Been here twice now, parking can be tricky as the designated paid car park is quite small, you can park down the street on the road and walk up. Seating and leg rooms are a very tight and can be uncomfortable for a tall person. The two on-site bistros / bars are ok, nice scenery next to the water. Foods can be a bit of a wait if busy so give yourself a bit of time before the show start.

Lots of brilliant performances to be enjoyed here. The building itself is lovely, if somewhat confusing. Ticketing folk are very friendly and helpful. The toilets are functional and clean. The bars are nice with a bunch of good options for everyone. Access by bus or CityCat is easy and that way you can enjoy a good few wines while we're here, and you've gotta be happy with that.

A beautiful old building where plays and other types of performances are often hosted. It's location, right on the Brisbane River and next to the large, popular New Farm Park, is a good one as well. We have not eaten at the on-site restaurant, but it looks like a nice place to have a meal. The main thing we did not like on our recent visit (to see a children's performer/show) was that the stairwell we went up stunk like urine. This was about 3.30pm on a weekday. The Powerhouse car park is quite small and they introduced paid parking in mid-July 2021 which is kind of disappointing in one way, but understandable in another way. Fortunately, it's still pretty cheap for a city area and you can still park nearby at New Farm Park and walk over for free if so inclined. The only other downside is there was only one machine to pay for parking on the way out, so we were ready to hurry up and leave, only to discover we had to unexpectedly stand outside in the hot, humid summer heat in a queue for literally 20 minutes just to pay for our parking. If you are going to introduce paid parking, then PLEASE install more than one pay machine and/or allow people to pay via card at the exit. Other than that, a nice place. ** If you have found this review helpful, please press 'like' on the thumbs up icon below. Thank you and thank you for reading. I appreciate it. 😊 **

The Powerhouse is a great venue to enjoy show! I’ve been to a few comedy events recently and they always deliver! It’s a really cool building and great that it’s been made over into a great venue to support performing arts! The drinks line is always a bit long during events, so maybe need to rethink that a bit!

Had a great time here for the comedy festival. Parking was easy, staff were helpful. My only criticism is the line up to get a drink, it’s really off putting. Maybe additional pop up bars and some different food options would be great, but I really dig The venue ☺️

Awesome place. Looks very nice on the inside. Went for a kid's show. They have a pretty big parking although it's a bit of a hassle for Google to understand where to take you as maps got me in the middle of the park and suggested I should walk there. When you look for directions make sure it's not taking you to newfarm park. Maybe just put powerhouse park instead. Nice clean place, nice toilets and friendly staff. Has a nice overall vibe.

Great repurposed space. I'm a big fan of regeneration of spaces like these, and while I didn't see inside the theatres, I'm sure they would be great. Bar Alto was a great little bar/restaurant, good drink selection, attentive staff, and a good menu. The mussels were cooked brilliantly. And a nightcap on the deck overlooking the river made perfect sense.

Great venue for numerous events. Theatres were excellent for the Comedy Festival. Seating around stage complimented the artist (Becky Lucas - loved her show). Drinks from bar allowed in theatre and the bar itself was a nice place for a drink. Nice to have a reasonable carpark although with so many events there, might be an issue if you don’t leave much time till the performances begin.

Yet another great show, Paul McDermott Plus One. 1 hour in the theatre followed by 45 minutes in the forecourt under the setting sun. Fabulous! Fantastic venue for fantastic shows.

We attended the night feast on the Wednesday night. Great set up for food and attractions. We had dinner sat around on the plentiful tables and chairs and then took a stroll through the exhibits that were open in the museum. Kids had a great time, food was delicious. Dog friendly, plenty of toilets, and drinks and food everywhere. Kids loved the exhibits, especially the laser room.

Took 15 year old daughter to see Titanic The Movie the Play. Brilliant! We both had such a good laugh at the innovative script - so much fun. We see a lot of theatre and this is our favourite so far this year. Outdoor venue was well planned and really made you feel you were part of the show - especially with the sprinkle of rain as the ship went down!

I have had the pleasure of catching a number of shows here and I have always found them great value. The theatre is intimate and shows are always great. There's a bar and restaurant and usually some great artwork to look at while you wait. It's situated in New Farm Park, I usually park in the park at night, no cost which is great. Beautiful spot overlooking the river also.

Great space. Fantastic preserved elements of history preserved in this great space. Bar Alto and Mary Mays provide two eating/cafe venues. So accessible to New Farm Park, New Farm precinct, ( shops), and very accessible for car, bus, ferry.

Came for lunch today lovely space. Fans could have been on higher for better airflow as it was really hot. Food and drinks were delicious however really frustrating, we were swamped by flies. Moved table to get away from them but didn’t make a difference. Asked for assistance and they didn’t do anything I had to ask for one of the little fans they had on the bar for our table and this helped protect the food from the flies but they were still buzzing all over us and landing on us. They should really do something about the flies one staff member even said to me, “I know the flies, they’re so annoying”. A shame because if it wasn’t for that this would’ve been a five star review :(

Absolute garbage seating! I think we were at a Wil Anderson show, but I couldn't tell you since these seats can't see the stage. It's impossible to enjoy a comedy show when you are disappointed from the moment you sit down. What a wasted night. BTW, selling something and not delivering it is actually illegal. It's fraud. You need to scrap the entire upper level.

Been here for a few events and always enjoyed the experience. The main theatre is a lovely set up although the seating is a bit flimsy that moves a lot if the person next to you moves at all. Pre-event drinks and food are good and moderately priced. Event rooms upstairs are very spacious and the serving staff are all excellent/very friendly. I would host an event here as the facilities and food options are excellent.

Saw an excellent comedy show at the Powerhouse. Car park fills up quickly, need to factor in extra time to get a street park & walk to the venue. Recommend booking a table at the restaurant or eat prior to arriving, there are very limited seating & food options. Line for a drink prior to the show was incredibly long.

  • 5/5 Michael J. 1 year ago on Google
A great venue. Love how the raw old building has been re-purposed. It has a certain charm and character to give a stunning backdrop to any event being held here. We arrived early to grab a bite to eat, around at Mae's, before the show. We then enjoyed a drink and looked at the News/Photography Exhibit while waiting for the doors to Open. Tip: if you arrive after 5pm parking is a flat $9 rate. You can then pay before you go in to your show, and head straight to your car after without having to line up to pay at the machine at the end of the night.

Headed up to Brisbane to see Amos Gil at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Haven’t been to the venue in quite a few years so it was lovely to visit again. The venue itself is spectacular and there was also a photo journalist exhibition on at the time which was great to see. The show itself was incredible I had such a wonderful night. Parking was easy and there wasn’t too much wait time.

A most excellent riverside location, beautiful sea breezes that flow up the river. A most delightful restaurant with great food and beverages. Local, easy parking, access also from New Farm Park along riverside walkway. A great theater and art venue.

I was on a lay-over in my coach and took a walk along the river, and found this old gem. Wonderful old building cleverly converted into an up market restaurant with river views and panels depicting the history of the old powerhouse.

This is a lovely old Brisbane icon. We took children there on a Friday afternoon. It's enormous inside and a bit dark. Bar was medium-sized, clean, busy and looked over the river. Outdoor dining area was lovely, with a good view of the river and an array of gorgeous homes to envy! Staff for the event were very pleasant and professional. Parking was plentiful for the time of day. There is a gift shop, which was a bit pricey. Imo Would go there again.

I love this place. They have two restaurant bars on the waterfront side, several rooms for events/shows, sometimes they have art displays, and they have a free comedy night. It's in New Farm park so easy to get to by ferry or uber. Bus 196 and 199 stop close by also.

Brisbane power house is an old building. There are all red bricks. Solemn and majestic. The interior has been renovated into an entertainment hall and a bar. It borders the brisbane river. The scenery is beautiful.

Lovely place to walk around in the daytime or at night! Newfarm park and walkway along the water are great! Awesome kids playground just next door and a large enclosed play area for the dogs…

  • 3/5 Neo 1 year ago on Google
One of the landmarks of Brisbane city. An old building which used to be to the powerhouse? There is a car park beside the park so you wouldn't need to worry about the parking. There was an event when I went. It was the night market festival so I had the chance to visit the night market. Plenty of food and drink stalls. But the price and the portion... It is a bit expensive though. For the powerhouse, the third and the fourth floor is temporarily closed. So I don't have the chance to visit upstairs. There are some places to visit in the powerhouse though. The Brisbane River is just beside it. You can have some drinks and enjoy the view there. Overall it is okay. As there are better places to visit in Brisbane.

Awesome venue for performances. The staff are lovely, the surroundings beautiful and the building old/industrial style.

  • 5/5 Wilson L. 5 months ago on Google
It’s one of the best places for events like market, stand up comedy, shows, movies, art galeries etc. At the moment they’re running their event for night feast (4-29 Oct) which is sort of food market that sells a lot of high and restaurants in the style of market.. The entrance fee is free but the total food course on the $70 for whatever uploaded in the picture The duck gnocchi was bomb! 👍 The dumplings were authentic ! prawn and scallop combinations are so good👍 The baos were good and surprisingly the croquettes (vegetarian) one is so good! Worth it and would love to go back to see more events. It is probably gonna be better atmosphere at night for the market itself due to a lot of lights and the decorations around the venue!

My favourite live entertainment venue is Brisbane, have seen some great comedians and comedy festivals over the years - including the Brisbane and Melbourne Comedy Festivals, and people like Larry Dean. The venue is easy to get around, and has great accessibility for events inside and outside. Parking can sometimes be a bit of an issue, so recommend getting here a bit early if you can.

Place is dirty! Elbow grease costs zero....ceiling fans unclean, skirting grubby...air-conditioning vents unpolished just at a glance! Every customer interaction is conducted at the counter. You order, pay and pick up your food from the counter....5 staff on, place definitely not busy, NO LOVE PEOPLE! Sanitiser bottles and dirty rags hanging off the wait staff pockets doesnt look appealing.... I do understand budgets etc especially during COVID but surely now more than ever Excellent customer service doesnt cost you a whole lot more but is really really important. If your business don't care about your customers then why should your customers spend their dollars with you? It wasn't super unfriendly, but it certainly wasn't welcoming! Purely based on location, business should be booming but isn't. . I visited on 2 separate occasions and won't be back for a 3rd..
