The fish and squid rings were fresh and delicious. Squid rings are definitely a must try here. It is uniquely prepared. It comes with squid ink sauce which is amazing. The amount of potato on side was good and huge in portion. The lime and mint lemonade was super refreshing. The location of this place is very convenient. It is centrally located.

If you want fresh fish, this is the place to go in Brussels. They rely on daily catches, and you can tell as much. The batter wasn't the most flavorsome, though the sauces were good. We were served by 3 people, two of whom were brilliant, while the 3rd was a little impatient while taking our order, which for a touristy part of town is a little uncalled for. All in all, the meal was good, would recommend.

Good place to eat. Fresh fish, fresh potatoes and homemade sauces. Great tastes. Very good portions. If you are craving fried food but want to support a better brand, this is your spot.

I had the special, which was Taiwanese style. It was great. The spicy mayo served it with was a delight too. The seasonal side salad was maybe my favourite thing on the table. Simply delicious, but it is tomato season. The lemon and basil, I think, with cod, was great too. The sauce needs a bit more truffle in it though! The squid rings with ink sauce were good too. My partner found the sauce a bit too acidic, but I loved it. I also had their hibiscus ice tea, reminiscent of Jamaica. Great drink, not too sweet. If you're going for lunch, I would probably share. This ended up being more food than we really needed. Brings it down from 20ish each to 10 each! And it'll be enough for lunch, I assure you.

Best fish and chips I've ever had. I had whitting with rosemary and thyme and there was no choice to combine the fishes with spices and sauces. Although the fish was not very big, it was a satisfying portion with potatoes. However, the price should be cheaper.

Price performance ratio was a bit off. The fish was tasty however my portion and husband's varied greatly. I felt that the potato wedges were cooked in older oil. Mushy peas tasted great as well as the curry fish.

Affordable and great fish'n chips spot right in the middle of town. They have 5 to 6 different options for fish and chips, each comes with each own specific sauce and maybe also batter and chips style. The nice thing is that they only serve fresh fish, so you could go a different time and be served another kind of fish, depending what was bought that day in the season. They now have also other options for people that don't want to eat fish, or might want it burger-style.

Coalfish in rosemary and thyme was the best fish I've ever tried (and i don't even like fish). Fries were amazing, little on the salty side and the roasted garlic sauce was a hit! Staff was very friendly and the place itself felt cozy. Types of fish change daily so you could be surprised. If you like fish it's definitely place worth visiting!

I had a wonderful time indulging in their Fish and Chips. The establishment had a pleasant ambiance, and the staff members were exceptionally friendly. Opting to sit outside allowed us to bask in the fantastic atmosphere. For our main course selections, we went with the Lemon & Basil Tempura and the Special Catch of the Day Fish. Served alongside homemade sauces and delectable fries, both dishes were an absolute delight. The fish was notably fresh and had a delightful flakiness that made it a must-try. We savored some refreshing beers, particularly recommending the Jambe de Bois. It's worth mentioning that the place tends to draw a crowd. If you're on the lookout for a top-notch fish and chips experience, this establishment provides a cozy ambiance, welcoming service, and flavorful dishes. Highly recommended!

Have been visiting Bia Mara (Brussels) since many years now and everytime the food is great & service it excellent. At times it is difficult to get a table due to long queues but that speaks for the quality as well. If you are fan of fish & chips this is one the fine spots you should check.

Very nice fish and ships. The crust is perfectly crispy but thin and the fish moist. Just wish they had some regular mayo to go with the fries. Also highly recommend getting the shrimp nibbles. They’re sunny tasty.

Seriously, where have you people eaten fish and chips b4 to give this place 5 stars?? It's by far the most bland fish and chips I have EVER tried. How do you manage to make fried potatoes bland?? The chef deserves a award on poor seasoning cuisine skills. And honestly, €15 for potatoes and a 100g piece of fish is nothing but a ripoff Giving 2 stars because my server Kita was sweet and the lime mint lemonade was delicious but that's pretty much it. Won't come back nor recommend

Bia Mara offers the best fish n' chips in Belgium, in my opinion. The classic is a bit on the salty side for my taste, but overall it's a lovely place to enjoy good fish. I can especially recommend the garlic truffle sauce! On this occasion, my husband and I enjoyed the classic and the curry.

Easy-going fish and chips restaurant, ideal for a quick bite. 🐟🍟 Hearty food with lots of flavour. Fish is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Chips on the side are crispy, with plenty of delicious sauce on the side. 🪑 Rudimentary but still cozy interior. Service is fast, so you should be able to get a table without booking. 💶 Became a bit more expensive over the years, but still good value.

There are no better place in Brussels to eat fish as good as this one, specially that this is one of the few places here where you can find a full fish and not just a slice of it. The sauces are amazing, same as the drinks and the attention you get from the friendly staff. Definitely, I will go back again and again just for the special menu I show in this picture. Excellent Service.

Best fish n’ chips in town! The place was very cozy and the food was tasty. They were super fast btw, and very nice waitress. A bit more expensive compared to other fish and chips places but it’s worth it.

Refused table service at 39 minutes before closing. I'm glad your business is so profitable that you turn away customers.

Fresh fish but the dish was very tasteless and needed some salt. I feel like the flavor you choose doesn’t change anything as they all just taste like plain fried fish.

The food is simply amazing! We ordered the shrimp appetizers, chicken and chips, fish and chips and the fish burger all were exceptional. Great quality, great flavors and most importantly not oily at all for fried foods.

We visited for dinner. The fish is fresh and you can tell. The batter was perfectly seasoned and the fish tender. We had it with a fiery sauce and went well with the fish. The salad on the side was good too. I enjoyed their food.

The vegetarian option has been my go to meal for the past 6 years! Can never get enough of the cheese risotto balls and the perfectly salted chips. The garlic mayo is really the cherry on top

The best Fish & Chips in the center of Brussels! Light and crunchy breading, tasty chips and everything served hot and fast. Perfect service. I took the classic. Highly recommended. I'll be back.

Good experience indulging in their Fish and Chips. The place was cozy and the staff were friendly. As a starter, Recommend trying the Sesame Panko Prawns. They were perfectly crispy and crunchy, offering a combination of flavors and textures. For the main course, We opted for the Lemon & Basil Tempura and the Spanish Panko Fish. Accompanied by homemade sauces and flavorful fries, both dishes were a treat . The fish was fresh and flaky, making it well worth a try. To quench our thirst, we enjoyed the refreshing lime and mint lemonade, which complemented the meals perfectly. It is worth noting that the place tends to be crowded. Overall, if you are in search of a good fish and chips experience, this spot offers a cozy ambiance, friendly service, and tasty dishes.

I can’t give less than 3 cause the food was really nice, but just way overpriced. €17 for one slice of fish and some potato chips is too much. If it was a tenner- great place

A very friendly welcome & proper homemade food. Much better than the big chains for quality and taste, the halloumi burger & homemade chips & mayo were delicious..!

Took the classic fish and chips, everything was amazing. I definitely want to come back to try the other dishes.

  • 3/5 Ala H. 2 years ago on Google
I mean this place is so overpriced, the fish is ok and everything but very expensive for what it is…. Every main dish contains 1 piece of fish and some fries costs about 13 euro, and I have to say that it’s not enough for many people since the portion size is not really good…. To think about paying 50€ for 2 pieces of fish, some fries and two drinks is just insane. And the staff weren’t so friendly, I asked to change my table and set outside after many tables became available and the waitress said: “you can’t change your table !!!! It was very weird and unexpected :-) Anyways, the place is so overrated and overpriced… not recommended at all…

The food here is absolutely amazing!!! You have to try it when you're in Brussels! Been visiting Brussels for a few days and I went there 3 days to eat. I had Fish and Chips with sweet potato fries, Fish Tacos and Halloumi Burger. You have to try there aiolis (truffle, chipotle and lemon herb).

Great dinner. Fish well fried and of high quality. Tasty homemade chips and lemonade. Highly recommended.

  • 5/5 Tibi 2 years ago on Google
Location is good. The staff are friendly and polite. The food is very good. Had the classic and the monthly special. Also the chips are made from fresh potatoes, not frozen. The lemonades were also good. Overall, recommend to try out this place, you will like it.

My first recommendation is to take fish and chips, so be ready to deal with some oil. Very creative options, sauces, and big portions. There are some nice vegetarian options, and if you are not too much into fish there are also burgers. I really like that there is English translation in the menu.

  • 5/5 Charles M. 2 years ago on Google
I liked the place very much. The homemade icetea with hibiscus was really good. Took a classic fish and chips but replaced the chips by the seasonal salad. Service was outstanding (was Simon I believe).

Great service, great and fresh food. We ate there several times, it was always perfect. Awesome value per money.

  • 4/5 Brendan 1 year ago on Google
Decent fish and chips. I appreciate the effort to make the fish and chips slightly different and add different flavours such as having Spanish or Cuban inspired sauces, to having a black sauce for the calamari. Cod definitely the fish to get. I think my expectations were too high from the reviews, as I thought it was about alright. Nothing bad, but not something I would specially come to try.

  • 4/5 R. S. 2 years ago on Google
Really good fish and chips! The potatoes tasted fresh and delicious. The pollock isn’t my favourite but it’s still good! The staff is nice and welcoming! But the dish is a bit pricey.

Unfortunately my hubs and I were quite disappointed with our meal since we came based on the reviews. Maybe we don't know how to appreciate fresh fish but in terms of taste, the classic fish & chips was so so. Not a big piece of fish, and the batter was not particularly tasty. The fries were more like sliced potato wedges but unfortunately didn't have much taste either, so though we both shared a meal, we didn't even eat half the fries. The squids for side was also okay, interesting balsamic sauce but the squid was not particularly tasty. My favourite was prolly the strawberry mint drink that was not too sweet but still refreshing enough. Female waitress was friendly but the male look like he doesn't want customers haha. Wouldn't come back :/

I was positively surprised with this place. I ordered the chicken burger and it was simply delicious. One of the best I've ever had. My friends tried the vegetarian arancini and they were also really happy. The staff was super friendly. I recommend 100%.

  • 4/5 Ronke A. 2 years ago on Google
I made the wrong choice of fish, I think. It came coated, and I didn't like it. I had a taste of the Red Gurnard from my friend's plate, and that tasted good. I ordered the pollock, it was the wrong choice for me. Aside from that, it was a nice place to sit down and catch up, and the waitress was friendly.

  • 5/5 Saravanan S. 11 months ago on Google
The best of everything. Service, food quality, taste, ambience, staff attitude, speed, cleanliness, value for money and everything not mentioned here. The sea bass was the freshest that I've ever tasted. The chips weren't some frozen fries bought from someone else. They were not oily or smelled of oil. Everything had quality and effort in it. I'll definitely be going back for more. They are the best at what they do. No compromise at all.

  • 5/5 Scott C. 2 years ago on Google
Very tasty. The breading was heavy but delicate. Such unique flavoring and the various sauces for dipping were delicious. I would go back for more. Plus the strawberry and basil lemonade was on point.

  • 5/5 Natashia S. 8 months ago on Google
So so so delicious. HUGE portions. We could not stop raving about the food through the meal. Everything was classic with a unique twist. Definitely recommend, I want to try the entire menu!

Really tasty and reasonably priced place given its central location. Much better than some of the other options locally. Our tacos were fresh and tasty. The kids menu was good value. The service was super friendly
