Went expecting plain Mexican food but was delighted with some fantastic dishes and drinks. The jalapeno poppers were amazing, the seasoning and flavours really delicious. The guac was nice and the fajitas perfect as well. Got 4 different drinks and each one was really tasty. Looking forward to coming back :)

If you love mexican, you must must must visit Pepes. Everything about this place just exceeded my expectations. The staff were beyond helpful and friendly and the food came in a timely manner. The food was super delicious and their margs were next level 🍸Portion sizes were absolutely insane and our tummies were super grateful! OMG! How did I miss good Mexican in Brisbane. Hidden not so hidden gem! The food was so yummy! We tried vegetarian Quesadilla, combo dip and medium nachos and we couldn’t finish our food. The portions are so big. Frozen margs were a little too sugary (and they really shouldn’t be). So I felt that was a little bit of let down. But I’ll definitely be back for food and I’ll try house margs next time.

Nice cozy, Mexican style vibe. Lively and busy when we went but great service despite this and food arrived quickly. We ordered the burrito and the fajitas, plenty food, delicious and reasonably priced.

I have Latin roots and I have been to Mexico (with which I have had the opportunity to try authentic Mexican food) and here I have enjoyed good Mexican food and drinks. Nice decoration but the attitude of the waitress with tattoos on her right arm is not good.

Enjoyed everything about this Mexican restaurant. We went there not expecting much as I had visited a few years back for lunch & wasn't blown away. Don't know if they have new management, but things have certainly changed. My sizzling veggie fajitas came to the table smoking, on two large plates. Enough for two to share, but I was hungry!! It was delicious & the accompanying hot sauce was actually a killer one (loved it) Service was spot on & the sangria was great too. At last, a Mexican restaurant that delivers thankyou.

Pepe's is delicious!!! We went on a Friday for lunch and it was quite, which was nice because it's normally super busy for dinner. Chimichanga was incredible as was the passionfruit margarita! ❤️ Super quick with the food and the service was lovely. We will definitely be back.

I've never had a bad experience with Pepe's food. It's worth the money and they give you such generous portions as well! Delicious.

Tostada, nachos, and, i forgot the name though, something like burritos with shrimps were so delicious and even drinks such as Sangria and strawberry milkshake were great. I really enjoyed all the food but it feels a little lousy 'cause too many people are eating and drinking there.

The food is amazing. The prices are good. They make really good Sangria. The staff are friendly and helpful. It also allow you to split the bill which is so helpful and alot of places don't. They presented a bought birthday cake beautifully and didn't charge Cakish. These are all the things that make you want to go back again and again. Thoroughly recommended.

Good staff. However, the nature of the Mexican food is also spicy, there should be an option of choosing spice level (mild,medium or hot). Also the customers should have an option of choosing their table rather than allotting them one. Moreover, few tables in the end row are next to the wooden wall which has a bit of stinky smell from outside surrounding, those should also be taken into consideration. Drinks are awesome. Small corner for the Cocktail bar is the beauty of the business. Too expensive costed $90 for a dinner of 2. Can visit only on special occasions when you have enough money to spend. Not a place for regular visit unfortunately.

This place is amazing!! We went there for a date night and it was spectacular. Food and drinks were amazing, staff were super kind. Shout out to the bartender, they were super friendly and accommodating. Definitely found my new favourite restaurant.

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. For the entree I highly recommend the jalapeno poppers (so delicious I ordered two servings). Our group of 6 ordered the beef burrito, fajitas, chimichanga, nachos and tacos and everyone were satisfied. Their sangria is also better than other Mexican restaurant (tip: order the jug). They also have a delicious selection of desserts

The restaurant is cozy and has a great vibe. The food tastes great with good portion sizes. Tres Leches (dessert) and Indio (beer) are a must try. Quite busy during dinner service so definitely book ahead.

Quite possibly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, the value for money is amazing. Huge portions, reasonable prices, amazing flavour and the atmosphere is fantastic. Anyone going there should really try the Empanadas and the Enchiladas, they're probably the best I've ever eaten and I have eaten a lot of Mexican food in my life. NONE of it holds a candle to this place.

The absolute best Mexican in Brisbane! Never had a bad meal at Pepe's. Huge portion sizes at a decent price. Beautifully crafted food with fresh ingredients. Not to mention the amazing margaritas! We come here as often as possible. Make sure to book in advance, they're usually fully booked.

We had a wonderful night. Service great and food excellent. I'm vegan, and they had wonderful yummy options. Priced really well and affordable. The House Margarita was delish and came in a HUGE cocktail glass. Nothing worse paying for a cocktail and only getting a small one! The food serving size is generous. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend. Thank you to the chef and staff.

Through the red door there is a very chill atmosphere where staff are welcoming and the food is DELICIOUS! There is parking around the back of the restaurant. The area was clean and there are toilets. If you are wanting to sit in the outside area in winter, be sure to dress warmly!

I don’t know why this place is overrated but the fact is only on reviews I guess, we went for dinner couple of days ago and I asked for table inside but we were allocated table right to the door saying they were fully booked and no other table available as we were walked-in but next min other walked in customer were allocated inside as they got no bookings too, I don’t know why we got told they got no table inside. I’m sorry to write it down but I can’t stop for the food we ordered, chicken burrito was sloppy, mushy with no taste and bland flavour, chicken empanadas it was fried till black and pour over some tasteless sauce on top of it and got no taste as well so I decided to ask slice of chilli but the gave us plate full of chilli like an entree servings who gonna eat those all chillies seriously??? Highly not recommend this place

Food and drinks were amazing. Nachos were delicious, great that you had options for the sizes and plenty of options on the menu. Good atmosphere with comfortable seating. Service was mostly good but attended didn't listen so we found ourselves having to reapeat what we'd said. Can't wait to go back.

Brilliant service. We arrive 30 minutes early to our reservation and they still treated us with amazing service despite being extremely busy and no room for us to come in early! Sat us at the bar while we waited for our table, and made sure we felt comfortable before we made it to our table. Great cocktails and food, can’t believe I waited so long to come here.

Overall the food taste pretty good and for first timer it was a great Mexican food. The sizzling beef I think it was the highlight of the mains and coming next Easter tacos it feels like the loaded fries but mainly the toppings are very generous Chimichanga was quite good and interesting concept (the one on yellow plate) it’s a yum ! Lastly dessert was quite okay given the churros Oreo and nachos with ice cream are using cream and chocolate sauce They got in house margharita which was quite good! $25 pp - sharing 7-8 ppl

What a delicious experience. My second time here (first was 8 years ago) and I just realised hood is this place. Simply delicious. Big enough and amazing desserts 🍮 my score for this places is 12/10 🤭 muy rico.

Was really disappointed with the food. Ordered the chilli cheese fries, the chips were stale and the chilli had no flavour and the entire meal was lukewarm. After that I ordered the burrito it was bland and again had hardly any taste to it. I was really excited about going here and unfortunately it was below average. My partner didn’t even eat his meal and he eats anything.

Somewhat bland food, and a rather steep surcharge for sour cream of all things. On the plus side, nice atmosphere and a good selection of drinks including Mexican beers.

The guac was well seasoned and very creamy but wish they had house made chips instead of generic bought ones. You could tell the sizzling fajitas are a house favourite as I saw so many going past us throughout the night. We opted for the beef which came out sizzling alongside all the ingredients to make your own tacos. Meat was tender and there was a good amount of flavour and ingredients to make 4 loaded tacos. I thought the value for money was very good and we left full and happy. They also have a great looking dessert menu if you are looking to finish on something sweet. Delicious and fresh Mexican food and absolutely lovely staff. Speedy service. Our booking was for 7pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty busy. I'd recommend booking.

The atmosphere and decor is amazing but the food wasn't great. Mushy with no seasoning and burrito was toasted until it was as hard as a rock. The apple salad is a strange combination the just doesn't sit right and was extremely sour. There was no vegan cheese or avocado for the vegan burrito which just left it to be rice and beans. No compensation in cost despite baring similar prices to the meat dishes. Partner said his meat was extremely dry and under seasoned. His meal was more expensive and it had two tortillas, pulled pork and apple salad. No rice or guacamole or sour cream. Overall felt really lacking which was disappointing due to the general atmosphere there.

I’m a regular customer at Pepe’s because the food is reliably good. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside is a quaint and authentic restaurant whipping up Mexican favourites. I have tried a lot of the menu but my topic picks are; elote to start (Mexican street corn) then either the Chimichanga or Cochinita. If you are looking for something to share then you can’t go past the Sizzling Fajitas or the Beef Nachos (add guac + sour cream). Feeling adventurous? Try the crickets if they’re still on the menu when you go.

First time giving Pepe's Newmarket a go. Was pretty happy with the overall experience. Looks like they have converted on old house into a restaurant. It gives the place a more relaxed atmosphere. I ordered a beef taco and Cochinita Pibil. Overall I was pretty happy with the meals, was better than expected actually. My only previous experience at a Mexican restaurant was Montezuma's, which was pretty average to put it nicely. Some might be dissatisfied with the prices at Pepe's but it seems to be in line with what you pay at a sit down restaurant these days. Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

Extremely expensive and not good quality 1 sub standard entre,2 main meals 2 drinks $95. Will never go back!!!

This is a clear 5 star venue, been around for ages and always delivers consistency. Sure the meats are a little average, and the vego dishes all have mushroom for some reason, but thats Pepe's secret recipe and thats how it should be. Never change. Even the iceberg lettuce with no seasoning is perfect. Awesome hot sauce that burns you twice, great selection of dine in beverages that are authentic and set the mood. To top it all off, no one does delivery as good as Pepe's, always arrives looking good and tasting just like in store. Si no es pepe, entonces te has ido al lugar equivocado!

We had a small staff XMas party and the venue and food was wonderful. Large servings of really flavoursome food meant we had to pack a to-go containers which staff were happy to provide. A great little gem hidden in Newmarket.

I ordered fish tacos and everything was pretty nice except the fish itself was over done and fried to a dark brown. The rest of the table said their food was between alright and good. Also the table was really sticky and plates and drink glasses would get stuck to it. Our elbows and forearms were smeared with this gunk by the end of the meal. Normally this doesn't bother me, but it noteworthy from our experience.

Absolutely awesome! We had the seafood burrito & 2 margaritas - the blackberry & blueberry, and the raspberry & lime. Both were lovely but the raspberry & lime was the winner for me. The burrito was delicious, huge serve, the prawns & scallops were cooked beautifully & the garlic cream sauce was delicious! Highly recommend for those who love Mexican food.

Love love the food here!! Service isnt always the best. When i first walked in, i had multiple of the female servers look at me and then turn their heads back to continue what they were doing without even acknowledging me, but the food is too good!

Food has always been good, made with fresh quality ingredients. Service is good, however you do feel the pressure to move on fairly quickly. Parking options are very limited - it can be almost impossible to park at peak times. The chairs are some of the most uncomfortable chairs I’ve ever sat on due to the really short base on the chair. Perhaps this is part of the strategy for turning patrons over quickly.

We went here after serving the good ratings, knowing it's all but impossible to get good Mexican food anywhere in Queensland. It's a homely place, a bit ramshackle, but it suits perfectly. We had margaritas to start, followed by street corn, a seafood burrito and a cochinita pibil. The street corn was very good, and the cochinita was excellent. The seafood in the burrito was perfectly cooked and flavoursome, but the tortilla itself felt a bit thick, a bit heavy. Maybe it's because I prefer a lighter tortilla. Jose the head waiter was a lovely guy and very helpful. As a bonus Pepe's has a reasonable sized Mexican grocery stash. Very helpful. They occasionally have traditional mole as well - they make it themselves. Will definitely be back for that. A good experience.

I am a Mexican connoisseur and my first visit to Pepe's this week was very enjoyable. Food was tasty and of a different variety than I was used to.

The atmosphere of this place is really relaxed and humbling. I had a chicken enchilada with rice which was amazing, guacamole was average lacking flavour I expected more of a lime and pistachio flavour but was mainly just avocado but was entertaining watching it being prepared at the table. Unfortunately my partner ordered a meal and it seemed that they had forgotten to actually make it I had finished my meal before his came out we had to ask where it was they had no idea what he even ordered the staff were really nice but when we placed our order the girl who was really friendly didn't write anything down and just took it from memory which obviously didn't work out when she had forgot what he had ordered. When we finally received his meal, he was really underwhelmed as he paid $30 for a small bowl of pulled pork and two mini tortillas. After all the hype we had heard about this little restaurant it was an average experience all round unfortunately we won't be back.

Beware: the servings for all dishes we ordered are more than generous; they are absolutely enormous. No lack of flavour due to size. I "nearly" finished my bowl of chilli con carne with rice. I would have given 5* but we live in Brisbane where summer gets hot & sticky -- massive wall mounted fans are really enough. It may be more "authentic" without a little aircon but not as comfortable. It does help the drinks ordering though..... 😉
