WARNING - DO NOT GO to this restaurant!!! The staff is arrogant, rude, and inappropriate thieves. Food is sub-par, location could be nice. Beware!! They will overcharge you - OR double charge you. We were forced to pay for things we didn’t order (so was the table of tourists next to us). Then the waiter ran my husband’s credit card, said it “didn’t go through”. So we believed him & paid for the check on my credit card, got a receipt & later we find out they charged us €122.50 twice. The next day we went back to ask them to reverse the duplicate charge and they were even more rude to us. There was no manager, or owner present and supposedly no one in charge that knew how to handle a credit card refund. They would not give us the owner’s nor manager’s name and wanted to see the second receipt for the duplicate charge! We were not given a receipt because the waiter claimed “it did not go through” - which it obviously did. BEWARE do not go to this restaurant!!!

DO NOT EAT HERE!! Disgusting, unsafe. This restaurant should be shut down. The Head Chef had his fingers in his mouth and was picking his teeth with his fingernail, then handling people’s food with his bare hands. Then another chef kept touching his face and hair before touching people’s food, then DRANK SOUP FROM A CUSTOMERS BOWL before the server picked it up to serve. He did this right in front of us like it was no big deal. Literally put his lips on the bowl, drank their soup, then served it to the customer. He looked right at me, then went about prepping more food. We told a server and the Head Chef about it, they got into an argument and the guy said it wasn’t being served to a customer, but it was. The head chef said he didn’t see it but he would check the cameras…..yes, the same guy that was preparing food after having his fingers in his own mouth. They didn’t care. The staff are rude, do not smile, we were very unwelcome. The food was not great, WAY OVERPRICED.

Avoid. Nicely located but that's all. Food is barely ok. Everything you ask for is extra. We asked for a bit of ketchup during the meal and they added 1,5€ to the bill without mentioning it. When we asked why, they started to be very unpleasant and rude, claiming that it was written on the menu. We did not have the menu in front of us at this time so they should have let us know (from their perspective, we should have read and remembered that "cold sauce +1,5€" applied to ketchup too). Same for the water, they asked what we want, we said sill water. They came back with 2 tiny bottles of 20cl which surprised us first but we thought that's all they had. Later on we realized they had plenty of other cheaper options but did not offer them beforehand. Overall, don't go. They will claim you are a tourist and this is how things work here as well as the rest of the world (which is actually false as it did not occur in any other restaurant during our stay).

The waiters were quite rude and dismissive when we wanted attention. The food was fine and the service was reasonably quick though. Quite surprised to see a €3 additional charge on our bill since we'd decided to split the mussels. Apparently that's an admin type fee for the unbelievable effort that goes towards providing a second set cutlery... I can only recommend trying somewhere else

If only there were an option for zero stars. This place is in a beautiful setting and draws you in, but once seated you realise how awful it is. The owner is the rudest man I’ve seen running a restaurant, the staff look frightened of him and permanently stressed, and his attitude to customers is vile. He’s clearly taken several wrong turns in life and hates every part of his existence. Avoid at all costs, it will sap the joy from you within 5 minutes of arrival.

Stopped at the great location for a few drinks with my elderly parents. The staff were unbelievably rude and obnoxious! We tried a few times to interact and rise above it with two different members of the bar / restaurant staff however they just got worse, escalated their disapproval of us wishing to spend money in their restaurant. Assume the only reason they are still in business is the location with passing trade.

Nice view of the canal. We only had drinks. Food did not look appealing. Their traditional beer Uilenspiegel is tasty and served in an elegant glass. Drinks arrived quickly. We also asked water for our puppy as it was a hot day. The waiter came back with a small ashtray filled with water. The center of the ashtray stuck out meaning it was impossible for a dog to drink. We asked to replace it but our request was ignored. There are better places in town, where dogs and their owners are welcome.

I wish I read the reviews before we went there! We were waiting for 1.5 hours to receive our food. After an hour waiting the waiter asked us if we were asking for the bill...We haven't even eaten! The location is nice at least and the cocktails are good. The food was okay, but wasn't worth the 1.5 hours waiting.

Food is fine. Service is rude and not nice. Pushing to take 2 drinks and 2 plates for two person even if we wanted to share one plate and after take other plate or deserts. You can find place much better.

In summary it was okay, but nothing special and way too expensive. The waiter was friendly and service was quick. I would recommend the owner/chef to make the toasties with a high quality cheddar/cheese instead of the cheap one that you have to scratch out of the plastic foil (Especially for the price of 17€)

We was here few minutes ago, the view attracted us. The food quality doesn't deserve the price! "La moule" was not tasty and was so smelly!!! I wasn't satisfied so i didn't want to leave tips!! The waiter insisted to get !! For me thus was rude! I definitely don't recommend this place!!

Extremely rude! We booked rooms for seven people but when we arrived the owner of the place told us the rooms were already booked. However, when we arrived we were told that we could check-in around 15:00 so even if the rooms were double booked, we arrived first. The owner told us not to worry but did not help us find a fitting solution to a problem they created. The owner wanted to send us to a cheap and very ugly hotel and when we told him this wasn't ok, he got very annoyed and rude towards me and my mother. We were only staying for a day so we lost a lot of time at this horrible place. When you are going to Brugge (which is beautiful), stay as far away as possible from this terrible place! Side note: Looking at these other reviews, they also seem to find a way to blame it on others. In our case a girl was to blame who they supposedly fired. Maybe the owner should take a very critical look in the mirror and change some things around there.

Relaxed service, bit of staff drama concerning the lovely dog and a large plate of delicious salad with house beer made for a lovely evening. Dined in rather than out which was quiet. Outside tables are canal side and thus very popular.

We didn't stay at the hotel as we had already booked an air b+b. We enjoyed the atmosphere and a couple of drinks before heading back to our b+b. Went back the next morning for our breakfast 😋 would definitely recommend as this hotel is closer to the centre of Bruges.

We had an outstanding experience here for dinner!! Sunday night, 7pm, the staff was on point! Heaters on by request, we started on the canal, moved to the wall for heat and the staff was great. Dinner had the tapas hot (enormous), mussels, tomato soup, was enough food for 4 people! The beer was delish! Dessert plate was amazing! And staff was attentive!

Avoid this awful place at all costs. We have just returned from a night away and experienced a multitude of problems with this 'hotel'. We arrived about half an hour before the 3pm check in so didn't see the two rooms we had booked before going out. We got a call at 5pm saying one room had a leak and it was unlikely we could stay there but they ensured us they'd sort and pay for alternative accommodation. We had dinner then went to the hotel to put our bags in the room. A young man abruptly and unapologetically said we definitely had no room and only one was available. He mentioned another hotel and alluded to the fact they would sort it. He said they're open 24/7 so we didn't think we had anything to be particularly worried about. When we arrived back there after a fun night out just after midnight the place was locked up. Nobody was around to help. Eventually two guys came down to the bar and claimed to know nothing about the alternative accommodation we were promised. Our friends even offered that all four of us sleep in their bed. The staff eventually got through to the manager/owner on the phone who was so unbelievably rude to me I was in shock. He said he'd been waiting to take us to the other hotel but we were 'late back' so he wasn't taking us or paying for transportation. When I said we had nowhere else to go he actually said he didn't care. At this point we were outside trying to get a taxi. It was minus 2 degrees. We were really upset and absolutely frozen. The staff had disappeared and weren't answering the door or our calls for help. We had to eventually call the police. They advised we get to another hotel and sort it out afterwards. We then paid 40 euros to get to a hotel 25 minutes away. We then had to pay the same to return the next morning. What was meant to be a fun trip booked back in April this year turned into a nightmare. And none of it was our fault. We were ill and cold and very upset to have been treated so badly. The friends who stayed in the room there said it was disgusting. The shower was full of mould with hardly any water, the room was dirty and it was noisy all through the night with rude, uncaring staff not in the least bit bothered about their guests. We are regular visitors to Bruges and experienced travellers but have never encountered anybody so rude or anything so ridiculous. This place should not offer accommodation and the boss should not be allowed to have customers at all. According to our taxi driver (who encouraged us to call the police) this wasn't the first time something like this had happened there. Absolutely disgraceful, really disappointing and something I hope nobody else has to ever experience. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Big tourist trap; overpriced and arrogant. Asking for tips even if the service is horrible. Go for a walk around and enjoy another bar! Review written by a local

Bit confused why there's so many negative reviews. We had a lovely time here. The waiters were polite and one even made a joke with us. Perhaps there could be a slight culture difference which is why there seems to be so many misunderstandings. Food was great presentation top notch.

The food and drinks were truly amazing. Everything tasted fresh and with great flavour. Service from Gabriel (hope I have spelled that correctly) was absolutely perfect and I hope you get him as your waiter as he’s very funny and unbelievably helpful. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

As we walked passed, a member of staff was very pushy trying to get us to eat there. We did look at the restaurant next to it but decided to return. Service was slow, very slow and the menu standard. I was recommended the most expensive beer on the menu. They got a starter wrong. Food was tasty. At the end had to wait again for the bill. When the bill arrived we were asked if we wanted to add service!!! First time that had happened in Bruge!!! We declined. On leaving the restaurant we were again approached by the same member of staff asking us to eat at the there. Overall not a great experience.

I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was okay but expensive, but the main problem was the service. We felt very rushed from the moment we sat down. They brought us the wrong dishes and the waiters were fighting about who's fault it was in front of our table. In general the waiters were very rude and the atmosphere was tense. At one point they were even thowing menu's through the room, very unprofessional. It really is a shame, because again, the food was pretty good, but because of the service we wanted to leave as soon as possible.

This place is a tourist trap and to be avoided, I wish I had checked the reviews first. I paid 22.50 euros for a beer, an americano and a warm wine. I am pretty sure they did a mistake in the bill as I am adding up everything and I can't reach that amount but I was in a hurry and realised this only later. Completely unacceptable.

Don't eat here! You'll regret it! After a lovely warm entrance, nestled next to the river, you'll see a nice bar leading to a dated restaurant. The menu had a good choice and variety and good kids portions. The waiter was far too informal, asking questions about my wife's age and even showing her how to eat mussles, by taking one from her plate, dipping it in sauce and then placing it in her mouth. I was completely dumbstruck with this! The food was average, we found a hair in our mussles, the Vol au Vant was tasteless and the children's food was overcooked. We spent over £110 for the four of us. Give it a miss!

We didn’t say here only had dinner. Kids had spaghetti which they enjoyed. I had the Flemish stew and my partner the vol au vent. The stew for very good, the vol au vent was unfortunately cold. Prices weren’t too steep. Staff were polite although not particularly friendly.

Sitting by the canal is really the only reason to eat here. Slow, inattentive service, had to ask for multiple things 2 or 3 times. Mussels are gritty and disappointing, many dead / unopened ones that they didn't bother to remove, also made with super bizarre ingredients like bean sprouts (eg the Asian kind). Beef stew was better. At least it wasn't horrifically overpriced.

The set meal for 25E approx is fantastic. A great canal side setting and attentive helpful staff make great service look easy. Courgette soup great, Beef stew or Modules both lovely and tasty local sweet to finish. Outside dining heated.

Staff very friendly. Food looked delicious. Steak was slightly undercooked, but amazing, and the pasta dishes were huge so couldn't eat it all and actually the portion size was quite off putting. Sadly had better meals during our stay at much cheaper restaurants. Little bit disappointed.

Don't ever consider staying here. The bathroom is mouldy. It's not clean. Shower doesn't work. Staff are extremely rude. The owner/manager was so rude that the police had to get involved.

Surprised to find ribs this tasty in Bruges. Excellent, friendly service. Great portions and very flavorful. One of the better meals we had that week. Surprised to see all of the negative connects about service. Our waiter was excellent, very friendly, professional, and responsive.
