Claiming
to
be
the
best
fish
and
chips
in
Manggis
Satu,
Brunei,
which
we
think
was
a
joke.
(Read
till
the
end)
We
are
going
to
visit
again,
as
we
were
distracted
enough
to
not
take
pictures.
The
place
is
easy
enough
to
find
with
the
directions
and
Waze,
we
were
greeted
warmly
by
a
happy
girl
and
a
guy
who
sports
a
wet
hair
look
form
the
80s.
We
were
seated
but
decided
to
be
difficult
and
asked
to
seat
elsewhere
and
was
obliged.
We
scanned
the
QR
Code,
the
menu
was
simple
and
direct.
Its
a
fish
&
chip
shop,
just
like
in
the
UK,
simple
menu.
We
ordered
our
Fish
&
Chips,
Mushy
Peas,
&
Curry
Sauce,
we
ordered
a
Deep
Fried
Snickers
Bar,
as
they
ran
out
of
Mars
Bars,
this
was
confirmed
as
we
went
everywhere
to
look
for
Mars
Bars.
More
customers
came
and
was
again
greeted
happily
(genuine)
Took
about
15
mins,
but
our
drinks
came
earlier,
the
Ice
Lemon
Tea,
was
home
made
ICE
COLD
LEMON
TEA!
You
know
its
not
instant
tea,
and
its
definitely
made
from
real
lemons!
SUPER
GOOD
on
a
hot
day!
They
charged
for
ice,
for
soft
drinks
but
I
guess
its
fair,
my
friends'
coke
was
ice
cold
anyway
without
ice.
The
Fish
and
Chips
Came
on
White
Dinner
Plates
and
Mushy
Peas
and
Curry
Sauce
came
in
a
Ramekin.
ITS
HUGE
for
the
price!
(GREAT
VALUE)
Our
seat
was
not
in
direct
view
and
we
took
out
our
portable
weighing
scale
and
weigh
the
Atlantic
Cod,
they
claimed
its
about
200g.
It
was
220g!
We
also
asked
for
extra
chips,
and
our
plate
was
LOADED.
The
Haddock
was
188g,
the
Halibut
was
190g.
These
guys
are
serious.
We
have
nearly
a
half
kilo
of
food
on
our
plates.
The
Fish
and
Chips
was
served
with
Tartar
Sauce,
(Lemon
was
chargeable),
with
Malt
Vinegar
and
Salt
on
the
table.
The
Tartar
Sauce
was
refillable.
That
Tartar
Sauce,
words
can't
describe,
it
is
definitely
home
made
and
definitely
restaurant
quality!
TRULY
SUPERB!
I
am
ashamed
to
say,
I
even
used
it
as
a
dip
for
my
Chips.
The
Chips
are
fresh,
and
definitely
not
store
bought,
like
they
claimed,
produced
daily.
Beautiful,
albeit
I
guess
with
the
hot
weather,
a
bit
sweeter,
but
delicious.
(note
:
potatoes
are
sugar
machines!)
The
Batter
for
the
Fish
&
Chips..we
all
requested
thin
batter,
and
it
was
again
superb,
encasing
the
fish,
it
was
a
tad
bit
oily
underneath
but
it
was
normal
for
hot
fried
items,
definitely
fresh
from
the
fryer.
The
batter
encased
the
fish
perfectly,
and
have
a
satisfying
crunch
when
cut,
revealing
white
steaming
flaky
fish.
Memories
of
the
fish
and
chips,
we
had
all
over
the
UK,
from
corner
shops
to
pubs
and
even
posh
fish
and
chips
restaurants.
The
fish
was
EXCELLENT,
someone
definitely
knows
fish
and
chips
here.
Most
places
in
Brunei
have
limited
types
of
fish
or
serves
Dory
(Pangasius)
or
uses
thin
fillets.
The
fishes
are
of
course
$20+
each
but,
after
calculation,
it
was
CHEAPER
compared
to
another
fish
and
chips
place.
Other
places
makes
the
fish
looks
big,
they
used
a
thin
fillet
of
fish,
not
even
thick
enough
to
see
the
flakiness
of
the
fish)
(We
ordered
a
small
(they
said
100g)
for
take
away,
and
was
surprised
it
was
also
a
thick
fillet,
and
absolutely
delicious,
even
after
an
hour
plus)
The
Mushy
Peas
are
genuine
Mushy
Peas,
like
in
the
UK,
you
can't
fake
that
(Not
some
mashed
up
garden
peas),
and
the
curry
sauce
is
very
Northern
Style
of
Curry
Sauce,
but
we
wished
it
was
a
bit
more
spicy,
but
it
is
a
definitely
UK
Style
Fish
&
Chips
Curry
Sauce.
The
Deep
Fried
Snickers,
was..definitely
deep
fried
snickers!
IT
WAS
GOOD!
After
our
meal,
we
went
off
to
the
beach,
to
enjoy
and
share
our
takeaway,
and
discuss
our
findings,
definitely
Fez
&
Cip,
is
NOT
PROBABLY
just
the
best
Fish
&
Chips,
in
Manggis
Satu,
but
definitely
THE
BEST
FISH
&
CHIPS
IN
BRUNEI.
Would
definitely
beat
Singapore
&
Genting!
We
came
to
check
their
claims,
but
found
they
are
GENUINELY
the
best
fish
and
chips
in
Brunei.
We
are
HUMBLED.
