‘Small plates’ and ‘sharing plates’ — uh oh. Menu looks promising enough, despite not much to choose from, and every dish upwards of £6/7 mark. Although everything was well presented the portions were more like rations. One dish consisted of a single, small roasted parsnip, cut in half. Shortly afterwards a half a leek arrived, drizzled with something sad and unmemorable. 5 little prawn crackers in a bowl with a teaspoon of celeriac at the bottom. Is this a random stab at haute cuisine? Or a cheerless and cynical imitation of tapas? It certainly wasn’t dinner.

Been wanting to go here for such a long time as the sound of their short rib Sunday roast dinner sounded amazing... But ended up so disappointed! Instead of a soft, tender beef short rib, I was served a tough beef brisket, and was only told it was brisket when I had asked as I had a feeling it wasn't but was a bit too shy to ask. I felt ripped off, especially when it was £18.50. The variety of veg was great, and the cauliflower cheese was pretty good, but the potatoes were a bit sad and ended up leaving them when I usually find them the best bit of a roast. The service was quite good though as they rectified an issue with curdled coffee straight away (although we didn't get asked about our meals until the end), but overall the food and drinks aren't worth the hype. The live entertainment is great though, and I've enjoyed life drawing here too so it's still worth visiting Cloak and Dagger for that at least.

I am surprised of the "excellent" reviews. Our experience was terrible. The Sunday beef roast dry. The gravy was water and made clearly with a stock. The Pudding was cold and just take out from the fridge. The vegetables salty. Disgusting. We had 25% pathetic off from the bill. I would suggest the cookers not to be outside and smoking certainly not a very welcoming. I wish I could add pictures for the horrible lunch - I did on Tripadvisor ---- In reply of the message below since we received the Sunday Roast it was clear that the Pudding was cold and we mentioned to the Team (actually the person who served us was the General Manager!). We have been waiting for some replacement but when we finished eating the food it was not arrived yet. I appreciate the tough situation post Pademia but the it is out of discussion that the roast beef was was dry, tough and cooked very badly. We were offered a 25% which is the staff discount. Finally we didn't get it was an "experiment" rather we understood it was the first Sunday roast after summer. Despite all, we were very disappointed for the quality of the food in general and despite we understand the situation, I trust that if I go in a restaurant the food must be good. I am very disappointed not to see the profile on Facebook - I have been blocked after posting the bad quality of the roast on your page and this is very unprofessional. Finally, the reason of a feedback when is negative is not to destroy your reputation rather give you an opportunity to improve. We have this opportunity as customer and we are pride we can use it.

Love this restaurant - third trip and third completely different menu. Staff are friendly, relaxed and professional and food is amazing. A relaxed atmosphere while still feeling like a treat. Very reasonable prices. I will be back!

I never leave reviews but have to speak up about my experience of last night, first up big up crackstreet boys and the dj playing the naughties club bangers, absolutely smashed it last night! Great venue, lovely front of house, beers decent prices! So why only 4 stars? I’ll tell you.. the absolute bewilderment that you are charging £3 for a pint of fizzy water and a splash of lime, I get cost of living crisis and all that but you just can’t be charging that! My mates were all a bit steaming last night so I thought I’d be nice and get a round of lime and sodas, before the lovely bar person served them I made sure that it was from a tap and not from a bottle because I’ve been stung by this before but I don’t mind paying £3 for some fever tree, but from the tap that’s taking the Michael! I did complain but my beef if not with front of house they do not set the prices (although I would have just given two on the house if I was working) so I paid for the drinks to free up the bar! I lost my favourite jacket last night, wear it almost daily but that annoyance has been masked by the fact I spent £9 on 3 lime and sodas, not even that limy… Great venue and would defo come back but I’m bringing my own lime and soda next time!

Great, unique venue with a lively yet cosy atmosphere and one of the best places in Bristol to have a drink and see talented, interesting musicians perform. Staff also very friendly and welcoming.

(Specifically Music nights) Played an open mic here twice. Lovely place with a nice supportive atmosphere. One of the best I’ve been to in Bristol. Really hope it stays! Good vibes and the interior of the venue is really cool, friendly staff as well. :)

We popped in for a drink at about 6 in the evening, and were asked to go downstairs as upstairs was for eating, which was fine. Waited ages, bought a pint in a plastic cup but there was nowhere to sit downstairs and they were setting up for an event. We asked to sit upstairs as the restaurant was largely empty, and we said we'd move if it filled up. They said no, and said we could either stand downstairs or sit outside (it was freezing). We sat outside next to the road, drinking a £6 pint in a plastic cup getting cold. Will not be going back, terrible customer service.

We had a birthday meal and party in the downstairs room last night. The food was lovely and the team were so helpful both prior to the event and during. Nothing was too much bother and they accommodated our special requests fully. We had a great time!

Amazing Last Minute Lunch! This is a restaurant that cares about its food and service. Fun, personal, cool, calm and efficient service. The food is out of this world. A must try if in Bristol. Cocktails are great and curated by a mixologist talent. I left with a warm glow. Highly recommended. Thank you for a great lunch Team C&D

Disappointing. The menu changed shortly before our reservation and the cheffy food we were after wasn’t available. However, we decided to still go to experience the epic cocktail menu advertised online only to arrive and find out that wasn’t available either. We ordered the few options available and, albeit nice, it took an age to arrive and we were the only people there. Overall, I’d like to support a community project but poor website maintenance, incorrect menus and super slow service let it down. Two stars because the drinks were ok when they arrived.

Lovely establishment, with incredible dishes made with such attention to detail. Full of color and flavor clock & dagger is a must for a delightful palette experience, great place to enjoy some cocktails or try some delicious extravagant food.

Weird and wacky restaurant with a decidedly oddball menu. We enjoyed some things, others less so. Decent IPA and cocktails. Staff very friendly and helpful

We went for a wedding anniversary there. It was our first time going to the venue. The place has some great decor and wouldn't be out of place in Portland, Oregon. We had some excellent cocktails and ordered a few sharing plates off of the menu. All the food was really good, a very interesting and unique menu. We loved it. The service was great too. We were then asked if we wanted to go downstairs and watch the live acoustic gig going on, which we did. It was really fun and a great venue for small intimate gigs. We'll definitely be going back.

Lovely place, with very nice and friendly staff. Food was presented very nice, and starters were amazing, although I have to say that both, me and my friend didn’t enjoy the main veggie burger and desserts 🤷‍♀️ as much as we hoped.

TAKE IT TO THE BRIDGE.... My wife and I had a gorgeous meal at the latter point of service for their Sunday roast SPECTACULAR.We had a wee bit of a wait but that was communicated very well by the staff . I understand now why parties stayed on.... The Food! Amazing... Just go...honestly Just do it! Awesomeness in every sense and the host/Chef on the day was a fine fellow, chatty, knowledgeable and I imagine hungry by the time we left. I would of liked to kept this a local secret, but they're all just so lovely. YOU KNOW IT..
