The hotel is dirty, falling apart and probably not even up to code compliance. The manager is robbing people, tina harper is her name. Falsely charging people for smoking when they were not. Then refuses to give managers name and number to file a complaint on her.

Dawn at front desk delivered exceptional customer service during our stay. Hotel was clean with great breakfast options just not any gluten free/dairy free options for my husband however, recommendations were noted when I shared suggestions after inquiring about morning options. We will stay again in the future.

When we arrived at approximately 2200 me and my kids were tired and had an event to be at early the next morning. The front desk clerk who checked us in had been sitting in the room where breakfast is served having a beer with another person. She was slurring her words telling me what they serve for breakfast in the morning. They couldn't find the luggage carts (2) and she did try to locate them but couldn't find any. She was nice but I think tipsy. We got up to the room and the floors looked like they hadn't been swept in weeks. I noticed a dead roach among the floor debris. There was a poor attempt to update the room like a bad paint job, poor repair jobs on the walls and around the bathroom. The beds were so sad and hard. The comforter had spots on it as if it was melted, upon closer inspection the fabric was disintegrated, like you could see through it. I was so tired and the kids had just fallen on beds and right to sleep so I just booked a room at another hotel and decided to leave in the morning. I am a light sleeper anyway so I finally laid down but couldn't sleep due to high winds in the area that were blowing through my window and sounded like a plane flying by. I did record this so no one will think I was being dramatic about it. The cold wind was also coming into the heating and air unit under the window. The toilet also kept sounding like it was flushing and I went to see. I guess when other guests were flushing it sounded like mine was also flushing. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep for maybe a couple of hours. When I went to check out in the morning a woman who had on some black scrubs went to the computer and the other clerk with a labeled polo stood by. I assumed the lady in scrubs was a house keeper and was clocking out, the other woman asked if I was checking out and if I needed a receipt and I said yes. I told her I was canceling my second night and she went to the printer and gave me my receipt and they both just went about their day. I was so upset and tired I did not confront them about the issues they didn't seem like they were very worried anyway that I was canceling my second night. For spending $130 + I expect a lot better quality of room. Hope this helps someone else to not have the same experience we did. I am not sure how this hotel has the rating it does.

I was given a lesser room than reserved. Tina did her best to make the room as comfortable as possible. Thanks! There were no toiletries in the bathroom and the toilet ran all night. We experienced a couple of power outages that were quickly resolved by staff. The breakfast was hot and satisfying.

Paid cash for 2 nights checked out after first night , It was told by The staff that I could not get my money back for the night that I did not stay because we were in a small town it went to a bank and they had no access to it that I paid cash next time to use a credit card. So I was penalized a $120 for using cash.

The beds are rock hard. No decent sleep here. Toilets are small child height. If you are tall or have trouble getting up or down, don’t stay here! I am 4’11 and had trouble getting down fast enough. 🤨

Front desk was Amazing I believe her name was Jenna. I want to start by saying she made they stay at this hotel worth it. There was so many things to complain about and she made and "ok" stay to a great stay. Definitely went above and beyond for us.

Room was decent, although furniture was quite chipped/broken. Lobby bathrooms were kind of clean. Lots of mismatched paint. On our attempt to leave, the batteries died in the card reader leaving us stranded in the lobby until their maintenance person showed up. I guess we accomplished our goal...it wasn't pretty or super clean, but it was a roof and a bed. I've stayed in worse.

First I want to say the girl that checked us in was friendly and did a great job. The room wasn’t very clean. There was black stuff on the mirror and tub and some kind of crunchy, dried caramel substance on the floor under the desk chair. Housekeeping clearly had not moved things to clean. Finally, breakfast was disappointing. I don’t expect an amazing breakfast for free, but the juice was mostly water and the eggs were watery and grainy.

It's a decent hotel. The elevator is very slow. The hotel does not have good sound proofing so you will hear your upstairs neighbors. The wifi is scarce in some rooms. My room didn't have any towels. It's about average for a la quinta.

My stay/room was wonderful! My husband had a heart attack earlier in the day, I called around 1am and Silver booked me a room. Silver was amazing to help me in my time of need. Tina, Silver, and entire staff were very kind and supportive. I cannot thank them enough. I will be back through Brownwood and will definitely stay again. Thank you for all your prayers and support!

I had to score down because although the room was clean and smelled fresh the carpet was slick and the tile was sticky-as if too much cleaner was in the mop pail. I just didn't want to be in my bare feet on those floors. Breakfast was okay. The attendant was very responsive however and fixed more sausage and eggs for my spouse when the containers were empty even though there were only 15 minutes left on the buffet schedule. Vegetarian options yogurt, biscuits, waffles, fruit, cereal, instant oatmeal. When we checked in 1 of the front desk personnel was very helpful and knowledgeable. Very handy location and I felt our vehicle was safe in the parking area.

I have stayed at numerous hotels across the country for many many years and I have had my share a bad experiences. I will have to say that my stay at the La Quinta inn & suites in Brownwood Texas would be top of the list of bad experiences. To start with no one was hardly ever at the front desk. I had to pick up the guest phone and call in order to get somebody to the front desk to assist. Secondly the elevator is in desperate need of renovation. Almost every time I would get in the elevator the people coming out would tell me to take the elevator at my own risk and that it was a "death trap". When the elevator moved it shook and it clanked and it seemed like it was going to fall at any minute. Lastly breakfast was a disaster. There was hardly any seating available and when I went to get breakfast in the morning it was all gone. Every bit of it was gone and stayed gone for quite a while. I'm sure they had to cook up a new batch but it took so long that I just got some juice and left. This particular hotel is one of the more expensive hotels in the city and I certainly didn't even come close to getting my money's worth. I would highly recommend that a lot of things get cleaned up as soon as possible before more customers are lost (like myself)

Stayed for two weeks on a work trip mist days were good silver always had breakfast ready and dining area clean however on 11/30/2023 the person working does not have breakfast ready and it’s well after six. When I was filling my coffee cup she accused me of breaking HER cofffee machine which was a wild accusation and very rude first thing in the morning!!!!

Rooms were clean. We had issues with our key card throughout our 4 day stay but most of the staff we encountered went above and beyond to help us resolve the issue. Silver at the front desk and Sarah with housekeeping were awesome, very friendly, and super helpful. Eric with maintenance was also very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Overall for the price a decent place to stay on a budget that allows pets.

Amazing.! Friendly.! Caring.! The staff make you feel like you're at home.! Made some lifelong friends there (housekeeping ladies). Jokesters.! Tina (the general manager) does her ABSOLUTE best to try and keep all problems contained to the lobby, and has a quick response time when people need things in their rooms fixed, she'll send up David (maintenance man).

This hotel is just barely passable to stay at if there is nothing else. The lobby and dining area are dirty, the rooms are just clean enough to be willing to leave your stuff. The gym was pretty good. The biggest issue is the smell in the mornings. The breakfast they cook smells foul. The elevator is super sketchy.

This has been the worst stay at a hotel I have had in quite some time. I usually stay with a competitor, but thought I would give these guys a shot. NEVER AGAIN. I needed assistance from the front desk on 4 occasions. 3 times out took over 15 minutes for someone to appear. The 4th time there was a line 5 deep and took over 30 minutes to get help. There seemed to be a distinct lack of desire to help. On top of that, there was no elevator service. Not fun having to haul everything up stairs. Like I said, never again

Good breakfast and friendly staff was satisfied with my stay. My only complaint was they had no shampoo only conditioner and body wash. Other than that everything was great. Had a good stay on my visit to brown wood texas

When I came back here in 2019 for my graduation party it was the best. I had a clean pool to swim in, delicious waffles in the morning and a better variety, a faster time on waiting on the elevator (I had to wt 4 min) . It turned out to be nothing like this last weekend the 23rd through 25th. The bathroom tub this time had a metal stopper that was on side of tub and I had to screw it in myself one way to make it work. My 2 day visit this weekend was ok but I should of stayed somewhere else. For breakfast there was no access to waffle mix for the waffle maker and the sausages were cold even though I got there at 6:55am and you open breakfast at 7am. The pool was terrible, I feel disgusted that I swallowed some of the water by accident. It had algae spots all in the water when I got in but u can't tell unless u get in and look closely at the water. It has a slight greenish/yellowish tint by appearance . It needs a very good shock. I'm very disappointed. I wanted my 21st get way vacation to be better but here's Brownwood for you. I checked the letter with compliance right by the elevator doors on the 1st floor. With whoever that inspects this hotel this coming up inspection, it needs it way sooner then November 17th 2022. Thank you.

The swimming pool was absolutely horrific. You couldn’t see the bottom of the pool. Has not been maintained in quite some time. The outside area has cigarette butts and beer bottles everywhere. The floor in the elevator is messed up. The employees are very nice but this hotel needs a big ol cleaning!

Although the manager was nice, there was no one at the desk at check in. Had to go outside, call the 800# and wait the extra 10 minutes until 3pm to get our key. The room had a strong smell of cat urine and hair on the bed which sent my allergies into a rage. It was just dirty all around. Table was sticky, fridge-freezer was frozen over and smelled like old bologna. The temp control did not work. It was noisy by the elevators and loud in the hallway. At the pet area, a broken chair, cigarette butts, empty beer bottles and a heavy poop smell in the heat. It's a hotel but sure not what Laquinta used to be. Disappointed.

Last night (09/02/2022) arrived about 10:30 pm get to the room only had one bath towel and bath mat. Got back to the room next day about 10:00 pm after spending the day with family and they had not touched the room had to go down to desk for towels. Not only that the fan in the bathroom didn't work and the mirror kept fogging over and they had taken the mirror off the wall. The floor in front of the door got slippery because it sweated because of the shower. The light didn't work when you came in the room. The coffee pot still had a used coffee thing still in it from the previous people. There wasn't any toiletries in the room and they didn't have everything they have had before. Every time we have stayed here we have had a problem. The only reason we came back was to use our Wyndham rewards and this is the only hotel in Brownwood that accepts them. We will not be back.

We stayed here when moving from Las Vegas to Texas, we were exhausted when we got here. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating, and they let our pets stay too! The room was very nice, the shower was amazing. My only complaint was that the hallway on the third floor was at least 85° and pretty uncomfortable. Otherwise though everything was great. Would definitely stay here again.

Desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was perfect. Bed sheets and covers are warm and so comfy. Most hotels have thin top covers but La Quinta provides a nice thick and soft top cover. Mattress is always soft and comfortable. I would highly recommend while visiting the area.

Stayed there in April 2022 – Nice room, comfy beds, quiet, nice gym, good free continental breakfast, Wall-Mart close by, several places to eat nearby. Stay was great - I will definitely stay there if I’m in that area again. The only problem was the handicap automatic front door was not opening so you had to hold the front door open while trying to push the luggage cart through and there seemed to be only one luggage cart available. Maybe later they'll install automatic/self-opening doors.

Stayed there for 2 nights and they were the worst days/nights ever! We arrived at the hotel and received our room key we waited over 10 minutes for the elevator to finally open. (We would have taken the stairs but we had the cart full of luggage.) We had booked a king size bedroom with a sofa pull out couch. We went inside and it was the most disgusting room ever!! The comforter had what seemed like urine stains. The couch was gross I didn’t let my kids lay on that thing. I asked for sheets to cover it up and the sheets brought up were probably worse than the couch itself. They had rips and stains everywhere. Terrible job of trying to update the room bad painting, seems they tried to fix a ceiling repair which was horrific! Our Tv, refrigerator, and phone didn’t work!!!! I let my kids get in the pool once which I instantly regretted it. You could not see the bottom of the pool it was cloudy water. The pool area was filthy!! Breakfast that morning was horrible, nothing was available. The lady making breakfast was also the front desk lady. They literally only had cereal with no milk. She seemed to be hiding in the room and not wanting to come out. Which leads me to the front desk there was never anyone there available. No one to greet you when you walked in. All in all terrible this hotel not deserving of a 4.2 rating

Stayed two nights during the process of selling our home. The bathroom had been spackled, but not painted...looked tacky. There were so many vendors it was difficult to find parking. The hallway was cluttered with new basins, which could be a hazard in an emergency. Had to get my key card reprogrammed twice. Not a huge issue, but was inconvenient. The staff was friendly and hard working.

This is a hotel in the middle of the middle of nowhere. It was the cleanest looking one on hotel row, I was glad I went inside. I was greeted by Tina the manager, who went out her way to make me feel the personal touch. I would stay here 10-10 times im in brownwood Texas lol

1st room given was dirty, dirty towels still on bathroom counter and the bed turned down. 2nd room, toilet seat was hanging off. Got maid from hall to ask about it. She stated she had just cleaned this room. Haha that was a joke. Dirt and hair everywhere. Way overpriced and not clean at all what a joke.

Their employees made us feel very comfortable. Rooms are clean, prices are fair and service was good. Enjoyed the stay.

  • 3/5 AJ R. 2 years ago on Google
Well, beds were ok, tv was kind of small for a place like this - 32 inch. The bathroom was very beat up. Several patches in the walls and a poor patch job on the door. And there was a roach that said good morning in the shower. For the price it should have been way better. The Wi-Fi was fast.

The hotel is pet friendly with a catch! The room smells like straight up pee! Like for real? Don’t you think the carpets need to be deep cleaned like every once in awhile? This room is disgusting. Also there’s a major leak in the restroom from the floor above us.
