Delicious food, attentive staff and it was easy to just walk in and get a table. I've been to a different Ethiopian restaurant in the city but this one is much better. Everything we ate was delicious and the sour bread was not too sour, it was perfect!

My go-to spot for Ethiopian food in NYC! The best way to do is going with a friend or friends! I went alone but wished I could try more dishes but my stomach is not as big as my eyes and my wishes!

The food is very delicious, well seasoned, plenty of vegan options. The dish presentation is beautiful, I already started eating when I pictured it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This was my first time ever at an Ethiopian restaurant so the entire experience was foreign to me. The service was speedy and polite which I appreciated, but the explanation of how things worked at an Ethiopian dinner wasn’t as good. I really enjoyed the meats (got lamb and chicken) but the sauce weren’t my favorite (just my personal taste tho). My only real complain is the bread the serve it on gets extremely soggy quickly making it difficult to eat. Overall a cool spot but didn’t blow my mind

Upscale and with friendly service. Most of the food is good, especially the lentils, but the price is surprisingly high. If you're looking for Ethiopian food, there are better values nearby.

The food was delicious! Besides Indian food, Ethiopian had the largest variety of vegetarian/vegan food. The variety is fantastic! The injera bread is delicious and so we're all the 8 sides put plate had. Absolutely fantastic, would come again.

Really great stews, side dishes, pastes, seasonings, and injera. I tried a coconut lemon martini and it was good too.

The food was so good! We had three people and got the combination. We tried all the stews, the lentils, butternut squash, and other stuff. The spices were ethereal and we didn’t find a thing we disliked even though we tried 9 of the dishes! Also, I think that all of the vegetarian options were also vegan. We got a table right away without a reservation on a Friday evening. Service was attentive and the atmosphere festive as we ate in a little porch-like enclosure off the main dining area. Would definitely recommend highly!

Really delicious food would definitely recommend! Pricey unless you get the combination. Wait staff was nice and attentive no complaints. However the food was slow to come out. They definitely need to hire more cooks or streamline service in the back.

This was just the delicious flavorful and semi-healthy meal I needed. Got the vegetarian plate for two and your get to choose 8 veggies since it offers 4 per person. Favorites were the collard greens, split pea, mushroom, cabbage and potatoes, and the spicy bean. In addition we got the doro tibbs chicken stew, but that turned out to be too much food for two. Everything was SO GOOD. Be careful eating everything with all the injera, you’ll fill up quickly, and there are no utensils by default.

Full tables and very busy take out indicated promising food. It was excellent! The injera was perfect, the vegetarian selections and variety of Ethiopian dishes delicious. We have a new Brooklyn favorite. It is not a large restaurant yet.

The place is not that big but when it gets busy the service can be a bit slow. The prices are very reasonable. All of the stews were delicious with a lot of flavor. The spicy bean dish was excellent and the butternut squash was very good. I would not recommend the lentil dish (misir wett) and the cabbage dish (atkilt wett). Overall authentic food and nice atmosphere.

I visited here once about 4-5 years ago and I saved it in maps because it was great! This time not so much :/ I went with my girlfriend around 4pm and we were the only people in there. It smells nice and the ambiance is decent. We asked to sit at a table but the hostess/waitress said “no” as it was a table for 4 and we were only 2. Normally that makes total sense, but we were the only people in there. The hostess/waitress clearly did not have the passion to work there and the customer is not always right. That’s fine. The table we sat at was wobbly. Something that takes 30sec to fix was not fixed, not a good sign. The food was ok. I ordered a tea and the glass was dirty. We ordered a combo platter for 2 and the food was decent. The chicken normally falls off the bone, but it didn’t so I had to eat it by picking it up like a drumstick. Overall I’ve removed this restaurant from my saved places and won’t be back. Service is important to me but the service like the food seemed to lack passion or interest in serving the customer. Still looking for the best Ethiopian!

Stopped in for a meal with friends and had an amazing meal. Everything was flavorful and delicious while the service was friendly and able to give great suggestions for the differing tastes of my friends.

AMAZING flavorful food in big portions. I highly recommend the vegan combo plate to get a sample of everything. Eating here is a lovely experience, the servers are very kind.

Great food. My husband loved his beef tartare. The injera here is so good! The vegetable sampler was very good. I was excited to try the mushrooms. Some vegetables needed a bit of salt, but it was still very good. The honey wine was also good. I would definitely return

I've been a long time customer of Ghenet. The food is okay but the delivery is absolute garbage. Today we received an order with two combination platters, but no injera was included. When I called Ghenet to address this, the manager told me that we had stolen the injera after said he had checked the security footage. WHY WOULD WE DO THIS?!? I don't expect perfect service, but I don't expect to be treated like a criminal when trying to eat dinner.

Because I actually am from Los Angeles, grew up with Ethiopians & have eaten Ethiopian food since I was a child...I can say this is by far my worst experience in an Ethiopian restaurant. The restaurant environment, in of itself, wasn't bad. But, my ordering the vegetarian plate cost $29...the cost really wasn't the problem. The problem is they did NOT offer Salata (salad), which is typically a part of a vegetarian platter, the injera was NOT warm or fresh (perhaps the teff was stale?), and...the portion were EXTREMELY SMALL for the asking price. It took me 17 minutes to complete me meal & be out the door. When I asked my server if I could purchase an additional vegetarian side so I might be more filled she said,"We don't sell them individually." Did I leave a tip? Nope! Because I don't ever intend to return! It was whack! 👎🏽

I absolutely love this restaurant and Ethiopian food. I used to order from here multiple times. My review has nothing to do with the food (excellent) or the service (few times I have eaten at the restaurant it's been wonderful). It's to do with delivery. Their prices are much higher on DoorDash and when you get a combo you only get two sides vs four. When you order directly (which I am more than happy to do), it's a much better option. However, their site almost never works when processing payments, which is extremely frustrating. I would love to continue ordering delivery from here frequently, but hope they update their site!

Very very good! I'm visiting Brooklyn from Houston for the weekend seeing a friend. She brought me here for dinner, and I'm glad she did! Food was super good! She had the Ghenet combination plate, and I had the kitfo. The kitfo was ao damn good! Price was fair enough for the amount of food and quality of the flavor. Restaurant was clean. Staff was friendly. I'd say for sure give it a try if you're in the area! Definitely recommend!

Food is wonderful - best Ethiopian I've had in NYC. The food is 5 stars, but they get 4 because the service is very slow... and atmosphere could be more authentic (you don't sit or eat low to the floor here, for example). Still - great food.

This is reliably the best Ethiopian restaurant in NYC by far. Slightly spicier and much more flavorful. We get the vegetarian combo platter and it is always fantastic. There is another restaurant in the city with a very similar name, but the food there is not nearly as good. This is worth the trip if you love Ethiopian food. They also are vegan and gluten-free friendly.

Yummy Ethiopian food! I always have it home made but was craving take out and it did not disappoint! Staff was friendly. Portions are big. We got the vegetarian combo for 2 and we were able to eat it for 2 separate meals. Definitely check them out.

10/10 recommend! The portion size is perfect and there are a variety of vegetarian or meat options. I went around 4 PM on a Saturday and there wasn’t a wait.

Good Ethiopian food in a friendly neighborhood restaurant. The vegan combo was great value: my favorite add-on was the butternut squash. The dining room was very loud at capacity.

There was a bit of a wait when I arrived at Ghenets however I was seated within 10 minutes. I was a party of one so I did not mind sitting at the bar but the seats were a little uncomfortable and the server did offer me a table when one opened which was sweet. African food, especially Ethiopian has really been a favorite of mine lately and they did not disappoint. I ordered the yebeg tibs and everything was so flavorful. I ordered a drink that had ginger and green apple in it however, I cannot remember the name. It was very delicious and they definitely showed love on the liquor! I wanted to order another one but I decided against it since I don't drink much. My only dissatisfaction comes from the fact that the injera was a bit cold. My server checked on me frequently. I would definitely come back if I visit Brooklyn again!

Amazing. Food is ALWAYS delicious. I recommend getting the vegan combo for 2 with the butternut squash plate. We also got an order of the lamb which was also great. It’s a lot of food though, even if it doesn’t seem like it.

A very nice Ethiopian restaurant with great Vegan varieties. Quantity is pretty good and very budget friendly. Seating was a bit tight. To ask for a seating you have to go too in. Staff was courteous.
