I live uptown and came all the way here to support local artists/writers and enjoy a nice evening. I was not disappointed one bit! It’s so well decorated and they serves delicious cocktails. The ambiance was very welcoming and a great place to hangout with friends. As a queer person myself, I always like to find places in the city that’s welcoming and open to all. I was pleased to see an array of different people in this environment. Such a great place to spend an evening! I highly recommending coming and trying the expresso martini! 😉

Never a dull moment at fiction! So many amazing events to support local writers, poets, comedians, jazz activists ;) Sweet bartenders sometimes dance with us and offer free drinks to keep the boogie going ❣️

We checked this place out because the reviews were promising, but I was pretty disappointed. The coffee was dull, as if the grounds were old. The atmosphere was dirty and dingy. And definitely not kid-friendly (meaning there were no high-chairs or accessible bathrooms). The avocado toast was without taste, hard to chew, and awkward to eat. But our barista was kind and pleasant.

I visited this place to see a live "radio performance" of It's a Wonderful Life. I got two cocktails, as they have a credit card minimum. Their espresso martini tasted a bit off, maybe too much coffee. Their "Ginger Snap" cocktail had a strong flavor like a good ginger ale. Overall, the drinks were just okay but I did enjoy the show.

Chic unpretentious cool spot for coffee & cocktails. I was there for a neighborhood happy hour Friday night and loved finding this gem! It is almost like a speakeasy type of bar with its cool portraits and velvet topped sofas. Loved the ambience. Great decor, yummy cocktails, friendly staff, good music and overall great vibe!

Very great experience here. Atmosphere is intimate and cozy and the service is grade A. Drinks are really good and this is a nice place to come to get some work done or just stop in for coffee or a quick drink. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!! I'll definitely come back next time I'm in NY

Fiction is a fun place to hang out and the drinks are great. The performers seem happy with their business arrangement. I spoke with one of the owners, who is a musician himself and knows the importance of getting paid for gigs. He assures me any recent problems/misunderstandings were worked out. I'm not sure why this smear campaign is going on, but since the accusations are coming from "friends" and not the musicians themselves, I'm suspicious of their slams.

The staff is lovely! Dark Victorian vibes with really comfy booths and tables for laptop-ing. Had a refreshing peach black tea. But 5/5 for being a relaxing place to post for hours with no one bothering you. p.s. it has to be said that for the entire time I was there it felt like I was hotboxing. As a Californian I can hang and it might just be Brooklyn but ….

What a treat to have some quiet live jazz serenade my morning burrito and coffee (which were both delish). A gem.

Big fan of the cold brew and now they have a cool subscription program where you pay like $79 a month and get it every day. Very cool vibe, also. Only wish is for more vegan stuff please!

A place to visit once. Went in to try a drink special listed on their sign outside, 2 for 1 espresso martinis. I guess they're only available after 5pm at that discount.. maybe.. since I saw a man order two of them at the bar next to me... I have my doubts. Seems kinda backwards to have specials after 5 on a Friday night, but not at 4pm... 🙄 So two drinks, one just a G&T, the other a spiked cocoa, ran me $30... For a laid back drink in the afternoon, that's ridiculous... And while the vibes are pretty cool here, I wouldn't wanna sit here for more than one drink.

I have been coming here for a while for their coffees and lattes which are amazing, especially their chagachino but I just don’t know why their food is so disappointing. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese and cucumber thinking maybe it would be good this time and it had just a minuscule smear of cream cheese on one side. Definitely way overpriced for what I received as well. Maybe they are just too busy and understaffed to put effort into any of the food? I normally never write reviews but I have been quiet for too long on this one. Great for coffee and specialty lattes but that’s about it.

Cute little spot. It's mostly a bar I think, but they also have a small breakfast menu. I've only gotten the breakfast burrito, but both times I went it was very tasty. Coffee is good too. Atmosphere is very cute and service friendly.

Nice spot to chill if you have work to do during the day. There’s coffee is really good, the servers are great. They also have nice events at night. I went once to the jazz nights on Wednesday.

A nice place to get coffee & work or hang out. Great selections of specialty lattes (rose cardamom was really good). Cozy scene, comfy chairs, dim lights, good music & 5G Wi-Fi. What more could one ask for?!

This laid-back cafe (and bar) may be my favorite find of my trip to NYC. The cold brew is flavorful and the happy hour deal is the best I've seen in the city. On the outside, it feels like your favorite college cafe. Inside, it is moody but still approachable. The staff has been consistently lovely since my first order. If I come back to the city, I'll seek out a return visit!

It's a laid back, comfortable, casual bar that sometimes has live standup comedy, poetry and/or music. I came for some jazz, which was great. It is in Bklyn but only about 10 minutes from Manhattan on the L or M train and just half a block from the subway. The decor is old fashioned, not trendy. More like an old pair of slippers than a pair of new, trendy (but tight) shoes.

Very relaxing, an enjoyable atmosphere, and some delicious food! A truly wonderful place to be. This aesthetic makes me feel at home and relaxed, so much so that I almost wish I lived here. The chandelier, the comfy chairs and sofas, the delicious desserts and coffee, paired with the wood paneling and the relaxing music make for a great experience. Would recommend!

Not sure how the cafe is during the day but I’ve been here a few times for the ‘hi hello comedy show’ at night and it’s a bust every time. Bartender doesn’t acknowledge who’s been standing around first, very crowded and limited seating if you show up when the show starts. There’s also a drink minimum of $15 (understandable with cheap tickets). Ok place but rather hit other comedy shows in the area.

Wow. This place is so cool! Fancy cocktails. Like, FANCY cocktails but also a totally fun vibe. Glad they’re bringing this to the neighborhood. Definitely gonna lock down ‘regular’ status here

Great cafe for working - nice cozy ambiance, wifi and outlets, very friendly staff, good teas/lattes. My only complaint is the $8.25 burrito I ordered, while tasty, was pretty small. That said I'd definitely return - especially since it looks like they also serve drinks and host live music events.

I have been coming here regularly since 2016 since it is almost across the road from my place, and it is the best local spot I could have asked for. Not only is the coffee great (and I'm particularly fussy about coffee), but the staff are always friendly and accommodating. I often take my laptop and set myself up in the corner for the day and no one bugs me to leave or makes me feel uncomfortable about occupying space as is the case with some other spots. It is truly a gift to find a place that has such a good vibe, so close to home. I'm reluctant to even post this because to be honest, I'd rather the rest of you stay away, but they deserve these five stars. Thank you everyone at Fiction, love you guys and love this place!

I have been coming here for years and have always had a great experience. I have enjoyed getting to know the staff and the owner and watching this neighborhood, indie-owned gem evolve. Best breakfast burritos in Brooklyn! Staff is friendly and the place is always alive and well kept.

This place is great for a coffee/tea and quick bite to eat. I have work in the area and I’m always on the go so it’s nice to have a place to take a break. They have restrooms for customers 😊, the environment is open and calming. Love the dim lighting and smooth jazz playing in the background, I might fall asleep. Just gives off a really cool vibe. Also the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend!!

I called ahead to ask about live music and they told me there would be a comedy show at 7 and jazz at 9. We went at 7 and there seemed to be no show. So I'm not sure what happened. We didn't stay to see about the jazz, but we'll definitely check it out another time. Check out their happy hour deals from 5-7pm.

The place is gorgeous and the baristas are always friendliest ever. I had the single origin cold brew and, as usual, it was delicious. My favorite place to go to for good vibes and yummy treats- specially the donuts, yum.

Yo the veggie breakfast burrito was great. So was the coffee. It was my first time there this morning after the gf suggested it. Can’t wait to check it out for drinks now that I live super close. Also, the staff was very nice.

It's nice to find a diner like this. Older small and great service. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The food was really good. Made just like home but a little better. The waitress was nice, funny and on point with coffee refills.

Came here for cocktails! The atmosphere was cozy and vibrant, and there was a live jazz band that blew me away. The bartender was spectacular - I requested a cocktail using yellow chartreuse and she surprised me with a naked and famous, which is now my favorite cocktail. Perfection.

super cool vibes at this place. we went on a saturday night because we weren’t ready to go home after dinner. my friend got a glass of wine and i got an americano with steamed oat milk. i asked for decaf, and the barista accidentally made regular, which i didn’t find out until i went back up for another. i appreciated that he at least told me and even gave me the second one—this time a decaf—on the house. there was also a birthday party going on there at the time but it was still a great experience.
