Dawson was entertaining and a fantastic host. We all had a great time - apologies for taking so long to get round to the review!

Loved it! The puzzles were hard yet exciting! The whole experience from walking in the door to walking out was cool. Doctor Boffin had both me and my partner in tears of laughter 100% of the time and made the escape room 5 star! We will be returning!!

Our first Escape Room! We went with 5 children (8-12yrs). They all loved it. It was fun and really well hosted. We were well supported as beginners, with appropriate prompts but certainly not giving things away. Thank you.

Brilliant escape room. The set design is excellent the puzzles are unique and our host, Doctor Dawson, had charisma by the bucket. I've done about 30 escape rooms with the same group and we all agree this is definitely one of the best! We strongly recommend.

The experience was super fun and unique, Doctor Boffin was hilarious and engaging, and D.A.V.E. had the best remarks and one-liners that made me and my partner laugh along the game. Not one moment felt boring or too confusing (with 4 minutes to spare- phew!), it was such a different escape room experience than ones I've ever been before. Definitely worth the time and money!

First time for most of our family group in an escape room. We wanted to escape the weather and booked this in the morning as they thankfully had availability. Got to say it was a fantastic way to spend an hour or so. I was expecting a single room but there are multiple stages to the escape and I loved the move from room to room with a different environment each time. Really good fun and I was impressed with the design and atmosphere of the experience. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible especially with a little help from DAVE! Doctor Dawson was an awesome host from start to finish and we loved every minute.

Judgment D.A.V.E was incredible! So much thought has been put into the whole experience. The puzzles were awesome (slightly tricky sometimes!) within really cool looking rooms. Doctor Sanders was a fantastic host and really got into character! Would recommend to everyone to try this room 😊

AMAZING escape room!! Really enjoyed this one. Group of 5 of us - had different puzzles we could separate off and get through without all crowding around one thing at a time. Well thought out and interesting back-story. Fantastic dedication by the lead Doctor Dawson who deserves to get all the tequila shot pineapple chasers she desires! Highly recommend.

What a fabulous way to spend some time! Amazing escape room, with ingenious and fiendish puzzles, great props, and a clever theme running throw out. Marvellous entertainment with the Dr. and the charming Dave. Went with my 9 and 11 year old - plenty for them to get their teeth into and solving the room required contributions from all. Worth every penny, can’t wait to come back and play the other room…

I went with my girlfriend and although the escape room can accommodate larger parties, it was really fun doing it with just the two of us. The setup is rich in lots of little puzzles to solve, so it's literally non-stop problem-solving plus there's a bigger "philosophical" puzzle to solve which makes for great suspense and narrative. We were welcomed by Doctor Sanders who was a brilliant host, and also helped us when we needed it (shhh!). I'm glad to report that we managed to finish the whole thing on time and while having fun! Would highly recommend it.

Brilliant experience and one of the best escape rooms I've done. Great range of puzzles that were interesting, unique and challenging. No two puzzles were the same. The rooms were really well decorated and detailed. We did it as a team of 2 and managed to complete it with 1 minute to spare. Thank you to our game master Dr Agatha.

Wow… just wow!! This is hands down the BEST escape room I have ever done! The hosts (and a massive shout-out to Doctor Sue who was so amazing!!) the level of detail in each room full of intricately designed puzzles using different types of tech was outstanding!! Fully immersive and am incredible experience! If you’ve not done this escape room, DO IT!!
