Food was excellent, great portions and lovely service from Kat! Thanks so much will definitely be back again soon.

I went here years ago and it seemed tired. After moving closeby in 2021 we decided to try it again and happily on all 3 occasions we have visited the food and the service has been excellent.

Decent food. Particularly the chicken. Reasonably priced. Staff and service were good. I feel the conservatory section lacks the character the rest if the pub has and surprised there is no where you can bring dogs inside which limits my visits.

Celebrated my Mums birthday here. Delicious food, couldn’t fault it, service was attentive and friendly. Great find this place and we will certainly recommend and return. Pie of the day is a must have!! As is the crumble and chocolate melt. We also love the fact this pub does not allow dogs.

On getting to pub we were early, I thought the man was a bit rude but my husband didn’t. He said, ‘your table not ready and we ain’t got nowhere in the bar for you too’ but then walked to the bar area and showed us to a table straight away, very wired. Then we stood at bar to get a drink, the bar person didn’t say anything to us but carried on with what they were doing for a good few minutes, even though she walked past us twice! She was very nice when she did serve us!! When we got to our table, we had great service, meal was nice. Drinks arrived when ordered. But on one occasion I ordered a drink with a shot of elderflower but wasn’t brought this, on asking the waitress she they had ran out but when she brought drinks over she never told me this. Then charged full price for the drink with missing item. Good and bad service throughout our visit. It was my birthday meal out with my husband. I’m not sure we will go here again for a while but it depends as hopefully may learn from review.

Popped in for a late lunch and was really impressed with the service and food. Only one member of staff working the bar ,taking food orders and bringing food out! Wished we got her name as she really deserved a mention!

Great meals for my wife and I, my primary age sons had a great time on the playground. Good friendly service, though they were busy for a Thursday and it took a little while it wasn't excessive. 3 adult meals, 1 kids meal and soft drinks all round came to about £60.

We dine at The Hopwood quite often and we have never had a bad meal, the food is excellent and the portions are generous. There is also an extensive choice of food on the menu, we are always spoiled for choice. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and it’s comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.The tables are well spaced which is good due to the pandemic. Our only slight criticism is the steep steps to enter the restaurant from the car park but there is an entrance on the other side of the building without steps.

Service was very attentive, nothing too much trouble. Food arrived promptly and was well presented and hot. Loved the Fish & Chips, batter was so light and crispy. Hot melt in the middle choc pudding and Icecream was a decent size pudding and tasted lovely. Well done to all the staff. Would recommend a visit

I came on a Sunday evening with family. The food was good and the guy behind the bar had a mixed grill made for me even though it wasn't on the evening menu. ( very nice of him ) everyones food was made and tasted lovely.

Nice location for us, food and service was lovely. Always best to book. Cocktails not too bad.

Went to The Hopwood tonight for first time. Not disappointed. Friendly , helpful staff. Nice atmosphere. Clearly popular. Nice selection of food and drink. Ham Hock very good, but go with a good appetite (see pic. )

The Hopwood is my favourite place to eat. Never had a bad meal and the standard is top draw. They are always polite and attentive. The standard of the food is the same every time you go in. I would recommend The Hopwood to everyone.

Food, atmosphere, value for money and service were incredibly good. We were made to feel very welcome and, though a large group, our individual needs were met with geniality.

Sunday lunch to celebrate three family birthdays. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, although my pork was slightly chewy, hence the 4 stars for food. Children's menu had good portions. Excellent service, attentive staff but not too attentive. Play area adequate and we wandered down to the canal.

Out on Canal boat for the day and moored up at Hopwood house for a meal. Had couple of pints of the Orchard Thieves cider which was nice and refershing and not too fizzy or dry. Had a table for 10 for afternoon lunch. All of the staff were engaging, arlttentive, polite and helpful. I went for the Honey glazed Ham hock with a mustard sauce and some mixed veg. It was fantastic, cooked beautifully, falling away from the bone to the touch, needless to say I cleard my plate. Other dishes ordered were Chicken and Bacon Salad, the Vegan Curry, Flat bread kebab, Hunters Chicken and the Sausage and Mash. Decently sized portions and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them all.

Great service. Great food. I had also had an evening meal two days before with you. The difference was that on the second visit: My guest and myself ordered an Archers and lemonade. Glasses far to chunky and heavy. My guest is 87. She found it hard to lift the glass. A more delicate glass please. We both ordered chocolate brownies with chocolate blood orange ice cream. This time the strawberries were missing and the raspberries were mushy. On both occasions the staff were great. Meals were great and we will be coming back.

Better than expected. Came early evening, quiet, but hot busy later. Food decent enough. Plus, staff agreed to move us to a nice bright table by the window rather than have us in a dark corner.

The staff were really lovely and helpful, we all had the 3 course meal menu set at £17 which I thought was fantastic value and the food was great. I love the pubs atmosphere and the beer garden is fantastic in the summer and for the children as they have a play area too. Highly recommend the hopwood pub 😊

Service was very poor until the meals arrived. Waited 5 to 10 minutes to be taken to our prebooked table. Waited a further 40 minutes before any drinks were served. Although the restaurant was busy it looked as if too few staff and lack of organisation. Once the food arrived, service was better. Food on the other hand the food was good.

Pleasant staff. Felt we had been squeezed in - small table for 2 directly next to the closed section of the front door. Food looked great but the Yorkshire pudding was tough. Main grouse is that my main, lentil bake, consisted primarily of rice. I would be interested to see the recipe and find out what proportion of the dish should consist of lentils.

Booked originally for eleven people then had to change the booking due to circumstances and they couldn't have been more helpful. I emailed our Festive Fare choices and received an email back to confirm. Staff are great, just attentive enough, helpful, friendly,efficient and cheerful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, piping hot and just the right amount of everything. Will definitely recommend them and will book again

The Christmas meal was delicious. Plenty of meat and veg. Christmas pudding really nice. Young girl who served us was really pleasant and very efficient. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Good time had by all.

First time of visiting this pub/restaurant when we were visiting daughter in Birmingham and we will definitely return. The ambience was wonderful and the food was delicious made even more special by Shaz who served us throughout. She is an asset to this establishment as were the two other staff members we spoke to. Sorry I did not get their names.

We hadn't booked but we were accommodated although they were busy, the service was prompt, drinks first then the food order, the food was served prompt hot and excellent, they checked we were happy with everything also offering further delights. The premises were good and the staff pleasant, overall a good experience.

This visit was for my wife's birthday and it was AMAZING. The food choice was varied, The food quality was 1st class. Staff were friendly and attentive and a credit to the Hopwood. We have eaten out a lot recently and had to complain at one establishment. I would like to say thank you to all the staff front of house and in the kitchen for a fantastic night. The comfortable seating also helped you enjoy your food, the atmosphere was very nice. I cannot wait to return and enjoy another quality dish from an extensive menu.

Nice food .I fancied the mixed grill but unfortunately it's not on the.menu on Sundays. Still the large Cod and chips with mushy peas was tasty and filling. The lamb Shank was also good well cooked and the meat fell on the bone cooked a rich sauce with fresh vegetables. To full to enjoy a desert. Will go again. Prices are reasonable too.

The place was very well presented and clean. The people were so welcoming. It really made a difference. Being friendly and having a bit of friendly conversation really makes things nice. The food was hot and good quality.. we both had a lovely time and will definitely be going back when my parents visit.. Thankyou

Lovely decor in pub, nice and light, tables nicely spaced. Excellent service from staff who really looked after us well and were warm, welcoming and friendly. Food was outstanding, so tasty, great portions- we were extremely impressed. The desserts were divine. We really had a lovely evening, had never been before but were impressed all round and definitely will return...can't wait to!

This meal was a last minute decision as we had visitors staying for a family funeral. Booking system was so easy and we were greeted with a friendly smile when we arrived. This friendly atmosphere continued throughout the meal with all agents being very attentive and quick to deal with any requests. The food itself was absolutely delicious, all four of us agreed that it was one of the nicest meals we have had in a long time. Our visitors eat out at least three times a week and we’re very impressed with the steak and chicken. They have already booked to visit again on the understanding we can eat here again. Can’t wait for that and will be booking this week.

This is exactly how a pub should be run. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel very welcome. Drinks order was taken, followed by food order. All meals were excellent, the fish was huge n came with plenty of chips n mushy peas(,baked beans for one of us). The gammon was cooked to perfection. Well done to everyone at the Hopwood It's definitely going to be a favourite of ours from now on.

The Service was excellent, Shaz was extremely attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and good quality and value. There were 8 of us in the party and all enjoyed their lunch.

Waitress service was really good - we were a large group and all our needs were attended to. Meals came out quickly and together :). We were offered drinks throughout the meal. The restaurant was full so well done to the staff that served that day.

Great service and excellent food! The menu changes frequently with seasonally suited items and the menu offers items I’ve never seen else where! The quality of the food and how it is cooked is far beyond normal pub food! The childrens menu offer varied options and they are presented as well as adult dishes! Hopwood also has an area of games which is great for family bonding and entertaining children! The play area brings great nostalgia of my own childhood and seeing my child get the same joy from it is priceless! Overall just exceptional! Thank you!
