I used to love this place! The food was always delicious, and the back garden area was a real hidden gem, especially in the spring when the gorgeous tree would blossom. I'm afraid to say that more recently I've had a few bad experiences. The food quality has been very poor, yet the prices increased. The staff, whilst friendly, have been slow and unsympathetic. As for the garden area, it has been filled with an eclectic collection of decorations, all fairly hideous and tacky. Perhaps this place is under new ownership, or the managers are attempting a new image? Either way, for me The Mouse has lost its charm.

Came here for Sunday lunch today. Really disappointed. Apparently new owners. That possibly explains why it was so bad. It’s fine if you’re not expecting quality food or service. The food was average. But the waitress was beyond rude. She even took the time to follow us out to continue her bad attitude, arms folded sulky face and smarmy comments. Would not recommend to anyone.

I expected much more than this. They were only offering a limited service likely due to the heat but this was not explained. The vintage cheddar cheese sandwich seem to just have shredded packet cheese in it. The salads were a joke, best part of £15 for what seemed to be half a bag of packet lettuce, a few slices of red onions, no tomatoes, no olives, hardly any feta, not what I would call a Greek salad! Maybe we caught them on a bad day but I am not going to be rushing back.

What a place, we stumbled upon this lovely little place whilst out with the kids. The garden is very beautiful and the kids loved running around while me and the other half enjoyed a really great fresh tasting lunch. The staff where very friendly and attentive. We will be visiting again highly recommended to anyone near by or visiting. Thanks

After attempting to get breakfast at The Claremont farm and finding it so popular we could not get in we diverted to The Mouse and were very glad we did. The cafe/ restaurant is set in intriguing and historical surroundings, has a fascinating interior and a wonderful atmosphere. The service was excellent. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient and the food was cooked to perfection. Although this had been a second choice it will be our first next time.

Completele waste of money! Tried to order a selection of cold meats etc but they did not have it available because they didn’t have any tomatoes or pies this was a weekend!! Ordered instead ham hock sandwich - the ham was sliced bought ham NOT home cooked or ham hock as described on the menu. The chips were freshly cooked but a small portion for £4.00. Appalling value for money - would defirintely not visit again.

absolutely beautiful décor, the back was my favourite. The whimsical fairy vibe was much enjoyed. I'd recommend it but would advise portions of the lunch menu can be on the smaller side. The salted caramel cheesecake is best split between two as is the mouse meringue. (but both good). the location around is beautiful. there is a disabled toilet and seating that's accessible. there are a few stairs to get to most seats. the woman's toilets are small and cramped but in good condition and the Alice in Wonderland theme made up for the size. would definitely go again but not my favourite place in the world. in three words: whimsical, enchanting, cosy

Fabulous food, I requested a particular dish not on the menu, and the chef made it beautifully. The only mistake made was a drink ordered as a dessert arrived with the meal. Unfortunately, it was not offered to be removed and a fresh one given at the appropriate time. The atmosphere and ambience were relaxed and friendly.

Amazing place! Love the decor and food. Really nice atmosphere definitely going to be one of my new favourite places. Photos are from the Chapel which I think they use when it's busy, but the actual main place is just as beautiful.

Ordered the beef brisket. Not like beef brisket at all- red in places and very chewy! Also arrived closer to cold than warm - not hot at all. The place looks nice and pleasant to sit in but food was very poor and service slow, not worth the price.

What a cute and quirky location! A perfect place for the 21st we were invited to. The food provided was excellent and the atmosphere in the conservatory where we held the party was great. It's in roughly an Alice in Wonderland theme which, makes it they little bit quirkie. Staff were friendly, but seemed inexperienced. Minor issues, (lack of gas to beers, men's toilets lacked anything to do your hands), went seemingly unfixed with no apologies for either problem and no rush to get them fixed ( No tissues were ever put into the toilets). Overall, I would recommend this place. The non-party areas seemed busy, but food looked nice and of good variety.

What a hidden gem! It looks absolutely fabulous inside, the food was very reasonably priced, staff lovely and the food was excellent! I rarely have a starter but was tempted by the onion petals, which were delicious, followed by a very tasty roast dinner with gorgous roast potatoes. I can't wait to return.

Would highly recommend The Mouse at Brimstage to hold an event. We hired conservatory and area of outside seating for a Birthday party. Food was delicious (just wish there was more of it!), staff were lovely, and the venue is so pretty that we have ended up with an abundance of beautiful photos to share and reshare for years to come to remind us of a great day.

We were gifted a voucher for Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches were freshly made. A good cake selection and the scones came ready warm. The only thing missing was a little garnish. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We six ladies had the pleasure of having lunch here and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a friendly relaxing atmosphere and the staff (especially Kieran and Amy) could not have been more attentive and helpful. The food was amazing and could not be faulted. We all enjoyed our time here save for the fact we could not eat out in the beautiful gardens. Perhaps next.

We had our wedding at the Mouse and couldn't recommend it enough. The staff (especially Amy) were all so great and went above and beyond to make sure our day was exactly how we wanted it. They kept in constant contact with us and didn't mind us popping in regularly to discuss the details. Our guests particularly loved the evening barbeque and the outdoor bar. The Mouse looked so stunning on the day and the food was excellent. Wish we could do it all over again ✨

Recently had my dad’s 80th birthday here. The team were great, helping to set the room up with us and fully attentive and friendly throughout the afternoon. The food was fantastic. I’d highly recommend The Mouse if you are considering a location for an event in the future.

We popped to The Mouse last Sunday and ordered from the set menu, prawn cocktail and a roast beef Sunday lunch which was delicious and well worth £19.95. Staff are really friendly too and it's a lovely setting. Our only criticism would be having to go to the food collection point for our meals. You expect your food to be brought to your table when you frequent an eaterie. Won't put us off visiting again though

Nice location and the decor makes it feel lovely and cosy, especially on a rainy day. Went on a Sunday and they were fully booked as well as hosting a christening which meant service was slow, seems they’d booked for more than they could handle. One of the waitresses didn’t have a clue, messed up our order twice and when reading back what we’d ordered managed to get items we’d not even mentioned. Food was poor with majority of items gone by lunch time. Don’t have most of your menu based on fish if you’re not going to have it. Wasn’t amazed by the food options nor the taste, wouldn’t go back in a hurry.

Lovely friendly staff who work really hard. The garden outside when it's sunny has a bar outside it really pretty the way it's done. Quite a large area to sit outside. Really nice food 😋

Lovely food. I had the fish finger sandwich and my friend had a panini and salad. Everything was perfectly prepared and presented. Service was very friendly and professional. A great place for breakfast or lunch.

Been going to the mouse for a long time, always have the steak pie or quiche. Unfortunately the past few meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) just haven’t been the same. I waited a while for my meal on my last visit and it was bland and thrown together. The staff are lovely and very polite so apologies for the negativity. The menu really needs a push and more variety, my friend had a sandwich to which she referred to ‘I could have made that myself’. Very disappointed as it’s usually consistent! Hopefully this feedback is useful.

I love this quirky eatery that looks like it is set in an old barn or farm building. The staff are friendly and attentive. I can highly reccomend the fish finger butty with lumberjack chips. The fish fingers are homemade and the batter is light. The bread was of a bloomer type and very fresh. On the bread is tartar sauce and mushy peas. To be honest I think there could be more mushy peas on the sandwich. The lumberjack chips where hot and flavoursome and a small salad with dressing was very pleasant. I would definitely visit again in the near future.

What can I say! I've lived on the Wirral all my life and never knew about this place. Its an absolute gem, great food, great service and the garden setting was absolutely divine. Had a sneak peek inside on the way out, looked great, really quirky and pretty. Cannot recommend this place too highly... one of the best breakfasts I've had, in certainly the most beautiful of surroundings, on a perfect summer's morning... ❤ The Mouse at Brimstage *****
