I am very disappointed at this place. I have been to happy lamb many times, but first time at this Ottawa location. I know how much I could eat therefore I was very straightforward and ordered exactly the amount I would like to have for each item. But the food they gave me was way less and some items were missing. I pointed out it was not the same quantity and the guy said “impossible I am giving you that much for the first round. You can order again the second round”. Okay. I ordered the second round with the same quantity, he gave me even less on exactly the same item as last time. These items were shrimp, mussel, and lamb spine. I know these items might cost a little more than other items, but it’s an all-you-can-ear restaurant and I am not wasting any food, no? So I gave up the third round because they will never give me what I wanted. I think this is a trick they play, which is stupid and ingenue. Anyway, they asked for tips and I refused to give any tip. For 20 years living in Canada, for the first time I left with no tip. Won’t ever step into this chain again. Please refer to the photos. The ones I circled out were the ones they were trying to be sneaky with and the small number under was the actual quantity I got.

First time for hot pot here. Nicely decorated and clean restaurant. There were seven of us and we each had our own hot pot. We had lamb, beef, chicken, pork and a huge selection of vegetables. Service was very good. Good selection of sauces. If you have not done hot pot you must bring friends.

This was our first hot pot experience and it had been something we've wanted to try for a while. It was phenomenal and so highly recommended. The service was great, the instructions were clear, and the servers even helped us with things that weren't obvious to first timers, like getting sauce from the sauce area. We may have gone overboard but it was worth it to try the really wide array of dinner options. The lamb was incredible in every form and everything else was fresh and gorgeous. Portion sizes were ample or clear about what you were getting. Would've been 5 stars if just a few small touches were offered. Touching raw meats (like garlic chicken) with my chopsticks because there was no alternative isn't ideal but there were no additional pieces of cutlery at the ready. And the stovetop element seemed to really favor a single spot, so the shared pot with two types of base were competing for cooking priority. These are really small nit picks and not at all a reason I wouldn't return, because we definitely will!

There is lots of choices if you take the buffet. The whole system didn't make sense to me but I ate well. Place was busy, which is a good sign. The pathway between right and left of the restaurant was always jammed, this is where people crossed and the employees hang out. We had the mushroom broth, and curry broth. Both very good. We will be going back. Reservations should be made ahead of arrival.

Went for ayce dinner. Our top favourite was the hand pull noodles! Very good texture! And when it soaks up the soup - it's so irresistible! My personal favourite were the winter melon slices and the garlic chicken and beef. We got the spicy broth and the plain broth, both were very flavourful! The spicy one was not that spicy but had a very very slight numbing sensation at times. There were also a good selection of sauces to pick from! Although the broth was so flavourful that the sauces wasn't even necessary most of the time! We can order three rounds and there wasn't a time limit for our stay, which was really nice cause it gave us time to eat and then eat some more! Will come again when I'm craving hot pot!

UPDATE Sept. 23 — they changed it to self serve and even more items! This is a great place to chill and enjoy some real Chinese hotpot. I am a big fan of the spicy broths. There are two kinds, Hot and Spicy Butter... the spicy butter one is hottest (so beware!) and seems to have more green peppercorns (the spice that makes your mouth numb) I try to go there every week. I am addicted.

I think most of you who goes are familiar with everything there but lemme share incase if you dont 😅 We (3 of us) got the Triple flavour broth $12.99++ for the hotpot with Spicy, Mushroom, and tomato soup (highly recompense the tomato soup) and fir the food itself all you can eat its close to $per person. Basically you can pick what ever you want as much as you want from a big selection of meat, vegetables and seafood. This is why id say the price you pay is fully worth it. My star of the night other than the food was the side dish you make yourself with sesame paste different kinds of sauce and spices. I made mine with sesame paste, crushed peanuts, sesame oil, red chilli paste. Loved the whole experience there definitely would go again with friends. Oh btw the drinks are free as well and you can buy alcohol. Help yourself for some pics and videos 😁

Happy Lamb Hot Pot is an all you can eat Chinese hot pot restaurant. They have a large selection of meat, seafood, vegetables, noodles, dumplings, and meatballs. There is something for everyone here to cook. The broths were good, the clear broth could use a bit more flavoring it was a bit bland. Service was very attentive and quick to clear off empty plates. Staff were friendly and helpful with questions.

First time at Happy Lamb Pot in Ottawa. We were a table of 5, got forgotten about when seating and sat way after a family of 6 who came in after we did. They did not pick up the table's order we had to flag someone down after 20 minutes of waiting. Few errors on the order and forgotten items. Food was good however and plentiful. For my first experience I can say that it was enjoyable besides the setbacks.

Great hotpot joint in the west end. The 2 in 1 split broth pot was convenient as one of my friends is vegan. On that note there is a massive selection of tofu and vegetables. The three of us could only stomach one round and had leftover vegetables. Everything was delicious. Sesame balls are small but fresh. No reservations. We didn't get a single top up of broth and the servers were not so attentive although they seemed to have very few staff for a busy evening.

I came here with my friends looking for a new experience, we are all not of Mongolian or even asian nationality so we came in knowing absolutely nothing. The food was really good and the service was great. However as people who had no idea about how everything works it was quite difficult. I think the low star reviews are more about people not understanding the concept than actually not liking the food. I think I will definitely come back knowing now that there is a less spicy option and since I have the experience this time. I highly recommend the experience!

Delicious broth, lots of options & very fast service! Always a delicious experience. Edit: they have recently done renovations & now the items are all served in a buffet style! It makes the experience even better, in my opinion. Now you get exactly what you want & as much of the item as you are willing to eat, I hope that it will help them reduce waste & increase the likelihood of people trying new items.

My recent visit to the hot pot restaurant was truly exceptional, leaving me eager to share my delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, the welcoming ambiance set the stage for an enjoyable evening. The restaurant's cozy yet vibrant atmosphere instantly caught my attention. What truly stood out was the diverse selection of fresh ingredients available for the hot pot. From thinly sliced meats to a colorful array of vegetables, the quality and variety were commendable. The broths offered a symphony of flavors, ranging from rich and savory to light and refreshing. The staff was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also incredibly attentive, ensuring that our hot pot experience was seamless. The interactive nature of hot pot dining adds a communal aspect, making it perfect for sharing with friends or family. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness, and the customizable nature of the meal allowed us to tailor the experience to our preferences. In summary, this hot pot restaurant exceeded expectations with its stellar ingredients, flavorful broths, and impeccable service. Whether you're a hot pot aficionado or a first-timer, this establishment promises a memorable and satisfying dining experience. Highly recommended!

Meats are fresh, food-serving is fast, staff is welcoming and honest. Snakehead is must-order. The sauce is a super, especially sesame! Have been there for couple of times, noting to complain.

First time eating here to celebrate mothers day. Food was great. Nice and helpful customer service. I just wish that there is a choice for.level of hotness in the soup base coz there's a ton of chili in ours.

Having hotpot on a cold rainy day is always a good choice. I've been there many times with frds. Price is reasonable, around $25 per person, all u can eat. Also, it's way much cheaper than the other hotpot restaurant on Merivale. I like their lamb, beef, oyster mushroom, lamb spine, beef tripe, sponge tofu! Sponge tofu would absorb the soup and it’s very tasty. Kitchen is not alway giving you what or how many portions of food you want, though. For example, you want 4 portions of beef, they probably only give you 2 in case they think you’ll waste the food. So you have to order more and make it specific when talk to the waiters.

Great place for craving tender lamb thin slices . Would recommend go with someone knowing how. I think there is a blind spot for the business owner here, assuming customer knowing what to do. I love the food and the place, but do hear some frustration. This place deserve 5 stars for its value and quality.

We went to eat here @ 3pm in the afternoon, The music was Sooo loud, I almost thought I was at a night club ! Most staff sat a table to eat there lunch, I had to wave down someone to get served, the staff run to there own drumbeat for sure, you can tell there was No manger present, and if there was poor management .. I found it expensive for 3 people as well. 170.00

The portions are huge, we couldn't even go for a second round. The staff is polite, and the restaurant is big, it can accommodate many clients at the time. The tables and chairs are very comfortable. The food is good, but not extremely tasty, and the sauce table was messy. I wish they had oyster sauce and peanut sauce, like they have in other hotpot restaurants. The complimentary sweets are delicious.

I figured that the reviews complaining about the slow service were overstated, but they were not. We waited 45 mins before getting our first order in, we only got one round out of 3 because no service, and all in, the meal took 2.5hrs and only ended when we got last call, so we were able to order dessert. Don't go to this location

The food is amazing. As a first time goer, the servers are nice but as you go back again and again, you're not treated as properly anymore. Kinda sad. Dessert took longer to be served. We had to pay before they actually give our desserts. They don't give the right amount of dessert as you ordered. Anyways we may not come back. We're not Happy with the service anymore, And we come from Clarence ON to visit this place.

It was really good! The service was decent. Any staff member seemed to be our waiter or waitress. Empty dish removal and water refill were on time and perfect The food itself was very good! I was surprised at how much variety was offered The price was a bit of a surprise. It was a little more expensive than I had expected. I think I'd come again for sure! Some tips; you need to ask for more broth. They will assume you don't wish to start over the boiling process.

When they say spicy it’s spiccccyyy so I would recommend if you can’t handle spicy to get the plain broth. I had to switch it because I was dying. I wasn’t prepared for the level of spicy 🌶 It wasn’t my proudest moment lol. Overall first time coming here and it was great! I would come again.

Always a massive hit. Good quality meats, seafood, veggies and carbs for an AYCE price. I can't get enough of the lamb!! They have an amazing selection of broths, but the spicy butter is the best and the most flavourful IMO. Wide choices of ingredients at the sauce bar too. Service can be a bit slow when they are understaffed- but if you're patient, it's a great experience and a fun time with friends!

The lunch price is pretty good for what you get and dinner is not too expensive either. The food is good and there’s sauce options as well. You honestly can’t go wrong with hotpot. Their meats are high quality and cut super thin! Their handmade noodles are delicious as well! Often times when I order, the amount that comes is much less or more than I ordered, usually much less. My only 2 problems are that the floor is super oily and very slippery in some spots. The biggest problem is that they’re usually understaffed and you don’t get the best service.

Went there this evening. Very happy and will go back in the future. The young man that wanted in us took time to share with us what we needed to do in terms of food prep. The stock was tasty. My only complaint would be the small portions for three of us. We ordered 3 noodles, but they only brought one. Desserts were tasty, even with a plastic spoon for ice cream...lol.

Nice clean place. The server was very personable. The hot soup was really spicy i could not handle it. I was quite upset. The did not bring all that we ordered. We made one order of the meat(10 slivers) and when we ordered the second round they said the meat had run out. So basically i paid 26 bucks to eat vegetables. Not going back.

First time came here. The staff is nice and friendly. But some of the portion of the order are very unacceptable. We first ordered 4 of the veggie and was feeling not enough, so we placed a second order for 10 of the spinach. Lol, there were only 10 pieces of spinach. We were shocked and didn’t know if we should laugh or mad.
