I had a wonderful time here! I came by right when it was opening (6pm on Saturday), and I met the owner outside. He was super nice and really fun to chat with. He is also a great chess player! He played a few games with me before the bar started filling up with customers. Lots of great wine options and some good beer as well. The bar is full of friendly chess players. I played games with people I met at the bar. The vibe is really cool (chess books, wine bottles, mood lighting, and great music). If I ever go back to Stockholm, I will definitely make sure to stop by here again. Nota bene: It's a little hard to find. There are no signs out front. But if you walk down that alley (Biblioteksgatan), it's right there on the corner. You have to go inside and then down the stairs. Then you'll see the sign for Svarta Hästen Schackbar (with a knight on the door).

Very kind host, worth a visit is you like chess (and wine😁). From the outside not easy to find so ask on the open door left of it.

Visited for the first time as a shy single girl. Ironically, it was empty and I was pleasantly joined by Kalle who was working. The second time was on site with company and it was livelier. Just as nice the second time too! The staff has knowledge of wines and chess. It looks fancy but the atmosphere is just right. Good music!

Incredibly cozy little critter. Good wines were served and the chess board was large with proper pieces. Minus that the music was so loud that it was difficult to hear each other. Note that it is probably wise to book a table before you arrive. Will definitely come back.

Love this place. Its a little bit hidden, cozy and tasteful. The wines are well curated. The somelier is passionate about the idea of this chess bar :) If you know someone who can show you how to play, learn it in that bar, it‘s really fun!
