This clinic waisted My time. They started the process in 2020 and delayed everything. They said they had license issues and could not do anything until they were functional again. I would do a blood test and everything and no reply by the nurse. The front desk never picked up my phone. I wrote emails for months with no response. They were not able to schedule appointments and said they lost ability to do ivf in quebec at some point. The doctor makes you wait days and forgets that you have an appointment. Not sure how they are still legally practicing. I received an email a few months ago for a follow-up from over two years. Avoid this place

I wish I could give this doctor and his practice no stars. I would advise anyone who is struggling with fertility issues to stay away, far away! Dr Tan and the medical director were unprofessional, unethical, rude, had no customer service, and run the office like a chaotic circus. Not only was he not prepared for my appointment despite having given him past medical files prior, but he also began asking irrelevant questions that were already answered on his personal intake form a month prior to the session which communicated to me that he didn't even bother to open my file prior to the appointment to review basic information about me, my partner and our medical history. Then, the doctor began asking me about my various blood levels and whether they were “okay”. Shocking. That’s his job to interpret test results; not mine the patient. He was constantly being corrected by his staff. The office manager admitted to the doctor not being properly prepared and giving us the incorrect appointment type (a basic first consultation) however despite that still wanting to charge us 650$ for the appointment. After sending countless emails they finally refunded only half the amount. The infertility process is stressful enough and it saddens me to think of other people wasting their time, money and emotions on an incompetent doctor with bad ethics, bad bedside manners and a disorganized chaotic staff; except for the receptionist who was great. No doubt his office will say that they spent time preparing my file, but they couldn’t even get that right; the file they created had incorrect and incomplete information. Quite scary considering all they had to do was transcribe the information from my prior medical records to their forms. Everyone has their day; Dr. Tan had his long ago.

We had exactly the same experience as Melissa mentioned below. I must add that the receptionists and Pui Shan Lee (acting as Dr Tan assistant) were very kind and good at their role. In short, go to a better organized and more professional institution; it will cost you less money, you'll be treated like human beings, and they will have a better insight of what is actually going on with your fertility problems. Dr Tan has been unethical, rude, unprofessional and simply lazy. He was never prepared on all appointment we had. Always alarmist after each echo, never explaining the risks correctly (I am a neuroscientist researcher, I do know a thing or two about statistics and interpretation). For example, my wife got prescribe anti-anxiety medication prior to all the process (by them), and at some point, she got pregnant. For three test (blood test, first echo, second echo), they schedule the appointment too early, and had to come back AFTER the test (thus, paying twice). At the first echo, we learned that the heartbeat was too slow, at 5 weeks. If you look at the literature, the standard deviation at this age is so high that it is irrelevant (you must wait for 6 week). Thus, my wife got prescribed progesterone even though her levels were normal, based on this too early echo. This (very costly) medication has no effect on a fetal heartbeat, but could help for other pathologies. Of course, after rescheduling the next week, everything was fine. They saw (very small) traces of blood, though, and his reaction was VERY alarming. After verification, this is perfectly normal if it doesn't increase in the next week, but before that there is a very high chance that this is benign. Did I mention that mid-question, Dr Tan TURN TOWARDS HIS COMPUTER SCREEN AND STARTED TO READ THE NEWS?! What a joke. Then I asked if her medication could affect or cause this bleeding, and he was puzzled. He looked at our file, said "what medication, what are you talking about", we mentioned the anti-anxiolitic HE PRESCRIBED, and then after whispering to his assistant, went to see the pharmacist on place, then came back and said "there should be no problem, but let's stop it". (spoiler alert: there is no correlation at all according to litterature and professionals). Do you know, among other factors, what naturally causes bleeding at the first trimester? Stress. This doctor will give you plenty of it. We then schedule the harmony test (chromosome anomaly detection, and concurrently the sex of the baby). They called us to say they got the results, then made us wait, then said "oh we don't have them yet sorry". We directly called the lab, and gave us the results (they had it). Did OriginElle called us back? Nope. They then tried to schedule the 12th week echo at our 11th week (again!). Everything was fine, but I could not be present at this one. My wife then got called to Dr Tan office, and as soon as she entered: "It's a girl!". Now, imagine we did not want to know it yet, or that my wife wanted us to hear it at the same time, he would have screwed this moment (of course, because we called the lab, we knew, but he was not aware of this).

If I could give this clinic zero stars, I would. I was 43 when my partner and I started being seen at Originelle. It had another name back then, but it was the same clinic, the same Dr. Tan. Despite knowing that we needed IVF, they strung us along and wasted our time for a year while providing ZERO treatment. Queries as to why IVF had not begun were met with: the doctor will schedule you when he thinks you're ready. When we finally realized we would never get treatment at Originelle and switched to another clinic, we were given the devastating news that at 44, they considered me too old for IVF with my own eggs. Originelle didn't have an age cut-off for treatment, so we hadn't realized that other clinics did. We tried every other clinic in the area, but the response was the same: at 44, our only option was IVF with donor eggs. This was back in 2013 when the Quebec government was willing to fund several IVF cycles. Without that financial assistance, we couldn't afford IVF treatment, so we didn't have the option of trying clinics in the US or abroad where the age cut-off is higher. So, thanks to Originelle, I lost my only chance to have a child with my own eggs... to have a child that is biologically connected to myself and my partner. I will never get over this. They played god with my life and I was the loser. Don't trust them with your dreams.

I agree with the review of Mia J Damas. They have a terrible customer service. It's understandable that the clinic might be very busy but that's not an excuse for sub par service. There is practically no follow up after any stage. Here's an easy breakdown for new clients who are considering this clinic: 1. The clinic will call you and if you miss the call and immediately call back no one will pick up the call 2. You can leave multiple voice mails but you will never get a call back. And as I mentioned, no one picks up the call 3. The first call with the Doctor happened few hours after the scheduled time. And no attempt was made to inform that the call may get delayed. So for someone who is taking time away from work to attend the call will be in for a rude surprise. 4. Finally when the call happens, the Dr will inform that someone will call to book the tests he has recommended 5. You will spend more than 2 months and still no call or any form of follow up will happen to book any tests. Oh and as I mentioned, voicemails will not help. Makes me question that if they can't follow up on simple appointment booking, how can they be expected to follow up on serious matters that they are treating patients for.

The nursing staff are very friendly and held my hand during my egg retrieval which was very painful for me. the nursing staff is the ONLY REASON I am giving this place any stars. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. EVER. I had an IFV cycle done and all of my embryos died and no one even called to tell me. I just got an email from the embryologist saying they did not reach the proper stage, that's it. Dr. Tan while very knowledgeable is never on time for appointments. I am sitting on a zoom bridge now at 1 pm for an appointment that was scheduled for 11 am! incredibly unprofessional.

They are kind, professional. Except, you have to wait a long time. For example: my appointment is at 10:00 a.m. but I wait until 11:00 a.m. to have a treatment. All the times are like that. It wastes my time too!

I started my infertility journey in 2019. After many procedures, an IUI and 2 IVFs including one miscarriage I went to Originelle. We started our journey with Dr. Tan in October 2021 and after my 1st IVF we are blessed with a pregnancy. We are now 14 weeks pregnant and we cannot wait to see our little babies. Our experience was smooth and the team was so helpful. We would like to send a special thank you to two amazing women Sanaa and Rabiaa, thank you for you support and professionalism. Thank you Dr. Tan, our dream will see the light because of you. Farah and Ali

My wife and I would like to thank Dr.Tan and his entire team for always being passionate and professional on our journey. When other clinics turned us away and put us on very long waiting lists just to get a consultation, Originelle was open and friendly to listen and help us immediately. Some reviews mention long waits but it is understandable. They are truly trying to help as many people as they can and take on more challenging patient cases that other clinics would not even consider taking.

Bad service from the nurses who answer you I don't have time call back later or the secretaries who ask you how I do it before even starting the treatment I changed clinic and believe me it was faster in another clinic I asked for information who took 1 month to answer me so I lost a total of 2 months for the treatment to finally get me to answer I don't understand I can't help you arrange mediocre service everything is to see again and I told the attending doctor who asked me pk I changed department I told him the customer service is not good at all and that the nurses will answer you who has no time or just that to do or its chaile you because you don't speak English it's nonsense to never go there I'm at McGill mnt and 100% better and satisfy them at least it's human and warm and take the time with you to understand and listen to you

Worst experience from a fertility clinic! Very unorganized! First of, they booked me for an ultrasound and sent me at the wrong place and blamed it on me saying I should of asked for the location (even if it was written in the confirmation email). Then came my follow up appointment via zoom. Since I did not receive any link, I contacted the receptionnist to get one, and they said that the will call me later (which they never did and mind you, had to take the day of). The straw that broke the camels back was when I was scedule for a hysteroscopie in Montreal (2 hours drive) and they dif not have my appointment in their system. i would stay away! Definatly DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I switched to Originelle after a truly terrible experience at MUHC. Going into this, you have to understand that clinics such as MUHC are public and therefore there are no fees, but Originelle is not, and you do need to pay for tests, medications, etc. That being said, I would do it 100 times over. Every single time I speak to a member of their team or the physician himself, I am HEARD. People listen to me, answer my questions and concerns and genuinely are interested in finding the best solution for us. They typically always fit me in next day for scans or bloodwork, and have actually advised against certain procedures I am willing to pay for that they truly don't believe will help my particular diagnoses. Stating that there is no need for me to spend money I don't need to. I truly feel like I can trust the staff here, and I always leave smiling. I recommend this clinic to everyone trying to conceive.

Me and my wife have had the best experience at the clinic over the past 7-8 months of our visit. Everyone working there is really nice, warm and professional. This is definitely one of the best clinics in Montreal and we have never had a bad time there.

I do not recommend this clinic. Our journey started in June or July 2022. We did blood tests, ultrasounds, hystero, etc. and waited for the results. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrom. Dr Tan prescribed me "Metformin", that causes nausea, diarrhea, etc. In September, Dr Tan put me on birth control pill for one cycle and I had to take Femara once I would get my period. I took Femara, and when we did the ultrasound, there was no mature follicul to start an insemination. In October, we’ve been told that I had a polyp and it had to be removed before starting a new cycle. This polyp was diagnosed when they did the first exams back in summer. We have asked questions, and they couldn’t confirm the size of the polyp, they were just telling us we had to do a surgery. We did the surgery at their clinic. A few days later, I had huge cramps and fluids, and it was impossible to reach anyone at the clinic. I thought I had an infection, so I contacted my practician so she can do her checkup. I had an ultrasound at another clinic (thank god) to ensure everything was OK. Around December 20, we have decided to stop any treatments at this clinic. Here a few reasons why we recommend you to avoid this clinic: 1) It is almost impossible to talk to someone when you are calling. I had to show up multiple times at clinic to be able to speak with someone. 2) As soon as you have an appointment, they ask you that you have to do an ultrasound, that costs 150$ (in 2022). You do not know why, but you have to do one. 3) If you ask to have a copy of the ultrasound reports, they can only provide the ultrasound pictures. So you are paying 150$ and you can’t have a report. 4) If you want to change clinic, they will not cooperate to send your file to the other clinic. 5) Dr Tan told us "Here are two books, take a picture of them, go read them and you’ll know everything about fertility". In my book, it is a lack of professionalism. Basically, we felt lost, not well guided, and let on our own. This clinic seems to prefer quantity over quality. The only positive comment I can make is the following : I would like to thank two people : Olga, one of the nurse working there, and Dr Eli, who both have been a good help in this journey.

I am pleased to share my incredible experience with Originelle’s fertility services. The exceptional staff at the clinic has truly made this emotional journey easier for my husband and myself. We are grateful for being treated by such a world class team, starting with Dr. Michael Dahan. From the very beginning Dr. Dahan provided an accurate diagnosis and created a plan for us. Thanks to his expertise we achieved a positive pregnancy test on our very first attempt. I must also express my great appreciation to Deana, who played a key role in ensuring that our time at the clinic was nothing short of amazing. Deana went above and beyond, not only by promptly addressing all our questions but also by offering ongoing emotional support. Her professionalism and genuine care alleviated much of the stress associated with the process making it much easier for us to navigate. As we celebrate the completion of our first trimester, we cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are to Dr. Dahan, Deana, and the entire staff at Originelle. Their efforts have helped us fulfill our lifelong dream of starting a family. We are forever grateful for their exceptional care and great support throughout this journey.

Words cannot describe the gratitude towards Dr. Tan, the nurses and the staff at Originelle. That type of expertise, academic and professional, is hard to impossible to find in Quebec. As a woman over the age of 40, it was important for me to find a clinic that was ready to go above and beyond the basic protocole available in most other clinics - all the minute details are taken in consideration in order to aim for success. It is not surprising that they have the highest R & D activities. All that being said, as it is a difficult road for all, I strongly recommend going through the experience with a therapist. It will make a great difference. Thank you again, Dr. Tan, as we now have a healthy baby boy! :) For all hesitating to start their fertility journey, do not wait longer than necessary and go with what I believe to be the best. Courage!

Reception staff is very rude and they are clearly not qualified for the job. I understand we have a labor shortage but can't HR try little harder to recruit half-decent employees?? Nurses, technicians and doctors are good though.

My egg freezing journey with OriginElle was simple, easy and personable from Day 1. They are busy (and you may have to hold for a short while if you're phoning) but their administration team always picks up the phone and are available for patient and potential patient questions. Consultations with Dr. Tan were always informative and friendly - he was great at prescribing the right kind of follicle stimulation drugs for my specific case. I had no symptoms during IVF stims at all (just some very minor bloating). The nursing staff and coordinators are also very welcoming. Considering how busy fertility clinics are - all my ultrasounds and blood tests were always on time. Very efficient! I was also happy to learn that all blood tests can be done for an administration fee of $40.00 (you don't need to hop around in the public system trying to get the RAMQ covered ones, which causes more stress to your schedule). May I also note that they have a pharmacy in-house, so patients can get their drugs and the right information right there - no need to fill elsewhere. The actual egg freezing procedure with Dr. Mok was also professional and efficient (I was pretty nervous), but he did a great job. Afterward, I did not end up needing the Tylenol with codeine prescription I had, or even regular strength Tylenol at home. My only symptoms were some bloating and soreness ( to be expected). I understand that each case is different, but It really helps to align with a team that is there for their patients. Thank you OrginElle!

Absolutely worst experience ever in the health system, and that is saying a lot! 4 appointments given over the course of 2 months and the doctor NEVER SHOWED UP TO ANY OF THEM. We took that as a blessing in disguise and went elsewhere. These guys never pick up the phone and never call back - how could you ever trust them with your treatments?

No reason specified, no one called, no mail sent nothing, just canceled. It's definitely not acceptable. I should have read all reviews before booking an appointment darn...

I came back to Originelle after my maternity leave. I have left a review 2 years ago when I became pregnant and I was so very very happy to have a child. The clinic is the same as before, with the nicest possible receptionist, nurses, coordinators, ultrasonographer, and of course, Dr Tan, who is undoubtedly one of the most patient and knowledgeable fertility doctor in the world. I saw his name on the front cover of Fertililty Sterility 2019 which recognized him to be one of the top 40 fertility experts in the world. He is the only expert from Canada. I am so lucky to be his patient. I went through treatment last month, and here I am, with bHCG of 322. Pregnant again. Thank you and I love you all.

We have had a wonderful experience at this clinic. In fact, we were previously at a different clinic and decided to switch because we were not receiving the support we needed. The entire Originelle staff from the receptionists to the andrologists to the clinical director are extremely accessible, friendly, and helpful. You will not be waiting long to have your calls returned or questions answered. We have felt comfortable and well cared for from the beginning of our treatment there, and this is really really important when going through the emotionally and physically taxing journey that is infertility. Thank you, Originelle!!

They see you as a $ sign. I have been monitoring patient at this clinic for about a year and when I asked for re-fill prescription they didn't send it and when I called they mentioned the cost was for summer and I have to pay 3000$ instead of 1800$ now. Also there is no written cost breakdown that they can give you, simply they said that the accountant is on trip and this is what is it! Dr. Tan seems to be professional but the only thing he cares is his pocket not the patient. So be careful about unpredicted thing if you want to deal with this center!
