Ponta Oeste Community The village of Ponta Oeste, which became the largest on Ilha do Mel around 15 years ago, is currently home to twelve families who sporadically use the place as a fishing spot. From 1980 onwards, residents of Ponta Oeste gradually abandoned the region. The majority transferred their residence to Paranaguá or to other towns on the Island (mainly Nova Brasília). The people who remain in the area are mostly families of former fishermen who still have their homes in this area. The region of Ponta Oeste is directly limited to the Ecological Station area, and there is currently no evident human pressure coming from the potential inhabitants of the old village, however, limitations on the future construction of new houses (mainly by outsiders) must be imposed , aiming to guarantee the effective protection of this Conservation Unit. An isolated beach, even without electricity, on Ilha do Mel! There you will find locals who make a living from selling oysters and you can taste some, as well as take beautiful photos and see the slipper trees! You have to go by boat!!

Wonderful to go with young children. The sea looks like a small swimming pool, with calm, warm water.

There is more sea water in this region than in other regions of the island, which is a very positive point. NO WAVES, very calm sea and with several tourists in the region and medium-sized boats. It is a region known for oyster farming, where there are few actual residents. There is a kiosk that sells oyster gratin. The strip of sand is a little dirty, just like the beach at Enchanted Beach. Overall, it's very pleasant, I really enjoyed bathing in the sea in this part of the island.

Without a doubt, this is my favorite beach on the Island. There are no waves, the sea is calm and crystal clear, great for children. There is a small caicara community that sells fresh oysters. A paradisiacal place. Next time I want to stay on this side of the island... it's very deserted and brings unparalleled peace.

The place is incredibly peaceful, the beach is easily accessible. There are few traders who work selling drinks and snacks on busy days.
