This place is so cute I been passing it for 30 years never went inside. But I did the other day I was not disappointed. I had regular eggs Benedict it was perfect with the hash browns and a great price as well . I will be going 🔙 soon

Cozy little home cooked diner. Great vibe and the food was solid. We came here on a Saturday for a late breakfast and sat outside because inside was full. We then proceeded to wait over an hour for French toast and eggs. I get that its a busy Saturday but at the very least give us a heads up that it might be a while. So my top tip is definitely try this spot - food is great. but don’t go during peak times. The small kitchen can’t handle it.

Nice old diner atmosphere. My wife and I are visiting our daughter in Boston and staying at the Hilton Garden in Brookline. Martin's is a 9 min walk. We both had the French toast, which were fluffy and very good cooked just right. The home fries were excellent. If you are in the area, you need to take a morning for breakfast.

Bleary eyed weary traveller that I was this morning, Arriving in Boston from across the Atlantic last night, For good coffee, better food and some smiles I was yearning. By Jove and all that is holy, breakfast at Martin’s set me right.

The most consistent and delicious brunch place around. It's a no frills type of place as they do all the basics exceptionally well. I love it and have been here more than any other brunch spot in the area. It's a small footprint, so expect a wait. You can also expect A TON of food. The hangover and stuffed french toast are my go-tos.

Place really comfy! Good localization, when you go by car it's pretty difficult to park, principaly in rush hours! There's a restroom in the kitchen, that you can use. You can sit in or out side coffee, or take out if you want! We ordered a Eifel Tower breakfast! It's so delicious and big meal! And in another time we order a teriyaki chicken! So delicious! I recommend!

I love this place! They have an extensive menu with great variety for breakfast and lunch. The breakfasts are big, beware! The French toast is very good, not thick or greasy. The omelets are clean and fresh. Their fruit salad was impressive- lots of variety and all perfectly cut and fresh, no mush. Excellent home fries, lots of flavor. The grilled veggies on breakfast also very flavorful. This place doesn't cut any corners. I would order anything from their menu with confidence and look forward to trying more of their food.

The farm fresh eggs are the moment here. My friend had the eggs Benny which looked amazing. The eggs were perfectly poached and the toast was perfectly toasted. Very tight space, but worth the squeeze.

Food is decent but service is bad. Waitress looks as if she doesn’t care a thing. Didn’t give us adequate time or explanation of things on the menu. Being busy is not an excuse for that. Could have been better.

Cozy place. Live food counter. Bar stools and also tables. Good menu and reasonable price. Finding parking can be challenging in rush hour. Sunday morning breakfast would be a great idea. Offers dine in, take out and delivery. Grubhub friendly. Has a small outdoor seating looking at the street.

Great little diner with incredible service and cooked to order food. The Belgian waffles were serviced with tons of fresh fruit, the chocolate chip French toast was incredible and the breakfast sandwich was delicious. The only this we didn’t love were the home fries…a tad too greasy for us in the morning. And the coffee was darn good as well, as one might expect from the name!

This place was great. Fast service and big meals. Went for brunch and tried their hot cocoa which was great and their delish/giant banana and nutella french toast.

Small and busy coffee shop with a large brunch menu. Food was really great and portions are large. I recommend the Irish breakfast if you’re feeling very hungry and like the various proteins in it.

Tremendous value from a classic diner! The entire staff was warm and welcoming and our meals were delicious. While on atkins/keto dietary restrictions, I rarely find a place that is able to meet most of my macros outside of a salad with a protein - but Martin's was able to feed me a feast of all the right things, and all for a great price. Portions are much larger than average so bring an appetite. Eduarda, the young Brazilian cashier, has such a great vibe! The north coast of Brazil must be super nice given her demeanor - her bright energy and peppy attitude really was the cherry on top of our experience. This is a restaurant I will undoubtedly return to when again in this area.

An old-school diner style, very clean “greasy spoon” with excellent food. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food arrived quickly and prepared perfectly. The portions were larger than expected and the bottomless coffee was awesome. I highly recommend this little hole in the wall. They accept credit cards but would prefer cash. We will definitely be back again.

***UPDATE: Adela from Martin's called me personally to apologize for my experience and assured me that if I choose to go back, they'll redo my lunch free of charge. 5 stars for Adela.*** Sad to share that I cannot patronize this establishment again. I went there on Friday towards the end of their day (2:30ish) to pick up an online order. When I got back to my office to eat, I realized that there was a hair in my wrap (at a little after 3:00.. their closing time). I just thought "Oh well.. I'll take a picture and show them when I get back to the office on Monday and they'll make it right". When I went back on Monday, the hostess gave me a number to call. I called and spoke to the manager who told me it's against the policy to issue refunds on food, and that I should have gone right back after I noticed the hair. I explained that I noticed after their restaurant was closed and I was going home for the weekend. It didn't dawn on me to call them first thing in the morning on Saturday to let them know about the hair because I JUST KNEW they'd be reasonable enough to issue me the refund or remake my food when I showed them proof of the hair on Monday when I was back in town. But he didn't budge and insisted that I'd waited too long to complain. He said he gets 20+ complaints like this a week and he "cannot make an exception to the policy for me". I'm shocked that there is such a policy that prevents someone who received unacceptable food from getting their money back. Regardless of whether it was 1, 2 or 10 days later. And I'll never understand why he'd lose a loyal customer over the price of a chicken club wrap but here we are.

Stumbled upon this cute little coffee shop while looking for a place for brunch in Boston. As a group of 5 in the midst of a pandemic, it was a bit of a challenge to find a place that could seat all of us but they were more than accommodating here. The food was wonderful the service was just as great. Highly recommended.

IG@daysoffwithray It was really good. I liked it. The only thing is that it's hard to find seating cuz it was really busy and it took like 45 minutes to get our food. I was still hungry good thing my friend didn't finish his pancakes 😂

Been there a few times now. Both breakfast and lunch food options are delicious. Portions are generous. Service on the other hand is beyond hilariously bad! They seem to have more than enough staff. Unfortunately, all of the staff seem to be standing around doing absolutely nothing except playing on their phones. Tables sit dirty for extended periods of time while patrons wait to be seated. Meanwhile staff seemed to be standing there staring blankly at the dirty tables. It's really bizarre to watch. And this is not a one-time situation. This has happened every time I've been there. Once you're fortunate enough to be able to order, be prepared for about a 45 minute wait for your food. But when it eventually arrives, it's plentiful and good. So it sort of depends on what your priorities are. The bathroom is not very clean. I feel like these problems could be easily fixed with a little guidance from management so it is sad to see them persist.

Glad we stopped in here to Martin’s for breakfast as it is excellent! Such huge portions for the money. Great value. The waitress was very sweet and we found the atmosphere to be the ideal mix of old timey diner and modern joint. The pancakes with Nutella were great and the massive plate of bacon, eggs, potatoes, sausage and toast was scrumptious. Would highly recommend visiting Martin’s!

Used to eat here a few times a year and always enjoyed it. Went recently for breakfast and it was a disaster. Honestly for a place that has "coffee shop" in the name this was the worst iced coffee I've ever had in my life. They take old hot brewed coffee and put it in the fridge to cool down. 40 minutes for food to be served. One of the cooks said he was going to step off the line to eat... at 10am when they are slammed? After he leaves the other cook starts making chicken breasts for lunch instead of the breakfast tickets piling up on his rail. Homes fries are soggy and not fully warmed up. $20+ a person for greasy spoon diner food not cooked well is a scam. Higher end brunch restaurant prices for Sysco corned beef out of a tub. We love to support family run businesses, but the ship has sailed on this one. The rest of the (hardworking) staff is running around like crazy with sweat on their brow while the two women up front, who I assume are part of the family that owns Martins, wastes time on their phones and stares out the window.

We waited about 45 minutes for a table on a late Sunday morning. There are only about 6-7 tables and some counter seats. It was quite crowded with diners, guests waiting, and people coming in for take-out. As expected, Martin's serves comfort breakfast foods like omelets and french toast. Food was not exceptional, but the ambiance is busy and warm. The open kitchen was entertaining to watch. We like frequenting small businesses like this one.

The service was really great quick and friendly. The downfall was the food. I order a skinny omelette (veggies) but the eggwhite was still raw, as well as some of the vegetables. The home fries were soggy and oily. The toast was also not toasted. Not recommending. Coffee was good and waitress asked if I wanted more milk since it was dark so I appreciated that gesture.

This is one of the best breakfast places ever. Their egg Benedict is delicious and one of the best. The portion size is large and filling. They are very generous. A very cozy diner that makes you feel like home. The staff are polite and friendly. The owner makes sure every customer is satisfied. I have been here twice and thought I should write this review because they truly deserve this. Must visit.

Been coming to Martin's since before I could reach the stools. Service is still great, food still amazing and the ambiance still has that old school diner feel to it that makes you feel at home. I'm personally love their eggs Benedict but to be frank you can go wrong with anything you order there, it's all great!

Being new to the neighborhood, we were happy to hear that there was a great breakfast place right in Brookline Village. We've been twice now in 2 weeks, and can confirm that the other reviews are accurate. First, the food is absolutely to die for. I'm a huge breakfast fan, but my wife is not, and this place is perfect for us because the entire menu, both breakfast and lunch, seems to be available the whole time. Eggs were done perfectly, the home fries are some of the best I've ever had, and her chicken kabobs and salmon were perfectly done, tender, and amazing. The side vegetables are particularly impressive, a really nice mix and very generous. Now, on the other side of the equation, the service is much slower than you'd expect given how good the food is. We went at the peak time, Saturday morning, and although the place wasn't full, or even that busy, it took more than 10 minutes for someone just to clean a table for us, and by the time we had ordered and received our food it was at least 45 minutes since we arrived. Don't really understand it, they seem to have enough staff, but for whatever reason they don't seem to be able to handle the workload efficiently. On the plus side, all of the servers are very friendly, they're just very slow. So, if you're not in a hurry, which generally I am not on a Saturday morning, this is a great place. Just adjust your expectations with regard to how quickly things will move, plan for a relaxing time, and you'll really enjoy the experience.

Still considering myself a newbie to the area, and after craving a real homemade breakfast sandwich, I stumbled upon this little hidden gem in the village. Enjoyed a fresh squeezed glass of OJ along wity bacon egg and cheese on an English muffin. Was exactly what I was looking for and reasonably priced Will be back to try the rest of the menu soon

An entirely C+ experience. Staff we’re not particularly friendly, seemed annoyed when I asked for something to be taken off the bill that I ordered but did not arrive with my food. The food itself was okay, I would compare it to University canteen food. Most frustratingly, it took 30+ minutes to arrive. Additionally, I was slightly concerned with the Half & Half that clearly states “keep refrigerated”, sitting out, not refrigerated. If you have all the time in the world, and customer experience is not a top priority this might be the place for you.

  • 4/5 Ali F. 1 year ago on Google
They have great breakfast options. The reason I gave them 4 star instead of 5 is that they don't have raw sugar for coffee. Almost all places these days have that on the table along with regular sugar. But the food was great and the staff was very friendly.

Wow! Best curly fries I've ever had. They are bursting with flavor without being oily. They are light and fluffy and give the perfect crunch. The salad was a huge portion and loaded with all the good stuff (bacon, pecans, cheese and apples). Definitely a great little hole in the wall with nice outdoor seating as well.

My wife and I stopped for breakfast. The food was good and much like home cooking. The decor and smaller (cramped) size of the restaurant were only reason I didn't give five stars.

  • 1/5 Chris U. 3 years ago on Google
The shop took over 1 hour to make us 2 sandwiches... A task that shouldn’t take anywhere near that long. That and they only serve drip coffee. IMO not making them worthy to call itself a coffee shop.

I had some free time at work and stopped in for lunch. The waitress was very accommodating. She was attentive and knowledgeable, making sure I was taken care of. When I recieved my meal and began eating, the chef told me to let him know if there were any problems. All staff were personable and the food was cooked expertly. Everything coming off the grill looked good too. If I'm in the area again I will certainly be back.

Wish I could give this place 0 stars. I ordered a breakfast from here and had Door Dash deliver it. The door dash person delivered me a delivery bag with food in it, with someone else's name on it. I messaged the dasher letting them know they delivered someone else's meal so that he could come pick it up and give it to the right person. Then I called Martin's Coffee Shop to ask about my order. The woman who answered was extremely condescending; she told me it was my job to open up the package of food that was delivered to check the contents of the food because sometimes the wrong slip gets put on the order. It's Martin's Coffee Shop that staples the slip onto the bag. Aka it's not the customer's job to open up other people's food orders to "check" if the wrong slip was put on the bag. She told me they couldn't remake my order. Nothing like starting your morning by spending $20 on something that doesn't even come, and then having the business tell you its your fault. Horrible.
