Every major city in Belgium has kept some part of old Begijnhof community buildings. They are attractive because it provides you a glimpse of not just a building but of a local community of that time. I have seen many Begijnhof already in Belgium. This I believe is the most well managed one. It's possibly because they have good funding from the influx of tourist. Would highly recommend visiting here.

Very nice place it has a lot of history hidden there. The atmosphere is nice and you can feel safe. It is better to go with a local guide to hear the explanations. In there there is a small shop with very nice things you can buy an it is not so expensive. Totally recommended to understand why the name of the city in Spanish is so different as it is in other languages.

This is a place where you can breathe history, see the small buildings where the beguines lived. Visitors must be silent. You can enjoy the pleasant walks. There's a small church and worth a visit.

Not much to do here exactly, but it was probably the most picturesque place I visited in Brugge. It was a bit more low-key than the other massive cathedrals etc, but I really liked just walking through the courtyard and quietly viewing the less ostentatious church.

Beautiful place in Bruge. There were quite a lot of tours taking place when we visited, and it was quite busy. We saw one nun while here, but respected their privacy and did not take photos. In all, a nice serene visit.

Really pretty inner garden that withstood the passing of times. There were practicing old nuns in the small church which were really friendly and some were startled by our dog. Our dog was welcome on the leash, but don't let him do his business in the garden out of respect. It also has a small lithurgical shop with statues, pendants, bibles and etc.

Beautiful and quiet. It's a very old convent with gorgeous buildings and a tranquil garden. Surrounded with a little park and canals, it's very beautiful. Great stop for a quiet break or little stroll.

Beguinage of Bruges is one of the most enchanting and serene places in the city. In the 13th century, it was established for the beguines, a semi-monastic community of women. A must see on your list of things to do in Bruges.

Very peaceful and quiet place. I felt calm and humble while walking inside this little village. Also liked the idea of helping women in need but no means back in the day.

  • 5/5 Suzanne D. 1 year ago on Google
Small beautiful convent garden and church. Beautiful! There is no charge to enter the beautiful church. Stepping inside the dry church was a welcome change from the cold January rain outside!

  • 5/5 Todor M. 1 year ago on Google
It is right in the city's center. A quiet place with similar houses in a closed circle, all of them white with greenish windows and doors. All of the doors are different from each other which amazed me. There is a nice small park inside with the same type of trees planted in rows. You will find a church with an old fashioned interior where you can have a rest for a minute or two. Overall it is a unique place worth visiting if you are passing by Bruges. Next to it there are some beautiful canals with swans swimming in them.

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Bruges — a must see. I highly recommend stopping by ESPECIALLY if you are visiting in late March / early April because there are tons of daffodils that bloom in the green spaces between the walkways.

Oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of busy Brugge. There is a big Christian items shop near the entrance. Visitors must keep silence.

Beautiful place, with less tourists than the other parts of the town. Definitely worth a visit!

  • 5/5 Sheila O. 1 year ago on Google
Never heard of Beguinages before but it was interesting to know about these women who were persected as Witches because of a Pope's Jealousy. Apparently Churchill used to paint here after the Wprld War and he is the reason Brugges is now such a tourist city.

One of the most striking looking places in Bruges. Granted there's little to do other than to walk around the grounds and stare at whitewashed houses, but the complex of white buildings has a striking collection of tall trees that are especially memorable during the fall.

(Translated by Google) Recognized as a beguinage in 1275, in fact, it has housed young women since 1225 in the so-called "Vineyard". Today, this beguinage is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A place of peace and harmony, an enclave of greenery surrounded by the humble homes of the beguines. Memory of the time of the Crusades, where women could not find a husband, devoted themselves to religion and mutual aid.
