There is a bad smell at the hotel like it's a sewerage kind of smell from the reception area. The receptionists are not friendly, hardly greet back but the security, cleaners, kitchen staff, waiters and maintenance staff are very welcoming and friendly. The conference room was always clean and made sure water is available. The food on Wednesday was off, which made me sick the whole day(runny stomach and vomiting) enjoyed their breakfast. The parking lot is just too small for vehicles, I drive a big car, so I had to be careful of not damaging my car. Overall I just enjoyed my time there withe people I was with and we created great memories

The place is amazing, great customer service experience for the entire week. The food is also amazing. Thanks for the hospitality ❤

The indoor, undercover parking is ridiculously small. It only allows for a single car to enter/exit at any given time. Larger cars have great difficulty negotiating the corners. One entry / exit point, creating chaos when busy. I shudder to imagine what would unfold should there be a M/V entering, whilst another is exiting.

Had the nicely plated 🍽 platter and great flavored 😋, great service! Great ambiance. Thabo was a delight to serve us. Professional and very friendly 👌 💛! Will definitely be coming back for more...

Just ordered a chicken burger from your restuarant and it's the worst burger I've ever eaten. The roll (bread) was extremely stale, the chicken was hard and to top it I had to wait over an hour for my order. The whole process was ridiculous and appalling. There were only 2 people ordering when I arrived, so how can a place which is not packed delay in their service delivery for 2 people? The night/evening staff can do better. Do better guys, please!

Cosy yet spacious rooms and it is very clean however I was surprised to learn that there's a TV but no Netflix or even DSTV. Other than that I recommend the place

Had gone there for a meeting. So did not access the rooms, just the board room. Which was fine.

I only visited for the day attending the workshop. Everyone is friedly from the gate entrace,reception, and general workers, and they made you feel home. Beaitiful designs and what made my day was the live music...beautiful I just wished I wasn't on a work visit me and my Gals could have jived our muscles out...

Really has a nice restaurant. Food is honestly AMAZING. My rating is simply based on my experience at the restaurant

I had left my shoes when I checked out as I was in a rush for work. When I got home and unpacked, I realised I have left my shoes back at the hotel (as that was the last place I work them). NO ONE has happened to see my shoes, including the “house keeper” and “house keeper manager” - To think we trust that out items will be found and returned to us, only for things to disappear in thin air. I’ve called numerous times and no one is getting back to me! I don’t EVER recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Highly disappointed!

What I enjoyed about my stay there is once you check in there usually isn't any reason to go out again, they've got a restaurant downstairs, a club at the top plus a beautiful set up on top of the roof so... Plus it was quite affordable as well

I can’t speak to the hotel experience but I’m local whose been to the restaurant a couple of times since the decor revamp. The service is consistently horrendous and the staff is sulky and treats you like they’re doing you a favour…today, on the 4th of June 2022, we were greeted with the smell of raw sewage as we walked in. Avoid this place at all costs.

Spent last Saturday evening watching the UEFA Champions League final at Elevate Rooftop Bar & Premium Lounge. Located on the the 16th Floor of the The Reef Hotel. Lovely views over Johannesburg. Welcoming bar tend er and DJ. Had a really good evening in down town Joburg.

Concerned Will I be allowed to check in if I have lost my original ID, but I have copies of my identification document? I was making copies and I might have lost my ID card at the Internet Cafe, and I am on the bus right now to Johannesburg. ☹️

We had a wonderful stay at the Reef hotel, the staff are super friendly, they pay attention to detail, and took great care of us. The roof top bar is quite fun and great atmosphere. The parking is VERY tight, but manageable. Only thing is the elevators are quite scary, but we were told they are being sorted out.

It was overall a great stay at the Reef hotel. I was only here from 11am saterday, until 7am sunday, so 1 night. -They partner with a company for airport shuttles. It was (950 Rand) for round trip airport transfer. Check in was easy, but i was early at 11am, so paid 350 Rand for early check in. Noticed lots of workers like to dance, a guy from restaurant, and lady from door desk both dancing to themselves, happy. -Room was good, big, good views. Fridge, and many outlets to charge things. I did accidentally test their outlet safety system and got a shock when plugging in my adaptor to outlet, but it was my own fault, and all outlets were out. One call to reception and they sent the mechanic up to look, and switched it back on. TV works with 1 English channel i could find. Big bath tub and shower. Safe in the room, big closet and drawers, and 2 desks. -The hotel takes up one whole block, and has a restaurant below (i never went there), and a bar on the roof (i went to the entrance of it, but was underdressed so didnt enter (they have a sign saying dress code), no one was at the entrance though. there is 4 elevators, but at least 1 was not working. 2 staircases, one in building by elevators, and one on the side of the building away from elevators. Nice views from side stairs. -Location is great, 20 min drive from/to airport if not rush hour. 2 blocks from ghandi square, with lots of food options. It was a good location for pickup for my soweto tour, i was last picked up and first dropped off. I was out at night and it felt safe for me. beer/weed store next door negatives: -The shower mat/wooden floor thing blocked the drain while i was in there, i guess the way i was standing? i couldnt see the drain, but i could see the shower filling up with water like a bath tub, then shifted the mat and it started draining. -no airport shuttle for free.

Where do I start. The front desk clerk was awesome and so professional. She was the most amazing person I have met in a long time. I truly feel safe and secure here. The service is without parallel. I called they came. Everything is as expected and even exceeded my expectations for the wifi, loadsheeding and air-conditioner unit. I would truly recommend this place for a stay while in Johannesburg.

Went to Reef Hotel for drinks and some grab, even one was wonderful and friendly. Service provided was excellent , at the bar met this great server Thabo who gave as an excellent service all around.

Service can be improved, but otherwise a nice place in the heart of JHB.

Great hotel in Central joburg, impeccable service, no complains.

Received such terrible service. We arrived for check-in at 14:00 and we were told they were still cleaning our room. They made us wait at reception for an entire 30min! Once we eventually got to the room, the bin was not cleaned out and still had rubbish from the previous occupants of the room. The duvets were not of good quality, the inner couldn't stay in place. Then in the morning when we went to have breakfast we got the shock of our lives. They told us, breakfast was booked for one person. The lady at reception assumed only one person was checking in without asking and I was there as well. The breakfast is not worth the price. The reef hotel stays disappointing hey!

The service was good and the room was good apart from random drunk people getting into wrong rooms by mistake keep you door locked when you are at the hotel. my experience was good.

Lovely place if your keen on a up hill battle, elevators were in use. It didn't bother me would stay with the misses somewhere else next time around.

A decently located Hotel in the "Issue driven" Joburg Cbd with nice size warm and cozy rooms, pleasant enough service and reasonable facilities. Though the night time and music 🎶 venue Elevate has excellent views of the city and the surrounding area and is a to Top notch venue and Escape is a colourful and recommended Eatery. Definitely one of the top choices if you are staying in the city. Needs some refreshing, but it ticks the boxes nonetheless

Reef Hotel ......it's a chilled and the vibe there is good especially surrounded areas peace of mind , no noise , traffic or unnecessary crazi things . Need me time , peaceful time go to the Reef Hotel

The Reef Hotel offers affordable stays in a reasonably safe area. The food was decent and the cocktails were well priced. The rooftop bar is a cool addition but not really a place for a quiet cocktail watching the sunset - more like a club. The staff were friendly although housekeeping had somehow run out of towels and our room wasn't ready when we checked in four hours after they said we could. The room itself was spacious and clean but there was always a faint smell of sewage outside our rooms. To no fault of the hotel, our floor had a bunch of noisy neighbours and the walls are thin. You have been warned... The buffet breakfast was a great addition and well worth the extra bit you paid for it.

They will never give you a change for the purchases you make. I lost monies. I even called the number and I was directed to speak to a manager. Instead of getting my monies from manager, he told me that people have been losing money as of it is the right thing. Worst experience ever. If you value your monies, don't bother going there. When buying, you might need your change back and nobody will assist you. You will lose money. Don't bother. I lost monies as well. Nobody got back to me.

Clean neat. Decent sized rooms. Friendly staff. Centre of town is not great but hotel feels. Super safe

4 star its a no.the pictures u see on their website must have been taken a few years back. Staff very friendly and welcoming.our room was beautiful and very clean.food 10/10.there is a smell when coming out of the elevator.not thrilled for paying parking. Towels not soft in need of fabric softener. The hotel as a whole need some tlc.the furniture in the rooftop lounge is old.
